The contact stated that the check engine and Advancetrac warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission lead frame needed to be replaced. The contact researched and was became aware of an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 148,000.

The contact's father owns a 2014 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while his father was driving at an undisclosed speed, the speedometer was fluctuating. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, where it was diagnosed that the valve body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the contact stated while his father was driving 60 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted to 1st gear. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The driver pulled over to the side of the road temporarily. The driver was able to continue driving; however, the vehicle failed to exceed 40 MPH. The contact who is an independent mechanic diagnosed the vehicle. The contact determined that the failure was related to an unstated recall. The contact stated that the failure fractured the rocker arms, causing the needle bearings to intrude into engine. The contact determined that the engine needed to be replaced. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SKID AND THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL. THE CONTACT PLACED THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE AND ACCELERATED OFF THE HIGHWAY. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND RESUME NORMAL DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO AMES FORD LINCOLN (123 AIRPORT RD, AMES, IA 50010, (515) 233-1913)WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE GASKETS, CONNECTORS, AND TRANSMISSION FLUID NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
