OIL PUMP BOLT LOSE TIMING CHAIN RATTLING LOSE OIL PRESSURE.
"TAKATA RECALL" ON MY REGULAR DAILY ROUTINE, I TRIED TO TURN ON MY CAR THAT IT WAS PARKED ON MY DRIVEWAY. I TRIED TURNING MY CAR ON WHEN I HEARD A BIG POP SOUND, AFTER THAT BIG POP SOUND A CLOUD OF SMOKE FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR. WHEN I OPEN THE HOOD OF THE CAR I SAW THAT THE INTAKE MANIFOLD OF THE CAR WAS BROKEN INTO PIECES.
I JUST TRIED TO START MY Q7 AND DIDN'T WANT TO START, THE AUTO STARTER WAS GOING FOR LIKE 4 SECONDS, SO I RETURN THE KEY TO THE OFF POSITION TO STOP IT, AND A LOUD BANG AND SMOKE CAME OUT THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, WHEN I CHECK, I SAW THE SMOKE COMING OUT THE LOWER PART OF THE INTAKE MANIFORD, IT WAS SEPARATED FROM THE MAIN PIECE, I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS INTAKE GOT THIS USELESS PLASTIC COVER, BUT I REALLY NOT SURE WHAT COULD CAUSE THIS, I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AND APPARENTLY IT CAME UNDONE FOR NOT APARENT REASON OTHER THAN A "BAD DESIGNED PART" THIS HAPPENED WHEN I WAS STARTING IT ON MY DRIVEWAY, BUT COULD HAPPEN ANYWHERE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 AUDI Q7. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED BY A CERTIFIED MECHANIC, THE OIL PUMP BOLT DETACHED AND DAMAGED THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER WERE DRIVING ON A BUSY SECTION OF ROAD WHEN THE CAR DIED. NO ONE WAS HURT AND THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT. A POLICE OFFICER PROVIDED SAFETY UNTIL THE TOW VEHICLE CAME. THE ISSUE IS A BLOWN ENGINE. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THE ENGINE WAS FAILING AND IT APPEARS TO BE A TIMING CHAIN ISSUE. WE HAVE HAD ALL REQUIRED MAINTENANCE PERFORMED AT AUDI BUT IT IS PASS THE WARRANTY SO I AM GETTING NO SUPPORT FROM AUDI RECOGNIZING OR ADMITTING TO THE PROBLEM. THE OIL PUMP BOLT VIBRATED LOOSE CAUSING TIMING GEAR AND CHAIN TO FALL OUT INSIDE ENGINE CAUSING CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE AND LOSS OF BRAKES AND POWER STEERING. WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET MOVING WITH TRAFFIC AND SUDDENLY THE ENGINE SILENTLY FAILS CAUSING LOSS OF POWER ASSIST BREAKS AND STEERING. THE CAR IS ALMOST SILENT SO I DID NOT REALIZE UNTIL I CAME UP TO A STOP LIGHT AND NEEDED TO BRAKE ALMOST CAUSING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. IF YOU GOOGLE "OIL PUMP BOLT ISSUES" YOU WILL SEE THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PASSATS AND AUDI 'S WITH 3.6 LITER ENGINES MANUFACTURED AT THE SAME FACTORY WITH THIS ISSUE. MOST OF THEM FAILED WHILE THE CARS WERE UNDER WARRANTY AND WERE FIXED QUIETLY BY THE DEALERS. THOSE OF US WHO WERE UNLUCKY ENOUGH TO BUY ONE THAT HAS NOT HAD THE "STRENGTHENED BOLT' INSTALLED OR ENGINE FAILURE PRIOR TO THE WARRANTY ARE DRIVING TICKING TIME BOMBS. THE BIG PROBLEM FOR THIS PART IS THAT IT IS LOCATED BEHIND A COVER IN SUCH A WAY THAT THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE PULLED IN ORDER TO REACH IT THIS IS AN EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE PREVENTATIVE STEP CLOSE TO 2 K OR MORE JUST TO CHECK FOR A BOLT. I WISH I HAD KNOWN PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING AS EVERY PLACE I'VE SPOKEN TO WANTS 15000 DOLLARS TO INSTALL ANOTHER ENGINE. I COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN KILLED IF I WAS GOING A LITTLE FASTER AND NEEDED TO STOP FAST.
THE EXHAUST SYSTEM ACCUMULATES WATER AND WHEN TEMPERATURES ARE BELOW 32 DEGREES WATER WILL FREEZE AND CAR WILL NOT OPERATE. TWO GALLONS OF WATER WAS REMOVED FROM THE EXHAUST SYSTEM IN ORDER FOR THE CAR TO RUN. *TR
DRIVING MY CAR WHEN I HEARD POP AND CAR STALLED. ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO DEALER. DEALER SAID OIL PUMP WENT AND CAUSED THE ENGINE TO SEIZE. KNOW I HAVE TO REPLACE ENGINE. CAR WAS AT DEALER TWO WEEKS PRIOR AND ISSUE NOT ADDRESSED. *TR
2007 AUDI Q7. ATTORNEY REPRESENTING CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO LOSS OF POWER TO VEHICLE ENGINE WHILE DRIVING . *SMD THE CONSUMER WAS FORCED TO GLIDE TO THE SHOULDER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THE REPAIRS WERE ALLEGEDLY MADE. HOWEVER, ON DECEMBER 31, 2012, WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE AND TOTAL LOSS OF POWER TO THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AGAIN.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY AUDI Q7, IT JERKED AT 20 MPH FOR 3 TO 4 TIMES. TOOK IT TO DEALER, THEY SAID IT WAS DUE TO CARBON BUILDUP. THEY CLEANED IT, AFTER 3 WEEKS, I WAS DRIVING ON FREEWAY AT 60 MPH, ITS HUGE JERK CAR STOP AND GO AS IF THERE IS LACK OF FUEL SUPPLY. THE GUY BEHIND ME HONKED AS IF I DID UNEXPECTED BREAKING. THE NEXT DAY I AM DROPPING MY KID AT SCHOOL, THERE WAS STEEP HILL, THE CAR IS DOING SAME I WAS SCARED AS CAR IS PULLING DOWN FROM UPHILL. I FEEL THIS IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE TO ME AND THE CARS BEHIND ME. *TR

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VALVE THAT CONNECTS THE OIL PUMP TO THE ENGINE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,400 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500.
