CAR IN MOTION, HESITATES AND SOMETIME GOES TO LOW POWER MODE WHERE YOU HAVE TO PULL OVER, TURN CAR OFF WAIT AND RESTART TO BE ABLE TO CONTINUE THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN 2 YEARS, DEALERSHIP DECODES AND REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY, CHARGING EACH TIME TO FIX THE ISSUE
VEHICLE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN WHLIE DRIVEING AT ANY GIVEN TIME, GEAR AND SPEEDS. ALL ELECTRICAL PARTS REMAINS WORKING. STOP AND RESTART THE CAR AND IT'S WORKING AGAIN FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN AGAIN.WHILE IN MOTION. HOWEVER IT SEAMS TO HAPPEN WHEN YOU ACCELERATE, AND IF YOU KEEP A CONSTANT RPM THE CAR LASTS LONGER BEFORE THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN. NO ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON AT FIRST ONLY AFTER FEW SHUTDOWN. WHEN CHECKING THE ERROR CODE ITS P2112
WHEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY THE ENGINE GOES INTO LIMP MODE 3MPH MAX. DISPLAYS WRENCH SYMBOL ON INSTRUMENTATION PANEL.. NO POSSIBLE ACCELERATION POSSIBLE.. VERY DANGEROUS IF YOU WERE ENTERING AN INTERSECTION ON HIGHWAY. I COULD SEE POSSIBLE FATALITIES. IF YOU SHUT OFF ENGINE AND RESTART WILL RUN AS NORMAL FOR ABOUT A MILE THAN SAME SCENARIO. RAN CODE SHOWED "P2112" FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. IF YOU WERE CROSSING A HIGHWAY I COULD SEE GETTING T-BONED . PLEASE EDUCATE OWNERS TO SAVE LIVES.9.12.18
WELL KNOWN THROTTLE BODY ISSUE ACROSS THE FORD LINE. NOT COVERED UNDER LIFETIME WARRANTY. SUDDEN DECELERATION AND STOPPAGE DUE TO ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILURE.
55,000 MILES. ORANGE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT CAME ON DRIVING THROUGH TOWN ABOUT 25 MPH. LOST POWER AND COASTED ACROSS THE RAIL ROAD TRACKS IN TOWN. VEHICLE WAS STILL RUNNING, HOWEVER HAD NO POWER AND MINIMAL IDLE SPEED. I GOT PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. DIAGNOSTIC SAID TO CHECK MANUAL. I TRIED TO DO THAT AND THE VEHICLE WASN'T IDLING THE BEST, SO I SHUT IT OFF. I WAS AT A BUSY INTERSECTION AND WAS ON MY WAY TO PICK UP MY DAUGHTER FROM HER FIRST DAY AT DAYCARE, SO IN A LITTLE DISARRAY. I TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON AND REGAINED FULL FUNCTIONALITY. THE NEXT DAY IT REPLICATED THE ERROR TWICE IN ABOUT A 4 MILE STRETCH. I GOT IT SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED THEN DIRECTLY OVER TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY HAVE HAD IT FOR 8 DAYS AND CAN'T REPLICATE THE ERROR.
ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY ETB, DEPHI 6. THE CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN DROPS THE SPEED TO AN IDLE, PRODUCES A WARNING WRENCH ON DASH (P2112 OR 2111 CODE) THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER AND BARLEY MOVES. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 3 TIMES WHILE I WAS DRIVING WITH MY FAMILY IN CAR. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. LUCKILY I WAS NOT TOWING MY TRAILER AT THE TIME. THIS HAPPENED ON A ROAD TRIP AND IT WAS FIX UNDER FORDS COMPREHENSIVE CPO WARRANTY AT ABOUT 44K MILES (11-2016) . NOW THE VEHICLE IS ONLY UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AT 64K MILES AND THE ETB FAILED WHILE I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. UNLIKE THE FIRST INCIDENT I WAS CLOSE TO HOME AND I HAVE PARKED THE TRUCK UNTIL MY APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER (1 WEEK AWAY). WE LIVE IN A MOUNTAIN AREA WITH SINGLE LANE MOUNTAIN ROADS WHERE THERE WOULD NOT BE AN OPPORTUNITY TO PULL OFF ON TO SNOW BANKED ROADS. DEALER HAS NOT SAID IF THEY WOULD COVER THIS AGAIN SINCE THERE IS NO RECALL. FORD HAS ONLY GIVEN SOME OF THEIR VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ETB AND PCM'S INSTALLED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT DO PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE TO GET A TRUE REPAIRED ITEM OR RECALL?
VEHICLE IN MOTION ON FREEWAY AT SPEED (70MPH APPROX.) AND SUDDENLY LOST POWER W/CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (ORANGE WRENCH) COMING ON. VEHICLE HAD NO POWER/ACCELERATION AND SEEMED TO ONLY IDLE. WAS ABLE TO COAST TO RIGHT SHOULDER. SHUT ENGINE OFF AND WAITED FOR A FEW MOMENTS AND TURNED BACK ON, STARTED UP, AND APPEARED TO WORK NORMALLY, ALLOWING US TO CONTINUE ON TO DESTINATION.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR KIDS HOME ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THE CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE. SHE WAS SCARED AND DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. WE BROUGHT IT TO THE FORD STORE AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY.
AT ABOUT 56000 MILES, WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT ABOUT 55 MPH, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE TRUCK WENT INTO, WHAT I NOW KNOW AS, CRAWL HOME MODE. I HAD TO DRIFT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTART THE TRUCK. ABOUT A WEEK LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED. TO IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IS WAS PURCHASED AND WAS TOLD THAT IT IS A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. I WAS TOLD THAT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY AND WOULD BE CLOSE TO $500.00 TO REPAIR. AFTER DOING SOME SEARCHES ONLINE I FOUND THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH THOUSANDS OF LATE MODEL FORDS, SOME OF WHICH FORD AGREED TO REPAIR AND OFFER A LONGER WARRANTY.
VEHICLE LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET. NO WARNING PRIOR TO LOSING POWER. HAD A "WRENCH" LIGHT APPEAR ON DASH. I HAD TO COAST TO SIDE OF THE ROAD. HAD I BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY, MERGING, OR TURNING IN FRONT OF APPROACHING VEHICLES, THERE IS A HIGH PROBABILITY THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. I ATTACHED A TESTER ON THE VEHICLE AND P2112 DEFECT CODE APPEARED INDICATING A STUCK THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL. THIS VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 60,000 MILES AND WAS JUST IN FOR A MAJOR MILESTONE VEHICLE INSPECTION.
FILED COMPLAINT FEW MONTHS BACK, 10985979. SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. STARTED TO HAPPEN AGAIN, THIS TIME IT HAPPENED AROUND 15 TIMES IN A 200 MILE PERIOD. HAPPENED DURING ALL DRIVING CONDITIONS, CITY AND HIGHWAY, FROM A STOP TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS. NO WARRING JUST FULL LOSS OF POWER. SHUT TRUCK OFF, RESTARTED AND RAN NORMALLY FOR 6-10 MILES THEN WOULD SHUT DOWN AGAIN. AFTER THE 3RD TIME A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. DROVE TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALER. THEY ENDED UP CHANGING THE THROTTLE BODY ASSY DUE TO A FAILURE OF A INTERNAL COMPONENT.
