Vehicle is doing a hard shift from first to second, severe shuddering, sometimes when braking vehicle acts like it wants to surge forward took to a transmission shop I have a bad torque converter and was told this is a problem with the 8 speed transmission from GM. This is a known issue with these transmissions that GM /dealership knew and refuse to fix. The vehicle stalled on me on a road at night where there's no stores, I'm a female alone on a dark road for about 30 minutes trying to get car to start. Luckily it did. This could've caused an accident and my safety was at risk being stranded alone at night. I was told to not drive the car until fixed. I do not have the funds to fix this issue and GM does not respond to requests, Chevrolet is not helping either.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Camaro. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal rumbling sound coming from the front of the vehicle. The contact stated that it felt like the front end of the vehicle was out of alignment. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact believed that there was a misfire coming from the engine. The failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The contact was informed that the front-end was properly aligned. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. While a friend was driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a misfire in the engine. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with torque converter failure. The contact was informed that the torque converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failur,e and a case was filed. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.
Transmission failed and need to be replaced at about 60,300 miles, just after the warranty expired. Told by the dealership multiple times the hard downshifts and odd shift patterns were normal and not an issue. Turns out it was the transmission valve body failing, causing the entire transmission to fail. Components are not available for inspection. I was able to limp the car home and to the dealership as failure was mainly slippage. There were no warning lights. The transmission was serviced in at approx. 25,000 miles and wiring harness replaced.
Was stoped at a stop sign. When I tried to accelerate the car acted like it didn’t want to go and the back wheels locked up causing a screeching noise. Before coming to the stop sign it felt like it was having a shuddering affect. Luckily there was no traffic and it finally shifted out but wouldn’t accelerate very well. I was able to make it home and the Check engine is now on. It was definitely scary experience and now I’m kinda afraid to drive it. This car is low mileage (less than 50k) and a daily driver.
The transmission shutters at several speed intervals causing jerking of the vehicle on the roadways.
Bulletin No.: 19-NA-018 Shake and/or Shudder During Light Throttle Acceleration Between 40 and 128 KM/H (25 and 80 MPH) at a Steady State. Safety Issues: slipping clutch, worn-out gears, or low transmission fluid, problems with the torque converter or other transmission components. After several visits to the dealer, the problem was diagnosed by a service bulletin in 2023. The vehicle was inspected by a Chevrolet dealer. I received no warnings prior to the failure of the issue. This problem appeared at 30k miles but became severe at 43k miles.
While cruising (not accelerating) or accelerating very slowly, the transmission goes into a shutter. I do believe this would be caused by the torque converter. Could be faulty. Seems to be a very common trend.
2019 Chevy Camaro transmission is shuddering. In other words it feels like my car is running over rubber strips on the road between 40 mph to 80mph. I know there is several TSBs that GM has put out on this issue with the A8. Went to Lynn Smith Chevrolet on 07/06/2023 and was told since my car is out of warranty it would cost me 625 dollars to have the transmission flushed and have the new synthetic transmission fluid in it. They said that’s the first step GM wants service depts to do. I’m sorry but if GM knows this is a problem then there should be a recall on it. I know there are already class action lawsuits on this problem. I can’t afford to have my transmission drained 2 or three 3 times. It is causing safety risk when you accelerate and lose power on the interstate or it is sluddering as you pick up speed at a red light.Thought the problem was my tires so had 2 new sets put on and realized it wasn’t the tires.
Transmission shudders going 25 to 80 MPH
MY TRANSMISSION HAS AN ISSUE WHERE IT IS DIFFICULT TO SHIFT INTO 2ND GEAR AND SOMETIMES WHEN SHIFTING INTO SECOND GEAR, IT KICKS ME OUT AND PLACES ME IN NEUTRAL. THE HOUSING ON THE TRANSMISSION AND THE TRANSMISSION IS DEFECTIVE AND THE CHEVROLET DEALERS DO IT WANT TO HELP ME!
TODAY IN THE MORNING, I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY TO WORK AND AS I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 45 MPH, I HEARD A CLUNK SOUND UNDER THE CAR AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I SLOWED DOWN AND STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND THEN I BEGIN TO DRIVE AGAIN AND I NOTICED THAT MY CAR WAS DRIVING AT A HIGH RPM AND IT SEEMED LIKE WAS STUCK AT A SHIFT AND IT DIDN'T WANT TO CHANGE GEARS SO I SLOWED DOWN PULLED INTO AN ENTRANCE AND TURNED OFF MY VEHICLE I LOOKED UNDER THE CAR AND I DIDNT SEE ANYTHING WRONG; NO LEAKS OR NOTHING. I TURNED IT BACK ON AND DROVE IT TO AUTO PARTS TO SEE HAVE THEM RUN A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TEST AND 3 CODES CAME UP WHICH WAS P0964, P0966, AND P0700. AFTER THAT I TOOK IT BACK HOME AT A SLOW SPEED AND LEFT IT THERE UNTIL I GOT BACK HOME FROM WORK. I STARTED MY CAR UP AND DIDNT SEE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON ANYMORE. I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT SERVICED AND CHECKED.
