THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING FAILS OR MALFUNCTIONS AND THIS VEHICLE IS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION. THE CAR IS STILL ON ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE HAS BEEN DISENGAGED. THE CAR COULD POSSIBLY SHIFT OUT OF GEAR AND MOVE. YES, THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN CONFIRMED. THE "SHIFT TO PARK" MESSAGE APPEARS
Around 65,000 miles I started to get a "Shift to Park" message when I tried to turn off the engine. The car was already in park. This is continuing to happen. I see that it has been an issue on this model since 2016. There needs to be a recall on this issue. You need to be able to turn off your car. Service Bulletins have been sent out but no recall.
When shifting my vehicle into Park, the message “Shift to Park” appears even though the gear lever is already in the Park position. The vehicle does not always recognize that it is in Park, which prevents it from fully shutting off and poses a potential rollaway or battery drain risk. Often the radio/bluetooth components remain on. This issue creates a safety concern when parking, especially on inclines or in public areas and I live on a dangerous steep driveway. The problem was confirmed by Montgomery Chevrolet on October 28, 2024, after I paid $175 for a diagnostic that is not covered under warranty. They verified the “Shift to Park” malfunction and provided a repair estimate of $1,796.55. The vehicle and component are available for inspection upon request with videos and photos of the "shift to park" error log. This began appearing shortly before the dealer visit and has continued since. Video available upon request* Unable to upload
Nearly every time I go to turn the power off the screen says "shift to park" but it's in park. The engine turns off and the vehicle SEEMS to be in park, but who knows? Then it keeps "dinging" and won't turn off. When I walk away with the keys it honks at me. I'm assuming it eventually turns off, I've been setting the parking brake. I checked google and lots of people are talking about this issue - I would recommend GM do a recall for this as it's super annoying and potentially a safety issue if the vehicle doesn't know what gear its in.
