86,000 miles on the vehicle and transmission and oil leakingproblem
I was passing a line of vehicles when a semi started over into my lane. I hit the gas, to avoid being hit by the truck. When I did warning light on my vehicle appeared on the display. I lost speed and immediately heard a loud knocking from the engine. I was on an open 4 lane highway and knew there was a dealer close by. I drove to the dealership, I left the vehicle running so they could hear it. The service tech told me they had seen "several" vehicles in with the same problem with the 5.3L . I left the vehicle there and was given a loaner. They told me the lifter had gone bad when I sped up quickly, and the camshaft was damaged. Further research by me has discovered a lot of vehicles have this same issue due to the active fuel management system. I chose not to pay Chevrolet $7000 to fix the engine, and currently have it in a private shop being repaired. A less experienced driver may have slammed on the brakes or swerved and caused a major accident. My vehicle did slow down on its own, but I was able to keep control and safely maneuver to the right lane.
Transmission hard shift and downshift also has a torque convertor shudder it also has high transmission temp the coolant temp on the dash is above the middle point have been to the dealership multiple times they state everything is normal transmission problem can cause a safety issue on the road if truck doesn’t shift how it’s supposed to.
Cracked Engine. There was no warning. No indications prior to incident. Driving approximately 45/50 mph on road, out of NO WHERE a message appeared "Shift into NEUTRAL and SHUT OFF ENGINE" I coasted to the side of the of road, there was no power at all. I did as the message stated. Once I turned off the vehicle, it would not start. It has not been able to start since that time. I had to have the vehicle towed. First to my local mechanic who could not find anything and suggested to take to a dealer, I had to have it towed again. Thankfully other vehicles behind me were patient enough for me to get to the side of road. However, this could have caused a very serious accident. I have read other complaints online regarding the same issue. GM/CHEVY states there are not enough complaints of the issue but have had some. Does a death need to occur to get attention? I certainly hope not. The vehicle has been properly maintained. Chevy can not give a reason for this happening. My vehicle is over the warranty amount in mileage. Therefore I have to pay 30% of the cost for a new engine. I would not be as upset if there was something I did, but if it is properly maintained, why? No one can answer that question. All I get is "I understand". If they did, they would have done something sooner and they would cover this cost 100%.There has to be some defect or issue somewhere. They can not seem to give me an exact figure for the repair. Who knows what my out of pocket cost will be.
The truck has lifter failure leaving the Engine in Operatable at best you and you kids are stranded in 0% wether or broken down in the road. The other outcome is the Engine Explodes like a bomb when the internals let go from the failure. Lucky I was just left in the cold where I could have frozen to death. This happened at 70k miles but is happening to all the 19+ trucks with 5.3-6.2 the other problem is a transmission shudder making you barely able to keep control of the vehicle. You have had so many complaints here there have been several class action lawsuits yet nothing has been done why is Gm not held accountable?
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the vehicle was shuttering with a whining sound coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to a dealer however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. On another occasion, while driving 70 MPH, the engine revved but the transmission failed to shift gear as needed and the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The vehicle was not able to restart. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
I've replacd the transmission which was covered under extended warranty now I'm having to replace the engine which is not covered the car is only 5 yrs old
Vehicle DIC displays a low oil pressure warning and zero oil pressure repeatedly. Oil pressure returns to normal shortly thereafter. Vehicle also displays many other warnings and cautions intermittently.
So my Silverado is having the same issues as many other Silverado owners. I originally had the vehicle in for service on a transmission issue, which is also another problem these vehicles are having. As for the engine issue I have experienced the vehicle stalling out after running rough, primarily after the vehicle has been running for a while. In addition, there are times when I am driving at highway speeds and the vehicle seems to shudder and shake. I thought OK maybe it's the wheel balance or alignment so I took it in for the wheel balance and the alignment and it still is doing the same thing. So at this point I had the spark plugs, wires and coil packs replaced. Still having the same issue. In addition to this I had the vehicle in for first time transmission hard shifting at around 20k miles. The technician took the vehicle for a drive and stated that there was an issue and that the computer reset should eliminate the problem. It didn't. So I dealt with this multiple times, bringing the vehicle to service for diagnosis and even filing a claim with GM. The vehicle is still experiencing these problems with the hard shifting. I had the recommended maintenance performed on the vehicle which included fluid replacement without a resolution to the issue. I have completely lost confidence in the GM products and their service technicians as they've been unable to repair the vehicle to proper running order. This will be my last GM product, and that says a lot coming from a GM family member. Sad that quality has significantly gone downhill.
Several Thousand of these vehicles are experiencing engine/ lifter and transmission failure which can cause accidents and death. There was a class action lawsuit filed against GM and it needs to be offered to all owners of these affected vehicles.
While operating my vehicle at normal capacity the engine lost power and jolted very hard and the vehicle began shaking. I heard knocking noises coming from within the engine. The truck only has 68k highway miles on it with regular maintenance done by the dealer. My 2010 version of this truck lasted longer than this one. Gm is telling me I need a $7800.00 dollar repair that I am on the arm for. There was nothing out of the ordinary that could have caused this. I am aware of others having the same problem. It would not be safe if I was traveling faster.
TRUCK WILL REV HIGH AND NOT MOVE FOR 2 OR 3 SECONDS WHEN ACCELERATING AFTER STOPPING AT REDL LGHT THEN SLAM INTO FIRST GEAR AND LURCH FORWARD ABRUPTLY. THE MOTOR MOUNTS ARE DAMAGED FROM DOING THIS OVER AND OVER AGAIN. ENGINE HAS 44000 MILES IS SERVICED ON TIME EVERY TIME AND NOT ABUSED.
The transmission will sometimes hesitate/lag for a few seconds when shifting from 1st gear to 2nd gear. This seems to occur only cold starts where the vehicle has sat for a long period, such as overnight. On the most recent occurrence, I was stopped at a stop sign on my road and began to turn left (northbound) on to the busy highway. While turning from the stop sign on to the highway, the vehicle vehicle hesitated mid-shift and I lost acceleration. After a few seconds, a loud clunk was then heard, the truck jerked - throwing me forward, and acceleration was restored. This delay resulted in a near-miss collision as there was an approaching vehicle headed southbound and I was stuck in their lane since my vehicle was not accelerating. Issue reported to Heartland Chevrolet (501 Rte 291, Liberty, MO 64068) to document and investigate the issue. Vehicle taken to dealer next day. After 3 days of service, the dealer service team could not reproduce the issue and escalated to regional GM engineer (Service Manager called him directly.). Engineer stated that hesitation is normal. Still an on-going issue; work around has been to let the vehicle idle longer before driving on a cold start. Sometimes you can "feel" the hesitation and know when to let off the gas pedal few a few seconds until the shift in to 2nd to avoid the vehicle throwing you forward, being able to have better "control" of the hesitation issue.
I WAS DRIVING UP A HILL AT APPROX. 5 MILES AN HOUR, WITH COWORKER IN VEHICLE. THE TRANSMISSION COULD NOT FIND A GEAR AND THE VEHICLE LOST MOMENTUM AND ROLLED BACKWARDS DOWN THE HILL. I HAD TO SLAM ON MY BREAKS BEFORE I HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. WE WERE AT KAISER HOSPITAL ASSISTING WITH THE COOLING TOWERS OF THE HOSPITAL. I HAD TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN ON, AND SLOW MAKE MY WAY TO THE PARKING AREA. MY COWORKER WAS EXTREMELY WORRIED AND FELT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE, AS DID I. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES.
SEEMED AS IF THE CAR WOULD ALMOST SLIP IN AND OUT GEAR WHEN DIVING APPROX. 30-40 MPH. I THEN NOTICED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND FLASHED ENGINE REDUCTION AND SEEMED TO LOSE SOME POWER. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER, 2 DAYS LATER THEY REPLACED R&R CAMSHAFT POSITION ACTUATOR MAGNET INTAKE.THE NEXT DAY AFTER THE TRUCK BACK. I STARTED THE TRUCK IT PUT IT IN REVERSE AND THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING BUT IT SEEMED AS IF IT THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING AS WHEN YOU USE THE REMOTE TO START THE TRUCK, AFTER THE 4TH TRY THE TRUCK STAYED RUNNING BUT THE ENGINE REDUCTION WARNING HAD LIT UP AGAIN. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN BACK AT THE DEALERS FOR 6 DAYS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM
WHEN I WAS DRIVING THIS VEHICLE FIRST PROBLEM I START GETTING WAS THE 4WD SERVICE LIGHT AND WON'T BE ABLE TO SWITCH TO 4WD, AND WAS. CLOSE TO GET IN THE WRECK COUPLE TIME DURING THE WINTER STORM. SECOND PROBLEM WAS WHEN I WAS DRIVING AROUND 70MPH ON HWY TRUCK GOT REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND SLOWED DOWN MY SPEED A LOT, LUCKILY I DIDN'T HAVE VEHICLE TO CLOSE TO ME. ANOTHER PROBLEM I HAD WAS TRANSMISSION ISSUES, I WAS DRIVING 25MPH AND MY VEHICLE GOT BLOCKED INSTANT AND WON'T MOVE FORWARD. IMAGINE IF THIS HAPPENED ON HWY DRIVING 70MPH AND VEHICLE TO STOP/BLOCK THE WHEELS AND SOMEONE TO BE BEHIND COULD BE A BIG WRECK. AND AFTER THAT ISSUES TRUCK WON'T GO FORWARD ANYMORE, JUST ON REVERSE
MERGING INTO 70 TO 80 MPH TRAFFIC ON INTERSTATE I95 MY TRUCK STALLED ABRUPTLY TO 45 MPH AND AT 3000 RPM WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF THE LOWER GEAR IT WENT IT. I HAD TO MERGE QUICKLY TO THE EMERGENCY LANE WITH ON COMING TRAFFIC DOING ALL THEY COULD TO GET AROUND AROUND ME. HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED.
2019 SILVERADO HIGH COUNTRY.124 MILES THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF A LOWER GEAR. I WAS DRIVING 45 MPH AND HAD TO PULL OVER AND HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY SITTING AT DAN VADEN POOLER GEORGIA.

ON 6/26/2019 WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON HWY 287 WHILE IN MOTION MY TRUCK ENGINE TURNED OFF ON MY 2019 CHEVROLET SILVERADO TEXAS EDITION 2.7 L COLOR SILVER AND I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED AND I IMMEDIATELY CALLED SMICKLAS CHEVROLET IN OKLAHOMA CITY WHERE I PURCHASED THE TRUCK AND BROUGHT THE TRUCK TO VANDERGRIFF CHEVROLET IN ARLINGTON, TX TO BE LOOKED AT AND SERVICED. THIS IS THE SECOND TRUCK THAT I PURCHASED THAT HAS DONE THIS TO ME THE FIRST ONE WAS A WHITE TRUCK 2019 CHEVROLET SILVERADO TEXAS EDITION 2.7 L THAT I DIDN'T HAVE FOR 24 HOURS. THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED IT AS A CAM SHAFT SENSOR PROBLEM THAT WAS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND I'M REALLY DISSATISFIED WITH CHEVROLET AS A COMPANY TO KEEP SELLING A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. KNOWING IT CAN CAUSE DEATH OR A ACCIDENT
