I HAD LT265/75R16 BF GOODRICH TIRES ON MY TRUCK, WITH ONLY APPROX. 12,000 MILES ON THEM, THE TRUCK DOES NOT GET DRIVEN BUT ONCE A WEEK. TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE EXPLODED. I WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE TRUCK AND GET IT OFF THE ROAD WITHOUT HITTING ANYONE. BUT MY TRUCK SUSTAINED $3800.00 IN DAMAGE. I FILED CLAIM WITH MICHELIN AND SENT THEM THE TIRE, THEY DENIED THE CLAIM THAT I MUST HAVE HIT SOMETHING VERY HARD AND THAT CAUSED THE TIRE TO SPLIT ON THE INSIDE LINING WHICH THEN CAUSED THE BLOW OUT. I HAVE NEVER HIT ANYTHING AND I TRAVEL THE SAME TWO ROADS ALL THE TIME WITH BOTH MY VEHICLES SO I KNOW I DID NOT HIT ANYTHING. SECONDLY THESE ARE "ROUGH TERRAIN" TIRES SO EVEN IF I DID HIT SOMETHING THEY SHOULD HAVE NOT SPLIT. MICHELIN IS VERY LUCKY THAT I HAD CONTROL OF THE TRUCK, THERE WERE CARS ON BOTH SIDES OF ME THAT WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN A LAWSUIT AGAINST THEM IF I HAD HIT THEM. I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE THE TRUCK WITH THE OTHER 3 EXISTING TIRES SO I HAD ALL FOUR REPLACED AT TIRES PLUS. MA 10/5

ON 10/11/14 WE WERE TRAVELING FROM OUR HOME IN HAVELOCK, NC TO THE CHARLOTTE AREA. WITH ABOUT 20 MINUTES INTO THE TRIP WE FELT A VIOLENT VIBRATION AND THEN THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE BLEW! MIRACULOUSLY, MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO PULL HIS FORD F-250 PICKUP TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS HURT! THE TIRE WAS FLAT WITH MUCH OF THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE. ALSO, SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE WAS CAUSED TO THE WHEEL WELL OF THE TRUCK BECAUSE OF THE BLOWOUT. AFTER HAVING ALLSTATE MOTOR CLUB COME AND ASSIST US, AND REPLACE THE BLOWOUT, WE WERE ON OUR ROAD AGAIN. THREE DAYS LATER ON OCTOBER 14TH WE WERE HEADED BACK TO HAVELOCK WHEN ONCE AGAIN THE TRUCK BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. MY HUSBAND MADE IT TO MY BROTHER-IN-LAWS DRIVEWAY, GOT OUT AND NOTICED THE FRONT PASSENGERS TIRE HAD A MAJOR BUBBLE IN IT. WE ALMOST HAD A SECOND TIRE BLOWOUT! NOW WE WERE THINKING THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH THESE TIRES SINCE TWO OF THEM FAILED WITHIN 3 DAYS. THE TIRES ON OUR TRUCK ARE BF GOODRICH MUD TERRAIN T/A KM2 LT285/75R16 DOT # BFYUCF213810. THESE TIRES ON OUR PICKUP HAVE PLENTY OF TREAD LEFT ON THEM AND SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED! I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH MICHELIN (THE PARENT COMPANY OF BF GOODRICH). THEY TOLD ME TO GO TO MY LOCAL FAMILY TIRE TO HAVE THEM INSPECT OUR TIRES AND THEN HAVE THEM CONTACT MICHELIN ON THEIR FINDINGS. THEY ALSO SAID I WOULD NEED THE BLOWN OUT TIRE, WHICH I NO LONGER HAVE, TO RECEIVE ANY COMPENSATION FOR THAT. I BELIEVE I AM IN FOR A "RUN AROUND" FROM MICHELIN BEFORE I RECEIVE (IF I DO RECEIVE) ANY KIND OF COMPENSATION. I'VE SEEN ONLINE TOO WHERE SEVERAL SIMILAR TIRES FROM BF GOODRICH HAVE BEEN RECALLED DUE TO TREAD SEPARATION. I DO BELIEVE THE TIRES MENTIONED ABOVE ARE UNSAFE AND COULD CAUSE LOSS OF LIFE! I ALSO BELIEVE MICHELIN IS PUTTING THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR BEFORE HUMAN SAFETY! I PREVIOUSLY FILED THIS COMPLAINT UNDER FORD MANUFACTURER BY MISTAKE. THIS IS A TIRE ISSUE. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE FRONT PASSENGER TO RECEIVE INJURIES TO HIS LOWER BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED A REPAIR SHOP. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD F-250 EQUIPPED WITH COOPER DISCOVERER ATR (LT265/75/R16 DOT3DW8) TIRES. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH THE CONTACT NOTICED THE STEERING WHEEL WAS FEELING AWKWARD. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND NOTICED THE TREAD SEPARATION ON THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A TIRE SHOP WHERE THE TECHNICIANS STATED THE TIRE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO TREAD SEPARATION. THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE TREAD ON THE REAR DRIVER AND PASSENGERS SIDE TIRES ALSO SEPARATED CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE WHEEL WELL AND FENDER. THE REAR TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. UPDATED 8/29/11 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE OTHER THREE TIRES WERE INSPECTED AND FOUND TO BE OK. ABOUT THREE MONTHS LATER, THE DRIVER REAR TIRE SEPARATED CAUSING $3,000 DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK. THE CONSUMER IS USING THE SPARE TIRE AND WAITING FOR A DECISION FROM COOPER TIRES. UPDATED 09/21/11

THIS IS THE SECOND GOODYEAR WRANGLER (KEVLAR) TIRE THAT HAS BLOWN OUT COMPLETELY WITH IN A YEAR. THE FIRST TIME A MESQUITE THORN CAUSED THE ENTIRE SIDE TO BLOW OUT; LAST WEEK IT WAS A LITTLE ROCK THAT CAUSED SEPARATION AND BLOW OUT AGAIN. FOR AS MUCH AS THESE TIRES COST THEY ARE A DANGER WHEN A LITTLE THING LIKE A THORN OR ROCK CAUSES A COMPLETE SEPARATION. DISCOUNT TIRE EVEN SAID THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH A SEPARATION. *JB

I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW UNIROYAL LAREDO TIRE NEAR AUSTIN, TEXAS AT AN NTB STORE. THE NTB STORE PUT THE TIRE ON THE RIGHT FRONT OF MY 2003 FORD F-250. WITHIN 10 MINUTES OF LEAVING THE NTB STORE, THE TIRE CATASTROPHICALLY FAILED AND I WAS BARELY ABLE TO BRING MY TRUCK (PULLING A LARGE GOOSENECK TRAILER) UNDER CONTROL ON I-35. THE FAILURE COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS NOT ONLY FOR ME, BUT FOR MANY OF THE OTHER PEOPLE DRIVING ON I-35, AS VEHICLES HAD TO QUICKLY MOVE OUT OF MY WAY AS MY TRUCK WAS DRAGGED ACROSS AT LEAST ONE LANE OF TRAVEL, THE SHOULDER AND INTO THE GRASS ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. AFTERWARDS, THE ENTIRE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE WAS FOUND TO HAVE BEEN RIPPED OFF THE TIRE AND MY WHEEL WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED. CLEARLY, THIS TIRE WAS DEFECTIVE IN ITS MANUFACTURER. *JB

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH THE TREAD COMPLETELY DETACHED FROM THE TWO TIRES ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. ANOTHER TIRE HAD A VIOLENT TREAD SEPARATION AT 55 MPH. WHICH CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AND INCURRED DAMAGES TO THE WHEEL ALIGNMENTS, FENDER, BUMPER, SUSPENSION AND OTHER PARTS UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP, WHO REPLACED ALL COOPER/DOMINATOR TIRES AND REPAIR THE DAMAGES CREATED AS A RESULT OF THE FAILURE TIRES.

IN JUNE 2003, I PURCHASED A NEW 2003 FORD F250. IT HAD FIRESTONE STEELTEX R4S LT 265/75 R16 TIRES ON IT. ON MARCH 16, 2004, THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE WENT COMPLETELY FLAT AS I WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND FOUND THAT THE TIRE HAD A RIP ACROSS THE SIDE WALL APPROXIMATELY 5 INCHES LONG. THE TIRES (AND TRUCK) HAVE LESS THAN 12,000 MILES ON THEM. I CALLED FORD, AND THEY REFERRED ME TO A LOCAL FIRESTONE DEALER. AT THE FIRESTONE DEALER, ONE OF THE MECHANICS LOOKED AT THE TIRE AND SAID THERE WAS NO APPARENT REASON FOR THE TIRE TO SPLIT, BUT A MANAGER WOULD HAVE TO LOOK AT IT BEFORE IT COULD BE REPLACED. THE MANAGER LOOKED AT IT AND SAID I MUST HAVE HIT A LARGE ROCK OR SOMETHING. I EXPLAINED THAT I WAS SITTING AT A SIGNAL LIGHT WHEN IT HAPPENED AND THAT THE TRUCK HAD NEVER BEEN OFF THE PAVEMENT. HE SAID MAYBE SOMEBODY CAME BY AND CUT IT OR STUCK AN ICE PICK IN IT (AS IF I WOULDN'T HAVE NOTICED THAT IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR). THEN HE TOLD ME IT WAS FORD'S FAULT BECAUSE THEY WERE USING THE WRONG KIND OF TIRE FOR SUCH A BIG VEHICLE, BUT HE WOULD SELL ME A NEW ONE AT A DISCOUNT. THE FIRESTONE WEBSITE HAS SPECS FOR THIS TIRE, AND SPECIFICALLY STATES THEY ARE FOR FORD F250/F350. I REFUSED HIS OFFER, AND CALLED FORD AGAIN. THIS TIME THEY REFERRED ME TO FIRESTONE CUSTOMER CARE. I CALLED AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THESE TIRES, BUT THAT THEY WOULD NOTE MY COMPLAINT IN THEIR SYSTEM. THEY ALSO TOLD ME SEVERAL TIMES TO MAKE SURE I SAFELY BUCKLE MY CHILDREN WHEN THEY ARE IN THE VEHICLE. I'VE FOUND A NUMBER OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THESE TIRES ON THE INTERNET. AT THIS POINT, FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY, I'M HAVING ALL FOUR TIRES REPLACED WITH SOMETHING OTHER THAN FIRESTONE/BRIDGESTONE TIRES. I'M KEEPING THE TIRE THAT BLEW OUT AND THE RECEIPT FROM THE NEW TIRES TO SUBMIT TO FIRESTONE IN THE FUTURE IF A RECALL IS PUT IN PLACE.*AK
