My 2018 Ford Focus with DPS6 PowerShift transmission exhibits documented defect symptoms: shuddering, delayed engagement, jerking, slipping, and unpredictable low-speed behavior. Ford corporate has refused to open a defect case or provide arbitration review. This transmission family has known litigation history and systemic defect documentation.
I am reporting about the recall that was previously done about the backup camera going black and hard to see out of ect for the ford fusion and other ford vehicles . However I own a 2018 ford focus SE hatchback and the camera is doing the same thing and it is not added to the recall so I am hoping you can investigate this and help with it getting a recall for safety because the recall on the other vehicles states it can cause an accident and this would be a huge issue as there are blind spots so the camera is important thank u for your time.
Loss of engine power, engine noise. I am submitting this complaint regarding Ford Motor Company’s handling of an active safety recall affecting my vehicle and its failure to complete recall-related repairs after directing me to a dealership for evaluation. I previously filed a complaint with NHTSA regarding this safety issue. Following that complaint, Ford Motor Company contacted me and instructed me to bring my vehicle to an authorized Ford dealership for recall inspection and repair. I complied fully and delivered my vehicle as directed. The vehicle remains at the dealership and has not been returned to me in a repaired or operable condition. After the vehicle was brought to the dealership, Ford Customer Service opened Case # [XXX]. I was advised in writing by a Ford representative that the matter would be escalated and that a supervisor would contact me on or about December 30, 2025. No supervisor ever contacted me. I waited almost two weeks beyond the promised date and followed up by email with no response. When I later contacted Ford Customer Service by phone, I was informed that my case had been closed. I was not notified in advance of the closure, was not provided any written explanation, and the promised supervisory review never occurred. At the time the case was closed, my vehicle remained at the dealership and the recall issue had not been resolved. I am requesting that NHTSA review Ford Motor Company’s handling of this matter to determine whether Ford is complying with its own published recall bulletin and service guidance for this specific recall number, including required inspection, escalation, and resolution procedures. I relied on Ford’s recall bulletin and representations when bringing my vehicle to the dealership. I respectfully request that NHTSA evaluate whether Ford’s actions comply with federal recall obligations and whether recall-related cases are being closed without proper review, notice, or completion of required repairs. Engine light is on for no reason and when the rpm’s spike and stutter when accelerating
This incident occured right around the time of the initial recall. In January 2024. I had it repaired at another car repair shop hoping to reimbursed by Ford. The initial recall stated they would have a remedy by June 2024. This then was delayed until 1st quarter 2025. Still no remedy for the recall.
Transmission ĥas not shifter right since I purchased the vehicle. Perking and high rpm not shifting. Tool to ford they replaced clutches and it continued. Took it back 13 months later they claimed clutches needed replaced, issue has continued. Now the TCM is bad and jerking so severe it almost caused me to wreck. Despite them extending warranty on tcm until June 2025 they are refusing to fix it.
My clutch (dual clutch automatic trans) has been replaced 4+ times in less than 5 years. It will be ok for a few months and act up again. My Trans shutters and shakes bad usually in 1st gear when I'm moving from a stop. Its now affecting 2nd gear. This started happening a few months after buying the car which only had 41,000 miles. I am now out of manufacture warranty. The problem consist.
When I filled my gas tank up recently my car wouldn’t immediately start up, it started but then stalled, I repeated that a couple times before revving the engine a bit before trying to put it in drive, that got it going but now I’m worried there’s something really wrong.
The transmission began to overheat and shut the car off out of safety, upon taking it to dealership they have described the exact same problem found under recall I8S07 except this car has an automatic transmission. The clutch is stuck and has now damaged more components on the transmission resulting in a $4100 bill for repairs for something that should be a part of this safety recall.
was driving my car suddenly the car stopped working it does not reverse and goes forward the transmission no longer engages and it overheats the car can no longer be driven c because the transmission no longer works The car only has 68,500 miles, the transmission no longer works. I contacted the Ford dealer regarding the car warranty and they told me that the warranty did not cover the transmission so I had to pay $5,500 because they had to replace the entire transmission.I need your help to be able to resolve this problem. My car is almost new and the transmission no longer works.
I was driving home from my doctors appointment when I noticed the oil light on then I heard like air coming from up under the hood and the car started losing compression like gas power so I pulled over and check the oil. The oil was still full and then I remembered about the recall that Ford sent me. The problem is that Ford is telling me that it will be between May and August Before my car can get fixed .I on disability my car Note is $375. My insurance is $181 a month and now I have no way of going back-and-forth to my doctors appointments. They said that they could fix it for me for. $3000-$4000 and it’s gonna be a 14 hour job,The problem with that is I have no money to put up to pay to get this part fixed. This is on Ford they have the recall they need to get the parts for the people like me who are already breaking down from there faulty parts that they put on the car. The Ford company I bought my car from is in Laurel Mississippi, and they said I am the second person that’s done called broke down with the recall problem. They should’ve had these parts before people started breaking down. Now I feel stranded with no way of going and I would like something to get done. I’m not gonna further drive my car to make it worse. I did the right thing I made it home and parked it and that’s where it’s been for a week now and I’ve been on the phone just about every day with Ford and nothing‘s getting done.

I was driving to church on I-95 north bound when my sunroof exploded and shattered on me and inside my car
I was driving my ford focus se 2018 on 1/15/2024. Once I made my stop at an intersection leaving my community my vehicle did not accelerate when ever I made my full stop. I began to repeated make an attempt to accelerate but it refused to do so. I placed my hazardous light on and attempted to reserve back into my community but I noticed my clutch was not engaging when I switched gears to the appropriate gear despite Witnessing my dash board display the rear view to reverse, my vehicle remained stalled. I placed my ford focus 2018 in park so I’m able make a phone call I noticed my vehicle began to roll forward even tho it’s placed in park. After pushing my vehicle safety to the shoulder of the road I engaged the “E” brake. I felt comfortable and safe to leave the vehicle in it current state.
Engine stalls after filling up with fuel causing check engine light codes
The canister purge valve (which ford currently has a recall on just not for my vin) got stuck open and ruined the front manifold catalytic converter. Called ford to explain that this part is impacting other models
I bought a 2018 ford focus se with 7,000 two years ago now my car only has 52,000 miles on it and the transmission doesn't work front or rear the ford dealer told me the car is out of warranty and i have to pay $4,000 for a new transmission It's not Only that they want to rob the citizens, please, the government, do justice against these corporations. Now my car is broken down in my house with the transmission that does not work.
There is currently a recall on 2018 Ford Focus however the dealer claims my VIN is not included. Three weeks ago my check engine light came on I went to a gas station they checked it it states it was a small evaporative leak. It went off, IT came back theee days later. I went to the auto shop they said it was a gas filler neck issues. They fixed it the light went off then a day later came back on. I took it to the shop they said there is a safety recall issue with a deformation of the plastic gas tank due to the CPV which causes the deformation. The dealer refused to fix my car claiming the recall does not included my VIN. Even though what the recall stated is EXACTLY what is wrong with my car.
The vehicle is still experiencing mechanical issues with the clutch and the check engine light is on after leaving a Certified Ford dealership for the third time now over the past month but the Ford dealership is not willing to assist nor take accountability when my vehicle has never been repaired to be safe to commute in even after a clutch replacement which according to them was a recall and apart of an extended warranty. All other Ford dealerships have months waiting period for availability and I’m attempting to sell my vehicle due to the used car market crash but am now told the market value of my vehicle will be deducted since it’s still undergoing mechanical issues and has a check engine light that is present as well as issues with the powertrain / clutch that will not allow the vehicle to maintain a consistent speed, while jerking and steering - almost colliding vehicles multiples times as well as losing control. This needs to be investigated as there’s clearly internal issues/errors going on with my vehicle like the thousands of other Ford Focuses whether VIN specific or not. I’ve retained a lawyer for a lawsuit that’s now pending against Fords manufacture and I’d love to add you to it as well if you do not respond with a sense of urgency as this is my second submission regarding unrepairable issues over the past month that have caused my vehicle to be back into a Ford certified dealership 3 times now with no resolution. Ford manufacture is stating the complete opposite of the certified Ford dealership Mossy Ford in San Diego and that the vehicle doesn’t have any recalled parts nor extended warranty but than how was my vehicle repaired without my confirmation but still not in safe, drivable conditions? It will legally be proven within the letter of the law I promise you and the negligence will be highlighted as well as your administrators handlings of this critical situation will be held against you in front of a judge as the vehicle IS A LEMON!!!!!!
My car has shuddered and dies on my 3 times. 1st time with 12 miles until empty. 2nd time with 19 miles until empty and 3rd time with 30 miles left until empty. All 3 of these times were in the middle of the road. All 3 times within the last 6 months.
The car engine shuts off (or fails) without any warning while driving. This has happened randomly on numerous occasions since we purchased the car in January of 2021. Today the check oil light and check engine light both came on prior to the engine just completely shutting off while driving and would not restart. There was also a strange engine noise accompanied by the engine running “rough” prior to engine failure. We had to get the car towed. We looked up recalls and there was a recall for our make/model/year but none associated with our specific VIN #. However the recall described our same issues. We would like this investigated as this is very dangerous, unexpected and concerning. The incident happened in a busy city , on a busy road during work hours. The car is currently at a Ford Dealership awaiting inspection but we were already told there are zero recalls for our VIN #.
The check engine light came on a week and a half ago and after having someone do a diagnostic test it sent a code saying an emissions leak somewhere. The car will sputter and sometimes will not restart after fueling and has to be revved up a bit to get it going. The scary part is when it starts to sputter when at an intersection. I called the dealership that I bought this ford focus brand new in 2018 which has 20,000 miles now and the girl answering phones at Brandon Ford Tampa Fl. said my car would not be covered for my problem under warranty. I did not know until just checking online that this was actually one of 2 recall problems with the 2018 ford focus models. Would expect a little more from what is supposed to be the number one ford dealer in the south. I was blown off. Doubt my next new car will be a ford but I am waiting to hear back from you to see if I have any recourse here. Thanks for your time. turn the car on going in reverse and it stalled out were I couldn't stop and this was the second time that this happen
I bought the vehicle on 08/21/2021 which is 3 days ago the vehicle has 57k miles on it and I quickly found out why. I realized when stopping at red lights and then trying to accelerate when the light turns green the car boggs down like its stuck in a mud pit and then suddenly flies out of it. I almost rear ended a vehicle and then almost got rear ended. I had the same issues going up and over a mountain. And believe me if they had a return policy like Wal-Mart it would've been returned the same day.
My car stalls out when trying to gain speed and then trying to restart it after it stall out is very hard to do. My check engine light is on with a P1450 code.
