WHEN ASKED WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WARRANTY RUNS OUT AND PROBLEM STILL EXISTS, DEALER SAYS THAT PROBLEM WOULD THEN BE A MANUFACTURER'S PROBLEM ,AND WORK FOR THIS WOULD NO LONGER BE COVERED UNLESS MANUFACTURER OF PART IS WILLING TO SHELL OUT EXPENSE. I BELIEVE IF THEY ARE SELLING A CAR WITH DEFECTIVE COMPONENTS TO THE POINT THAT THEY HAVE RELEASED 2 SETS OF UPDATED PARTS, THEN DEALER SHOULD STILL HONOR ANY WORK IN THE FUTURE WHICH IS CAUSED BY SAME PROBLEM WHICH HAS BEEN OCCURRING LONG BEFORE WARRANTY RAN OUT. DEALER SHOULD THEN CONTEST WITH PART MANUFACTURE ABOUT SENDING THEM DEFECTIVE PARTS TO BUILD THEIR AUTOMOBILES WITH, INSTEAD OF CUSTOMER HAVING TO GO THROUGH PART MANUFACTURER THEMSELVES. I AM VERY DISPLEASED WITH THE ANSWERS I HAVE BEEN GETTING FROM DEALER. *AK
WHENEVER STOPPING VEHICLE, CAN FEEL THE BRAKE PEDAL PULSATING. NEEDED TO PUSH HARDER ON PEDAL TO GET VEHICLE TO STOP. THE ABS LIGHT WOULD FLASH ON/OFF. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER & MECHANIC CHANGED THE BRAKE PADS. THE ROTORS WERE ROTATED AT LEAST TWICE & THEN SCRAPPED. *AK

AFTER INITIAL 2000 MILES VEHICLE SHIMMIES SEVERELY (STEERING WHEELS PUSES BACK AND FORTH) WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. VEHICLE BRAKES UNEVENLY WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED AT SLOW SPEEDS. DEALER FAILED TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM ON FIRST TWO ATTEMPTS. ON THIRD ATTEMPT DEALER DIAGNOSED WORN, PITTED ROTORS AFTER 4000 MILES. ROTORS REPLACED. AFTER NEXT 3000 MILES CONDITION RECURRED. DEALER FOUND ROTORS WORN AND PITTED AGAIN. DEALER RESURFACED ROTORS. AFTER NEXT 3000 MILES CONDITION HAS RECURRED. DEALER REFUSES TO REPAIR UNDER WARRANTEE. THIS CONDITION SO SEVERE THAT IT COULD CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL IN SLICK ROAD CONDITIONS. ALSO WONDER HOW THIS CONDITION MIGHT INTERACT WITH ABS SYSTEM. I NOTICE THERE ARE 6 SIMILAR COMPLAINTS IN YOUR DATABASE FOR THIS PARTICULAR MODEL YEAR.
PREMATURE FAILURE OF FRONT DISC BRAKES AND ROTORS CAUSING FRONT OF CAR TO VIBRATE WHEN THE BRAKES APPLIED. NLM
CAR SHIMMIES WHEN BRAKES APPLIED, HAD ROTORS TURNED AND PADS REPLACED AT 28,000, NOW FAILING AGAIN, ROTORS WARPED AND NEED REPLACED. FOUND MANY OTHER OWNERS OF THIS MAKE HAVING SAME PROBLEM BUT MANUFECTURER WILL NOT ADMIT TO DEFECT OR COVER UNDER WARRANTY. WHAT'S THE DEAL? ARE THEY NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR SAFETY IN THESE VEHICHLES? PLEASE ADVISE.
I REALLY NEED TO TALK TO SOMEONE FOR A BETTER DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF MY PROBLEM. NO SAFETY DEFECT LISTED IN SUMMARY.
BRAKE ROTORS CONTINUALLY FAILING.
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT ANY MPH AND WHEN STARTING TO RAIN, CONSUMER STEPS ON THE BRAKES, AND THE VEHICLE WANDERS FROM SIDE TO SIDE. SOMETIMES CONSUMER LOSES CONTROL OF VEHICLE.
EVERY 6000 TO 10000 MILES THE BRAKE ROTORS WILL WARP, CAUSING A SHIMMY AT 70 MPH. THIS IS 4 TIMES IN LESS THAN 1 YEAR AND 30000 MILES DRIVEN. GM SAYS NOTHING IS WRONG. *AK

WE BOUGHT A 98 MALIBU IN FEB 99 W/20K MILES. SOON AFTER WE NOTICED A SLIGHT VIBRATION IN BRAKING.I HAD IT CHECKED AND ROTORS ARE WARPED. I WAS TOLD THIS WAS COMMON IN MALIBUS AND THAT THE PROBLEM HAS EXISTED SINCE THEY CAME OUT IN 97.THIS WAS FROM THE SERV. DEPT MGR AT ADAMS CHEVROLET IN RAYTOWN, MO HE SAYS HE SEES SEVERAL MALIBUS EVERY WEEK FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, AND THAT IT WASN'T COVERED BY WARRANTY OR MANUF. RECALL. ONLY IF THE PROBLEM BEGINS WITHING 12K MILES. IT WAS AS IF I WAS JUST SUPPOSED TO ACCEPT THIS..EVEN THOUGH WE PAID $14,000 FOR THIS CAR. GM BRAGS THAT THE CAR CAN GO UP TO 100K MILES WITHOUT A TUNEUP , BUT THEY FORGET TO TELL YOU YOU'LL HAVE TO HAVE THE ROTORS TURNED EVERY YEAR . *AK
SEVERE VIBRATION IN FRONT END WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED ABOVE 60 MPH. I FEEL THIS PROBLEM IS RELATED TO THE EARILER FRONT END RECALL PROBLEM. DEALER WILL CUT ROTORS AND THAT IS IT. I KNOW THIS IS NOT GOING TO FIX THE TRUE PROBLEM BUT IT WILL BE A QUICK FIX THAT MAY LAST THROUGH THE WARRENTY PERIOD. *AK
