The passenger seat airbag indicates OFF on the status display inside the car. I have tried turning it on using the button on the status display with no success.

January 2023.. Structural Crack in the air bag dash location/passenger side...Looking at it more closely the crack continues in a perfect oval pattern. As of yet the car component in question has not been inspect by a dealer or others. When sitting back in the front passenger seat i can see that the dash is humped up in just that area..the oval area. This oval area is just above the word air bag on the face of the dash. My concern is that if this is the airbag it could deploy and injury myself and others and cause a serious accident. the car has approximately 74,000 miles on it

It doesn’t matter if someone is in the passenger seat or not, the airbag light keeps coming on on my dashboard saying that the passenger airbag has been disabled. The light will keep turning on and off even when someone is not in the passenger seat.

THE AIRBAG ALERT LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND OFF. THIS HAPPENS STATIONARY, MOVING, WHEN SOMEONE IS THE SEAT OR NOT, ON BUMPY ROADS, AND ALL SPEEDS. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC, WHO SAID IT'S THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR IN THE PASSENGER SEAT THAT NEEDS REPLACING. HE SUGGESTED I GO TO THE DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE IT. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME $800 TO FIX IT. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING MEANWHILE AND THIS LOOKS LIKE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2010 CAMARO. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY I WOULD BE ASKED TO PAY THAT MUCH TO FIX SOMETHING THAT ISN'T MY FAULT AND IN FACT APPEARS TO BE A MANUFACTURING ERROR. ON TOP OF THAT, THE DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE ME $150 TO DIAGNOSE WHAT I TOLD THEM WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN!!!!

AIR BAG SERVICE OPTION KEEP COMING UP ON MY SCREEN WHILE ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND CITY STREETS I TURNED OFF ONTO AFTER BEING FRIGHTENED BY THE MESSAGE. BARELY HAD THE CAR 5 MONTHS AND IT STARTED. IT WOULD CHIME THEM DISAPPEAR. THIS IS VERY SCARY AND MAKES ME VIEW MY CAR AS A TICKING DEATH TRAP. I DONT FEEL I NEED TO PAY FOR THIS OUT OF POCKET FOR THIS. AS IT DEALS WITH THE SAFETY OF THE CAR FROM A COMPANY I TRUST.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET CAMARO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SERVICE AIR BAGS WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO APPLE CHEVROLET DEALER (8585 W. 159TH STREET, TINLEY PARK, IL 60487, (708)429-3000) TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST PERFORMED. THE MECHANIC LOCATED THE FAILURE CODE AS THE AIR BAGS SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAIN SYSTEM FAILED AND CAUSED THE PASSENGER'S SIDE INTERNAL DETECTION SYSTEM TO FAIL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.

PASSENGER AIRBAG ILLUMINATED WHEN A SOMEONE SAT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND NOW STAYS ILLUMINATED WHETHER SITTING IN THE SEAT OR NOT. LOOKED INTO THE PROBLEM AND REALIZED GM HAS BEEN MADE AWARE OF THE DEFECT THAT IS CAUSING MANY OF CONSUMERS THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE DECIDED TO NOT GET IT FIXED DUE TO THE COST OF REPAIRING AND THE FACT THAT GM SHOULD BE THE ONES FIXING THEIR SAFTEY DEFECTS.

A 'SERVICE AIRBAG' NOTIFICATION HAS BEEN TURNING ON SPORADICALLY WHILE DRIVING MY 2010 CAMARO (REGARDLESS OF SPEED AND/OR IF A PASSENGER IS IN THE CAR). WHEN I TOLD MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHILE I WAS THERE GETTING AN OIL CHANGE, THE EMPLOYEE TOLD ME IT WOULD COST $120 FOR THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSTIC AND THAT IF I GET INTO A CAR ACCIDENT MY AIRBAG WOULDN'T DEPLOY. I THINK IT'S UNFAIR AND IRRESPONSIBLE OF THEM TO CHARGE FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC, FROM WHAT I'VE READ ONLINE, MANY OTHER INDIVIDUALS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THE 2010 CAMARO AND GM KNOWS ABOUT THE DEFECT AND THAT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY. THE FACT THAT THIS IS STILL NOT A RECALL IS CRIMINALLY NEGLECTFUL AND I BELIEVE THERE IS CURRENTLY A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST THE COMPANY.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET CAMARO. WHILE DRIVING, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE AIR BAG MIGHT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ALL AMERICAN CHEVROLET OF KILLEEN (LOCATED AT 1802 E CENTRAL TEXAS EXPY, KILLEEN, TX 76541, (254) 213-5397) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,129.

WENT TO GET AN OIL CHANGE LAST WEEK. AFTER THE OIL CHANGE, MY "SERVICE AIR BAG" LIGHT IS ON. TALKED WITH THE MECHANIC AND HE SHOWED ME EVERYTHING HE HAD TOUCHED ON MY VEHICLE. TOOK MY CAR TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP IN ABERDEEN MD AND THEY SAID THAT AN OIL CHANGE WOULD NOT INTERFERE WITH THE AIRBAG SENSOR. ONE OF THE SERVICE GUYS TOLD ME IT IS NORMALLY A WIRE THAT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED. THEY SCHEDULED ME FOR AN APPOINTMENT FOR MONDAY BUT AFTER DOING RESEARCH I DECIDED TO HOLD OFF. I DO NOT THINK I SHOULD BE FIXING A SAFETY ISSUE, PLUS I AM SEEING THIS COMMON IN THESE CARS. WHAT ARE CHEVY'S PLANS TO FIX? I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MY 11 YEAR OLD SON AROUND IN A CAR THAT COULD POTENTIALLY BE A DEATH TRAP FOR HIM.

MY VEHICLE HAS 40,970 MILES ON IT AND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR FAILED AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WOULD BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAY SENSOR FAILING WITH 40,000 MILES ON IT, BUT NOT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR WHICH HAS LESS MILES ON IT. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM THAT CHEVY IS AWARE OF AND THAT THEY HAVE NOT MADE ANY CHANGES TO THE REPLACEMENT AIR BAG SENSORS TO CORRECT THIS DEFECT. THE SENSOR COSTS OVER $400.00 TO REPLACE.

I CALLED ONSTAR TO DO A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, AND THEY SAID YES THEIR SHOWING A TSB CODE OF BOO81, AND AFTER DOING SOME ONLINE RESEARCH, I FINED THAT THIS AN ON GOING ISSUE. I HAVE CONTACTED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY TOLD ME TO CONTACT MY CHEVY DEALER, TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST DONE, THEN CONTACT GM AGAIN, TO SEE IF THEIR GOING TO COVER THIS, BUT GM CUSTOMER SERVICE REP SAID MY CAR ISN'T UNDER WARRANTY, I LET THEM NO IT'S NOT A MATTER OF WARRANTY, IT'S A MATTER OF SAFETY AND SHOULDN'T MATTER IF IT'S A WARRANTY ISSUE, SOMETHING IS DEFECTIVE, AND GM SHOULD FIX THIS AS A DEFECTIVE PART OR PARTS RELATED TO THE AIRBAG SYSTEM, I PLAN ON BRING IT TO THE DEALER WEDNESDAY 21 JUNE FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE "SERVICE AIRBAG" WARNING INDICATOR TURNS ON AND OFF RANDOMLY. SOMETIMES IT STAYS ON FOR DAYS/ WEEKS, SOMETIMES IT TURNS OF FOR A FEW MINUTES. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS ABOUT 64K MILES ON IT, AND IT STARTED HAPPENING AT ABOUT 50K. I HAVE YET HAD IT REPAIRED AS I CAN NOT AFFORD TO PAY AL;MOST $1500 TO $1900 TO REPAIR THIS. I AM AWARE OF A CLASS ACTION AGAINST GM FOR THIS ISSUE, AND I HOPE THE PLAINTIFFS WIN AND THE SETTLEMENT CAUSES GM TO HAVE TO RECALL ALL OF THE VEHICLES AFFECTED BY THIS TO REPAIR THE ISSUE AT NO COST TO THE OWNERS, REGARDLESS OF YEARS AND MILAGE OWNED, WHETHER OR NOT THEY WERE THE ORIGINAL OWNERNER OR NOT.
