The failure involves the Integrated Brake System, which is subject to a manufacturer issued safety recall, and related braking components including a wheel speed sensor that is part of the brake and stability control system. The vehicle is currently back in my possession and is available for inspection upon request. My safety and the safety of others were put at risk due to sudden and unpredictable loss of braking capability while driving, including abrupt deceleration and stopping in traffic, creating near collision situations. The issue has been reproduced multiple times and confirmed through repeated service visits, with the first and second recall related repairs performed at BMW of West Houston and a third repair attempt performed at BMW of Houston Midtown, following which the vehicle was returned to me. The vehicle has been inspected by authorized BMW dealerships and BMW North America has been notified, though I have not received guidance from corporate BMW regarding a plan moving forward or instructions on how to proceed should a fourth brake failure occur. Brake related warning lamps and system messages appeared following both the first and second recall repairs, and after the October 30, 2025 recall repair the vehicle experienced a brake system failure within approximately 22 miles of driving despite the presence of warning indicators. Given the repeated failures after recall repairs, the prior warning messages, and the lack of direction from BMW North America, I am concerned about operating the vehicle, particularly for longer distances, due to the unpredictable nature of the brake failures and the unresolved safety risk.
Since February 2024, our vehicle has had an open recall for the integrated brake system, potentially affecting braking performance. BMW refuses to schedule a repair, claiming parts are unavailable. In reality, when they do have parts, they prioritize fixing vehicles for sale on their dealer lots while leaving current customers in potentially unsafe cars.
My BMW X5 has a recall on the braking system that was sent to me on October 2024 and still nothing has been done about it yet, the dealer always says it's not available yet, I believe this problem should be fixed by now and wonder if BMW will ever fix this problem, I believe they have had enough time to correct this. I have had an open recall for BRAKING since February 12. Both BMW USA and my local deal say they cannot or will not fix the issue. Again, this is for braking. BMW USA has not responded to multiple emails. I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle. It is on a lease and I wish to terminate the lease with no penalty.
Test DSC hydronic unit. Drive carefully! Take to your nearest dealer! Brake booster malfunction on recall but my vin number doesn’t show up on recall
THE BRAKES ON THIS VEHICLE WENT "SOFT" ON ONE OCCASION; THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE BRAKING SYSTEM THAT HAS BEEN OUTSTANDING FOR OVER A YEAR. BMW SEEM NO CLOSER TO FIXING THIS PROBLEM THAN THEY DID A YEAR AGO. BMW STATE THERE IS A FIX BEING IMPLEMENTED (IM NOT SURE I BELIEVE THEM) BUT WHATEVER THEY ARE OR ARE NOT DOING ITS TOO SLOW.
There has been no incident. This safety recall was issued on February 2024. BMW is still unable, or unwilling, to provide the parts to remedy this safety recall.
Considering the open recall and lack of repair after 12 months for the braking system we want to give the vehicle back to the manufacturer. It's a major safety concern and we have small children.
The braking system started malfunctioning. it was taking a longer distance and longer time to bring the car to a stop. All of a sudden there was a thump and warning lights came on. The warning light said the parking brake was no longer operable and was not available to help brake the car. The 2024 BMW X5 only has about 6,200 miles on it when this happened..
The manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for my vehicle in a timely manner, This recall was opened on Feb 12,2024 and has not been addressed. Manufacturer Recall NumberNA NHTSA Recall Number24V104 Recall StatusRecall Incomplete, remedy not yet available. Due to the safety concerns involving the INTEGRATED BRAKE: The Integrated Brake (IB) system may not have been produced by the supplier according to specifications. If the IB system was not functioning properly, a warning lamp and message will be displayed in the instrument cluster. In August, this recall was expanded to include additional potentially affected vehicles. Safety Risk In some cases, there will be a reduction in power assist braking, which could lead to an extended stopping distance and increase the risk of a crash. I feel unsafe driving this vehicle.
I had a situation where the vehicle brakes were not effective on the freeway and had severe vibration while hitting the pedal, I had to almost pump the brakes to come to a complete stop. the car had no warnings and the dealership was notified, they claimed there is an open recall for the braking system and the remedy is unavailable.
IT HAS BEEN ALMOST A YEAR AND REMEDY STILL UNAVAILABLE. DEALER HAS NO FIX FROM BMW. WHY IS THIS TAKING SO LONG. [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
As you can see, there is an open recall on my vehicle. This seems to be impacting roughly 80 thousand cars in the US. BMW does not have parts to fix this recall and is continuing to ask drivers to keep driving their cars with defective breaking system. I wanted to know what action you may take against a manufacturer that is essentially asking owners to keep driving unsafe cars on US highways presumably causing a dangerous situation for everyone.
Safety features did not work. I was parking and when brakes were pressed car accelerated instead of stopping, plowing into the car ahead and two additional cars. No automatic braking, no manual braking. The car is now in a BMW shop for repairs and evaluation. My warning features did not activate.
My 2024 BMW X5 has been on recall which is The Integrated Brake (IB) system/ safety recall since February, 2024. The brake system is not functioning properly and sometimes the car brakes automatically by itself which is a concerning issue and may lead to a crash. I have reached out BMW of Silver Spring many times they just don't care and they keep saying we can not do anything at this time and I even drove there couple times to talk to them at the dealership they keep saying same thing we are waiting for the parts. I received a call from one of their service department people called Alex said we have the parts available and we can service your vehicle I was out of town for work and when I came back to Virginia and drove to dealership and asked the same person who called me about the recall repair he said we don't have the parts available and we can not do anything at this time. I told him you called me that you guys have it available and I was out of town and when I returned to Virginia and drove from Stafford, Virginia all the way to BMW of Silver Spring, Maryland for 2 hours with traffic and he kept lying to me that we have to wait and he said he will call me soon in few weeks but it has been months he never called me. and I called him and asked him you never called me how are we going to solve this issue or BMW needs take care of this issue he said I have to call the Corporate I called BMW corporate they keep saying we don't have any answer or we can't tell how long does it take. so the car has been on safety recall for 6 months now and BMW has failing to solve this issue and I have had the worst experience with BMW.
No incident. However, I do want to highlight the fact that even after almost 4 months BMW has no remedy for my VIN number for this recall: NHTSA Recall Number 24V104. I am hoping that NHTSA can put more pressure on BMW to expedite remedy of this recall.
My car was recently fixed and the recall was remedied but still the recall has not been removed
NHTSA RECALL NUMBER: 24V104 - IN RELATION TO THIS RECALL FILED ON 12 FEB 2024 I HAVE EXPERIENCED RANDOM ANOMALIES WITH THE EFFECTIVENESS OF MY VEHICLES BRAKING WHICH DIDN'T ALARM ME BECAUSE I ATTRIBUTED THEM TO ROAD CONDITIONS OR MY LATENESS IN APPLYING THE BRAKES... SOME OTHER THING THAN A DEFECT IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM. I WAS NOT AWARE OF THE RECALL NOTICE AS I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY NOTIFICATION OF THIS DEFECT FROM BMW ALTHOUGH AT ONE POINT SOMETHING CAME UP ON THEIR (BMW) APP FOR THE VEHICLE BUT QUICKLY DISAPPEARED BEFORE I HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO READ IT. IT HAS BEEN TEN MONTHS SINCE THIS NOTICE WAS ISSUED, I CANNOT SEE ANYWHERE THAT IT HAS BEEN RECANTED, AND KNOWING I AM DRIVING A VEHICLE WHERE THE BRAKING SYSTEM IS SUSPECT MAKES ME NERVOUS. BMW NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE AND PROVIDE ME WITH AN ALTERNATIVE VEHICLE TO DRIVE.
