TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD F-250. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED INTO THE PARK POSITION, IT INDEPENDENTLY ROLLED BACKWARDS WITHOUT WARNING. THE PASSENGER WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE VEHICLE INADVERTENTLY SWITCHED INTO THE REVERSE POSITION. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT WAS KNOCKED DOWN AND SUSTAINED INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 245,000. ....UPDATED 07/05/16 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED HE EXITED THE VEHICLE AND WALKED TO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD F250. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN VIBRATING. THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR WHEN DRIVING AT SPEEDS GREATER THAN 40 MPH. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO YEARS. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED OIL WAS LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THE REAR COMB OF THE TRANSMISSION WAS BROKEN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN FOR REPAIRS BUT AN APPOINTMENT WAS MADE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD F250. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE OVERDRIVE LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER FAILED. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 149,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 148,000.
CERTIFIED LTR. FWD TO NHTSA RE PREVIOUS LTR SUBMITTED ON 9/23/04 RE DEFECTIVE CLUTCH/TRANSMISSION FOR A 1999 FORD F250 TRUCK. THE VEHICLE WOULD LURCH FORWARD, THE CLUTCH ENGAGED TOO CLOSE TO THE FLOOR, THERE WAS DIFFICULTY WHEN GOING UPHILL, AND WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. THE CORRECTION WAS DONE INCORRECTLY PER VERDE VALLEY FORD. THE CONSUMER WAS SHOWED A BROKEN TAB THAT WAS INSTALLED INCORRECTLY. THE LINE WAS ALSO FULL OF AIR. *SC THE CONSUMER STATED THAT HE HAS TO MAKE CERTAIN THE VEHICLE DOES NOT LURCH FORWARD BECAUSE THE CLUTCH RELEASES SO CLOSE TO THE FLOOR AS TO NOT REAR END ANOTHER DRIVER. THE CLUTCH CAN NOT BE FEATHERED TO GET IT STARTED AFTER SHUTTING OFF ON AN UPHILL GRADE. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT IT IS DIFFICULT TO SHIFT GEARS CAUSING A PAUSE THAT CAN RESULT IN BEING REAR ENDED. THE CLUTCH WAS REPAIRED AT CONSUMERS EXPENSE. *TC *JB
CONSUMER STATES THAT THE BUSHINGS IN CLUTCH KEPT BREAKING OFF. WHEN THIS HAPPENED THE CLUTCH PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, AND CONSUMER COULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. THE PIECE THAT BROKE OFF WAS MADE OF PLASTIC, AND DID NOT DO THE JOB. THIS HAPPENED 3 TIMES. THE FIRST TIME AT 80,000 MILES. CURRENTLY, IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND THERE WAS NO RECALL ON IT. *AK
PROBLEMS WITH BRAKE EQUIPMENT/ VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED. *MR THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TO THE DEALER FIVE TIMES, AND EACH TIME THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED. AFTER THE SECOND REPAIR, THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED SO THE CONSUMER HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. FINALLY, THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HIS PERSONAL MECHANIC WHO STATED THE PROBLEMS THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED WAS CAUSED BY A FRONT SEAL LEAKAGE ON THE RIGHT AXLE. IN ADDITION, THE MECHANIC STATED WHEN THE GREASE LEAKED ONTO THE ROTOR, IT BECAME HOT AND WARPED THE ROTOR WHICH CAUSED THE VIBRATION. CONSUMER WANTED NEW ROTORS, CALIPERS, AND SEALS ON BOTH FRONT WHEELS AT NO COST TO HIM. HE ALSO WANTED TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE THREE OUT OF POCKET REPAIRS. *PH *JB
CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CLUTCH PEDAL WENT ABOUT 1/2 WAY BEFORE ENGAGING. DIFFICULT TO ENGAGE CLUTCH AND SHIFT TRANSMISSION. I WAS TOWING A TRAILER AT THE TIME OF FAILURE. WHEN I CONTACTED THE FORD DEALER TO SCHEDULE REPAIR HE SAID NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE VERY FAR BECAUSE COMPLETE FAILURE WOULD PROBABLY OCCUR. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT FORD IS VERY AWARE OF THIS DEFECT AND HAS REDESIGNED THIS PART DUE TO MANY FAILURES. EVEN THOUGH AN ACCIDENT DID NOT OCCUR, I THINK A SAFETY RECALL IS NEEDED SINCE THESE VEHICLES ARE DESIGNED TO HAUL OR CARRY HEAVY LOADS AND THIS TYPE OF FAILURE COULD MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO ENGAGE THE CLUTCH WHEN TRYING TO STOP THE VEHICLE, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT. THE COST FOR REPAIR WAS $305.26
CONSUMER WOULD PUSH CLUTCH IN, AND THEN HE COULD NOT PUT VEHICLE IN GEAR. AFTER TAKING VEHICLE TO MECHANIC , HE FOUND OUT THAT TRANSMISSION BEARING WAS GONE/ ALL BURNED. *AK
WHILE REPLACING FRONT ROTORS, CONSUMER NOTICED THAT FRONT AXLE WAS INCORRECT FOR THIS VEHICLE AS LISTED IN PARTS OF CATALOG. FORD HAS BEEN NOTIFIED.*AK *JB
WHILE AT A STOP TRANSMISSION MADE A LOUD NOISE. VEHICLE MADE IT ACROSS THE INTERSECTION, THEN ,VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. DEALER NOT CONTACTED YET.*AK
AXEL ASSEMBLY APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN DEVOID OF LUBRICANT SINCE MANUFACTURING. *AK
CAM POSTION SENSOR TURNED VEHICLE OFF WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH CONSUMER WAS NOT ABLE TO SHIFT GEARS. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALER. DEALER DETERMINED THAT CLUTCH FORK HAD BROKEN.*AK
CONSUMER STATES THAT HE IS HAVING TROUBLE WITH A PART THAT ATTACHES TO THE CLUTCH RELEASE PEDAL, WHEN IT COMES OFF IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO RELEASE THE CLUTCH OR TO SHIFT GEARS, THE PART IS MADE OF A PLASTIC TYPE MATERIAL WITH TEETH TO KEEP IT IN PLACE, HOWEVER CONSUMER HAS REPLACED THIS PART SEVERAL TIMES. *SLC
WHEN DRIVING AND UPON DEPRESSING BRAKE PEDAL TO MAKE A GRADUAL STOP, TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY LOCKED UP. TRANSMISSION HUNG UP IN GEAR AND FAILED TO DISENGAGE FROM ANY GEAR. CONSUMER HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO A DEALER. *AK *SLC
WHILE I WAS EXITING MY TRUCK, WITH MOTOR OFF AND TRANSMISSION IN PARK, THE PIN THAT HOLDS IT IN PARK FAILED AND ALLOWED THE TRUCK TO ROLL BACKWARDS. THIS SCOPED ME UP IN THE DOOR AND DRAGGED ME OVER THE HILLSIDE NEXT TO THE ROAD. I HAD TO ESCAPE FROM THE DOOR BEFORE IT RAN INTO TREES, AND IN THAT PROCESS DISLOCATED MY LEFT ELBOW AND TWO RIBS ALONG WITH NUMEROUS BRUISES. THE TRUCK IS AT A REPAIR SHOP TO REVIEW WHAT HAPPENED TO ITS PARK GEAR.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH TRANSFER CASE DROPPED OUT, BROKE THE CASING. DEALER REPLACED PART.*AK
THERE WAS VIBRATION IN VEHICLE WHEN TRAVELING BETWEEN 35 AND 50 MPH. DEALERSHIP EXAMINED VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT ENTIRE DRIVELINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE COMPONENT WAS WARPED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 20 MPH VEHICLE STALLED, THEN NOTICED A TRAIL OF TRANSMISSION FLUID BEHIND VEHICLE, ADDED TRANSMISSION FLUID TO VEHICLE, AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. COULD NOT FIND WHERE FLUID WAS LEAKING FROM, VEHICLE AT DEALER AT THIS TIME.*AK CONSUMER STATED TRAMSMISSION HAD TO BE REBUILT, MECHANIC FOUND PIECES FLOATING INSIDE, ALSO FILTER WAS FLOTING AROUND.*SLC
WHEN TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY AT NORMAL SPEED VEHICLE WILL NOT DOWN SHIFT, AND VEHICLE MAKES NOISES. DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK
GEM MODULE REPLACED 6 TIMES, FIRST DAY CONSUMER TOOK DELIVERY OF VEHICLE. 4 WHEEL DRIVE FUNCTION CAME ON ON IT'S OWN, WOULD NOT DISENGAGE UNTIL VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. WILL NOT COME ON WHEN CONSUMER NEEDS IT TO COME ON.*AK
TRANSMISSION SEAL FAILED, AND TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKED OUT. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.*AK
FRONT DIFFERENTIAL BROKE WHILE DRIVING WHICH CAUSED VEHICLE TO STALL ABRUPTLY. IF OCCUPANT WAS NOT RESTRAINT HE MAY HAVE FLOWN OUT OF WINDOW. MANUFACTURER SAID IT WAS NOT A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT, AND WON'T ASSIST CONSUMER. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
WHILE TRYING TO CHANGE GEARS TRANSMISSION WILL NOT DISENGAGE INTO ANOTHER GEAR. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
UPON STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT AND THEN PULLING OUT TRANSMISSION SOUNDED LIKE GRAVEL WAS IN IT. THE SOUND WENT AWAY. LATER WHEN THE REVERSE GEAR WAS NEEDED, GEAR DID NOT WORK. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
