Diesel Exhaust Poor Quality Warning false alarmed and began restricting vehicle speed thus limiting range the vehicle can travel to less than 250 miles and at speeds significantly lower than posted speed limits. Potentially leaving a motorist stranded or vehcile incapacitated when traveling distances greater than 250 miles from residence. 1st warning reduces speed to 65mph after 100 miles 2nd warning reduces speed to 55mph after 75 miles 3rd warning reduces speed to 4 mph after 75 miles The warning light has appeared on the vehicle on 3 separate occassions and never due to DEF being expired or old. On all three occasions vehicle was taken to local Chevrolet Service Department for repairs. First incident January 10th 2022 replaced 2 thermastats, Second incident February 9th 2022 added fresh fuel, Third incident April 1st 2022 replaced secondary NOX sensor. My safety is at risk if I were to use the vehicle to travel long distances, use the vehicle for towing or attempt to travel on the interstate. No assurances have been made by Chevrolet that repairs have truely fixed the issue as it continues to recur and each time I am being charged by dealership for different repairs. The issue has been reported to Chevrolet Customer Care whom have been difficult to communicate with, only agreed to re-imburse $41 of the over $2000 in repairs, and do not seem to care about my safety concerns.
Metal shavings in my fuel system
POOR QUALITY EXHAUST FLUID UNABLE TO DRIVE OVER 55MPH
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY I STARTED TO LOSE POWER AND SO WHEN I PULLED INTO THE AIRPORT PARKING LOT MY TRUCK STALLED WHILE I WAS STILL IN DRIVE. I TRIED TO RESTART THE TRUCK HOWEVER IT WOULD NOT CRANK OVER SO I HAD TO CONTACT A TOW COMPANY. WHAT I FOUND OUT WAS THAT IT WAS THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP THAT WENT OUT CAUSING SEVERE DAMAGE TO MY FUEL SYSTEM BY SENDING METAL SHAVINGS INTO ALL OF MY FUEL SYSTEM TO INCLUDE MY GAS TANK. GM HAD A CLASS ACTION SUIT FOR THIS YEAR OF TRUCK FOR THIS ISSUE AT HAND AND I AM WONDERING WHY THEY NEVER INITIATED A SAFETY RECALL ON THIS DEFECTIVE PART? I COULD HAVE BEEN STRANDED SOMEWHERE ON THE HIGHWAY AND I HAVE A FAMILY WITH THREE KIDS WHICH COLD HAVE MADE IT WORSE IF THEY WERE WITH ME ON A TRIP. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN MY EYES AND IF GM KNEW ABOUT THIS HAPPENING WHY HAVE THEY NOT FIXED IT NOW I AM BEING CHARGED $8900.00 FOR REPAIRS WHEN THEY KNEW THIS WAS AN ISSUE. IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY THIS COULD OF BEEN CATASTROPHIC TO NOT ONLY ME HOWEVER TO THE PUBLIC TRAVELING ON THAT SAME HIGHWAY. I HAVE ALL THE TSB'S AND INTERNET RESEARCH ON THE LAWSUIT FILED BUT CANNOT UPLOAD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND FAILED TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM FAILED FROM WITHIN THE INSIDE AND THE ENTIRE SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 140,000.
SERIOUS RISK OF FIRE: THIS MODEL HAS AN PRESSURE SENSOR ON TOP OF THE GAS TANK (AND FUEL PUMP) THAT WHEN IT MALFUNCTIONS CAUSES STRONG FUEL ODORS AND FUEL TO ESCAPE FROM THE TANK AND RUN DOWN THE FRAME AND OUT NEAR THE BACK BUMPER.
