Was a light frost on mirror and back glass. Turned on rear defroster then all of a sudden back passengers side glass shattered.
Vehicle will cut off as if an electrical short and the Service Stabilitrak indicator will flash on the dashboard along with warning chimes. This has happened twice at highway speed (65mph) and several times at low speed (1st gear) especially while turning. The steering wheel locks and can not be turned. I've almost been involved in 2 accidents this week because the truck turns off while making a turn. Also the MyLink infotainment system screen has gone completely blank while driving. Although functioning, the displays comes on and off. This has happened off and on for 3 months.
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the instrument panel display experienced intermittent malfunctions, causing the display screen to blink off and on, and the display screen lighting to increase to the extreme brightness level. During the failure the speedometer was inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure and no repairs were performed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 33,000.
After air conditioning stopped working today on my 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew High Country, conducted research to find out if others experiencing the same issue. Discovered thousands of pages of complaints and class action suits. Vehicle is 7 years old and just went over 79K. Following several troubleshooting videos and write-ups by technicians, discovered the top weld on the driver's side of the condenser has leaked the refrigerant and made the system inoperable. Since the defective condenser (AC Delco) is no longer being used and a clamp replacement to support the weld was never installed, expect that GM or Chevrolet to replace the defective part.
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the radio in the vehicle had started to switch stations independently. The failure persisted, causing other electrical operations to be affected. The contact stated that occasionally, the failure caused the vehicle to stall while coming to a stop. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the computer controller was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 92,800.
Grounding issue when turning causing the steering wheel to yank the to a random direction and lock up. Multiple Silverado owners have experienced the same issue and I nearly died. Chevy dealer did not identify the issue/ Cannot figure it out.
The ignition switch is defective the truck will not turn on all the time I have to play with the shift lever and key to get it started
Myself, My wife, and my oldest son have all three experienced a loss of complete power in the truck during turns. All power on the dash, steering, and stereo goes out. The last incident required my wife to put the vehicle in park and turn the truck off and back on to get it to start.
I was driving the other day and slowed to an upcoming vehicle, when I tapped the brakes the stabilitrak light flashed and all my dash lights and radio flickered, then when I used my turn signal the same things happened plus the windshield wipers came on, then when I went to merge back into my lane the pickup completely stalled out jerking us forward into our seat belts and then kept going. Later that day I went thru a drive thru and when I was turning the steering wheel jerked and wasn't able to continue turning and the pickup died. I had to lock the steering wheel in order to get it started again. This isn't the only time the first issues have happened or the steering wheel being jerked and stalling out, but this is the first time it completely stalled out in the highway and that is not okay. That is a complete safety issue and I'm not the only one who has had this issue, however when I have talked to a mechanic about it they couldn't find anything wrong and had no answer for me. There are several recalls on the years before the 2016 chevy silverado but nothing for them, and this is a big safety concern.
Truck turns off when going in reverse, sometimes when brake is applied, sometimes when turning left and when left turn signal is on. It usually happened when stopping at a traffic stop or light or when turning left. This time it turned off when changing lanes on the freeway and almost caused a pile up. It was scary and it could have caused a lot of unnecessary mishaps. What happens is the engine turns off completely for a couple of seconds and turns back on. It feels like its a battery cable issue or some bad connection. The problem is the dealer cannot replicate the problem. Sometimes it happens often sometimes it happens every other day. So far I know a couple of other Chevy Silverado owners who have the same problem. I have a video of this problem if you need to see. My name is [XXX]. Email is [XXX]. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
Rear Defroster malfunction. After starting the vehicle smoke was coming from the rear cab of my truck in the area that the power sliding window meets the rest of the rear window. In the same area, one of the metal strips for the defroster was glowing red hot. Seconds later the rear window shattered within inches of my face. There were no warning lights or messages prior to the defroster malfunctioning. The vehicle is yet to be disabled and the dealer refuses to look at the vehicle until the rear window is fixed. There are messages and recalls from the manufacturer for this issue on the same year make and model as my vehicle but for some reason my trucks vin number is not associated with that recall.
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the TPMS warning light illuminated. Additionally, a message was displayed indicating that the driver’s side window be closed. The contact stated that the vehicle then lost motive power and stalled. The contact shifted into park and restarted the vehicle. The contact veered to the side of the road. The contact was able to continue driving; however, the failure reoccurred several times while driving. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring increasingly while driving and he was concerned about his safety as he lived in a mountainous region. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power and stalled. The contact indicated that the failure had occurred on multiple occasions. The contact stated that on one occasion while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power with the power steering and power brake becoming inoperable nearly causing a crash. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the failure was due to a faulty battery cable. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 179,000.
Remote started my vehicle in the morning, made it about a mile down the road, and the center console started fire. Looks to be the wiring/wireless charger on top of the console. Zero warning lamps or warning labels. Safely made it to the side of the road after getting out of traffic, but inhaled quite a bit of white, bitter smoke.
Rear defroster where power sliding window meets started smoking while defroster was in use. Reference TSB# n192265660 rear window defroster thermal events . This is a replica of that issue, but have thus far been told by GM corporate that vehicle is not eligible under the released customer satisfaction program.
Atmospheric temperature, 33 degrees F. Windows slightly frosted. Remote started vehicle and cleared side and front windshield of frost. Entered vehicle, inserted keys and drove approximately 300 ft to drop off mail. While sitting in the vehicle and the vehicle was in park, and running. I heard a very load pop and and observed left side window had shattered. This is the driver side rear window, left side looking from rear of vehicle. The window was bowed out slightly and some loose pieces of glass were observed. This occurred approximately 3 minutes after the initial start of the vehicle. No other damage observed. This vehicle had been previously subject to a recall regarding the powered rear window defroster circuit. The dealer corrected this recall on February 7, 2020.
2016 Chevrolet Silverado LT Crew Cab Standard Box A/C Condenser (GM Part Number 84802253) cracked at weld and failed at approximately 63,000 miles, resulting in refrigerant leaking to atmosphere and loss of cooling. The affected component is very similar to the TSB 17336 from GM on like vehicles. There were no warnings or indicators that signaled that this component had failed. Owner located weld failure independently.
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the air conditioner was engaged but failed to produce cold air. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the condenser had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact stated the vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 74,000.
VEHICLE ENTERTAINMENT CENTER HAS INTERMITTENT ISSUES WITH THE HANDS FREE, BLUETOOTH CONNECTION. THE SYSTEM REVERTS BACK TO NON HANDS-FREE OPERATION OR MUTES THE CALL RANDOMLY. THE ENTERTAINMENT CENTER ALSO RANDOMLY SCROLLS, SELECTS RADIO STATIONS AND CHANGES MODES WHEN NOT IN A CALL. HAPPENS WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AT LOW AND HIGH SPEED, IN ALL ASSOCIATED CONDITIONS. THIS DISTRACTS THE DRIVER AND HAS THE POTENTIAL TO RESULT IN A FATAL ACCIDENT. OTHER CHEVY SILVERADOS OF VARIOUS YEARS EXHIBIT THE SAME ISSUE AS EVIDENCED BY A NUMBER OF INTERNET FORUM AND YOU TUBE POSTS BY OWNERS. A DATE OF OCCURRANCE IS PROVIDED, BUT IT'S HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS.
THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY LOSES POWER FOR A SPLIT SECOND. AFTER THIS INCIDENT HAPPENS, THE DISPLAY SAYS LOWER THEN RAISE THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW ALL THE WAY. THE AMBIENT TEMP READING GOES TO 32 AND DISPLAYS WARNING POSSIBLE FREEZING CONDITIONS. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE COMING FROM A BAD GROUND CABLE.
ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO NOW, UNDER SLOW SPEEDS AND MAKING A TURN MOST OF THE TIME, MY TRUCK WILL SHUT DOWN AND JERK THE WHEEL FROM MY HANDS AGGRESSIVELY. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 20 TIMES SO FAR. ABOUT A WEEK AGO, I HIT THE GAS TO MAKE A PASS, THE TRUCK DOWN SHIFTED AND SHUT DOWN ON ME FOR ABOUT 5 SECOND GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. THERE HAS ALSO BEEN TIMES WHEN I'VE GOT THE BRAKE OR PUT BOTH FRONT WINDOWS UP AND THE RADIO WOULD GO OUT. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT'S GOING ON AND WHAT TO DO. I RELY ON MY TRUCK ALLOT BUT IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE LIKE THIS. WHEN THESE ISSUES OCCUR THE SERVICE STABLETRACK LIGHT COMES ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL CEASED AND JERKED WITHOUT WARNING. ADDITIONALLY, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS INOPERABLE. THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED INDEPENDENTLY AND THE VEHICLE RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WALKER JONES MEGA CENTER (2718 MEMORIAL DR, WAYCROSS, GA 31503, (912) 490-8033) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINALS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY OR A MANUFACTURER'S RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
I WAS ATTEMPTING TO OPEN THE DOOR TO REMOVE MY CHILD, THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN.I THEN BEGAN TO PROBLEM SOLVE THE ISSUE AND REALIZED THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR DOES NOT LOCK WITH KEY FOB OR UNLOCK MANUALLY OR WITH KEY FOB. THE DOOR WILL LOCK MANUALLY BUT I CAN NOT OPEN THE DOOR FROM INSIDE MANUALLY, IT WILL NOT UNLOCK FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE CONTROL UNLOCK, OR WITH THE KEY FOB. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN, IF THERE WAS AN EMERGENCY PASSENGERS OR DRIVER COULD NOT EXIT THROUGH THAT DOOR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED FOR THE DRIVER TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW. IN ADDITION, THE TRAILER BRAKE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED THREE TIMES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 91,000.
STARTED BY VEHICLE WITH REMOTE START. REAR WINDOW DEFROST WAS ON. I DID HEAR SOME CRACKLING NOISE BY THE WINDOW, BUT AFTER GETTING THINGS AROUND FORGOT ABOUT IT. 20 MINUTES OR SO INTO MY DRIVE I STARTED TO SMELL SOMETHING HOT/ELECTRICAL. NOTICED THE REAR DEFROST WAS STILL ON SO I SHUT THAT OFF TOO SEE IF THAT WAS CAUSING THE HOT SMELL. MOMENTS LATER THE SECTION OF REAR WINDOW ON THE DRIVERS SIDE EXPLODED WITH A LOUD BANG. ALL THE GLASS IN THAT SECTION WAS SHATTERED AND EVENTUALLY FELL OUT THAT BACK (LUCKILY NOT INSIDE). I WAS UNDER MOTION WHEN IT HAPPENED, BUT IT WAS ON A SMOOTH ROAD, NOTHING OVERHANGING ABOVE (LIKE LINES THAT COULD DROP ICE) AND NOT TRAFFIC NEAR ME. THE GLASS PATTERN APPEAR LIKE THE GLASS WAS BLOWN OUT, NOT INWARD LIKE IF IT HAD BEEN IMPACTED BY AN OBJECT.
