TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND A FAILURE CODE WAS LOCATED AT THE BATTERY WIRES. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BATTERY AND ADJUSTED THE WIRES; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE BATTERY FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO STALL. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER REQUESTING INFORMATION ON NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V128000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.

THE VEHICLE SAYS "DRIVER DOOR AJAR" AT RANDOM TIMES WHEN THE DOOR ISN'T ACTUALLY OPEN (FROM DOING NOTHING MORE THAN OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR, ROLLING DOWN THE WINDOW, LOCKING THE DOORS, ETC.). WHILE THIS MAY SEEM MORE LIKE A HASSLE THAN A SAFETY ISSUE, IT IS TOO AN ISSUE OF SAFETY. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN "DOOR AJAR" MODE THE DOME LIGHTS COME ON. THIS IS DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN "DOOR AJAR" MODE, THE CAR WILL NOT LOCK. PEOPLE NEED TO BE ABLE TO LOCK THEIR VEHICLE FOR SAFETY REASONS THAT I PROBABLY DON'T NEED TO SPELL OUT. I'VE READ A FEW FORD FORUMS, WITH NUMEROUS PEOPLE DISCUSSING THIS SAME ISSUE. WHY HASN'T THEIR BEEN A RECALL TO ADDRESS THIS? *TR

DRIVING HOME WITH 2 BABIES UNDER THE AGE OF 3 IN MY CAR THE AIRBAG AND WRENCH LIGHT FLASHED AND ODOMETER HAD DASHES. CAR BEGAN TO LOSE POWER I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. TURNED THE CAR OFF WENT TO PUT IT INTO REVERSE AND THE WHOLE CAR JUMPED. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS BEFORE WITH THE CAR JERKING WHEN GOING LOW SPEEDS. THIS IS SO BAD. CAN NOT PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE WITHOUT A LOUD CLUNK. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE SERVICE ENGINE AND SEAT BELT SENSORS SUDDENLY ILLUMINATED. A MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATING "DATA ERROR". THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED OPERATING DURING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY ONCE THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURES SOON RECURRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT MULTIPLE SENSORS WERE FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.

DRIVERS SIDE REAR TURN SIGNAL BULB BURNT OUT. WHEN REPLACED IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT BOTH REAR LIGHT SOCKETS WERE BURNT BLACK AND BEGINNING TO MELT. THE MECHANIC REPLACING THE BULBS INFORMED ME THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD EDGES. *JS

WHEN DRIVING ALL OF A SUDDEN THE TRUCK SPEEDOMETER GOES BLANK, THE ODOMETER DROPS TO ZERO AND THE WRENCH, AIRBAG AND EVENTUALLY THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHTS ILLUMINATE. WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR STRUGGLES TO ACCELERATE BECAUSE IT STARTS LOSING POWER. I THEN HAVE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD, TURN THE CAR OFF AND ALLOW THE CAR TO RESET ITSELF. I TURN THE CAR ON, THE LIGHTS ARE OUT BUT WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE THERE IS STILL LITTLE POWER SO I HAVE TO PRESS THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR AN THEN THE POWER KICKS IN AND THE CAR OPERATES NORMAL. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME 4-5 TIMES, ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS IS A SAFE HAZARD BECAUSE IT CAN POTENTIALLY CAUSE A TRAGIC ACCIDENT. *JS

THE AUDIO SYSTEM IN MY 2008 EDGE CONTAINS A GPS AND SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO AS WELL AS THE NORMAL OPTIONS. ONE MORNING, THE SIRIUS RADIO RECEPTION WAS DEGRADED TO THE POINT THAT THE SIGNAL COULD ONLY BE HEARD WEAKLY AT FULL VOLUME. I WORKED THROUGH THE DIAGNOSTICS WITH SIRIUS AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A FORD HARDWARE PROBLEM. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALER, WHO CHARGED ME $98 TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC THAT POINTED TO A BROKEN ANTENNA MOUNT ASSEMBLY, WITH A PRICE TAG OF $600 BEFORE LABOR. I DID NOT ACCEPT THE OFFER. TWO WEEKS LATER, THE PROBLEM SUDDENLY RESOLVED ITSELF AND RECEPTION RETURNED TO NORMAL. AT NO TIME DURING THIS PROCESS DID I MESS WITH THE CONNECTIONS TO THE RECEIVER (IN THE SPARE TIRE COMPARTMENT) OR THE "ANTENNA" THAT SITS ON THE SPOILER.

REPEATED ISSUE WITH THE BULBS IN TAIL LIGHTS BURNING THE SOCKETS, BULBS BURN OUT CAUSING THE SOCKET TO GET A SINGED APPEARANCE WHERE THE BULB FITS. BULB IS PROPRIETARY TO FORD SO IT HAS TO BE TAKEN IN AND THEY REFUSED TO REPLACE THE SOCKET A SECOND TIME. ADVISED AT ONE POINT THAT IT COULD CAUSE GETTING A TICKET OR REAR ENDED AND INJURIES. AT THAT POINT THEY CHANGED IT OUT THE FIRST TIME. BUT STILL HAD THE BULB BURN OUT. THE BULB HAS BEEN CHANGED ABOUT 6 TIMES NOW AND STILL HAVING PROBLEMS

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN INFORMED THAT DENSE SMOKE WAS EMITTING FROM UNDER THE HOOD NEAR THE BATTERY. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED BY A NEIGHBOR AND THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NO LONGER OPERATE AND WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO REPLACED UNKNOWN MODULES AND THE WIRING HARNESS. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS AWAITING A RESPONSE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 68,000.

PURCHASED 2008 FORD EDGE LIMITED IN AUGUST '10. 1 PREVIOUS OWNER, 26K, MINT CONDITION. SUPPOSEDLY BATTERY WAS REPLACED UPON PURCHASE. WITHIN 1 WEEK AFTER PURCHASE UP UNTIL PRESENT DATE, NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS/COMMENTS WERE PLACED TO 2 DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIPS REGARDING A 'HICCUP' WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND IDLING (RANDOM AND INTERMITTENT). 1 DEALERSHIP SERVICED THE CAR END OF AUGUST AND FOUND NO PROBLEM. 2ND DEALERSHIP SERVICED VEHICLE ON OCTOBER 13 AND 14 AND COULDN'T FIND PROBLEM. VEHICLE BROKE DOWN 1ST TIME THE DAY AFTER IT HAD BEEN SERVICED, OCTOBER 15TH- LOST COMPLETE ACCELERATION BUT NOT BATTERY POWER. NOTICED WRENCH LIGHT AND AIRBAG LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED ON DASHBOARD AS WELL AS "ODO...ERROR". TURNED CAR OFF AND THEN ON AND WHEN PLACED IN 'DRIVE', HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND CAR JERKED, NO ACCELERATION, SAME SITUATION WHEN CAR PLACED IN PARK. DEALERSHIP INSPECTED VEHICLE AND STATED THAT BATTERY TERMINALS WERE COMPLETELY LOOSE (MECHANIC NEVER TIGHTENED TERMINALS UPON REPLACEMENT OF BATTERY AND DEALERSHIP ADMITTED LIABILITY/NEGLIGENCE) AND 'SEVERELY' CORRODED. SINCE 1ST BREAK DOWN, SAME HICCUP (RANDOM, INTERMITTENT) IS FELT AND MORE COMPLAINTS/COMMENTS WERE PLACED TO BOTH DEALERSHIPS. CAR WAS SCHEDULED TO GO BACK FOR ANOTHER SERVICE VISIT FOR COMPLAINT BUT VEHICLE BROKE DOWN FOR 2ND TIME PRIOR TO SERVICE DATE WITH DEALERSHIP.NOVEMBER 19TH, VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION, WRENCH AND AIRBAG LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED ON DASHBOARD AND 'ODO...ERROR". ATTEMPTED TO PLACE VEHICLE IN REVERSE AND LOUD NOISE WAS HEARD, VEHICLE JERKED AND WHEN VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN PARK, SAME NOISE AND JERK. PRESENTLY THE VEHICLE IS BACK WITH THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE. *TR

VEHICLE STALLS WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE 18 MONTHS. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES. TWICE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND ONCE ON A LOCAL STREET. THE FIRST EVENT THE VEHICLE HAD APPROX 2K MILES. THEN AGAIN AT APPROX 12K AND 14K. WHEN IT HAPPENS THE DASH GOES DARK, YOU LOSE ALL POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. VEHICLE CAN BE RESTARTED IN NEUTRAL WHILE MOVING. DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN UNABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM. *TR

DASH CLUSTER (SPEEDOMETER) IS NOT VISIBLE DURING CERTAIN TIMES OF THE DAY WHILE DRIVING CREATING A SAFETY HAZARD. BACKGROUND ON VEHICLE CLUSTER IS SILVER AND THE ILLUMINATED NUMBERS ARE NEON GREEN. WHEN LIGHTS ARE REQUIRED FOR DRIVING DURING DUSK, THE NUMBERS DISAPPEAR FROM VIEW. THERE ARE TIMES THAT WE LEAVE OUR LIGHTS OFF WHEN THEY ARE NEEDED BECAUSE IT IS EASIER TO SEE THE DASH INSTRUMENTS. IF WE TURNED ON THE LIGHTS, THE NUMBERS WOULD DISAPPEAR AND WE WOULDN'T KNOW HOW FAST WE WERE TRAVELING. EVEN DURING NIGHT DRIVING THE NUMBERS ARE ONLY SOFTLY ILLUMINATED. BROUGHT BACK TO DEALER THREE TIMES TO HAVE THIS CORRECTED BUT THEY SAY THEY CANNOT TOUCH THE ODOMETER AREA OR CHANGE THE COLOR DUE TO FEDERAL REGULATIONS. THEY SAY THAT THE PART MUST MATCH THE ORIGINAL VIN NUMBER. WE FEEL IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. OUR DEALER IS WILLING TO WORK WITH US BUT FORD WILL NOT. THE CAR IS BRAND NEW (ONLY 6,000 MILES ON IT). AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH WE HAVE FOUND THAT THERE ARE THREE DIFFERENT DASH CLUSTERS FOR THIS VEHICLE. ALL WE WANT IS ONE THAT IMPROVES OUR SAFETY AND HAS BETTER VISIBILITY. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. WHENEVER IT IS DARK OR CLOUDY, THE CONTACT IS UNABLE TO READ THE NUMBERS ON THE SPEEDOMETER. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED EVER SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT DOES NOT KNOW HOW FAST HE IS DRIVING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY DID NOT ASSIST IN REMEDYING THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT PURCHASED AN ANGLE MIRROR IN AN ATTEMPT TO HAVE THE LIGHT REFLECT OFF OF IT; HOWEVER, THAT DID NOT HELP. HE BELIEVES THAT IT NEEDED TO BE MANUFACTURED DIFFERENTLY BECAUSE ON DAYS WITHOUT BRIGHT SUN LIGHT, IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO DETERMINE HOW FAST HE IS DRIVING.
