The UConnect functions will not work and randomly initiates functions so it changes stations, adjusts heating/cooling, asks if I want to contact 911, etc. This is very distracting and unsafe. Most of these functions on the Uconnect inaccessible. The car began having intermittent problems in 2021 just after the "Warranty" expired. The dealer said it would cost about $2,200 to replace and Chrysler will not take responsibility. I see this issue is very common amongst other dodge owners. I am surprised there has not been a recall since it appears to be a common problem and it is unsafe. Been driving it over the past 2-3 years and it is totally non operable. I was hoping it would eventually be recalled. I keep same radio station on every tab so when it skips around, it at least stays on the same station. Only thing that works. If not recalled, Stellantis should at least bear some of the cost (not to make a profit) to assist in the replacement
uConnect system (stereo/radio) is ghost touching and is impairing my driving as it’ll automatically blast my A/C or heat , or worse calls people in my contacts list who I wouldn’t call.. causing me to worry more about my stereo/phone more than driving. It turns my heat up on high as well as my heated seat in the 100 degree weather. Changes my radio stations at a rapid rate and removes my backup camera and other features while I am driving.
The Uconnect screen in my 2018 Dodge Charger SXT Plus began to delaminate, leading to unresponsiveness and phantom touches on the screen. This created a distraction while driving and impacted the use of essential vehicle controls, such as navigation, climate settings, and the backup camera was completely non-functioning. At the dealer I was initially quoted a price over $2,000 and I know from researching the internet many many many others have had this issue. I contacted both Chrysler and a local dealership. The dealership at my 2nd visit replaced the screen for free under a goodwill repair, and Chrysler also contacted me later promised to get the issue resolved if the dealership could not help me. I am reporting this issue because it is a significant defect that could affect the safety and functionality of the vehicle.

Nothing on the computer screen works or if it works....there's no controlling it. It blows out cold air and then blows out hot air and it changes the radio stations on it's own. There is no controlling the radio or the a/c and heat. I really scared that this is just the tip of the iceberg. I have only had this vehicle about a year and I haven't been able to drive it hardly at all. Thankfully I have a Hyundai Genesis Coupe that I can depend on but it only goes in the summer time because it is a rear wheel drive car. My 2018 Dodge Charger GT AWD is at the garage at 1251 Good Hope Pike Clarksburg, WV 26301 I took the above car to them on [XXX] and it's still at their garage. Nice people that work there but I would like to have my AWD car before the snow starts flying. Country Club Chrysler Howard Moore is the Service Manager. The control touch screen has delaminated. The radio and the vehicle operation functions will not work most of the time. The screen is also apparently sensing input and randomly initiates functions so it beeps, changes stations, adjusts heating/cooling, etc. This is very distracting and I'm concerned that at some point all of these functions will become inaccessible. The car has 5,000 miles, is barely over 3 years old and neither the dealership nor Chrysler will take responsibility. I see this issue is very common. The cost of the radio is over $2,000 and Chrysler will not confirm if the replacement is the same version that came with the car - if so, should I expect to pay another $2,000 in 3 years?!?
The touchscreen is delaminating and causing ghost touches which then causes a message to keep popping up asking: Do you want to adjust your clock settings? This message comes with a beeping noise and does not go away. It is very annoying and interferes with listening to music or even trying to touch anything on the screen. Sometimes I cant even adjust climate settings.
The touch screen will intermittently ask me if I want to change the clock settings and beep. It will keep beeping until I select the X on the touchscreen. Then when I touch the X the same message will pop up again and the beeping will continue. It will continue doing this until I shut the car off and then may or may not be present again when I start the car back up. It is random when this issue starts. Sometimes right when I start the car up and sometimes when I am already traveling down the highway. This is very distracting while I am trying to drive since it is beeping and I have to keep taking my eyes off the road to get rid of it. The screen is also useless for navigation or anything else while this is going on. It happens on a fairly consistent basis (about every other time I drive the car. Dodge seems uninterested in helping with the issue unless I pay thousands to get the radio replaced.
Experiencing delamination of UConnect touchscreen on my 18 Dodge Charger. This is causing a bubble to form under the screen. This causes “ ghost touches” to the screen. This causes quite a bit of distraction while driving as the the system will register touches on its own and go into the various controls that are controlled through the touch screen such and radio, hands free calling, navigation and the various performance “tunes”, traction controls and other performance monitors that are controlled through the touch screen. Through my research I see that this is a common issue that affects Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler vehicles. Dodge has advised me that they will not repair this issue outside of the 3 year warranty. Another issue I have found in my research is that as the gel that is between the screen and monitor delaminates it’s oozes out the bottom of the screen potentially affecting or damaging other electronic components below it.
Video display began prompting me to set my clock settings (Daylight Savings time). This occurred WHILE I WAS DRIVING! Pressing any or all buttons had no effect. I had to turn the radio off, which meant I could no longer take hands free phone calls. This is a serious safety issue. I have found forums where this issue has been discussed. See https://www.jeepgarage.org/threads/uconnect-issues.229602/#post-2021329920. Now, my key fobs are acting up. Perhaps releated? Could not start my car or unlock remotely. When I used the key, the panic alarm began going off. I could only turn it off by using my second key fob, which is also acting up. I've had issues with the back-up camera not turning on as well. Or the radio not working. There is major issues with the electrical/display panel on these cars and trucks! It seems intermitant, but the clock display issue has been pretty consistent, though off and on. I have a video of the issue if you want it. I will attach an image.
The 8.4 u connect is delaminating and continue,s to beep and ask do you want to reset the clock . It has become distracting also other functions of the 8.4 u connect do not respond
The Uconnect 8.4 LCD screen is delaminating which is causing severe ghost touch issues. When using navigation, the map starts shaking to the point of distraction. You can't turn off the screen because the ghost-click turns it back on. We have to keep it on the phone favorites screen without favorite numbers saved so it can't ghost click anything. Dodge and Uconnect are refusing to pay for replacement screen because the warranty is expired, even though the issue was documented before the warranty expired. We did not feel comfortable going to the dealership for service before warranty expired because of COVID.
Delaminated touch screen creates errant touches.
THE NAVIGATION IS REPORTING I'M IN ANOTHER STATE, ALSO THE ENTIRE RADIO SCREEN AND FUNCTIONS STOP WORKING AND SWITCH BACK AND FORTH WITHOUT TOUCHING IT.
The contact owns a 2018 Dodge Charger. The contact stated while operating the vehicle the touch screen display had delaminated and dethatched causing the back-up camera to become inoperable. The cause of the failure was not yet determined, and the vehicle was not yet repaired. The local dealer was contacted regarding the failure and the owner was informed that the display screen needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 47,000.
2018 Dodge Charger with only 6900 miles. Issue began in fall 2020 at about 6700 miles, shortly after the 3 year bumper to bumper warranty ended. U-CONNECT 8.4 System malfunctions as often as twice per second and perhaps 30 times per minute, causing unsafe distractions (multiple beeps) and possibly more. Sometimes it is the radio switching channels, with an annoying beep each time. Sometimes it is a clock setting display which pops up with a beep asking "Do you want to change clock settings?" When these thing happen, other electronics act up - map and navigation goes crazy, phone bluetooth interface goes crazy. When U-Connect is acting up badly, the rearview backup camera sometimes does not work when transmission is shifted into reverse. The U-Connect can be used to adjust drive-train performance thus representing the possibility of an additional safety hazard. Disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it seems to reset it but only helps for a little while; from 1 minute to a day before it starts acting crazy again.
U-Connect Bluetooth Radio changes stations on its own radio makes awful beeping sounds display asking do i want to adjust Clock Settings sometimes back up camera disables itself
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE RADIO WOULD INADVERTENTLY TURN ON AND OFF AND CHANGE RADIO STATIONS INDEPENDENTLY. ADDITIONALLY, THE BLUETOOTH FUNCTION WOULD INDEPENDENTLY ACTIVATE, DIAL A NUMBER AND THEN HANG UP THE CALL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GRIFFIN CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (961 E US 74 HWY, HAMLET, NC 28345) TO BE INSPECTED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RADIO CONSOLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO AN UNSTATED ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
THE U CONNECT TOUCH SCREEN IS DEFECTIVE. THIS IS A PROBLEM WHERE THE TOUCH SCREEN BUTTONS ACTIVATE ON THEIR OWN RANDOMLY, CONSTANTLY ACROSS ALL SCREEN CONTROL SYSTEMS. THIS DEFECT IS ACTIVATING MULTIPLE CAR SYSTEMS INCLUDING SEAT HEATERS, RADIO, BLUETOOTH, ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS, ODOMETER UNITS, AND 911 CALLING, THE CAR HAS BECOME UNSAFE DUE TO ACTIVATION OF MULTIPLE SYSTEMS WHILE DRIVING. THE PROBLEM IS VERY PREVALENT AMONG DODGE CHRYSLER VEHICLES. I CONTACTED DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY WILL NOT REPLACE IT FOR FREE. I WANT ME TO COME OUT THE POCKET AND PAY FOR THE FULL SERVICE AND THEY REFUSED TO RECALL THIS UCONNECT CONTROL SYSTEM.
THE U-CONNECT TOUCH SCREEN IS DEFECTIVE. THIS A "GHOSTING" PROBLEM WHERE THE TOUCH SCREEN BUTTONS ACTIVATE ON THEIR OWN, RANDOMLY, CONSTANTLY ACROSS ALL SCREEN CONTROL SYSTEMS. THIS DEFECT IS ACTIVATING MULTIPLE CAR SYSTEMS INCLUDING SEAT HEATERS, RADIO, BLUETOOTH, ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS, ODOMETER UNITS, AND 911 CALLING. THE CAR HAS BECOME UNSAFE DUE TO ACTIVATION OF MULTIPLE SYSTEMS WHILE DRIVING. THE PROBLEM IS VERY PREVALENT AMONG DODGE CHRYSLER VEHICLES. I CONTACTED DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY REFUSED TO REPAIR OR RECALL THIS U-CONNECT CONTROL SYSTEM.
THE BACK CAMERA LAGS AFTER THE CAR SITS FOR A FEW HOURS. IT HAS MAJOR LAGS AND DISRUPTIONS. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THAT DODGE IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT HASN'T DONE ANYTHING ABOUT IT YET
THIS IS THE SECOND 2018 CHARGER 392 IVE HAD. THE ISSUE IS THE UCONNECT SYSTEM WILL ATTEMPT TO CONNECT TO MY PHONE WHEN THE CAR HAS BEEN FULLY TURNED OFF. IF IT CONNECTS SUCCESFULLY THE RADIO WILL START UP BY ITSELF AND DRAIN MY CARS BATTERY. ON MY ORIGINAL 2018 CHARGER IT KILLED THE BATTERY COMPLETELY. ON THIS NEW ONE I KEEP CORRECTING THE ISSUE BY DISCONNECTING MY PHONE GOING BACK TO THE CAR AND CYCLING THE POWER TO RETURN IT OFF. THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY.
DODGE CHRYSLER (AND OTHER AUTO MANUFACTURERS) HAVE SOYBASED WIRING INSTALLED IN THE NEWER CARS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE SOYBEAN BASED COVERING ON THE WIRES IS ALSO A RODENT ATTRACTANT MEANING RODENTS ARE EATING THE WIRING THAT CONNECTS THE ABS BRAKE SYSTEM, FUEL PRESSURE SYSTEM AND OTHER SENSITIVE SYSTEMS. ONCE THE RODENTS CHEW COMPLETELY THROUGH THE WIRES THE GAS WILL SHUT OFF OR THE BRAKES WILL FAIL THUS THIS WILL DEFINITELY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OF SOME SORT. CAN WE, THE CONSUMERS LIVE WITH THIS? NO IT COSTS US MORE MONEY IN THE LONG RUN TO REPAIR THE WIRING ISSUE THAT WAS CAUSED BY THE AUTO MANUFACTURER!!!! WHAT RECOURSE DOES THE CONSUMER HAVE???
UCONNECT UNIT FAILURE ON NEW VEHICLE 16 DAYS AFTER PURCHASING. UCONNECT SPORADIC REBOOTING OF CENTER CONSOLE INCLUDING CLIMATE, RADIO, BACKUP CAMERA, PERFORMANCE GAUGES, AND REMOTE VEHICLE SERVICES. HAPPENS WHEN VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR IN MOTION.
