TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE FAIL SAFE MODE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AS THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY DECELERATED AND STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WOULD NEED CLEANING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL MONTHS LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE ENTIRE THROTTLE BODY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURE WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED HOME WHERE SHE REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR. APPROXIMATELY 5 MONTHS LATER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE STARTER WAS REPLACED. APPROXIMATELY 1 MONTH LATER THE FAILURE BEGAN TO INTERMITTENTLY RECUR. DURING ONE OF THE FAILURES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO BEGAN TO ILLUMINATE ON THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE THROTTLE BODY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 87,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATIONS. THE CONTACT WAS IN THE PROCESS OF TAKING THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING.
