I HAVE A 2005 CHEVY COLORADO 2WD. I HAVE A ABS PROBLEM, THE ABS FAULT COMES ON WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. CHECKED CODES GETTING C0035 C0040 C0220. I FOUND BAD WHEEL HUB ON LEFT SIDE. REPLACED HUB AND ABS SENSOR. STILL HAD PROBLEM CHECKED CODES AGAIN,TOLD ME THE RIGHT SIDE ABS SENSOR BAD. I HAD REPLACED HUB AND SENSOR ON THE RIGHT SIDE. THE PROBLEM STILL THERE, SPOKE WITH A GM REP. TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD FOR ME EXCEPT BRING IT IN AND CHECK THE PROBLEM. I AM A ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC SO I DO ALL MY OWN WORK. WITH THIS PROBLEM I HAVE ABS STOPS WHILE DRIVING ON DRY NORMAL SURFACE ROADS AT LOW SPEEDS THE TRUCK WILL DART ACROSS THE ROAD AND NOT STOP UNTIL YOU PUMP THE BRAKES . THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN HAPPENING EVERYDAY FOR A MONTH. I HAVE 75,550 MILES ON THE TRUCK, WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT THE TRUCK IT ONLY DID IT WHEN THE ROADS WHERE WET.NOT SURE WHAT TO DO ABOUT THE ISSUE EXCEPT GM NEEDS TO RECALL AND REPAIR THE ISSUE. I HAVE OVER $650.00 TIED UP IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM ON THIS TRUCK ONLY BECAUSE I DO MY OWN WORK, IF I WENT TO THE DEALER WHO KNOWS WHAT IT WOULD COST ME. *TR
THE ABS LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF FREQUENTLY. I BROUGHT TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT ITS BECAUSE THE HUB BEARING AND WHEEL SENSORS ARE RUBBING AGAINST ABS LIGHT WIRE TO CAUSE IT TO TURN ON. AND THERE IS A BULLETIN FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT NOT RECALL SO I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. NOT MY PROBLEM THAT GM KNOWS OF PROBLEM WITH HUB BEARING RUBBING MY ABS LIGHT WIRE. WHEN ABS LIGHT IS ON MY ABS BRAKES DO NOT WORK. THIS CANT BE SAFE THE ABS COMING ON AND OFF AS YOU DRIVE. NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. ABS BRAKING SYSTEM. WHEN IT IS SANDY,WET,SLIPPERY OUT I GO TO APPLY MY BRAKES IT MAKES A ERRN NOISE AND THE TRUCK DOES NOT STOP FOR 8-10 FT AFTER THAT I HAVE BEEN IN 3 MINOR FENDER BENDERS. I HAVE BROUGHT THIS TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES TO LOOK AT IT AND THEY TELL ME THAT THIS IS HOW IT WORKS(NOT STOPPING ? ) IS THERE A PLACE I CAN GO TO GET THIS CHECKED OUT. *TR
PURCHASED 2005 COLORADO WITH 33,000 VEHICLE MAY 2008. LESS THAN A YEAR LATER THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON WITH THE ABS LIGHT FLASHING ON DIC. THERE ARE OTHER COMPLAINTS ON FILE WITH NHTSA ABOUT THIS VERY SAME PROBLEM BUT STILL NO RECALL, SOME RESULTING IN CRASHES. SPOKE WITH CHEVROLET YESTERDAY BUT THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I GUESS THERE HAS TO BE MORE CRASHES OR SOME DEATHS TO GET A RECALL ON THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION! THERE IS NOW 49,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
AFTER RE-LINING REAR BRAKES THEY LOCK UP AND GRAB AFTER ABOUT 1000 MILES. RELINING HAS BEEN DONE TWO TIMES BY REPAIR SHOP, SAME CONDITIONS AFTER NOTED MILEAGE. BRAKES ARE EVEN WORSE WHEN IT RAINS OR DURING HIGH HUMIDITY CONDITIONS. LOCK UP AND/OR GRABBING TENDS TO CAUSE TEMPORARY LOSS OF CONTROL ON WET SURFACES. REPAIR SHOP HAS INQUIRED TO MANUFACTURER REGARDING THIS CONDITION, MANUFACTURER IS AWARE THAT THIS CONDITION EXISTS, BUT STATES THAT THEY HAVE NOT ISSUED ANY TSB'S OR RECALLS. I SPOKE WITH SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL, THEY TOO ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME CONDITIONS. INCIDENTS WITH THIS PROBLEM HAVE BEEN PREVALENT FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS. *TR
WHEN WE WOULD START THE TRUCK IN THE MORNING THE ABS FAULT LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND WHEN YOU PUSHED ON THE BRAKE IT FELT LIKE THE ROTORS WERE WARPED THEN THE BRAKES WOULD LOCK UP. IN SLICK CONDITIONS THE TRUCK WOULD LOSE CONTROL. *TR
FRONT ROTORS HAS GOUGES AT APPROIMATELY . 28000 MILES. DEALER TURNED ROTORS. WHY WERE THE ROTORS GETTING GOUGED? TURNING THEM DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. ONE TIME REAR BRAKES LOCKED. DEALER FIXED THEM. REAR BRAKES RUBB ED ALL TIMES WHEN STOPPING. DEALER TURNED THE DRUMS. ON 6/28/07 REAR BRAKES LOCKE D AGAIN. DEALER STATED VECHICLE IN 4H, MAY BE A SWITCH, TO KEEP AN EYE ON IT IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN THEY WILL REPLACE. ALL THIS TOOK PLACE IN APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH PERIOD. AS OF YET PROBLEM WA SNOT CORRECTED. NOTE: OWNER DID NOT PUT VEHICLE IN 4H.*AK
WHEN INSTALLING NEW BRAKE PADS I NOTICED THE DRIVERS SIDE SLIDER BOLT HANGS UP AND WAS ACTUALLY FROZEN. BOUGHT A NEW PIN AND WHEEL BRACKET. THIS UNIT WAS STILL TOO TIGHT AND HAD TO REAM IT ALITTLE TO GET IT TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. *TR
16000 MILES ON VEHICLE ROTORS ARE WARPED AND DEALERSHIP WILL NOT REPLACE. BRAKE PADS ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION HARDLY NO WARE. DEALER WANTS TO TURN AND I FEEL NOT A GOOD SIGN WITH A VEHICLE THAT ONLY HAS 16000 MILES. THE WARRANTY IS 36K MILES BUMPER TO BUMPER, DEALER STATES ONLY 12K MILES ALLOWED ON ROTORS. VEHICLE HAS HESITATION WHEN BRAKES ARE BEING APPLIED. *JB
ON OCTOBER 18TH IN THE MORNING I WAS DRIVING BY CHEVROLET COLORADO 2005, AND THE BRAKE FLUID LIGHT CAME ON DURING DRIVING. WITHIN MINUTES, I LOST ALL ABILITY TO BREAK. THE VEHICLE HAD AROUND 50K MILES ON IT AT THE TIME. UPON INSPECTION AT THE NEAREST PLACE OF REPAIR, MY ENTIRE RIGHT REAR BREAK DRUM (THE PISTON) HAD BURST AND LEAKED ALL OF THE FLUID FROM THE BREAK LINES INTO THE DRUM. THE RESULTING METAL FRAGMENTS HAD GROUND INTO THE DRUM AND CAUSED MASSIVE FAILURE OF THE ENTIRE SYSTEM. THIS ALL RESULTED IN MY BEING UNABLE TO BRAKE WHILE DRIVING, AND I ALMOST WRECKED THE VEHICLE INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE AT 50 MILES PER HOUR. I HAD TO ROLL MY VEHICLE INTO A NEARBY SHOP AND HAVE IT FIXED. THERE IS NO WAY THIS SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED. I AM A MECHANIC AND FAILURES LIKE THIS AT SUCH LOW MILES ARE UNHEARD OF. CHEVROLET DIDN'T EVEN HAVE THE PARTS (AT ANY DEALERSHIP IN SC) TO DEAL WITH THE REPAIR, AND THE GENTLEMAN AT THE DEALERSHIP COULDN'T BELIEVE IT HAD HAPPENED BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T EVEN REPLACED ANY BRAKE PADS FOR THESE VEHICLES YET. EXCESSIVE WEAR REAR BRAKES, AND GLAZED FRONT ROTOR AND PADS. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED AFTER THE VEHICLE HAD 2,000 MILES THE BRAKES BEGAN TO GRAB AND WOULD NOT STOP AT THE INTENDED STOPPING POINT. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES, THE REAR DRUMS, CYLINDER PISTONS, PADS, AND SHOES HAVE BEEN REPLACED, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. THE MANUFACTURER SUGGESTED THE VEHICLE BE TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR FURTHER REPAIRS.
BRAKES LOCK AND GRIND WHEN THE TRUCK IS STOPPED AT SLOW SPEEDS. STEERING WHEEL TURNS SOMEWHAT TO ONE SIDE WHEN THIS HAPPENS. HAPPENS MOSTLY IN WET WEATHER BUT ALSO HAPPENS IN DRY WEATHER. HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY SAY NOTHING IS WRONG. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE BRAKING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS IN THE RAIN, THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS TO BE PUMPED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP SENT A SERVICE MAN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE, WHO DETERMINED THE BRAKES ARE LOCKED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED AT THE DEALERSHIP.
APPLIED BRAKES AT STOP SIGN, BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR, TRUCK FAILED TO STOP, TRUCK WENT OUT ONTO BUSY STATE ROUTE, HAD TO THROW TRUCK INTO REVERSE, IN ORDER TO PREVENT HITTING ANOTHER CAR. SURE GLAD OUR SON WHO JUST GOT HIS PERMIT DECIDED NOT TO DRIVE. HAD TOWED TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION, THEY SAID THE RIGHT FRONT BRAKE HOSE HAD BURST, TRUCK ONLY HAS 10,446 MILES ON IT. *NM
2005 CHEVROLET COLORADO TRUCK HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS AS THE GM TRUCKS RECALLED FOR BRAKE DEFECTS. *TS THE BRAKES ON THE CONSUMERS VEHICLE GRAB, LOCK UP AND GRIND. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE BRAKES FELT SOFT, AND THERE WAS A METAL-ON-METAL SQUEALING WHILE BRAKING NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER AND THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED 17 TIMES. THE DEALER DETERMINED THERE WAS PREMATURE WEAR ON BRAKES. THE MOST RECENT TIME THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, THE BRAKES WERE WORN AFTER 2 WEEKS. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE WEAR.
BACK BRAKES WERE GONE. REPLACED ON THIS DAY. ON JUNE 19 2005 BRAKES WERE LEAKING FLUID, CYLINDER WAS GONE AND ENTIRE BACK BRAKES WAS REPLACED. JULY 2005 BACK BRAKES WERE GONE AGAIN, REPLACED AGAIN. OCTOBER 2005 BOTH BACK AND FRONT BRAKES WERE GONE AND REPLACED AGAIN. JAN. 16TH 2006 BACK BRAKES ARE GONE AGAIN. *NM
NOTICED AFTER DRIVING ON FREEWAY FOR A WHILE THAT SMALL VIBRATION IN STEERING WHEEL OCCURRED WITH LOW CABIN RUMBLE. FIRST TIME THE VIBRATION WAS ENOUGH TO MAKE ME THINK I HAD A TIRE COMING APART. WHAT WAS ACTUALLY HAPPENING IS MY FRONT BRAKES HAD APPLIED THEMSELVES SLIGHTLY AND WERE GETTING VERY HOT. UPON BRAKING STEERING WHEEL SHOOK BACK AND FORTH VERY HARD. HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE VEHICLE WAS NEW. IS 13 MONTHS OLD NOW. DEALER HAS REPLACED MASTER CYLINDER, POWER BRAKE BOOSTER, BOTH ROTORS, BRAKE SHOES. HAS MADE NO DIFFERENCE, EVERYTIME I DRIVE ANY DISTANCE ON THE FREEWAY THE BRAKES GET VERY HOT. I CANNOT HOLD MY HAND ON EITHER FRONT WHEEL BUT A FEW SECONDS. ROTORS STEAM AND HISS IF I SQUIRT WATER ON THEM. IS CURRENTLY IN THE DEALER THE FOURTH TIME AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON. I GET LOTS OF BLACK POWDER ON MY WHEELS AFTER DRIVING ON FREEWAY 60 MILES. *NM
RATTLING NOISE THAT APPEARS TO BE COMING FROM THE BED OR THE FRAME. NOISE IS MOSTLY HEARD IN COOLER TEMPS/LIGHTLY HEARD WHEN TEMP REACH ABOVE 85 DEGREES//WHEN PUTTING FOOT ON BRAKE; IT FEELS LIKE THE BRAKE HAS SOME RESISTANCE AND TRUCK DOESN'T WANT TO STOP. *JB
THE BRAKES (WITH ABS) LOCK UP, MOSTLY WHEN IT'S WET OUT, BUT WILL ALSO DO IT WHEN DRY. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ABS COMPUTER, AND HAS MADE ADJUSTMENTS, BUT IT STILL DOES IT. *NM
THE BRAKING SYSTEM IN COLORADO TRY TO STOP AND THE BRAKES GRAB AND SEEM TO LET GO AND GRAB AGAIN TO STOP SPEED ABOUT 30 TO 35MPH THERE IS PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES I HIT SOMEONE. *JB
DT:THE CONTACT STATED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL ARE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER. WHEN HE MOVES FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO THE BRAKE PEDAL THE SOUL OF HIS SHOE HANGS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THERE IS NOT ENOUGH ROOM BETWEEN THE TWO PEDALS. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THE VEHICLE IS DESIGNED FOR SOMEONE WITH SMALLER FEET. THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS A CURVED ARM AND THIS NEEDS TO BE MOVED ABOUT ONE INCH. THIS HAPPENS 25 TO 50 PERCENT OF THE TIME.*AK UPDATED 11/29/05. *JB
FRONT BRAKES SHOWED WEAR AT 7000 MILES OIL CHANGE, PARTS HAD TO BE SPECIAL ORDERED , TOLD TO DRIVE VEHICLE TIL THEY ARRIVED,, ON 1/4/2005 PART INSTALLED AND MECHANIC TEST DROVE, AND REAR DRUM DRUM BRAKES FAILED,(PISTONS "BLEW OUT" OF CYLINDERS) I HAVE NEVER SEEN A BRAKE SYSTEM THAT WAS DESIGNED SO IF THE SHOES WORE OUT AND "SCORED" THE DRUMS THE PISTONS WOULD LEAVE THE CYLINDERS ,, CAUSING THE LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID AND EVEN WITH ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM , CAUSE VERY POOR BRAKING, (THINK IF THIS HAPPENED AT HIGH SPEED ON AN EXPRESSWAY,, WITH A FAMILY IN THE VEHICLE),.,.SUDDENLY NO REAR BRAKES,,,,,,,,AND IN MY OPIONON,, JUST A COUPLE OF MILIMETERS MORE LENGTH ON THE CYLINDERS AND PISTION COULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM,.. BUT CHEVY ALTHOUGH REPLACING THE PARTS , SAYS IT WAS DUE TO WEAR. (I AM A US POSTAL RURAL CARRIER) I SAY IT IS A DESIGN FAULT, MINE JUST HAPPENED SOONER , AND MAYBE IN TIME TO SAVE SOME LIVES IF THEY "FIX" THE PROBLEM. *AK
CONTACT STATES: STEPPED ON BRAKES AND THEY FAILED, NEVER SLOWED DOWN ,AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 30-35 MPH IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. THIS WAS THE FIRST INCIDENT OF THIS SORT WITH THE VEHICLE. IT HAD EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO FRONT END WITH NO REPAIRS, IS CURRENTLY IN SHOP AWAITING AN INSPECTION FROM GMC WITHIN THE NEXT 14 DAYS. *AK
