I have been an issue with my auto stop system past 6 months. While driving and coming to a complete stop the auto stop kicks into gear as it should but when I release the gas pedal to drive off it stalls for a about 20 seconds unlocking/locking doors and proceeds to kick into drive gear. I have had auxiliary battery checked and it’s good. Checked main battery components those are good too! No check engine light came on only when I removed auxiliary battery removed to have it diagnosed it did give me a code of UO101 but quickly went away when replaced. Still trying to figure what the issue may be but it’s becoming more and more constant and worse. Dangerous when it happens on uphill and cars behind because car rolls backwards almost hitting them.
Auto start stop malfunctioning, my safety as well as my children have been in the car when the car has stopped while in the middle of driving. It has stopped in the middle of the road and on the freeway in moving traffic and for 1-3 minutes the car won’t start back up leaving me and my family stranded in the middle of the road where anyone can and have almost hit us. When I’ve sent the car to my dealer mechanic he told me the car cuts off like that because it runs hot when that is not the reason after he told me that he fixed I drove off and it stopped on me as the light was turning green for traffic to go. The car had the issue about 3 days after i purchased it I’ve which was last year 2024 in June and as of now the issue still hasn’t been fixed by the dealer
Hello. I have a 2014 Malibu. Recently it has been stalling when coming to a stop and yet there are no engine/warning lights on. Took it to numerous mechanics, spoke with people at the dealership service area and yet nothing! Nobody can figure it out at all. I’ve had the throttle body replaced, module piece, and a few other parts by someone who previously worked at the Chevrolet dealership and even they can’t figure it out. This is not only a safety hazard but a very uncomfortable feeling riding a car and having to put it into Neutral when approaching a light or stop sign ! My car will tell me if my turn signal is on for longer than 2-3 minutes so I’m not understanding why it won’t tell me why my car is shutting off. I’m frustrated because I’m paying different mechanics to figure it out and it’s still an unsolved problem! It would be nice if Chevrolet can look at everyone’s vehicle and not charge this time!! I have children so having them ride in a car that stalls is UNACCEPTABLE!
When coming to a complete stop, the auto stop feature kicks on and then stalls the car and won’t restart. Have seen in many online forms that this is a very common problem with these cars
No incident has occurred, thankfully. Car was purchased used in January 2018. It is now approximately about 9 years old. This issue happens intermittently but the electrical systems seem to be misfiring. Basically, it gives false negatives/positives. (1) The check engine comes on and off all the time even after servicing the vehicle with the mechanic. (2) The passenger seat has front airbags that get activated when someone sits in the seat. Lately, the seatbelt alert goes off while nothing heavy is in the seat. I have to latch the seatbelt to get that alert to stop. (3) The automatic lights that come on when you open the door sometimes don't turn on and the auto lights indicator is on. (4) Lately, when I have turned off the engine and opened the door, the radio won't turn off even after I have removed the keys. Electrical malfunctions could be happening due to the wrong wires being installed or something and may cause the car not to work any longer. I'm not sure but I don't want to encounter issues while I'm driving.

THE AUTO STOP SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS SHUTS OFF AT RED LIGHTS AND DOES NOT ENGAGE WHEN BRAKE RELEASED AND GAS PEDAL PUSHED. THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF COMPLETELY AND HAS TO BE PUT IN PARK AND RESTARTED IN TRAFFIC WHICH CAN BE DEADLY. THERE'S NO WAY TO DISENGAGE THIS IS NOT A GOOD FEATURE.
2014 Malibu will turn to auto stop then off while reversing or getting out of a parking spot in general. Rarely, it will stop in traffic when waiting at a red light, but 99% of the time when coming out of a parking spot. It will also bounce and/or rock when stopped in drive. This has been going on since about January 2022 as far as I realize.
The HVAC system is not functioning. In July of 2021, the air conditioner would not turn off at all. The car cannot be driven at all if it is cold outside and the windows frost over as you cannot turn on the heater to defrost them. Even if they aren't frosted over, it's too cold now to drive with the air conditioner on. There was a recall with other 2014 Chevy Malibu's, but not for my car, but it is the same problem as the other recall. It is available for inspection. I called GM and they were not helpful at all. No warning lamps or messages prior to the problem. Can take to a dealership when the weather is warm enough. Had to disengage the blower motor.
WHEN THE AUTO STOP KICKS IT AT LIGHT THE CAR SHUTS OFF COMPLETELY AND TAKES A FEW MINUTES TO RESTART WITH MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO TURN THE KEY. THIS IS A ACCIDENT HAZARD AND THE 2014 MALIBU HAVE NO OPTION TO TURN OFF THE AUTO STOP LIKE THE NEWER CARS.. BEEN HAPPENING FOR A YEAR
MY BLOWER STOPPED WORKING. I REPLACED THE BLOWER MOTOR AND RESISTOR AND NOTICED IT HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED. I BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW, SO I'M GUESSING THEY CAUGHT A RECALL BEFORE THEY SOLD TO ME. AFTER I REPLACED THE BLOWER MOTOR AND RESISTOR, IT WORKED FOR A COUPLE MONTHS, AND THEN STOPPED AGAIN. I'VE NOTICED PEOPLE COMPLAINING OF SIMILAR ISSUES IN ONLINE FORUMS AND AM WONDERING IF IT'S COVERED UNDER SOME SORT OF RECALL OR SOMETHING. PLEASE HELP.
AC AND RADIO COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. NO POWER WHATSOEVER.
WHEN MY AUTO STOP FUNCTION INITIATES MY BATTERY LOSES POWER AND CUTS OFF MY CAR COMPLETELY.
THE DEFROST/HEATER/AIR CONDITION CONTROL DOESN'T WORK. THE VENT SELECTED LIGHTS WORK BUT THE POWER CONTROL DIAL DOESN'T
THE CAR SET ON FIRE AFTER THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. WITHIN MINUTES THE WHOLE CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORTED THE FIRE WAS ELECTRICAL. GM REPORTEDLY INVESTIGATED THE CHARRED REMAINS WEEKS AFTER THE FIRE AND DECLINED TO PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION ON THE INVESTIGATION OR COMPENSATION FOR THE VEHICLE.
THE VEHICLE HAS AN AUTO STOP/START FEATURE THAT ENGAGES WHEN AT REDLIGHT. THE FUNCTION HAS STOPPED WORKING. PAID TO HAVE EXPENSIVE AUXILLARY BATTERY REPLACED AND SYSTEM CHECKED. HOWEVER SYSTEM IS STILL INOPERATIONAL AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME THERE IS NO FIX.
AUXILIARY BATTERY IN THE REAR COMPARTMENT FAILURE CAUSING FIRE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND NOT POWERED ON. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN POWERLESS FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 HOURS PRIOR TO THE FIRE.
I BELIEVE MY 2014 CHEVROLET MALIBU IS EXPERIENCING A MANUFACTURING RECALL INVOLVING DRIVING VISIBILITY ISSUES WITH THE DEFROST/DEFOGGER SYSTEM THAT WAS RECALLED ON ALL 2014 CHEVROLET MALIBU'S MADE BETWEEN 06-2013 AND 11-2013. THE RECALL NUMBER I FOUND FOR THAT WAS #13V567000 AND THE RECALL CAME OUT ON 11-13-2013. THE EXACT DESCRIPTION FOR THIS RECALL STATES, ''THE HEATING, VENTILATION, AND AIR CONDITIONING (HVAC) CONTROL IN THESE VEHICLES MAY INTERMITTENTLY BECOME INOPERABLE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED, PREVENTING THE WINDSHIELD DEFROSTER FROM WORKING. THUS, THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD (FMVSS) NO. 103, "WINDSHIELD DEFROSTING AND DEFOGGING SYSTEMS."' MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED IN 09-2013. THE PROBLEM I'M HAVING IS I AM ONLY ABLE INTERMITTENTLY TURN ON MY AIR CONDITIONING, HEAT, AND DEFROST SYSTEM. SOMETIMES IT WILL TURN ON WHEN I TURN THE KNOB WITH THE FAN ICON, AND SOMETIMES IT WON'T TURN ON AT ALL, EVEN FOR PERIODS OF OVER 24 HOURS. NOT ONLY DOES THIS MEAN I CAN NO LONGER CONFIDENTLY CONTROL THE TEMPERATURE OF THE CAR, BUT I CAN'T ALWAYS USE MY DEFROST OPTION EITHER WHICH CREATES A MAJOR VISIBILITY SAFETY ISSUE. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF THE CAR IS IN MOTION OR IF IT IS PARKED FOR THIS TO OCCUR. WHEN THE SYSTEM DOES TURN ON, EVERYTHING WORKS FINE. THIS IS A CAR I'M STILL PAYING ON AND I'M NOT EVEN GAURAUNTEED TO BE ABLE TO USE THIS BASIC SAFETY FUNCTION WHEN NEEDED. I CONTACTED MY DEALER AND GAVE MY VIN NUMBER TO THEM, AND UNFORTUNATELY FOR ME THEY SAID MY SPECIFIC CAR WAS NOT APART OF THE 2014 CHEVROLET MALIBU RECALL. I'M ASKING IF MY INCIDENT COULD PLEASE BE INVESTIGATED AND RECONSIDERED AS PART OF THE RECALL CONSIDERING MY ISSUE MATCHES THE EXACT DESCRIPTION OF IT. I'M NOT SURE WHERE TO GO NEXT OR WHAT TO DO ABOUT THIS WHOLE PROCESS. I APPRECIATE AND THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR TIME AND ATTENTION TO MY CONCERN.
WAS DRIVING CAR AND STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT WHEN ALL OF SUDDEN THE CAR JUST TURNED OFF AND EVERYTHING LOCKED UP. THE KEY STAYED STUCK IN THE IGNITION. THE CAR WAS NOT ABLE TO GO INTO NEUTRAL OR PARK. ALL THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUT DOWN. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION TO BE IN. HAD I BEEN ON A HIGHWAY THAT COULD OF GOT ME KILLED!!! MY BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR WERE IN GOOD CONDITION. SO IT DIDN'T MAKE SENSE FOR CAR TO DIE OUT OF NOWHERE.
"TAKATA RECALL" WHEN MY WIFE GOT INTO CAR AND TURNED IT ON SHE TURNED A/C ON AND IT WAS ONLY BLOWING HOT AIR. THEN SHE NOTICED ALL DASH LIGHTS AND GAUGES WERE NOT WORKING AS WELL. IT ALSO GAVE HER LOTS OF PROMPTS SAYING SERVICE AIR BAGS AND OIL. SHE TRIED DRIVING IT DOWN THE STREET AND SHE NOTICED ODOMETER, SPEEDOMETER, AND GAS GAUGES WERE NOT WORKING AS WELL. SHE ALSO SAID THE TOUCHSCREEN FOR RADIO WAS TOTALLY BLACK AND RADIO WAS NOT WORKING. SO SHE BROUGHT IT BACK HOME AND TURNED IT OFF AND RADIO CAME ON AND DID NOT WANT TO TURN OFF EVEN WHILE CAR WAS OFF AND DOORS WERE OPEN. SO I CAME HOME AND TURNED CAR BACK ON AND NOW EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE WORKING PROPERLY. WE DONT KNOW IF THIS IS AN EARLY SIGN OF SOMETHING GOING OUT OR IS GOING TO BE OUT IN THE FUTURE BUT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE YOU CAN BE DRIVING AND WHAT IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN......
WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING AND SOMEONE IS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, ALL GAUGES AND THE RADIO GOES BLACK, EXCEPT FOR THE MIDDLE SCREEN WHICH THEN FLASHED "SERVICE AIR BAG SYSTEM, SERVICE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM, SERVICE PASSENGER MONITORING SYSTEM." I HAVE NO IDEA HOW FAST I AM GOING OR ANYTHING ELSE TO DO WITH THE VEHICLE, HOWEVER THERE IS NO INTERRUPTION OF POWER OR ANY AFFECT TO THE ENGINE. IF THE PASSENGER LIFTS THEMSELVES OFF THE SEAT, THE SYSTEM THEN RESETS AND EVERYTHING RUNS PERFECTLY. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME SOMEONE IS IN THE SEAT. SOMETIMES IT HAPPENS ALOT, AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T HAPPEN FOR DAYS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, I HAVE 6 PAGES OR ERROR CODES SHOWING A LOSS IN COMMUNICATION. I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS POSSIBLY SOMETHING LOOSE OR THAT A SENSOR IS GOING BAD, HOWEVER, THE DEALER IS UNABLE TO LOCATE THIS PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REMOTE CONTROL START FAILED AND THE ALARM SOUNDED. THE CONTACT HAD TO USE THE FUNCTION BUTTON TO RESET THE ALARM. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE REPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
