Door latches inoperable. Cannot open from outside the vehicle. Passenger side front and both back doors. Back door passenger side door does not open from inside either. Had to pay $373 to Ford dealer to replace driver door latch because it wouldn't latch and made the dashboard not work. Latch codes as follows: driver 02717a (new), passenger 224100 (or 224188 cant see it clearly). Left rear 22418a Right rear cannot open door at all to see latch code. These 3 doors cannot be opened from outside and the rear right door cannot be opened at all. The contact is just inquiring if these door latches will be recalled.
THE DOOR HANDLES, LATCH AND UNLOCKING MECHANISM FAIL, CAUSING THE DOORS TO REMAIN LOCKED. YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE DOORS FROM THE INSIDE OR OR OUTSIDE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE, EXCEPT FOR THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. ALSO, THE KEY FAILED TO OPEN THE VEHICLE'S DOORS WHEN LOCKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FORD GROVES (1501 N KINGSHIGHWAY ST, CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO 63701) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR HANDLES AND RODS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,067.
MY RIGHT REAR DOOR FLEW OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AS I WAS TURNING ON TO A CITY HIGHWAY NEAR MY HOME. LUCKILY, I WAS CLOSE ENOUGH THAT I MADE IT HOME SAFELY, HOWEVER THE DOOR WOULDN'T LATCH AT ALL AFTER THIS INCIDENT. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I NORMALLY HAVE MY CAR SERVICED, THEY SAID THERE ARE MANY RECALLS FOR THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM WITH MANY FORD MODELS, MY MODEL INCLUDED, HOWEVER MY CAR DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL BASED ON THE VIN NUMBER AND THAT IT WAS ONE YEAR OLDER THAN THE OTHER MODELS THAT QUALIFIED FOR THE RECALL. THEY COULDN'T GET IT SCHEDULED TO REPAIR THE DOOR LATCH FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS, AND OBVIOUSLY IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE WITHOUT THIS PROBLEM BEING FIXED. I ENDED UP TAKING IT TO A DIFFERENT CAR SERVICE COMPANY WHO CONFIRMED IT WAS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM WITH THE RIGHT REAR DOOR LATCH, AND THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FOCUS. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE REAR DOORS FAILED TO UNLOCK UNTIL AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THE DOORS UNTIL ONE OF THE DOORS UNLOCKED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WITH ALL FOUR DOORS. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE WINDOW WAS ROLLED DOWN AND SHE WAS STILL UNABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER OR DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.

CPSC# I1250486A. 2010 FORD FOCUS. CONSUMER STATED AS SHE WAS ENTERING THE CAR HER FOOT BECAME WEDGED BETWEEN THE PLASTIC CASING ON THE DOOR. *LN THE CONSUMER NEEDED HELP GETTING THE CASING OFF OF HER FOOT. SHE SUFFERED A MINOR INJURY. THE DEALER OFFERED TO FIX THE VEHICLE. *JB
