I have had multiple incidents of my truck shutting off completely while driving. The latest incident resulted in a "catastrophic engine failure". In the latest incident occurring in April 2025, I was driving on [XXX] . [XXX] is a two-lane highway with no divider, navigating through mountainous terrain. I was driving up a hilly area when my truck shut off, and I lost all power steering. There is no shoulder on this part of the freeway, with an approximate 40-foot embankment. I was able to navigate the vehicle to the side of the road and position it just before the beginning of a guard rail beginning allowing me some grace. Due to no shoulder space, I was effectively parked on the white containment line of the road. I had my [XXX] daughter and wife in the car. I had to wait for a break in traffic to be able to open the driver's door due to the proximity to the active highway. I was safely get the truck towed to the nearest FORD dealership, where it was determined the engine was in "catastrophic failure" due to oil engine overfill. I informed FORD that my last oil change was with the FORD dealership and within the recommended time frame. I was informed by a technician that there is an ongoing issue with this engine make (6.4-liter, diesel). The technician stated that FORD is aware of the issue. The technician stated that fuel gets mixed with the oil and causes an "engine oil overfill". None of these issues stems from negligence but rather an unakknowledged issue by FORD. There was a check engine light that appeared at the time of failure. The check engine light had come on, at which point I contacted a mechanic to schedule an appointment. When I arrived for my appointment, the check engine light had disappeared, and I was told that no codes would alert if the actual check engine light was not on during the inspection. WE WERE HAULING A LOAD OF LOGS ABOUT AN HOUR AWAY EVERYTHING WAS FINE WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE TRUCK DOWN SHIFTED AND WHITE SMOKE STARTED POURING OUT FROM UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE HOOD FOLLOWED BY FLAMES. WE HAD TO TRY TO GET OFF THE ROAD WHERE WE WERE THERE WAS NO WHERE TO PULL OFF AND FINALLY COULD SWING INTO A STATE GAMESLAND AND SOMEONE CALLED THE FIRE DEPT. I AM NOW OUT OF A TRUCK I JUST PURCHASED 2 MONTHS AGO AND MY VIN NUMBER ISN'T EVEN SHOWING UP
HAD THE TRUCK OVER HEAT MULTIPLE TIMES. HAD TO CHANGE THE COOLANT AND ALSO THE RADIATOR ON LONG WITH THE OIL COOLANT CONTAINER. HAS A TICKING SOUND AND HAS NOT YET GONE AWAY. HAVE TAKEN IT TO FORD DEALER AND THEY CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT. WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT TO DO SINCE I HAVE SPENT A LOT OF MONEY AND THE PROBLEM HASN'T BEEN FIXED AND THE ONLY THING THE FORD DEALER TELLS ME IS TO TRADE IT IN FOR A NEW ONE. HELP1
FORD SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE 6.4 DIESEL AS MUCH AS THESE TRUCKS COST HARD WORKING AMERICANS, PAY CLOSE TO 30 THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR A PICKUP TRUCK THEN HAVE TO PAY ANOTHER 15 THOUSAND TO FIX THE MOTOR DUE TO IT NOT BEING BUILT CORRECTLY, JUNK RODS, HEAD BOLTS, HEADS, TURBOS, OIL LEVEL BEING RAISED BY 2 TO 3 GALLONS PER OIL CHANGE, DUE TO FUEL BEING PUMPED BACK INTO THE ENGINE, CAUSING SEVERE INTERNAL ENGINE PROBLEMS, IT'S NOT IF IT WILL BLOW BUT WHEN IT WILL, AS PER FORD MASTER MECHANIC. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION, TO KNOW AT ANY GIVING MINUTE WHILE DRIVING YOU'RE MOTOR COULD BLOW CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.
ENGINE DID NOT KICK OUT OF REGIN CAUSEING OVER HEAT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD DETACHED FROM THE HEAD OF THE ENGINE AND CAUSED EXHAUST FUMES TO ENTER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO CONFIRMED THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALER. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 53,000. ...UPDATED 10/19/17 *BF CONSUMER STATED MY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC CONFIRMED THE DRIVERS SINE EXHAUST MANIFORD HAD SEPARATED FROM THE HEAD BECAUSE ALL OF THE STUDS & KNOTS WERE RUSTED OFF. UPON RETURNING FROM A SHORT DRIVE I NOTICED OIL ON THE GROUND...HAD TRUCK TOWED TO LOCAL FORD DEALER ...WHEN INSPECTED I WAS INFORMED THE SELF CLEANING EXHAUST SYSTEM CAUSED THE RINGS TO WEAR PREMATURELY AND BUILD PRESSURE IN THE CRANKCASE CAUSING OIL TO SPEW OUT ANY OPENING IE THE DIPSTICK TUBE. A DIESEL ENGINE SHOULD HAVE BEEN EXPECTED TO LAST 2-3 TIMES THE 165,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK.
I HAVE A 2008 FORD F350 SUPER DUTY ,, AND THERE ARE MANY KNOWN PROBLEMS ON THIS TRUCK THAT FORD IS AWARE OF AND YET THE REFUSE TO FIX THEM .. THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE TRUCK AND I AM VERY DISAPOINTED IN THIS TRUCK .. A WEEK AFTER I GOT THE TRUCK THE RAIDIATOR STARTED LEAKING .. I HAVE SUBMITTED MY REQUEST FOR A RECALL TO BE ISSUED ON ALL 2008 FORD F350SD FOR THE EXHAUST TEMPERATURE SENSOR FAILURE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SHUTDOWN. LOOKS AS THOUGH A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR 2012 FORD 6.7L AMBULANCE PACKAGES: F-350 ENGINE RECALL NUMBER: 13V535000 RECALL DATE: 10/30/2013 PROBLEM SUMMARY: FORD MOTOR COMPANY (FORD) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011-2012 F-350/450/550 AMBULANCE PACKAGE VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FEBRUARY 22, 2010, THROUGH OCTOBER 19, 2012 AND EQUIPPED WITH A 6.7L DIESEL ENGINE. DUE TO AN EXHAUST SENSOR PROBLEM, THE VEHICLES MAY EXPERIENCE LOSS OF POWER FOLLOWED BY AN ENGINE STALL. CONSEQUENCE: AN UNEXPECTED ENGINE STALL INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH. ADDITIONALLY, IF THIS WERE TO OCCUR WHEN THE AMBULANCE IS TRANSPORTING A PATIENT, THERE IS AN INCREASED RISK OF INJURY TO THE PATIENT. EXHAUST TEMPERATURE SENSOR WILL CAUSE A CRASH THAT MAY END UP KILLING SOMEONE. THIS IS WHAT FAILED ON MY WIFE WHO WAS PULLING A 28' HORSE TRAILER WITH HER SHOW HORSE INSIDE WORTH OVER $30,000 DOLLARS. SHE MERGED TO A ONE LANE ROAD ON INTERSTATE 68 IN MARYLAND HEADING DOWN HILL WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ONE SOON TO FOLLOW WITH A MESSAGE OF PULL OVER SAFELY. 20 SECONDS LATER, THE ENGINE SHUTOFF. THIS CAUSED HER TO LOSE POWER STEERING ON A ONE LANE ROAD GOING OVER A BRIDGE DOWN HILL PULLING A HORSE TRAILER WITH A GROSS WEIGHT OF OVER 10,000 POUNDS. SHE HAD NO WHERE TO PULL OVER SAFELY WHEN THE TRUCK SHUTDOWN ON HER. SHE HAD TO GET OUT OF THE TRUCK IN ORDER TO MOVE THE BARRELS BLOCKING THE RIGHT LANE IN ORDER TO TRY AND GET THE TRUCK AND TRAILER OUT OF THE OPEN LANE. SHE HAD TO BLOCK AN EXIT IN ORDER TO MAKE ROOM FOR THE OTHER VEHICLES. THE TRUCK WENT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN CUMBERLAND, MD WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT IT WAS THE EXHAUST TEMPERATURE SENSOR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE ON THIS VEHICLE. AT NO TIME SHOULD A VEHICLE SHUTDOWN ON SOMEONE DRIVING IT. BELIEVE IT A VEHICLE GOING INTO A LIMP MODE BUT AT LEAST YOU CAN STILL DRIVE IT SO YOU CAN GET TO A SAFE PLACE. THERE NEEDS TO BE AN INVESTIGATION INTO WHY THIS OCCURS AND ENFORCE FORD TO ISSUE A RECALL TO FIX THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED. *TR
TWO 2008 FORD F-350. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO A DESIGN FLAW IN BOTH VEHICLES CURRENT RADIATORS. *SMD FORD'S RECOMMENDATION WAS TO REPEATEDLY REPLACE THE PART AT A COST OF $ 1300. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANIFOLD SCREWS BECAME FRACTURED AND DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE MANIFOLD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

ON SEPTEMBER 30, 2014, MY WIFE WAS ON HER WAY TO COLUMBUS, OHIO IN HER 2008 FORD F350 SUPER DUTY TURBO DIESEL TRUCK WITH 44,000 MILES. SHE'S PULLING HER 2014 26 LAKOTA TWO HORSE TRAILER WITH LIVING QUARTERS WITH HER SHOW HORSE ($30,000) IN THE BACK. THE UNEXPECTED HAPPEN WHILE SHE WAS ON MD-51N NEAR CUMBERLAND, MARYLAND HEADING ACROSS A BRIDGE WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC AT 1230PM. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOLLOWED BY A PULL OVER SAFELY' MESSAGE. TWENTY SECONDS (20 SECONDS) LATER, THE TRUCK COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. WIFE WAS TRAVELING AT 70 MILES AN HOUR WHEN THE TRUCK SHUT DOWN, WHICH TURNED THE POWER STEERING OFF. THIS IS WHAT I CALL UNSAFE FOR ANYONE, ESPECIALLY WHEN PULLING A 26 HORSE TRAILER WITH AN EXTRA 1000LBS IN THE BACK WITH A HORSE. SHE WAS NOT ABLE TO GET COMPLETELY OFF THE ROAD BECAUSE IS SHUTDOWN ON THE BRIDGE BLOCKING THE RIGHT LANE WHICH ALMOST CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT DUE TO THE VEHICLE SHUTTING DOWN ON HER. WHILE WAITING ON THE BRIDGE, HER TRAINER HAD TO TURN AROUND HIS EIGHTEEN WHEELER SO MY WIFE COULD UNLOAD HER HORSE AND LOAD IT IN HIS TRAILER. THIS COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN THE TRAFFIC ON MD-51N WHICH IS NOT SAFE UNLOADING AND LOADING A HORSE.AFTER SITTING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WAITING FOR AAA TO COME TOW THE VEHICLE FOR OVER 1 HOURS, THE VEHICLE STARTED BACK UP AND SHE DROVE IT TO FORD CUMBERLAND, 10335 MT SAVAGE ROAD NW, CUMBERLAND, MD WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON WITH A POLICE ESCORT SINCE THE SHERIFF OF CUMBERLAND SAT WITH MY WIFE ON MD-51N WAITING ON AAA. THIS IS AFTER SHE WAS ALMOST HIT BY A FEDEX EIGHTEEN WHEELER DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO GET TO A SAFE LOCATION FOR A TRUCK AND HORSE TRAILER DUE TO THE VEHICLE SHUTTING DOWN ON HER. THE DEALERSHIP FOUND THE PROBLEM: EXHAUST SENSOR. THEY WERE ABLE TO REPAIR IT AND SHE WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE ON WITH HER TRIP. HOW CAN THIS SENSOR GO OUT ON A TRUCK WITH ONLY 44,000 MILES ON IT? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE OVERHEATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS FOUND THAT THERE WAS A COOLANT LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
WHILE IN TOW/HAUL MODE TOWING 40' 5TH WHEEL, ENGINE OVERHEATED QUICKLY WHICH RESULTED IN LOSS OF POWER. NO LEAKS SEEN AND COOLANT WAS SPRAYING OUT OF OVERFLOW CAP ONLY. NO LIGHTS CAME ON IN DASH. SEEMS FAN IS NOT KICKING ON WHEN NEEDED? WHEN FAN DOES KICK ON, ENGINE COOLS IMMEDIATELY. THIS IS ONLY AT LOW SPEEDS UNDER HEAVY TOWING. TRUCK RUNS GREAT OTHERWISE WITH NO OVERHEATING PROBLEMS. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE WITH THIS TRUCK AND I'M SURE IT IS CAUSING DAMAGE. WARRANTY JUST RAN OUT OF COURSE. THERE IS A COOLANT LOSS AS WELL, BUT UNKNOWN WHERE IT IS GOING. NO MILKY OIL, NOTHING ON THE GROUND, AND NO WET EXHAUST PIPE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-350. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 30 MPH WHEN WHITE SMOKE EMITTED FROM THE EXHAUST. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE ENTERED INTO AN ABNORMAL SAFE MODE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
LEASED FORD 350 TRUCK ON 10/23/08. NOTICED STRANGE SMELL IN THE CAB WHEN IDLING OR WHEN HEATER OR AIR CONDITIONER WAS RUNNING. TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO SUNRISE FORD DEALERSHIP 8 TIMES FOR THIS SAME ISSUE AND WAS NOT EVER FIXED UNTIL 9TH TIME AND THEY REPLACED MANIFOLD GASKET . SO ALL THE WHILE INHALING CARBON MONOXIDE POISON. NEEDLESS TO SAY ONLY AFTER 6 MONTHS OF GETTING MY FORD 350 I GOT A HEART ATTACK AND HAD TO GET AN OPERATION ON MY HEART. THEN AGAIN JULY 4TH 2011 HAD HEART ATTACK AND HAD TO GET ANOTHER OPERATION ON MY HEART; AT FIRST DID NOT SEE THE CORRELATION UNTIL MY SPOUSE RODE IN THE TRUCK: EYES BURNED, MIGRAINE HEADACHE, AND PASSED OUT WHEN RETURNED HOME AND TASTED EXHAUST THE NEXT DAY. THAT WAS THE POINT THAT WE ALERTED FORD AND THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND FINALLY ON JUNE 12TH 2012 THE SUNRISE DEALERSHIP FINALLY FIXED THE TRUCK. THE DAMAGE TO MY HEART IS IRREVERSIBLE AND I AM ON CONSTANT MEDICATION . I NEED TO BE RECOMPENSED FOR THIS GROSS NEGLIGENCE FROM FORD AND IT AFFILIATES BECAUSE I AM SOLE PROVIDER OF 8 CHILDREN AN A VETERAN WHO SERVED THIS COUNTRY. *TR
VEHICLE WAS SITTING AT IDLE WHEN BLEW UPPER RADIATOR HOSE. I REPLACED HOSE DUE TO FORDS EXCESSIVE CHARGE TO REPLACE ONE HOSE,WAS NOT NOTIFIED THAT DUE TO THE LOSS OF FLUID. RADIATORS HOT COLD CYCLES WERE EFFECTED, SO RADIATOR WAS EFFECTED AND CREATED A CRACK IN RADIATOR DUE TO CONSTANTLY CYCLING DUE TO THE LOSS OF FLUID CREATED FROM DEFECTIVE HOSE. NOW FORD WILL NOT COVER THE RADIATOR DUE TO SERVICE MANAGERS LACK OF INFORMING CLIENT TO KEEP HOSE FOR FORD CORPORATE TO REVIEW. OTHER PROBLEMS THAT AROSE BLOWN MOTOR. *TR

I BOUGHT A 2008 SUPER DUTY WITH THE 6.4 L DIESEL ENGINE IN IT. I NOTICED THAT THE RADIATOR WAS LEAKING ON THE BOTTOM DRIVER SIDE. I DECIDED TO DO SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET TO SEE IF IT WERE A COMMON PROBLEM , TO MY SURPRISE IT WAS. EVERYONE THAT HAS A SUPER DUTY TRUCK WITH THE 6.4 L COMPLAINT ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM , RADIATOR LEAKING ON THE BOTTOM DRIVER SIDE. SOME OF THE OWNERS RECORDED THAT IT WAS THEIR 3 RD RADIATOR IN THEIR TRUCK. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON CARFAX AND NOTICED THAT ATLEAST 7 TRUCKS OUT OF 20 THAT WERE FOR SALE IN THE MEMPHIS AREA HAD THEIR RADIATORS REPLACED AND SOME TRUCKS MORE THAN 3 TIMES. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY LOOK AT MY RADIATOR AND TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE IT UNDER WARRANTY. THEY ALSO LOOKED AND MADE SURE THAT MY TRUCK HAD THE VENTURI KIT INSTALLED ON IT, THAT FORD HAD A RECALL ON THE COOLING SYSTEM BACK IN 08 , IT WAS INSTALLED. AFTER THEY REMOVED MY RADIATOR THE SERVICE MAN TOLD ME THAT IF MY THERMOSTATS WERE NOT AT FAULT THAT I HAD TO PAY FOR THE RADIATOR. MY THERMOSTATS HE SAID WERE FINE SO I WAS RESPONSIBLE TO PAY FOR A NEW RADIATOR. I STRONGLY BELIEVE FORD SHOULD BE HOLD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THESE COOLING SYSTEMS THAT IS FAILING . TO ME THEY ARE ONLY PATCHING A PROBLEM AND HOPE IT WILL LAST TILL THE WARRANTY IS OVER AND THEN IT IS THE OWNERS PROBLEM . TO MANY OWNERS OUT THERE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM FOR ME TO EXCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHAT IS CLEARLY A BAD DEFECT ON THE COOLING SYSTEM. I BROUGHT THIS 2008 FORD F-350SD TO THE DEALER TODAY BECAUSE OF ANTI-FREEZE LEAKING FROM BOTTOM OF RADIATOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE TRUCK HAS ABOUT 16000 MILES ON IT. DEALER SAYS THE RADIATOR MUST BE REPLACED AND NO WARRANTY SO I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRS. I CALLED FORD AND ASKED FOR HELP AND WAS TURNED DOWN. THE FORD DEALER CONTACTED FORD AND ASKED FOR HELP AND WAS TURNED DOWN. I HAVE READ OF NUMEROUS RADIATOR FAILURES ON THIS YEARS F350 SO EVIDENTLY THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE DESIGN OF THEIR COOLING SYSTEM AND FORD SHOULD REIMBURSE FOR THESE FAILURES. NO RADIATOR SHOULD FAIL IN 16000 MILES.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-350 SD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, HE WOULD HEAR A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT HE NEEDED TO REPLACE THE ROCKER ARMS IN THE ENGINE. THE DEALER ALSO ADVISED HIM THAT IF NOT REPLACED, THEY WOULD PUNCTURE THE MOTOR CAUSING THAT TO FAIL AS WELL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 111.
WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE TRUCK STALLED AND QUITE RUNNING. AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED INTO A FORD DEALERSHIP THEY DETERMINED THAT 2 FUEL INJECTORS ALONG WITH THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR WERE BAD. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH THEY DETERMINED IT WAS CAUSED BY CORRISON IN THE FUEL TANK. THEY SAID FORD WOULD NOT STAND BEHIND THE PROBLEM AS THEY BLAMED IT ON THE DIESEL FUEL. WE BUY THE SAME DIESEL FUEL THAT OTHER TRUCKS USE AND THEY DO NOT SEEM TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM. IT IS BOUGHT AT REPUTABLE GAS STATIONS. FORTUNATELY WE WERE ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK OFF THE ROAD THIS TIME AND NOT CAUSE ANY ACCIDENTS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE BACKED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY INSTEAD OF A MONEY MAKER FOR THEM. AFTER RESEARCHING THE INTERNET THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND MAKE FORD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. *TR
2008 FORD F350. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED A CODE CAMP UP THAT STATED CLEAN EXHAUST FILTER. THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE EXHAUST SENSOR WAS BAD AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONSUMER STATED THE SENSOR WAS REPLACED ONCE BEFORE. ALSO, PARTS ON THE RADIATOR WERE REPLACED DUE TO LEAKS AROUND THE ENGINE. THE REPAIR SHOP INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE TRUCK WAS NOT RUNNING RIGHT AND REQUESTED THE SERVICE RECORDS. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE AND HER HUSBAND PERFORMED THEIR OWN MAINTENANCE ON THE TRUCK. THE MECHANIC ASKED FOR THE TYPE OF OIL THAT WAS USED. THE CONSUMER WAS THEN INFORMED THE WRONG TYPE OF OIL WAS USED AND THE ENGINE WAS DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR. A SAMPLE OF OIL WAS TESTED AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE CORRECT OIL WAS BEING USED, HOWEVER THE OIL WAS CONTAMINATED WITH COOLANT. *JB
