Chronological view of owner reports
The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power after coming to a complete stop, along with several instrument gauges fluctuating. Additionally, the passenger's side front window inadvertently rolled down while driving. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V348000 (Electrical System) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
the rear vehicle camera stays on for 2 miuntes after the car changes gear from reverse to drive. It is distracting.
While idling and in park, entire electrical system failed. No dash lights. No hazard flashers. No dome lights. Start button unresponsive. Parking brake engaged. Attempt to jump had not effect. While undoing 500 amp positive battery terminal to replace battery, connection restored and vehicle behaved normally. Soon after while driving, dash went dark for less than a second but returned to normal and engine kept running. Moments later when came to stop to back into driveway, repeat complete electrical failure. I disconnected all positive battery terminals, cleaned with wire brush and applied terminal protective grease before reconnecting. Vehicle functioned normally. I had recently replaced the battery myself and I suspect subsequent corrosion in terminals caused loss of electrical continuity. At minimum, I recommend a service alert but had this occurred while I was driving on a highway, I would have had no control of the vehicle at all and likely would have been in a serious crash.
VEHICLE COMPLETELY FAILED(SHUTDOWN for the lack of better term). ALL electrical system turned off. THIS IS VERY SERIOUS ISSUE. NO warning message was issued on the dashboard.
The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while reversing two days after purchasing the vehicle, the electronic shifter was placed into DRIVE however, the vehicle would not move. The warning message "Service Shifter" was illuminated. The contact continued to engage the electronic shifter until the vehicle responded. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred and the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the vehicle was purchased. The dealer then towed the vehicle to an authorized Chrysler dealer, where the vehicle was diagnosed with an electrical wiring failure. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken back to the dealer again to be repaired. The dealer repaired the vehicle; however, the failure reoccurred while driving. The contact stated while driving at 60 MPH on the highway, the vehicle suddenly stalled, almost causing other vehicles to crash into the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was purchased and then the vehicle was taken to a second Chrysler dealer; Frontier Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram Fiat (5801 TX-327 Spur, Lubbock, TX 79424). The second Chrysler dealer diagnosed the failure as an electrical failure. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the second dealer who notified the manufacturer of the failure. The manufacturer advised the dealer to replace the battery. The battery was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the second Chrysler dealer but was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000.
On July 26 when starting the car the entire dash lit up and all possible dash lights began to flash, the RPMs would go up and down, speedometer would move up and down. It literally looked possessed. Turned the car off. Later that day went to start the car again (to bring it in if possible) and the car started fine. Started driving towards the dealership. At 30mph the car began to accelerate on its own. Thankfully no cars in front as I slammed the breaks and pulled over. The dash lights again went haywire. Pulled over and shut car off. Turned back on and drove the mile home (13 miles to dealership). Next day we again brought it into the dealership and the car made it. They were unable to duplicate and stated there were 100's of codes and they don't know where to begin. The dealership sent me home. Almost a month later exactly the vehicle went crazy. This time I grabbed my cell phone and recorded it. Turned the car off and had it towed to the dealership. It did not do it again. They have had it now going on over two weeks and are unable to duplicate the issue. Again, they stated there are 100s of codes and don't know where to start. The car is not safe for driving. Once the dash goes crazy all control is lost. We have an extended warranty. We love the features of the car, but with five kids we do not feel safe driving it on the highway until they look into this. I have read at least two others with similar issues, but the dealership says they only work with Chrysler Engineering and don't look at other websites. VERY FRUSTRATED.
The wiring harness on the sliding doors allow the wiring to become frayed and makes the door not close properly. See YouTube videos on this model car door malfunctioning. When attempting to close the door, the door closes and then reopens until you repeatedly close it.
I tried to start my Chrysler Pacifica in the morning. The car would not start, and all of the vehicle's dashboard warning lights came on at different times when i pressed the On/Off ignition button. There was no clear, or coherent error message being displayed about what was wrong with the vehicle. Every warning light came on and off. The vehicle's computer module appeared to have malfunctioned. I was finally able to start the car, and brought it to the dealer for checking. The dealer informed me it was simply a low battery problem, but could not explain to me why all of the warning lights on the dashboard and console came on and off. Nothing in the owner's manual explained this sort of issue. I feel very unsafe with this vehicle, as the computer can display warning messages randomly, and disable the vehicle.
THE SCREEN FOR RADIO AND ALL OTHER ELECTRONIC INFO KEEPS FLICKING FROM ONE SCREEN TO ANOTHER THE WHOLE TIME THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. THERE IS NO WAY TO TURN IT OFF, AND IT IS VERY DISTRACTING WHILE DRIVING. AT NIGHT TIME, THERE IS NO WAY TO KEEP IT FROM DISTRACTING THE DRIVER, AND I HAVE AN EPILEPTIC CHILD IN THE CAR WITH ME, AND THAT BLINKING SCREEN HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE A SEIZURE. THE DEALERSHIP CHARGED $183 TO DO A DIAGNOSTIC AND SAID IT WAS NOT FIXABLE, NEEDED A NEW SCREEN, COSTING $1100. I HAVE SINCE RESEARCHED IT AND IT SEEMS THAT A LOT OF 2017 PACIFICAS HAVE THIS ISSUE. I DON'T HAVE $1100 TO FIX IT, AND I CAN'T TURN IT OFF, SO IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS CAR FOR ME TO DRIVE. I BELIEVE CHRYSLER SHOULD FIX THIS ISSUE.
VEHICLES ELECTRONICS DON'T TURN OFF WHEN CAR IS OFF AND DOOR OPENS, I HAVE HAD TO TURN OFF ACCESSORY BATTERY 3 TIMES SINCE 2018 AND THIS KILLED THE REGULAR BATTERY AS WELL.
I BELIEVE THAT MY SITUATION IS IDENTICAL TO AN ISSUE THAT CHRYSLER HAS ALREADY RECALLED, BUT I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE AT THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP TODAY THAT MY CAR IS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, HAD TO STOP AT A STOP LIGHT, LIGHT WENT GREEN I MOVED FORWARD AT 10ISH MPH TO TAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN, AS I WAS TURNING MY MINIVAN LOST ALL POWER. THE CAR LITERALLY SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I TRIED TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND BREAK. THE CAR SYSTEM INDICATED TO ME TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART THE CAR. I DID SO, WHEN ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON THE CAR STUTTERED A BIT BUT THEN SUCCESSFULLY TURNED ON. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. I DROVE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP THIS MORNING. I EXPRESSED EXTREME CONCEWRN THAT THIS ISSUE WAS THE SAME AS THE ONE THAT WAS IN THE NEWS ABOUT MANY 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICAS. THEY DID NOT EVEN SEEM TO BE AWARE OF THE RECALL WHICH SEEMED SHOCKING GIVEN THE ISSUE. AND WHEN I PRESSED THEY SAID SINCE THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THE ISSUE AND IT WAS NOT A CAR IDENTIFIED IN THE RECALL THAT THERE WAS NOT MUCH THEY COULD DO. I ESCALATED THE ISSUE TO THE MANAGER AND AM WAITING TO HEAR BACK. I AM VERY NERVOUS ABOUT DRIVING THE CAR NOW, I HAD MY 3 YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE CAR WHEN THE ISSUE OCCURRED. IF THEY REFUCE TO FIX IT BASED ON MY DISCUSSION WITH THEM I AM NOT SURE WHAT MY NEXT STEPS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE.
THE DASHBOARD (INSTRUMENT CLUSTER) TURNS ON AND OFF BY ITSELF WHILE THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. IT DRAINS THE CAR BATTERY PREMATURELY. I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY 2 TIMES WITHIN 3 YEARS. TODAY, I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THIS IS NORMAL. THEY STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD CAN DO THIS FOR 30MINS TO 1HR AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TURNED OFF, WHICH MAKES NO SENSE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS WITH SEVERAL UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS REQUESTED. THE VEHICLE WAS JUMP STARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V348000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GANLEY CHRYSLER OF AURORA (161 W GARFIELD RD, AURORA, OH 44202) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE MAIN BATTERY AND THE STOP/START BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BATTERIES WERE NO LONGER COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,900.
MY VAN STALLED, AND THE ENGINE COMPLETELY STOPPED WHEN I HAD THE BRAKE PRESSED AT AN INTERSECTION. THE BRAKES LOCKED, I COULDNT SHIFT THE CAR, OR TURN THE WHEEL. I HAD REPEATEDLY TRIED TO TURN THE CAR ON AND OFF AGAIN AND THE ENGINE WOULDNT START.
PANEL LIGHTS DOESN'T TURNES OFF AFTER THE CAR IS TURNED OFF BLUETOOTH DOESN'T WORK AT ALL (PHONE CALLS DOES NOT WORK ANY MORE) RADIO IS DEAD PARKING REARVIEW CAMERA, THE SCALE LINES DISAPPEARED CAR LOCK DOES NOT WORK ALL THE TIMES
THERE IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR. IT CONTINUES TO OPEN ITSELF BACK UP AFTER CLOSING. IT WILL BE ALMOST CLOSED ALL THE WAY AND THEN WILL BEEP THREE TIMES AND OPEN BACK UP.. THERE IS NOTHING IN THE DOOR JAM OR WAY OF IT CLOSING. WE HAVE WIPED CLEANED AND VACUUMED IT, AND DEALER FOUND NO ISSUE. IT HAPPENS DAILY. ALSO AT TIMES THE SENSOR DOES NOT DETECT AN ENTIRE BODY OF MY CHILD WHEN CLOSING AND WILL CLOSE ON THE CHILD IF THEY DON'T MOVE IN TIME.
WHEN USING THE KEY FOB TO REMOTELY CLOSE THE REAR DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR OR THE OVERHEAD BUTTON TO OPEN OR CLOSE THE DOOR OR THE BUTTON ADJACENT THE DOOR ITSELF, IT WILL CLOSE FOR ONLY A BRIEF MOMENT AND REOPEN ITSELF ON AVERAGE, 2-4 TIMES AFTER THE INITIAL ATTEMPT TO CLOSE IT. TWO SEPARATE TIMES THE DOOR HAS SUDDENLY OPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, MOTOR RUNNING, WITHOUT ANY BUTTON OR REMOTE BEING PRESSED. SUPER SCARY.
THIS IS FOLLOW UP TO COMPLAINT # 11279161 AND #11279427. WENT BY DEALERSHIP TODAY, THEY GAVE ME LIST OF CODES THEY FOUND PCM P152F, PCM P152E, ICS B210D16, ICS B21DD84, RFH C007700, ESM PP060700, DDM B21DD84, DDM B210C16, DDM B286015, PDM B21DD84, PDM B210C16, PDM B286015, MSMB21D21, PLGM B210D21, PLGM B21DD16, RCCC B219916, AND RCCC B21DD84. ALSO TOLD ME THEY WERE CHECKING TSB 08-099-18 REV A, SOMETHING TO DO WITH FRONT USB PORTS. I ALSO WAS TOLD WHEN THEY FIRST PLUGGED IN HAND HELD SCANNER IT SHOWED BAD AUXILIARY BATTERY. THEY DID FULL DIAGNOSTIC AND GOT ALL THESE CODES. STILL NOT SURE WHAT PROBLEM IS. MY OTHER QUESTION IS WHEN MY VEHICLE DIED NO OTHER LIGHTS CAME ON OTHER THAN THE ESS WARNING LIGHT. ALSO I HAVE NOT GOTTEN ANY OTHER WARNING LIGHTS WHEN ENGINE SHUT OFF.
WHEN I WAS DRIVING THE CAR I NOTICES THAT THE MONITOR SCREEN DIDNT TURN ON FOR 10 SECONDS AFTER I STARTED THE CAR. THE BACKUP CAMERA WAS BLURRY AND THE AUTO START STOP SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER. THE NEXT MORNING WHEN I WENT TO START CAR THE ENGINE WOULDNT START. THE SCREEN CAME ON THE LIGHT CAME ON BUT THE ENGINE DIDNT START. I HAD TO GET THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE CAR WOULDNT ROLL WHEN IT WAS PUT ON NEUTRAL. I AM BEING TOLD THERE MIGHT BE PROBLEMS WITH THE WIRING AND ELECTRICITY. I SAW THERE WAS A RECALL ABOUT THIS BUT MY CAR DIDNT HAVE A RECALL. THE DEALERSHIP IS GOING TO CHARGE ME INSANE AMOUNT OF MONEY TO GET THIS FIXED. I'VE ONLY HAD THIS CAR FOR A YEAR AND A HALF AND I BOUGHT IT TO THE SERVICE SHOP FOR MORE THAN I COULD COUNT. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A NEW CAR WITH MINIMAL TO NO PROBLEMS. IM STARTING TO GET DISAPPOINTED.
WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY, THE UCONNECT SYSTEM REPEATEDLY DISPLAYED REQUESTS FOR SETTING A TIME DURING WHICH THE SYSTEM WOULD UNDERGO AN OVER-THE-AIR SOFTWARE UPDATE. THIS DIALOG BOX COULD NOT BE EASILY DISMISSED OR CLEARED. I CHOSE AND SET A TIME FOR THE UPDATE; HOWEVER, THIS REQUEST DIALOG WAS REINSTANTIATED ANYTIME A BUTTON WAS PRESSED, THUS EFFECTIVELY RENDERING THE TOUCHSCREEN INTERFACE (INCLUDING THE NAVIGATION) UNUSABLE. THE DIALOG HAD A DEFAULT TIME FOR THE SYSTEM TO UPDATE. THIS WAS SET TO THE CURRENT TIME PLUS ONE MINUTE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CLEAR THE DIALOG AND USE THE NAVIGATION, THIS DEFAULT TIME WAS INADVERTENTLY CHOSEN. ONE MINUTE LATER, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY, THE UCONNECT SYSTEM INITIATED A SOFTWARE UPDATE WHICH COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN THE TOUCHSCREEN INTERFACE AND DISPLAYED A WARNING WHICH SAID THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE STOPPED AND IN PARK. AS THE CAR WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY, THIS WARNING COULD NOT BE IMMEDIATELY COMPLIED WITH. THE REPEATED DIALOG BOXES WERE INCREDIBLY DISTRACTING. THE FACT THAT THE DRIVER COULD INADVERTENTLY INITIATE A SOFTWARE UPDATE WHILE IN MOTION IS NOT ONLY DANGEROUS BUT ASTOUNDINGLY ABSURD.
VEHICLE STALLING DUE TO DEAD BATTERY ACCORDING TO DEALERSHIP. VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING. I WAS ABLE TO START IT AGAIN AFTER COMING TO A STOP, BUT IT TOOK 3 TIMES PUSHING THE START BUTTON BEFORE IT TURNED OVER. HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP TO RUN DIAGNOSTIC AND THEY CONCLUDED THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AND NO OTHER MALFUNCTION WAS REPORTED.
THE AUXILIARY BATTERY FAILED WHICH CAUSED MY START/STOP SYSTEM TO DISABLE WHICH IN TURN CAUSED MY ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL DISABLE ALSO. I HAVE HAD THE CAR JUST OVER A YEAR WITH 55,000 MILES ON IT.
ON SEPTEMBER 16, 2019 NEAR 10 AM MY 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA WAS PARKED IN FAMILY GARAGE SINCE THE 13TH WITHOUT BEING DRIVEN. THE KEY FOB DIDN'T WORK AND NO POWER WAS AVAILABLE TO START OR ACCESSORIES. AN ATTEMPT WAS MADE TO JUMP IT WITH CABLES FROM MY WIFE'S CAR AND IT WOULD NOT START. TOW WAS REQUEST TO NEAR BY DODGE DEALER JACK PHELAN IN COUNTRYSIDE, ILL. EARLY AFTERNOON TWO DIFFERENT TOW TRUCK COMPANIES WERE SUMMONED AND THEY BOTH WERE UNSUCCESSFUL IN JUMPING IT.AFTER TWO DAYS THEY STATED THE BATTERIES WERE DEFECTIVE AND BOTH NEEDED REPLACEMENT. STILL UNDER WARRANTY OTHERWISE COST WAS GIVEN AS OVER $600.00.
WHEN CLOSING THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR, IT BOUNCES BACK OPEN ONE TO MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE LATCHING SHUT 90% OF THE TIME. WE CONFIRM THERE IS NOTHING IN THE WAY OF IT CLOSING. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP UNDER WARRANTY MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEY ALWAYS STATE IT CANNOT BE REPLICATED. ALSO, ON THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR IF SOMETHING GETS IN THE WAY IT WILL ONLY OPEN A SMALL PORTION VERSUS OPENING ALL THE WAY UP OR SHUTTING COMPLETELY. IF A CHILD PUTS THEIR FOOT UP, THE DOOR WILL STOP WITHOUT OPENING BACK UP. THERE IS NO ALERT/WARNING ON THE DASHBOARD AND YOU EASILY DRIVE AWAY WITH THE SLIDING DOOR PARTIALLY OPEN, VERY DANGEROUS. ANOTHER ITEM, IF YOU LEAVE A BACK DOOR OPEN, THE VAN WILL ALLOW YOU TO PUT IT IN GEAR WITHOUT MANUALLY TAKING OFF THE PARKING ASSIST OR AGAIN NOTIFYING YOU THERE IS AN OPEN DOOR. IT WILL NOT DO YOU ANY GOOD TO SEND PICTURES BUT I CAN CERTAINLY SEND A VIDEO. THIS IS BEEN ONGOING SINCE APRIL 2018 WHEN WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE INITIALLY.
WHEN PARKED, THE CAR WOULD NOT INITIALLY "PUSH TO START" AND WHEN IT DID START IT DISPLAYED ERRORS TO "SERVICE SHIFTER, " "SERVICE PARKING BRAKE, " "PARKING BREAK UNAVAILABLE." VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN GARAGE.
