2006F-350 super duty 5.4engine,,had to be replaced two and a half years ago the Ford dealer at cirroca of York,,told me that the new motor was improved that the new motors valve train was improved,,why wasn't it a recall,, if it would affect emissions and overall performance and reliability
ENGINE DIES WHILE DRIVING. DOES NOT DO IT ALL THE TIME. MAINLY WHEN ACCELERATING AND IF LET OFF GAS AND APPLY BRAKES.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THERE WAS A DAMAGED HEAD GASKET THAT NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F-350. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE EXHAUST PIPE SMOKED AND/OR STEAMED AND THE ENGINE OVERHEATED. THE CHECK TEMPERATURE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT FILLED THE ENGINE WITH WATER AND DROVE HOME. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE EGR COOLER LEAKED; THEREFORE, THE EGR COOLER AND THE OIL COOLER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED.

THE DEALER RECOMMENDED HAVING THE OIL PUMP, INJECTORS AND FUEL INJECTION MODULE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. AFTER SOME TIME WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 117,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED AND WHILE ACCELERATING, BLUE SMOKE WAS SEEN COMING FROM THE VEHICLE AND THE TACHOMETER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD NOT RESPONDED. THERE WAS A LOUD ROAR FROM THE ENGINE THAT WOULD BECOME PROGRESSIVELY LOUDER AS THE ACCELERATOR WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE DID NOT EXHIBIT ENOUGH POWER TO ACCELERATE UPHILL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE HEAD GASKETS, TURBO AND TWO FUEL INJECTORS WOULD NEED REPLACING. IN ADDITION, THE EGR WOULD NEED TO BE BYPASSED WITH A KIT IN ORDER TO CORRECT THE ENGINE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE BUT OFFERED LITTLE ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 227,000. UPDATED 7/16/12 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE EGR VALVE, WHICH CLOGGED THE EXHAUST AND TURBO FILTERS, WHICH CAUSE CARBON BUILD-UP. UPDATED 07/24/12
THE ABOVE MENTIONED TRUCK WHICH HAS 11,750 MILES ON IT. SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED AT THE END OF 2005, THE TURBOCHARGER HAS BEEN REPLACED FIVE TIMES OR AT APPROXIMATELY 2000 MILE INTERVALS. THE VEHICLE IS WELL MAINTAINED WITH OIL AND FILTER CHANGES MORE FREQUENT THAN FORD RECOMMENDS. DUE TO A PREVIOUS COMPLAINT REGARDING FAULTY TURBOS, FORD EXTENDED MY WARRANTY UNTIL 2011 THROUGH AN OASIS SERVICE CONTRACT. FORD ACKNOWLEDGED PROBLEMS WITH FAULTY TURBOS THROUGH THE ISSUANCE OF SIX OR MORE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS. A FAULTY TURBO CAUSES THE TRUCK TO RUN POORLY AND FAIL CONNECTICUT EMISSIONS TESTS AND RISKS FURTHER ENGINE DAMAGE. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE. I HAD SENT THEM REPAIR RECORDS, PHOTOS AND DOCUMENTATION. THEY NEVER RESPONDED IN WRITING, BUT PHONED AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING FURTHER THAT THEY WOULD DO. IT IS APPARENT THAT THERE IS AN ENGINEERING OR DESIGN FLAW ASSOCIATED WITH THE TURBOS. FORD HAS REPLACED EACH TURBO WITH THE SAME TYPE AND HAS FAILED TO CORRECT THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE FAILURES. I'M NOT REQUESTING REPLACEMENT OF THE VEHICLE, NOR MONETARY COMPENSATION ALTHOUGH THIS PROBLEM HAS CAUSED CONSIDERABLE INCONVENIENCE AND LOSS OF TIME. I AM REQUESTING, THAT IF FORD CANNOT REPAIR THIS PROBLEM, ONCE-AND-FOR-ALL, THAT THEY EXTEND THE WARRANTY FOR THE LIFE OR THE TRUCK OR AT LEAST FOR AS LONG AS I OWN THE TRUCK. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TURBO CHARGER WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE ERG VALVE HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING REPAIRS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 90,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE ENGINE EXHAUST EGR VALVE. THE MANUFACTURER DENIED ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR. THE EGR VALVE WAS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION SYSTEM HAD TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE HEAD GASKET HAD BLOWN AND THE GASKET, EGR, AND OIL COOLANT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,338.
MY 2006 FORD CREW CAB POWERSTROKE TURBO DIESEL HAS AN ENGINE OIL COOLER AND EGR/EGR COOLER PROBLEMS THAT KEEPS THE TRUCK FROM FULL POWER UP HILLS AND WITH LOADS. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS PULLING TRAILER UP GRADE'S, IT LOSES POWER, BLOWS WHITE SMOKE AND BECOMES UNSTABLE. THE TEMP. BETWEEN THE OIL COOLER AND THE EGR COOLER SHUTS DOWN THE TRUCKS COMPUTER, LEAVING THE TRUCK INOPERABLE. COSTS TO REPAIR $6793. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD SUPERDUTY. THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD LEAKED INTO THE ENGINE MADE A NOISE GIVES AN ODOR THAT MADE THE CONTACT NAUSEOUS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER DIAGNOSIS STATED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND STUD WERE INSTALLED INCORRECTLY WHICH CAUSED THE GASKET TO FAIL. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE WARRANTY WAS NO LONGER VALID; THEREFORE THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
THIS A F350 KING RANCH DIESEL. THE VEHICLE SUFFERED A SEVERE LOSS OF POWER AND WAS LIMPED IN (10 MPH) TO ROKSTAD FORD IN SANDPOINT, ID. THEY DIAGNOSED LOW FUEL INJECTOR PRESSURE AND REPLACED THE FUEL CONTROL MODULE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN HOME AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. LOW INJECTION PRESSURE WAS DIAGNOSED AND AN OIL PRESSURE LINE WAS REPLACED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON THE NEXT DAY AS WELL AS INTERMITTENT LOSS OF POWER EXPERIENCED AND LOW INJECTOR PRESSURE WAS STILL THE PROBLEM. A SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON THE SAME DAY. THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. *TR
MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. THE HEAD GASKETS KEPT BLOWING UP AND LOSS OF POWER ESPECIALLY UP THE HILL THE COMPANY DOES NOT MAKE THAT ENGINE ANYMORE. ANYONE WITH THAT ENGINE IS OUT OF LUCK AS SOON AS THE RUN OUT OF WARRANTY

THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE RESTARTED AND WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR SEVEN DAYS AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO LOW OIL PRESSURE. THEY FURTHER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS VERY COMMON AND THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED TEN MONTHS LATER AT 36,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE SHOP SINCE OCTOBER OF 2007 AND THE CAUSE OF FAILURE HAS YET TO BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE HAS LOST POWER AT LEAST THREE TIMES SINCE THE INITIAL REPAIR. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP AND HAS BEEN FOR THE PAST 60 DAYS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,200 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 41,000.
