The transmission temperature sensor has gone bad in my 2016 Camaro ss with 6.2L engine, GM has recalled thousands of 2016 vehicles with this very issue, these transmissions have enough issues as it is, and GM knows it’s an issue or they wouldn’t have already recalled all those other 2016 vehicles. It can cause damage to the already fragile/finicky transmission in the 2016 models and other years, causing overheating of the transmission and causing the car to go into limp mode, and in my case it didn’t even throw a check engine light, I took my car to a mechanic about a different concern and he told me and showed me the code, he cleared it out and It immediately came back and still no check engine light.it’s a P0711 code, faulty/dead transmission temperature sensor. My car isn’t acting right shifting and I’ve noticed other issues, but is it that sensor or is it one of the many other issues with the 8L45 and 8L90 transmissions? So if that sensor is an issue in many other 8L90 transmissions why do they think it’s not an issue in the Camaro? You can go on any GM related forum and read all the complaints for this issue, and there are recalls about it for other GM vehicles but not Camaro. And it’s not a cheap repair, and it depends on which wiring harness that in the car to how much of the transmission has to be taken apart to repair the issue.
When shifting car into park, I get a shift to park warning when turning off the car even tho car is in park. I have to turn car back on and shift out of park and back into park until message goes away.
Dashboard says shift to park. Car is in park. Cannot turn off headlights or open trunk. Have to disconnect battery.
our insured, [XXX] , owners of the 2016 Camaro, turned in their vehicle to Atkins Kroll, Inc, Guam, due to complaints of the wiring harness within the trunk burned due to water infiltration into the trunk cavity, due to the trunk weatherstrip failing to keep out the water from the trunk. AK has determined that this is considered wear and tear. our insured advises that there are three other Camaros at AK with the same problem. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
2016 CHEV CAMARO SS STARTER ISSUES. STARTER IS TOO CLOSE TO THE EXHAUST SYSTEM WHICH HEATS UP EXTREMELY HOT AND AFFECTS THE COMPONENTS IN THE STARTER AND LOCKS UP STARTER.
The RPM gauge is malfunctioning, it’s hard pin point when it exactly it happens because i could be driving one day and it would be fine but the next it would be happening. What happens with the gauge is that It jumps to high rpms without any rev sounds the meter just seems to jump like crazy, it coursed a safety concern because the first time it happened was in a freeway going around 60mph and it started to bounce a lot and braked thinking my car was revving high and almost got rear ended, i pulled over and turned my E-Lights and turned the car off and turned it back on and it was fine after that, i took it to the dealer and they said they could not find anything and that it was probably something that would go away, i left and to this day it still does it not every time but there is times it randomly jumps a lot, sometimes when I accelerate sometimes when I’m decelerating i really don’t know what causes it. The car also seems to have no lights or warning lights of what it could be no warning lights are on the dash. I bought the car used from the dealership 4/5/2022 on the way home on that day was the first time it happened.
2016 CAMARO 2SS. STARTING IN EARLY OCT. VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY AND WOULD NOT START. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. GOT VEHICLE BACK LATE OCT. AND 5 MILES DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. CALLED FOR A TOW BACK TO DEALERSHIP. RECEIVED VEHICLE LATE DEC. DROVE TO WORK AND BACK, ALL IS GOOD NEXT DAY .. DROVE TO THE BANK AND PULLED UP INTO MY DRIVEWAY .. ACTIVATED E BRAKE AND REACHED FOR THE POWER BUTTON .. THE VEHICLE MYSTERIOUSLY SHUT ITSELF OFF. I PUSHED THE CLUTCH IN AND PUSHED THE START BUTTON .. NOTHING NO POWER. TO BE HONEST .. SEEMS VERY DANGEROUS TO BE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AROUND NOT KNOW WHEN THE VEHICLE WILL LOSE ALL ITS POWER. NOT A GOOD FEELING. BEEN LUCKY EXCEPT FOR THE HIGHWAY SHUT DOWN .. THAT WAS SCARY! VEHICLES FLYING BY YOU OVER 65 MILES AN HOUR .. ROCKING THE VEHICLE AS EVERY VEHICLE AND TRUCK PASSED BY ..
WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE COMPUTER GENERATES A MESSAGE: REDUCED PERFORMANCE, REDUCE CLUTCH USE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE POWER OF THE ENGINE IS REDUCED TO 1/3 OR TO TWO CYLINDERS, AND THE SPEEDOMETER GOES FLYING ALL AROUND, VARYING BY ABOUT 25 MPH UP AND DOWN. WE HAVE TAKEN THE CAR FOUR TIMES TO THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND HAD THE CLUTCH AND FLYWHEEL REPLACED, TIGHTENED, ETC., AND THEY HAVE REPROGRAMMED SEVERAL THINGS IN COMPUTER. TWO SEPARATE CASES HAVE BEEN FILED WITH GM AND TO THIS POINT THEY HAVE NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. THE TRANSMISSION IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THEY SAY ITS NOT THAT. THIS CREATES AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS DRIVING SITUATION.
WHEN IT RAINS HEAVY WATER IS GETTING INTO THE TRUNK OF THE CAR, WHERE THE WHEEL WELL IS THERE IS A FUSE BOX AND THAT'S WHERE THE WATER SITS. THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS OF THE CAR HAD TO BE REPLACED THE CORDS WERE BURNT AND SMOKE IN THE CABIN OF THE CAR THIS HAPPENED LAST YEAR 2018 NOW IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN THIS YEAR 2019
2016 CAMARO 2LT RS WOULD NOT START 11.23.2017. AFTER CHECKING THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT, WATER WAS FOUND BELOW THE TRUNK DECK LID. DRIED THE AREA OUT AND WAS ABLE TO JUMP START VEHICLE. DROVE 29 MILES AND AS I NEARED MY DESTINATION, YOU COULD SMELL SMOKE. OPENED UP THE TRUNK AND FOUND SMOKE PLUS MELTED AND SINGED FUSES THAT POTENTIALLY COULD HAVE CAUGHT FIRE. VEHICLE TOWED TO CAPITAL AUTO GROUP 11.24.17. ADVISED DEALER THAT WE WOULD ESCALATE DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS, BUT AUTHORIZED REPAIRS. DEALERSHIP LATER SAID THEY REVIEWED WITH GM AND IT DID NOT QUALIFY FOR GM CUSTOMER GOODWILL PROGRAM. THEY REPAIRED THE WIRING AND THEN CONCLUDED THAT THE WATER LEAK WAS CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE TRUNK SEAL. REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED 12.26.2017. ASKED THE MANAGER TO RETURN OUR CALL, WHICH NEVER HAPPENED. ON 1.30.2018, WE CALLED GM AND OPENED A CASE WITH THEM. GM ADVISED THAT THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT FOLLOW PROTOCOL AND GM HAS NO RECORD OF THE DEALERSHIP NOTIFYING THEM THE VEHICLE FUSES WERE MELTED. ON 3.7.2018, CHECKED STATUS OF CLAIM WITH GM AND FOUND THAT THEY CLOSED THE CASE. THEY STATED THAT WHEN THEY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, THEY WERE TOLD THE REPAIRS HAD BEEN COMPLETED, SO NO FURTHER INVESTIGATION WOULD WAS NEEDED. I ASKED MORE THAN ONCE IF THEY WERE NOT CONCERNED WITH VEHICLE SAFETY AND CARS POTENTIALLY CATCHING FIRE. THEY STATED THAT THE REPAIRS HAD BEEN COMPLETED AND THEY WERE NOT INVESTIGATING FURTHER, EVEN THOUGH CAPITOL AUTO GROUP DID NOT FOLLOW GM PROTOCOL ON A SAFETY ISSUE. I EVEN STATED 'SO YOU ARE GOING TO WAIT FOR VEHICLES TO CATCH FIRE BEFORE THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR GM' AND RECEIVED THE SAME RESPONSE. I LET THEM KNOW THAT A CLAIM WOULD BE FILED WITH NHTSA SO THIS COULD BE INVESTIGATED. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED 01.19.16 AND WAS LESS THAN TWO YEARS OLD WHEN THIS OCCURRED. CUSTOMER RETAINED MELTED FUSES, PHOTOS DEALERSHIP PROVIDED AND THE REPAIR RECEIPTS.
