THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. TAKATA RECALL. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE ANYBODY IN MY CAR FOR 8 MONTHS NOW, UNLESS I WANT TO FORCE THEM TO SIT IN THE BACK. IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT I HAVE NOT EVEN BEEN TOLD WHEN THE AIRBAG INFLATION WILL BE FIXED AND/OR REPLACED, AND AM JUST TOLD TO CONTINUE NOT LETTING ANYONE SIT IN THE PASSENGERS SEAT.
TAKATA RECALL - BEEN AWAITING "PARTS" SINCE 5/27/2016. IT IS NOW 1/18/2017. RECALL STATES "INFLATOR COULD RUPTURE ... AFTER LONG-TERM EXPOSURE TO ABSOLUTE HIGH HUMIDITY AND TEMPERATURE CYCLING". MY VEHICLE WILL BE 12 YEARS OLD IN 3 MONTHS AND I LIVE IN "HOTLANTA" GA ("HIGH HUMIDITY" IS THE NORM HERE). I'VE "AVOID(ED) USE OF THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT" FOR 8 MONTHS NOW. OUR FAMILY HAS GROWN AND NOW THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE ANY LONGER. SPOKE TO AUDI USA TODAY (I CALL THEM REGULARLY) AND THEY STATE THEY STILL HAVE NO IDEA ON PARTS AVAILABILITY AS "NHTSA IS DETERMINING THE PRIORITY OF REPAIRS". HOW MY VEHICLE IS NOT A PRIORITY IS BEYOND MY COMPREHENSION. EIGHT MONTHS ON A WAITING LIST FOR A REMEDY IS BEYOND MY COMPREHENSION. I HAD TO BUY A LARGER CAR TO FIT MY GROWING FAMILY AND IT IS NOW BEYOND MY MORAL CAPABILITY TO SELL THIS DEFECTIVE VEHICLE "WHICH MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO VEHICLE OCCUPANTS" AND BE ABLE TO SLEEP AT NIGHT. AUDI IS A BIG CORPORATION, TAKATA IS A BIG CORPORATION AND NHTSA IS A BIG GOVERNMENT ENTITY BUT, I KNOW HUMAN BEINGS MUST STILL WORK AT BOTH PLACES AND SOMEBODY, SOMEWHERE HAS APPARENTLY DECIDED MY LIFE AND THE LIVES OF MY FAMILY ARE SOMEHOW NOT A PRIORITY. EIGHT MONTHS WITHOUT A DEFINITIVE FIX DATE ON A CAR THAT'S GOT TO BE A TICKING TIME BOMB AT 12 YEARS OLD IN THE HUMID SOUTH (YET WINTERS WITH TEMPS BELOW FREEZING AKA "TEMPERATURE CYCLING")... FIX IT OR REQUIRE AUDI TO BUY IT BACK A-LA VW DIESEL FIASCO.

TAKATA RECALL. A RECALL NOTICE WAS ISSUED IN JANUARY 2017 FOR A TAKATA AIRBAG IN THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE CALLED TWO DEALERS REPEATEDLY DURING 2017, IN ITHACA AND CICERO, HOWEVER REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS REMAIN UNAVAILABLE. SINCE I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE, I HAVE STOPPED CARRYING PASSENGERS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OF MY VEHICLE. THIS HAS IMPEDED USE OF THE VEHICLE. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE TO PUT ANOTHER PERSON AT RISK OF INJURY.

TAKATA RECALL IT HAS BEEN 3 MONTHS SINCE I RECEIVED AN OFFICIAL RECALL NOTICE AND 6 MONTHS SINCE THE RECALL WAS APPROVED. I HAVE CALLED AUDI SEVERAL TIMES AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET A HOLD OF ANYONE. NO RESPONSE AT ALL. I WANT TO SELL THE CAR, BUT WILL NOT IN GOOD CONCIENCE KNOWIGN THERE IS A MAJOR FLAW WITH A REQUIRED SAFETY SYSTEM.
AUDI IS TAKING TOO LONG TO COME UP WITH A FIX FOR THE 2005 AUDI A4'S THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED DUE TO UNSAFE PASSENGER-SIDE AIRBAGS. EXAMPLE: [XXX] HAS BEEN RECALLED BUT THE LISTING ON NHTSA SAYS THAT NO REMEDY IS AVAILABLE. THIS IS UNSAFE AND UNFAIR TO CUSTOMERS. "TAKATA RECALL" RECEIVED LETTER WARNING OF SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH, AND TO AVOID USE OF FRONT PASSENGER SEAT UNTIL RECALL IS PERFORMED. AUDIUSA, AND SPECIFICALLY AUDI SAN DIEGO HAS INFORMED ME TO CONTINUE USE OF THE CAR BECAUSE "AS TO DATE NO ISSUES HAVE OCCURED WITH AUDI." (GM SAN DIEGO AUDI). THIS IS MY HUSBAND'S AND MY ONLY VEHICLE; HE DRIVES ME TO WORK DAILY AND WITH BAD BACK FRONT SEAT IS ONLY OPTION. IS AUDI WAITING FOR FIRST DEATH IN ORDER TO OFFER REMEDIES SUCH AS HONDA, BMW, MAZDA, ETC. REFUSED BY BOTH DEALERSHIP AND AUDIUSA TO OFFER RENTAL CAR DURING RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 AUDI A4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE HIS VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUFFERED INJURIES AND WERE TAKEN TO A HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
2005 AUDI A4 QUATTRO WAS SERVICED AT DEALERSHIP IN NASHVILLE TN FOR A RECALL OF COIL PACKS. AFTERWARD THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT APPEARED. THE CAR WAS SERVICED FOR THE AIR BAG AND A SWITCH UNDER THE SEAT WAS REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE. TWO WEEKS LATER THE AIR BAG LIGHT RE-APPEARED. THE DEALER STATES THAT A NEW SENSOR IS NECESSARY. A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET REVEALED THAT MANY AUDI OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE AIR BAG SENSOR. THIS IS A DEFECTIVE SAFETY PART AND SHOULD BE RECALLED BY AUDI. *TR
AIRBAG LIGHT CONTINUES TO TRIP. FIRST OCCURRENCE FAULT INDICATED DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG UPPER LIMIT EXCEED. REPLACED DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG AND CONNECTORS. CAR WAS 47 DAYS OUTSIDE 4 YR WARRANTY WITH ONLY 42K MILES. 5 MONTHS LATER LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, REPAIR ACCOMPLISHED AGAIN, LIGHT CAME ON AFTER ONE DAY. SERVICE TECH STATED THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW IF AIRBAG WOULD DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. INSTRUCTED TO PUT A COUPLE HUNDRED MILES ON CAR. SCHEDULE TO GO BACK TO DEALER THIS WEEK. *TR
THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ACTIVATED APPROX. MID JANUARY, 2009. THERE WERE NO EVENTS LEADING TO THIS FAILURE. SINCE THE LIGHT ORIGINALLY TURNED ON, IT HAS BEEN CONTINUALLY ON, INDICATING A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLES AIRBAG. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE TECHNICIANS DESCRIBED THIS PROBLEM AS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE IN THE 2005 AUDI A4'S. HE STATED THAT THIS HAS OCCURRED SO FREQUENTLY THAT HE KNEW THE PROBLEM BEFORE HOOKING THE VEHICLE UP TO DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT. THIS WAS ALSO CONFIRMED WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ASSISTANT MANAGER. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED FOUR TIMES. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER EACH TIME, BUT DEALER WAS UNABLE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP CLEANED THE SENSOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT, REPAIRED THE AIRBAG, REPLACED THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG, AND PERFORMED WIRING REPAIRS. THE REPAIRS WERE MINOR AND ONLY LASTED FOR A BRIEF PERIOD. *AK
DT: THE CONSUMER OWNS A 2005 AUDI A4. THE CONSUMER HAD AN ACCIDENT ON JUNE 21, 2005. THE FRONT OF HIS VEHICLE HIT THE GUARDRAIL AND HIS AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. AUDI MANUFACTURER DID NOT SEEM TO BE TO INTERESTED. THE SPEED AT TIME OF IMPACT WAS BETWEEN 25-30 MPH. THERE WAS NO PRE-IMPACT BRAKING. A LARGE TRUCK CAME INTO HIS LANE HE STEERED TO THE RIGHT, STRUCK THE END OF A GUARDRAIL WITH THE FRONT OF HIS VEHICLE WENT OVER A 60 FOOT EMBANKMENT AND THEN ROLLED OVER. THERE WAS ONE OCCUPANT AND HE WAS WEARING HIS SEAT BELT. THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS NOT ON PRIOR TO THE CRASH. THE INSURANCE COMPANY STATED THAT THIS WAS A TOTAL LOSS AND THERE ARE PICTURES AVAILABLE. *JB
