THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG SINCE 2/5/2016 AND THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAG SINCE 5/25/2016. WHEN I CONTACT BMW THEY HAVE NO INFORMATION ON WHEN THIS WILL BE REPAIRED, AND I AM NOW RELUCTANT TO DRIVE THE CAR.

REGARDING RECALL 16V-071 - BMW CENTER IS UNABLE TO REMEDY THE DEFECT WITHIN A REASONABLE PERIOD OF TIME. PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AND IT HAS BEEN OVER 3 MONTHS. I AM REPORTING THAT BMW DOES NOT HAVE ADEQUATE PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX THE RECALLED PART AND IS CAUSE A DANGER TO DRIVERS OF THIS VEHICLE (INCLUDING MYSELF!)

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER OCCUPANT DETECTION MAT WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V564000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 116,000.
I RECEIVED A NOTICE IN THE MAIL THAT I HAVE A IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL FROM BMW OF NORTH AMERICA. THE RECALL IS FOR A DRIVERS FRONT AIR BAG MODULE. TODAY 3/31/2016 I CONTACTED TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS (FT. WORTH, TX LOCATION ON WHITE SETTLEMENT ROAD, AND THE ARLINGTON, TX LOCATION LOCATED OFF OF LAMAR AVE). BOTH LOCATIONS SAID THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE COMING IN TO REPLACE THE AIR BAG MODULE. I FIND IT UNACCEPTABLE TO TELL ME ITS AN IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL THAT COULD CAUSE RUPTURING AIR BAG RESULTING IN METAL FRAGMENTS IF I GET INTO A WRECK, AND NOT HAVE A DATE OF WHEN I CAN GET THIS CORRECTED.

TRAVELING ON EXPRESSWAY AT APPROX 60 MPH COLLIDED WITH A VEHICLE HITTING HIM ON REAR. I SUSTAINED INJURY TO MY CHEST AS A RESULT OF IMPACT AGAINST THE STEERING WHEEL BECAUSE THE AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY. I LEARNED THAT BMW HAS RECALLED AIRBAGS ON SEVERAL MODELS AND BELIEVE THE 2008 X5S SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. MY VEHICLE IS AT A COLLISION CENTER BUT I CAN MAKE IT AVAILABLE IN CASE NHTSA EXPERTS WOULD LIKE TO INVESTIGATE IF AIRBAG SENSORS ARE WORKING PROPERLY ON THIS MODEL. IF INDEED THE AIRBAGS ON THE 2008 BMW X 5S ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY, I'D LIKE FOR THE MANUFACTURER TO CREATE PUBLIC AWARENESS TO PREVENT ANY SERIOUS INJURIES AND/OR FATALITIES FROM HAPPENING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 BMW X5. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE THE DEALER STATED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER HAD TO ORDER THE AIR BAG SENSOR. THERE MONTHS LATER, THE DEALER STILL DID NOT HAVE THE PART AVAILABLE TO COMPLETE THE AIR BAG REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
VEHICLE IS SHOWING PASSENGER RESTRAINT SYSTEM FAILURE. THE ERROR WAS INTERMITTENT EARLIER DURING THE YEAR I.E IT WILL SHOW UP WHILE DRIVING BUT WILL GO AWAY UPON RESTARTING THE CAR. MY 4 YEAR WARRANTY PERIOD EXPIRED IN APRIL 2012. WHEN I HAD TAKEN IT FOR FINAL WARRANTY SERVICE I HAD MENTIONED IT TO THE DEALER (BMW OF ROCKVILLE) BUT AT THAT TIME THEY SAID THAT NOTHING IS WRONG SINCE VEHICLE DIAGNOSES IS NOT SHOWING ANYTHING. NOW WITHIN 5 MONTHS THIS FAILURE IS PERMANENT AND DEALER IS ASKING $454 FOR REPAIR - WHAT A PIECE OF GARBAGE THIS CAR IS. NEVER AGAIN AM I BUYING A BMW. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO ADVISED HIM THAT THE SEAT SENSOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED HIM THAT HE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 58,000.
