THE TRANSMISSION STARTS SLIPPING WITH NO WARNING AND CAR WON'T GO ABOVE 5MPH UNTIL YOU STOP TURN CAR OFF AND WAIT ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND RESTART CAR THE WORKS FINE FOR AWHILE THEN STARTS AGAIN
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND SUDDENLY MY SPEED GAUGE STOPED WORKING. SO I PULLED OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT IT OFF. TURNED IT BACK ON AND PUT IT BACK INTO DRIVE IT JERKED HARD AND WOULDN'T MOVE UNTIL I FLOORED IT THEN IT MOVED SLOWLY THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE SEEMS DANGEROUS
TRANSMISSION RECALLS
WHEN YOU STEP ON THE GAS THERE IS NO POWER. WHEN THIS HAPPENED THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THE SPEEDOMETER. WOULDN'T WORK THE TACK REVED UP THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE LITTLE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR WOULD NOT GO. NOW IT'S GOING TO COST AROUND $3000.00 TO FIX IS WHAT I WAS TOLD AND THE CAR ONLY HAS 90,000 MILES ON IT. I SEE A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. FORD SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL FOR THESE TRANSMISSIONS. BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN I LOST POWER GOOD THING I COULD PULL OVER SAFELY.
VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY FEELS LIKE IM CONSTANTLY BEING REAR ENDED UPON PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL AND ACCELERATING AT HIGHER SPEEDS/GEAR. HAD A HARD THUMPING BANG INTO GEAR LIKE THE TRANSMISSION BANGS INTO GEAR. SHIFTS FINE ON NORMAL ROADS BUT ONLY NOTICE ON THE HIGHWAY ESPECIALLY IN TRAFIIC WITH STOP GO SHIFTING. VERY SCARY TO DRIVE AND AFTER IT HAPPENS IT FEELS LIKE IT HAS NO POWER ACCELERATING. MECHANIC CANT DIAGNOSE DUE TO NOT HAVING ANY CODE STORED. SEEMS LIKE MANY EDGE OWNERS EXPERIENCE THIS SAME ISSUE AND CANT SEEM TO FIX THIS. HOPEFULLY FORD HAS THIS RECALL ADDRESSED VERY SOON. THE ONLY REASON WHY I BOUGHT THIS VEHICHLE WAS SAFETY AND IT SEEMS EVERY RECALL ISNT LIVING UP TO THAT STANDARD.
GOING 55 MPH. ALL OF A SUDDEN CAR LOSE POWER. ENGINE SOUNDS LIKE IT'S IN NEUTRAL BUT SHIFT LEVER IS IN D. IF YOU PRESS GAS, ENGINE SPEED SHOWS ON THE TACH BUT TRANSMISSION NOT RESPONDING. MADE A VERY HARROWING CONDITION AS I TRIED TO FIND A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER. WHEN SHIFTED FROM D TO P, VERY HARD JERKING MOTION THAT SHOOK THE CAR VIOLENTLY, TRANS MAKES A VERY HARD CLUNKING NOISE, AND AS IF WANTS TO SEPARATE FROM THE ENGINE. SAME RESULT WHEN SHIFTED FROM P TO R, AND P TO D. CAR IS CURRENTLY PARKED WAITING FOR MECHANIC TO DIAGNOSE. DON'T HAVE MONEY TO TAKE IT TO OVERPRICED DEALER. FROM WHAT I CAN SEE FROM BLOGS, FORUMS, BOARDS, ETC, ON THE INTERNET LOOKS LIKE NOT AN ISOLATED CASE.
TRANSMISSION SENSORS ARE BAD AND VEHICLE HAS 80,000 MILES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED VIOLENT VIBRATION AND SHAKING. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE AUTO NATION FORD DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PCM HAD BURNED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 128,822.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED AS IT SLOWED DOWN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DOWNSHIFTING ROUGHLY. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
ODO ERROR DATA ERROR WHILE DRIVING. ODOMETER STOPS WORKING, WRENCH LIGHT TURNS ON, THEN AIR BAG LIGHT. LOSS OF POWER, TRANSMISSION GETS STUCK IN GEAR. YOU CAN'T ACCELERATE AND HAVE TO CRUISE ON TO THE RIGHT TO PULL OVER. HAPPENED TWICE, ONCE ON THE FREEWAY. CODE GOES TO THE SPEED SENSOR WHICH CONTROLS THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING. AFTER YOU TURN OFF YOUR CAR AND TURN IT ON CODE RESETS HOWEVER CAR IS STUCK IN GEAR. AFTER A FEW HARD SHIFTS FINALLY GOES BACK INTO GEAR. FORD DEALERSHIP SAYS COMMON PROBLEM HOWEVER CAN'T FIGURE OUT IF ITS A HARNESS OR THE SENSORS. REPLACING SENSORS REQUIRES DROPPING THE TRANSMISSION.
I HAVE A 2008 EDGE W/ 120K MILES AND ONCE IN A WHILE, IT GETS STUCK IN THE 1ST GEAR. IT DID IT TO ME TWICE IN ONE MONTH, AND I NOTICE IT WHEN I'M GOING DOWN HILL (LIKE A PARKING GARAGE). ONCE I'M OUT ON THE STREET, THAT'S WHERE IT GETS STUCK IN THE FIRST GEAR. I HAD TO PULL OVER TURN OFF THE EDGE WAIT FOR ABOUT 1 MINUTE AND STARTED IT BACK UP, AND I LIKE IT RESETS THE SYSTEM CAUSE IT WORKS FINE AFTER THAT.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE TRANSMISSION SKIPPED A COUPLE OF TIMES. AFTER STOPPING THE TRANSMISSION MADE A WHINING NOISE. WHEN I MOVED FORWARD IT WAS VERY SLOW TO MOVE AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY. ARRIVING HOME I PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE AND IT MADE A CLUNKING NOISE. IT IS CURRENTLY AT THE TRANSMISSION SHOP FOR EVALUATION.
VEHICLE OFTEN SHIFTS HARD. IN THE (7) YEARS THAT WE'VE HAD THE 2008 FORD EDGE, THERE HAVE BEEN (6) OCCASIONS THAT WE HAVE BEEN TRAVELLING 60 TO 70 MPH AND THE SPEEDOMETER WILL FALL TO ZERO, AND THE ODOMETER WILL READ "ODOMETER DATA ERROR". WE CAN STILL TRAVEL AT 60MPH OR SO BUT THE ENGINE RPMS CLIMB TO 3000 AND YOU LOSE POWER. YOU CAN'T CLIMB A HILL, EXCEPT IN REVERSE, AND UNLESS YOU'RE ON LEVEL GROUND YOU CAN'T MOVE AT ALL. THE "WRENCH" LIGHTS UP ON THE DASH AND THE ONLY WAY TO GET OUT OF THIS SITUATION IS TO STOP THE VEHICLE, TURN OFF THE IGNITION AND WAIT FOR 5 TO 10 MINUTES FOR EVERYTHING TO RESET. I'M VERY CONCERNED FOR MY FAMILY'S SAFETY ON THE HIGHWAYS AS THEY TRAVEL WITHOUT ME QUITE OFTEN.
WHILE REGULAR DRIVING OR WHEN IN THE PROCESS OF ENGAGING A STOP SIGN THE CAR ENGINE DISENGAGES FROM THE TRANSMISSION AND LOOSE ANY CONNECTION BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. IF ONE STEPS ON THE GAS THE TRANSMISSION MAKES A HOLLOWING NOISE AND FAILS TO MOVE, THE ENGINE RPM INCREASE WITH PRESSING THE GAS PADEL BUT THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT ENGAGE AS IF ONE IS LOW ON TRANSMISSION FLUID. IN ORDER FOR THE CAR TO ENGAGE INTO MOTION ONE HAS TO SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE COMPLETE AND THEN RESTART THE CAR WHERE AFTER IT JUST RUN S FINE AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED. WE HAVE ENCOUNTERED THIS SITUATION THREE TIMES THIS YEAR. THE CAR HAS AROUND 58600 MILES ON IT. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION TO BE IN SPECIALLY OF ONE IS ENCOURAGING AND INTERSECTION ETC AND IS VERY SCARY TO DRIVE AT TIMES...THANK YOU. WE CALLED THE FORD DEALER AND THEY TOLD US THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD ANY THING LIKE THIS...THIS ALL HAPPENED ON CITY STREETS AND WHILE THE CAR WAS MOVING OR WHEN COMING TO A STOP SIGN.
2008 FORD EDGE ON OCCASION WILL JERK WHEN TAKING OFF
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE, 2008 FORD EDGE SEL AWD NOVEMBER 2014 WITH APPROXIMATELY 82,000 MILES ON IT. LAST NIGHT WHEN DRIVING HOME IN VERY SLOW TRAFFIC 5 TO 10 MPH DUE TO SNOW ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN TRAFFIC PICKED UP SPEED I COULDN'T ACCELERATE AS THE RPM PICKED UP BUT THE TRANSMISSION WOULDN'T SHIFT OUT OF LOW. MY FORD EDGE ACTED LIKE IT WOULDN'T SHIFT UP FROM LOW SO I COULD KEEP UP WITH TRAFFIC. I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE SHOULDER NOT KNOWING WHAT TO DO NEXT. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTED AND IT ACCELERATED FINE SO I COULD KEEP UP WITH THE MAJOR TRAFFIC FLOW. AND I DID NOTICE RECENTLY IT DOES MAKE A CLUNK WHEN I SHIFT INTO REVERSE. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE HERE AS NOT BEING ABLE TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC QUICKLY AND SAFELY AND HAVING TO PULL OVER ON THE SHOULDER TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTART IF THERE EVEN IS A SHOULDER TO PULL OVER TOO COULD BE A DANGER TO MYSELF AND OTHERS.
MY CAR HAS MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS COME ON ALL AT THE SAME TIME. MY DASH SAYS ODO SYSTEM FAIL, THEN IS SAYS THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR FAILS, THE WRENCH FOR TRANSMISSION COMES ON, THEN THE TIRE PRESSURE SYMBOL COMES ON AND FLASHES, THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. THEN MY ODOMETER GOES TO ZERO. IF I SLOW DOWN TO A STOP SIGN OR SOMETHING, I PUSH THE GAS AND THE RPM'S ON MY CAR GO WAY UP BUT MY CAR HARDLY MOVES. ONCE I GET GOING TO A HIGHER SPEED, THE RPM'S GO DOWN...IT IS ALMOST LIKE IT IS STUCK IN A HIGH GEAR. THEN WHEN I PUT MY CAR INTO DRIVE AFTER IT WAS IN PARK, MY CAR JOLTS AND MAKES A HUGE CLANKING NOISE. IF I SHUT MY CAR OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON, IT MAKES A LOUD CLANKING NOISE BUT ALL MY WARNING LIGHTS TURN OFF EXCEPT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THEN WHEN I PUSH THE GAS AGAIN, IT IS STILL BARELY MOVING AND IN HIGH RPM'S BUT IT WILL RANDOMLY KICK INTO WHATEVER GEAR IT NEEDS TO BE IN AND MAKE ANOTHER LOUD CLANKING SOUND AND RUN FINE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I AM NOT SURE WHY IT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED YET. THIS HAPPENED TO ME FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE MIDDLE OF A FOUR WAY STOP AND I BLOCKED THE INTERSECTION AND ALMOST GOT HIT BY ANOTHER CAR. THIS IS EVENTUALLY GOING TO CAUSE GREAT HARM OR EVEN DEATH TO SOMEONE.
MY VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION ACTS LIKES IT'S SLIPPING OR IN NEUTRAL WHEN IT'S NOT. JERKS WHEN IT SHIFTS GEARS. LOSES POWER WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE. I DID SOME RESEARCH THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSIONS IN THE FORD EDGE'S. I STARTED HAVING ISSUES SEVERAL WEEKS AGO BACK IN OCTOBER 2016. WHY SHOULD ALL THE OWNERS OF THESE DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS TO BE FIXED. THAT'S NOT RIGHT! WE GAVE FORD OUR HARD EARNED MONEY JUST TO GET A DEFECTIVE VEHICLE. TALKED TO FORD TODAY AND THEY DON'T CARE. NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING THEY STATED. TODAY I WAS AT A 4 WAY STOP IN A SCHOOL ZONE AND WHEN I WANTED TO TAKE OFF IT ACTED LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. I GOT TO WHERE I COULD PULL OVER AND SAT THERE A FEW MINUTES AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT THE OTHER MILE HOME. IT CLUNKS WHEN CHANGING GEARS AND JERKS. IT IS A INTERMITTENT PROBLEM AS IT DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERYDAY.
THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT THEN PROCEEDED TO DRIVE OFF OR ACCELERATE UNABLE TO MOVE. GAVE MORE GAS NO ACCELERATION ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE SHOULDER NOTICED THE TOOL BAR ON DASH. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAITED 5 MINUTES THEN STARTED THE CAR AND PUT INTO DRIVE A LOUD THUD WAS HEARD THEN THE TOOL BAR WENT AWAY WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO DEALER. DURING THE DRIVE CAR DIDN'T RESPOND WELL TO ACCELERATION BUT RPMS INCREASED BUT CAR DIDN'T INCREASE IN SPEED. ALL OF THIS OCCURRED ON A CITY STREET WITHOUT TURNS
DRIVING STRAIGHT ON FREEWAY AT 70 MPH AND THE DASH SUDDENLY DISPLAYS ODO ERROR. WRENCH LIGHT, LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT, AND AIR BAG LIGHT COME ON. SPEEDOMETER SHOWS 0 MPH BUT TACH STILL WORKS. AFTER I STOP THE CAR AND TRY TO TAKE OFF AGAIN IT HAS NO PICKUP. TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO BE STUCK IN 5TH GEAR OR OVERDRIVE. TACH GOES UP TO 2500 RPM BUT VEHICLE BARELY MOVES. WHEN I SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE OR REVERSE THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION MAKES A HORRIBLE CLUNKING NOISE THAT MAKES ME THINK IT WILL COME OUT OF THE BODY. THE ONLY WAY I CAN GET THE CAR DRIVEABLE AGAIN IS TO DISCONNECT BATTERY FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN RECONNECT. EVERYTHING RESETS AND WORKS BUT OCCURS AGAIN-SOMETIMES A WEEK LATER, SOMETIMES A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER.
WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET CAME TO STOP AT STOP SIGN WENT TO PROCEED VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AIR BAG LIGHT ON NO ODO DATA WHERE ODOMETER MILEAGE SHOULD BE ROLLED CAR TO CURB NO RESPONSE FROM TRANSMISSION HUT OFF CAR WAITED A MIN OR TWO RESTARTED CAR BACK TO NORMAL ADVISED DEALER TOOK CAR IN A DAY LATER AFTER 2 DAYS OF TEST DRIVING CAR HAD SAME ISSUE FOR THEM DEALER RETRIEVED PROBLEM CODE P0722 FOUND BOTH OSS AND TSS SENSORS SHORTED BOTH SENSORS REPLACED CAR OK NOW COST $835.00 THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE FIXED BY RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE HURT OR KILLED THANK GOD I WAS ON CITY STREET AT TIME OF ISSUE NOT ON HIGHWAY DEALER WOULD NOT TEST ON HIGHWAY DID NOT WANT TO HAVE TO PAY FOR TOW TRUCK
STOPPED AT A LIGHT WOULD NOT PULL FORWARD AFTERWARDS LOUD CLUNKING NOISE, AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON, SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON, ODOMETER WENT TO ZERO, CAR WOULD JERK WHILE IN GEAR BUT WOULDN'T MOVE FORWARD OR REVERSE. I'VE DONE SOME RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM, HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH 2007 AND 2008 EDGE. WITH MOST BEING TRANSMISSION SENSOR FAILURE. FORD KNOWS OF THIS PROBLEM WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT WARNING. THE ENGINE REVVED AND THE RPMS INCREASED. WHEN THE GEAR WAS SHIFTED INTO THE PARK POSITION, THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY ROAD THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE WHEN GIVEN GAS. MULTIPLE LIGHTS WENT ON THE DASH BOARD. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION BECAUSE THE CAR LITERALLY JUST STOPPED ACCELERATING WHILE IN MOTION. MECHANIC DIAGNOSED PROBLEM AS A FAULTY OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR IN THE TRANSMISSION. THIS IS AN ON GOING ISSUE THAT MANY FORD EDGE OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING BUT FORD IS NOT ACKNOWLEDGING THE PROBLEM. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL AS THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE. I SHOULD ALSO BE REIMBURSED BY FORD FOR THE REPAIR.
WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, I CAME TO A STOP LIGHT. WHEN IT WAS TIME TO GO, MY EDGE WOULD NOT MOVE. I HAD TO PRESS THE GAS PEDAL TO GET TO MOVE VERY SLOWLY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THIS HAS HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES. ALSO, I STOPPED AT MY GARAGE DOOR AND WHEN IT WAS TIME TO GO IN, MY CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I PUT IT IN REVERSE AND GOT A LOUD CLANKING SOUND. I REVVED THE MOTOR VERY HIGH TO GET IT TO SLOWLY INCH INTO THE GARAGE. THOUGHT IT MIGHT GO OUT THE OTHER SIDE SINCE THE GAS PEDAL WAS PRESSED PRETTY FAR DOWN, MADE IT. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM. PAID CLOSE TO $1000 FOR REPAIRS. LESS THAN 1200 MILES MY PROBLEMS STARTED AGAIN, THIS TIME I'M TOLD I NEED TO REPLACE MY SENSORS, I DID ($900). NOW I'M BACK AGAIN. SAME PROBLEM. THIS TIME I'M TOLD I NEED TO HAVE MY COIL ASSY AND MAIN CONTROL CHECKED AND REPAIR. PROBLEM STARTING AGAIN. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. COULD RESULT IN A INJURY WHEN YOU ARE PULLING INTO TRAFFIC.
