I HAVE GOTTEN IN TOUCH WITH GM AND CHEVROLET CUSTOMER SERVICE AND MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO HAVE REFUSED TO CORRECTLY DIAGNOSE MY ISSUE. I HAVE BEEN CHARGED 99$ PER VISIT TO JONES CHEVROLET AND STILL HAVE THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT ON MY VEHICLE. IT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME AND INTERMITTENTLY GOES AWAY ONCE IN A BLUE MOON. IT STARTED OFF WITH THE LIGHT JUST TURNING ON WHEN I HIT A BUMP OR A ROUGH ROAD BUT NOW EVEN ON THE HIGHWAY IT COMES ON. GM CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLD ME THAT AN AIR BAG ISSUES IS THE CUSTOMERS RESPONSIBILITY AFTER MY WARRANTY IS UP HOWEVER THE AIR BAG HAS NEVER DEPLOYED OR THE CAR HAS NEVER GOTTEN INTO AN ACCIDENT SO I AM AT A LOSS AS TO WHY IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE REPAIR OF SUCH AN INTEGRAL SAFETY PART OF THE VEHICLE WHICH SHOULD LAST AND FUNCTION WITHOUT ISSUES FOR AT LEAST A LITTLE WHILE IF NOT FOR A LONG TIME AFTER THE INITIAL WARRANTY IS UP. I HAVE NOW SPEND IN THE UPWARDS OF $800 OUT OF POCKET TO TRY AND GET THIS ISSUE RESOLVED BUT GM HAS NOT BEEN COOPERATIVE AT ALL. I HAD TO LEAVE 5 VOICEMAILS TO AN ADVISOR TO CALL ME BACK AND SHE AND HER SUPERVISOR RUDELY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE GIVEN ME A RESOLUTION AND IF GOD FORBID I GOT IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIR BAG NEEDED TO DEPLOY BUT DIDN'T DO SO IT WOULD BE ON ME AND GM WONT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF MY PASSENGERS. I HAVE TRANSCRIPTS OF SERVICE AND RECORDED CALL FROM THEM TO PROVE THIS. PLEASE ASSIST.

WHILE AT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR REPAIR, THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED CAUSING THE CONTACT TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A GUARD RAIL AND ROLLED OVER. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART. THE CONTACT DID NOT DISCLOSE IF A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OR NOT. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED WHIPLASH ALL OVER THE BODY THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 14V355000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. 2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO RECALL REPAIR. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2014. HOWEVER, THE REPAIR ONLY LAST FOR ABOUT 10 MILES. THE DEALER STATED THERE WAS PROBABLY SOMETHING ELSE WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STAY IN THE RUN POSITION WHICH RESULTED IN LOSS OF ENGINE POWER.*JB

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE DRASTICALLY DECELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT HAD TO MERGE TO THE SHOULDER AS THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO SLOW DOWN. THE AIR BAG SENSOR ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN RESET THE SENSORS, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE ACC SENSOR, PEDAL ASSEMBLY, AIR BAG IMPACT MODULE, AND THE WIRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,056.

AIR BAG ALARM LIGHT TURNED ON AND WAS ALARMING FOR MORE THAN ONE WEEK, ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR ISSUES WERE DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALERSHIP, DEALERSHIP IDENTIFIED FRETTING FAILURES. CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP ACKNOWLEDGED THAT MY VEHICLE IS A TARGET FOR IGNITION SWITCH UPDATE HOWEVER THEY INFORMED ME THAT NO RESOLUTION TO THE IGNITION SWITCH FOR MY VEHICLE WOULD BE HONORED FOR MY CAR. NEITHER WAS THERE ANY FURTHER EXPLANATION FOR RESOLUTION NOR WAS THERE ANY RECOMMENDED SAFE RESOLUTION FOR ME TO EXECUTE. *TR

AT ABOUT 50000 MILES THE REAR DOOR ACTUATOR BEGAN TO WORK INTERMITTENTLY. WITHIN MONTHS IT DID NOT WORK AT ALL. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS EXPENSIVE TO FIX. AT ABOUT 66000 MILES THE SERVICE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT BEGAN TO COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. AT 68000 MILES I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS AN ACTUATOR. I REPLACED IT AT A COST OF $400. HE SAID I COULD REPLACE THE REAR DOOR ACTUATOR FOR ANOTHER $400 WHICH I ELECTED NOT TO DO. WHEN I SAW A NEWS ARTICLE ABOUT AN ELDERLY, DISABLED MAN TRAPPED IN HIS CHEVROLET IMPALA BECAUSE OF A DEFECTIVE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR, I REALIZED THAT THIS MIGHT BE A FREQUENT PROBLEM TO BE ADDRESSED. *TR
