WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, THE TRUCK SHUT OFF AND WOULDN'T COME BACK ON. HAD TO DRIFT INTO A PARKING LOT TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME. AFTER MONTHS AND SEVERAL MECHANICS LATER, CHANGING OUT DIFFERENT FUEL PARTS, ENGINE COMPONENTS, BATTERIES, ETC. WE FOUND OUT IT WAS THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL INJECTION PUMP. THE PUMP "EXPLODED" FOR LACK OF BETTER WORD, INSIDE AND SENT METAL SHAVINGS THROUGHOUT THE FUEL RAIL AND ENGINE ITSELF. WE SPENT 12,000 TO PUT A USED MOTOR AND ALL NEW FUEL COMPONENTS. IT TOOK US A YEAR TO SAVE UP BECAUSE WE HAD TO MAKE A PAYMENT ON A VEHICLE THAT COULDN'T BE USED.

WE OWN A 2009 FORD F250 SUPER DUTY 4X4, WITH LOW MILES (21478). THIS VEHICLE HAS RUN GREAT SINCE WE PURCHASED IT NEW. AS WE WERE DRIVING, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO RUN POORLY AND LOOSE POWER. THE ENGINE LIGHT THEN CAME ON. THE MECHANIC SCANNER THE ENGINE CODES P0012-P0018-P0022-P0341-P052D, INDICATING FAULTY CAM PHASERS AND TENSIONERS, AND THAT THE ENGINE WAS OUT OF TIME. THIS PICKUP HAS LOW MILEAGE AND ALL THE RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE HAS ALWAYS BEEN DONE. THE FORD PARTS DEPARTMENT STATED THAT THEY KEEP THESE PARTS STOCKED BECAUSE IT IS A COMMON REPAIR ISSUE. *TR

LEAKING RADIATOR HOSES CAUSING LOSS OF COOLANT FROM ENGINE. LEAK IS A HAZARD TO ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE THAT MAY COME IN CONTACT WITH ETHYLENE GLYCOL. ENGINE FIRE IN MY 2009 F250. I WAS DRIVING ALONG AND STARTED TO SEE SMOKE AND WENT TO STOP AND PULL OVER. WHEN I WENT TO APPLY THE BRAKES THEY WERE HARD TO PUSH AND BARELY STOPPED THE VEHICLE. THE BACK TIRE LOCKED UP AND SKIDDED ON THE GRASS, BUT THE FRONT TIRE DID NOTHING EVIDENT. THERE WERE BURNING FLAMES DROPPING DOWN FROM THE FIREWALL ON THE GROUND AS WE EXITED THE VEHICLE. MY INSURANCE COMPANY IS INVESTIGATING A CAUSE, BUT THE FIRE CHIEF COULD NOT DETERMINE ANYTHING. THE ONLY FAILURE I HAD IN THE TRUCK WAS THE BRAKES AND SMOKE. MY WIFE AND I HAD 4 KIDS IN THE TRUCK WITH US AND GOT OUT JUST ON TIME. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD F250 SD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE NOISE WAS A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC OF THE MOTOR BUT THEY DECIDED TO REPLACE THE CAM SHAFT AND VCT SOLENOIDS AS A TEMPORARY FIX. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 16,460. UPDATED 1/12/11 *CN UPDATED 2/1/12 *CN

DURING WET WEATHER CONDITIONS (HUMIDITY AND RAIN ESPECIALLY) AND AFTER APPROXIMATELY 30-40 MINUTES OF STEADY STATE DRIVING ON AT FREEWAY SPEEDS; THE TRUCK WILL HESITATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS PRESSED TO THE FLOOR. THE ENGINE RPM WILL INCREASE WITH THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFT, THEN THE ENGINE RPM WILL IMMEDIATELY FALL BACK DOWN BY ABOUT 500 RPM FOR APPROXIMATELY 5-7 SECONDS BEFORE RETURNING TO A FULL THOTTLE ENGINE SPEED. DURING THIS TIME OF RPM FLUCTUATION IT FEELS/SOUNDS LIKE A STUMBLE AND/OR MISS IN THE ENGINE. THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE AND WHEN WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE AS DESCRIBED ABOVE CAN BE DUPLICATED EASILY. THIS ISSUE IS OF REAL CONCERN WHEN MERGING INTO TRAFFIC OR ATTEMPTING TO PASS ANOTHER CAR. THE TRUCK FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO ACCELERATE INTO TRAFFIC, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MOMENTARILY LOOSES POWER LEAVING THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS OF THE TRUCK VULNERABLE TO A COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. SO FAR MY TRUCK HAS BEEN TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIME FOR MULTIPLE DAYS. THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO CURE THE PROBLEM. THEY HAVE HOOKUP UP VEHICLE DATA RECORDERS MULTIPLE TIME WITHOUT SUCCESS. THEY DID FIND INCONSISTENCIES IN THE MAP SENSOR READINGS WHICH WAS SUBSEQUENTLY REPLACED, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. *LN

THE CONTACT NOTICED WHITE AND BLUE SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE EXHAUST PIPE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SPONTANEOUSLY WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON 16 TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE TECHNICIANS WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 5,000.
