Vehicle unexpectedly stalled 10/5/2024 while driving at 45 mph on a highway. It would not restart. We were able to get to the side of the road and call for a tow truck. It was towed to the dealer where we purchased. It sat in the parking lot for a few days and they were able to restart it. The dealer could not find anything wrong. On 12/19/2025 the vehicle again unexpectedly stalled doing 50 mph on a three lane highway. It would not start. With a lot of beeping and cutting off upset drivers we were able to get the car off the road. We again had it towed to the dealer where we bought it new. They found there was a faulty fuel pump driver module. They replaced the module and we picked up and paid $386.62. It seems to be running fine now, but found this issue is a recall for many equinoxes with the same car years but my vin is not listed in the recall. I also see the replacement modules are being recalled. This is a dangerous situation for myself, my family, passengers and others on the road. This vehicle dies with no warning. No lights go on. It just plain stops running. No one should have to pay for this repair no matter the vin. Note this equinox has less than 60,000 miles on it.
Faulty fuel pump caused my vehicle to shut down while driving.
Driving down the interstate my 2022 chevrolet equinox LT lost all propulsion and shut off. I was able to get pulled over to the side of the road had to have my vehicle towed. Vehicle was repaired after a week at the dealership the problem was the fuel pump module again. This is the 2nd time the fuel pump modulehas went out in 2 years.
Car would not turn over only grinning noise. Stranded in parking lot. Had to have car towed to dealer. They replaced the fuel pump. The car would not start again 2 days later. I was stranded again. I kept trying and it finally started. It stopped intraffic just died on the way home. Before help came I got it started and made it home. I had it towed to the dealer again. This time they said it is the fuel pump modular. The fuel pump cost me $1300.00 and norw the charge will be $400.00. SOME 2022 Equinox were recalled but mine was not included. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECA.LED. MY EQUINOX ONLYHAS 13,000 MILES THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
On July 23, 2025 My Equinox quit running as I was pulling out into an intersection. After several attempts to restart with no success I called my roadside assistance provider and had the Equinox towed to a repair facility. After diagnostics on July 24, 2025 it was determined that the Fuel Pump Control Module had failed. The Module was replaced and reprogrammed. After the repair was completed it was brought to my attention that there was a recall issued on "some" 2022 Equinox 's but not all 2022 Equinox 's. My VIN was not included in the recall but suffered the same failure as the recalled units. No warning lights or symptoms prior to the failure. This continues to be a safety issue because without warning the vehicles just stop running. The Equinox had 45,939 miles on the odometer at the time of the failure. This in a know safety issue and GM should have included all 2022 Equinox 's or at least a broader range of VINs in the initial recall.
My vehicle has trouble starting and once it starts it dies within a minute or less. Check engine light is on. Code was showing the fuel pump module. Had it towed to the dealership to confirm exactly what the issue is.
Vehicle engine ceased operation suddenly at highway speed on busy interstate highway making it very difficult for operator to safely get vehicle to shoulder of interstate and creating a dangerous situation for vehicle occupants and everyone involved in transporting occupants and removing the vehicle from interstate shoulder dealer service repairing vehicle indicated problem was fuel control module failure and occurs often in many late model Chevrolet vehicles
On August 16, 2025, my 2022 Chevy Equinox experience an engine stall while I was driving with no warning, no prior check engine light. This was very scary for my own safety but more importantly my child’s safety who was in the back seat. Had I not been able to move my car to the side of the road or had we been on one of Atlanta’s major interstates this could have been a fatal accident for the both of us. I immediately took my car to the dealership where I purchased this car brand new off the truck and have had it serviced ever since. Not only did I take it, I took it there with a recall notice (N222372310) for 21-22 Chevy Equinox experience engine stalls due to a faulty fuel pump module. The dealership informed me that this recall “did not apply” to my VIN. And I had to place it under my warranty and pay my $200 deductible for them to diagnose that in fact my fuel pump module was bad and needed to be replaced, nothing else.
The fuel pump is not consistently providing fuel to the engine and causing the engine to stall while driving. The fuel pump is not properly functioning.
We where driving to do some errands I noticed the engine light came on. Then the engine cut off. Took it to a garrage near by they did a scan said it is my fuel pump. I was told to check to see if there was a recall on this. I checked there is a recall on this problem. I called the number it said to call. Gave them my Vin. Number said my Vin number was not on the list. 2022 Chevy equinox LT. Why isn't it on the list it has the problem described on recall. Michael bethea dillon sc
While driving on the highway, the vehicle lost power with no warning. Was able to get it to the side of the road and had it towed to dealership. The found the fuel pump module was at fault. Had it replaced and 2 weeks later the check engine light came on and same diagnostic code came up for the fuel pump module. (had just been replaced). Took to dealership again and they replaced the module again stating it could be a faulty part. Now again 3 weeks later the check engine light is on again. Same diagnostic code came up again stating it is the fuel pump module. Car is currently at the dealership for the third time in 6 weeks for the same issue. Thankfully there has been no personal injury involved but the car stopping while driving on a Highway is very dangerous and scary. This is definitely a crash risk for the driver /passengers and others on the roadway.
Fuel pump went out.
Keep having fuel pump issues.
At a stop sign while waiting for passing traffic, the car shuddered and the engined died. Attempts to restart the car failed. The car had roughly 1/4 tank of gas. Towed to a mechanic who put 2 gallons of gas in it and started the engine. Two days leading up to this, with the instrument panel on the screen that shows estimated distance remaining and fuel economy, I observed the fuel economy number changing wildly as I drove, going up to 99 mpg every time I let off the gas and coasted to a stop. Seems to be an electronic component for fuel has failed. When the car had died, the engine light came on. It was off after adding more fuel and restarting the car. NHTSA website says there are 0 outstanding recall repairs for this VIN. So if the faulty fuel pump was replaced under NHTSA Campaign 23V013000, it has failed again. NHTSA website does not show any date/location of said prior recall repairs, so I have doubts whether it was ever actually repaired.
We were in our pharmacy drive thru pick up lane when our car suddenly died, and would not restart. No engine light came on prior. We waited three hours for our tow truck in 99 degree weather to take it to the nearest dealership. Had the fuel pump power control module and also the fuel tank fuel pump module replaced. Now back at dealership, as the fuel gauge is being repaired. Our car evidently didn't show up as needing the fuel pump module recalled. $2000 later, I wonder why not?
On two separate instances the vehicle stalled and shut off. Once on a highway at 65mph. Second failure was on a private road at 15mph. Both instances were in a 1 week period.
Press on the gas and car doesn’t move. Seems to not get gas sometimes while driving
While driving at interstate speed the car slowed and presented a 'engine decelerating' light on instrument cluster. We were barely able to get off the interstate without getting hit. Car coasted to a stop and died. Half tank of gas and no recent work other than oil change 6000miles prior. Had it towed to dealership where they found the fuel pump module had died. Same as recall no: 23V013000. However, our VIN is not included in that recall. Dealer repaired at no charge.
Vehicle stalled and stop running while accelerating at a busy intersection and created a hazardous situation in traffic. Had to push the car off the road. Car would not start again so called for a tow. The Equinox was taken to a nearby Chevrolet dealership. I ran a tester on it and the error code was P129F, Fuel Pump Driver Control Module, Fuel Pump Speed Signal Incorrect. In doing a search, I discovered there was a recall for 2022 Equinox for this issue however I never received a notice for my 2022 Equinox. This put me in danger as well as two of my children who were riding with me. I'm extremely dissappointed and alarmed that Chevy did not send a letter with the recall. The dealership apparently repaired it under warranty and not under a recall which is disturbing to me since they may be "under-reporting" this problem.
My parents are elderly [XXX] ). While driving on [XXX] the engine just stalled without any warning. No warning lights or anything. After many trys, was able to restart the vehicle and it sputtered to edge of the road (emergency lane) and shut off again. After that, vehicle would not start again. Towed vehicle 27 miles to Uvalde TX. Dealership confirmed Fuel Module. Warranty was expired by 2 days. Cost quoted at $650. Currently working to get extended warranty to cover the repairs. Called 911 and Medina County / Uvalde Sheriff dept responded to get them to safety. Stalled approx .2 miles west of [XXX] west of D'hanis, TX. Between D'hanis and Sabinal. Employee started vehicle, backed out of the parking space, drove 4 - 6 feet and the engine died. Employee was able to coast back into another parking space safely. Attempted to restart the vehicle, engine would not start. Support Services within the organization was informed and was able to get the vehicle to the dealership for inspection. Per the repair order detail attached, the technicians found that it was a fuel pump issue; found in 3 other of our 2022 Chevrolet Equinox vehicles (4 total). This is a major concern. Luckily the vehicle malfunctioned while still in the parking lot. Could have been a major life threatening situation if the employee was on the road.
Employee was driving across the county to their office when the check engine light and all 4 tire pressure lights came on. She was able to make it back to the office where she informed the Support Services department of the organization. A Support Services employee was able to come out and drive the vehicle to the dealership for an inspection. The tech informed our employee that it was very good that we brought the vehicle in when we did and were lucky the engine did not die while an employee was driving. Per the repair order detail attached, the technicians found that it was a fuel pump issue; found in 3 other of our 2022 Chevrolet Equinox vehicles (4 total). In this instance, the vehicle did not shut off while driving. Considering two of our other vehicles shut off and created a highly dangerous situation for the driver and other drivers around them, we are lucky no one was injured. This is a major concern.
Vehicle stalled and stopped running while turning at a busy road and created a hazardous situation in traffic. I had to have a mandatory tow off the road to my residence. I called the dealership, and car would not start again so called for a tow (which was covered by GM). The Equinox was taken to a nearby Chevrolet dealership. The second tow and repair were covered by GM under Warranty as I had less than 7000 miles on my SUV. Per the documentation provided by the Chevrolet dealership, the Fuel Pump Driver Control Module had to be replaced in my 2022 Chevrolet Equinox. On doing a search on NHTSA, I discovered there was a recall for 2022 Equinox for this issue however it did not apply to my particular VIN. Overall, this incident, in my opinion put me in danger as well as the public who were commuting home and had to avoid my stalled car.
Employee was driving on a state road in the right hand lane going about 45 mph. Short of a red light and a right hand turn lane, the engine began to rumble and promptly shut off. Employee attempted to restart the vehicle, but to no avail. Traffic began piling up and the employee could not remove the vehicle from the road. This was an incredibly dangerous and life threatening situation. Vehicle ended up having to get towed to the dealership Per the repair order detail attached, the technicians found that it was a fuel pump issue; found in 3 other of our 2022 Chevrolet Equinox vehicles (4 total). This is a major concern.
Employee was driving on a state road, about 55-60 miles per hour. They received an error message and a check engine light appeared. Immediately thereafter, the engine "died" and the vehicle began to decelerate. They were forced to pull off onto the grass on the side of the road. The power remained functional, but the engine wouldn't work. Support Services team within the organization was informed and was able to restart the engine after a few tries, eventually driving the vehicle directly to the dealership to be looked at. Employee felt unsafe due to the engine "shutting off" while on a high MPH state road and having to pull off on the side of that road (a two lane state road). Potential life threatening hazard for the driver and other drivers around. Per the repair order detail attached, the technicians found that it was a fuel pump issue; found in 3 other of our 2022 Chevrolet Equinox vehicles (4 total). This is a major concern.
