GM has produced millions of vehicles with the 5.3 motor with AFM,DOD,VVT issues. They are well aware of this issue. The factory defect causes the lifters to collapse causing catastrophic engine failure. This posses a hazard to consumers in traffic trying to navigate their stalled vehicles off the roadways. GM customer service is rude and dismissive, furthermore they offer no assistance to fix these problems. The issues with these motors is well documented and any repair shop/ dealership can confirm these issues. There is no indication from warning systems prior to this failure. However there are multiple Dash warning lights after the catastrophic failure occurs. The cost is passed to consumers to address these issues.

My 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 keeps stalling/dying when making turns. There is zero correlation to speed, stop and go, slow, fast, sharp or gradual turn, acceleration or slow rolling start, hard stop then start. It happens mostly when turning right, or left, mostly right. It 's happened 12 times from July '22 to January '23.Dash only shows mileage when it dies. (digital). Rest of console is black (similar to when remote started). It has happened when remote started (twice), other times when manually started with the key. I have tried to recreate stalling turning/starting fast/slow/sharp, etc in empty parking lots while videoing multiple times without success. I took it in to dealer's service center in January '23. They trouble shot it, determining that it was a faulty fuse box and changed that out. It has continued to occur despite this "fix." It has occurred 8 times since January, four of those times in the last 3 weeks, twice on one day. All of these times, except yesterday, I was lucky that no one was behind me. Yesterday, it happened when I turned left. I was able to place it in park restart, and continue. I stopped at stop sign, then turned right. It died again while a truck was behind me. Because it had happened so often, I shifted into neutral, restarted engine, shifted into drive and was able to get enough speed to avoid them hitting me from behind. I was luck the other driver noted that I had stopped and slowed down accordingly. Had I been in heavy traffic, that may not have been the outcome. I know there is a recall for the 2017 year models PIT5405C which describes the exact same thing happening, including engine revving when accelerating from stop after restarting. It then requires stopping, turning off and restarting. I am taking it back to the dealer's service center for further trouble shooting in two days. The service center does all my maintenance and oil changes. I would welcome someone else inspecting/trouble shooting to fix the problem.

Took to the dealership and they did a diagnostics and are requiring me to purchase a new transmission valve. The truck only has 84,000 miles and they have to Remove and replace transmission, Transmission has burn smell, color of fluid is dark, excessive metal shavings present the problem I presented to the dealership was that after you exceed the speed of 50 miles an hour the truck starts to jerk and pulls on you and there’s a very screeching sound every time you accelerate and it always jerks hard on the highway and it feels like if I’m being hit by something from the back

My engine cooling lines are leaking and that can potentially cause a very bad problem to my engine itself imagine I'm driving and they pop off causing me to lose all my oil and then my engine can drown and sudden stop while I'm on the highway I was first aware of the problem when my veichle had to be taken in because the transmission was failing at around 55000 miles the dealership told me about this problem which said did not need to be addressed since it's a small leak on the lines but once I got down under my truck and took of the undercover it's more than a small leak now I'm facing having to spend money on a veichle that should not be giving me problems yet at the miles it's at I'm trying to get a hold of my extended warranty to see if it's covered because chevrolet said it's not there problem anymore yet I'm not the only one with this exact problem upon investigating the 2019 had a recall for this exact problem the engine cooling lines and I had notice I had to do more oil changes way faster but never thought it was that

Our 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 was purchased new and only serviced at Chevrolet dealerships. While on vacation we were driving on a 3-lane paved road and then engine started knocking for a few seconds and then a chime could be heard and the check engine light came on. The vehicle lost power and the vehicle was difficult to control. We were fortunate that other vehicles were able to avoid us since our truck slowed quickly (without the brakes being applied). The vehicle had to be towed to a local Chevrolet dealer for diagnostics. The dealer found that the hydraulic lifters on the right bank of the engine collapsed (resulting in a misfire) and there was extensive engine damage. The vehicle was equipped with a 5.3l engine with AFM/DFM (cylinder deactivation). Mileage was 64,562. Vehicle was repaired with "upgraded" valve train parts from General Motors as this failure mode seems to be somewhat common in AFM/DFM engines (can find class action information during web search).

During the mornings when first starting my truck, I get a stutter or hesitation to the engine when accelerating out of my driveway. This happens just about every morning. I have determined that the truck has to be off for about 10+ hours. The stutter/hesitation goes away after the car warms up in about 1 mile. Have had the truck into the shop but they can find NO problems.

I have a 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 that I bought in June of 2018, brand new from integrity Chevy in Chattanooga tn.. One ago ago I was driving home and the check engine light came in and starting running poorly and you could hear a knocking noise coming from the engine. I took it back to integrity Chevrolet in Chattanooga, the employee at the auto service counter got inside and started the truck and he new at once what the issue was, he didn’t even take it back to the shop so the mechanic could look at it. He told me it was the lifters knocking. I left the truck with them. The next day he called me and told that the lifters where bad and had bent push rods. They had to replace everything on both sides, told me how much it would cost. It was out of warranty as I had 74,000 miles on it. The total cost that I had to pay was $5,468 dollars. The truck is less then 4 years old. The employee at the desk when I paid for it said that I just paid for a new engine! Again the truck was less then 4 years old.

Driving on highway 70 mph with out prior warning the truck begins to shake, backfire, lunging, loss of power, all the lights on the dash starting going crazy, cars behind me trying to avoid hitting me ,it wouldn't speed up, having a hard time getting it off the road and out of the way of highway traffic before getting rear ended by traffic behind me. The truck only has a little over 60000 miles on it which is just beyond the 60000 mile warranty, The truck lost compression because of a lifter failure in the motor. After this I have no interest in ever buying another Chevy product, If they cant build a motor that will last more than 3 years maybe they should rethink their future in the auto industry.

BULLETIN NO PI1513F DESCRIBES AN ISSUE WITH CHEVY SILVERADOS (AMONGST OTHER MODELS) AND THE RADIATORS LEAKING DUE TO OVER CYCLING OF THE THERMOSTAT. I HAVE A 2018 THAT IS BARELY 2 YEARS OLD, AND A LEAKING RADIATOR! GM IS DOING NOTHING TO OWN UP TO THIS ISSUE, AND THEY ARE EXPECTING ME TO PAY THE ENTIRETY FOR A REPLACEMENT, AND I DON'T EVEN HAVE CONFIDENCE IT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN. THIS BULLETIN SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO COVER ALL YEARS UNTIL GM PROVES THEY HAVE A SOLUTION IN PLACE. IT IS COMPLETELY UNETHICAL FOR GM TO NOT ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND EXPECT ME TO PUT THIS MUCH MONEY INTO A BRAND NEW TRUCK. I SLOWLY BEGAN TO NOTICE THE COOLANT RESERVOIR GOING DOWN. I EVENTUALLY BROUGHT IT TO MY DEALERSHIP (TWICE), AND ON THE SECOND VISIT THEY FOUND THE LEAK, ALTHOUGH MILEAGE WAS OVER THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY DURING THE SECOND VISIT. IT IS A VERY SLOW LEAK.

STARTER IS BAD, DRAGS WHEN COLD OR ITS DRAWN THE BATTERY DOWN TO WHERE IT WON'T START. JUMPED IT ONCE, THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE BATTERY BUT THAT 650 COLD CRANKING AMP IS NOT BIG ENOUGH FOR THE STARTER. WE NEED TO GO TO A 1000 COLD CRANKING AMP PLUS A 200 AMP ALTERNATOR. OR WE COULD JUST REPLACE THE STARTER WITH A GOOD ONE.
