The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle shuddered and hesitated to respond while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the valve cover gasket was fractured and had caused oil to leak onto the spark plugs. The mechanic diagnosed that the valve cover gasket and spark plugs needed to be replaced. Additionally, the mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the brakes, the calipers, and the tie rod needed to be replaced. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 147,000.

WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE, WHEN THE ORANGE "WRENCH" LIGHT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE CAR ENGINE LOST POWER. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO PULL INTO THE RIGHT LANE AND THEN OFF THE ROAD SINCE IT WAS A CONSTRUCTION ZONE. THE CAR HAS A CODE OF P2111 POSTED, AND I THOUGHT MY 2010 FORD FUSION WAS COVERED UNDER FORD'S CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03, BUT THEY DO NOT SHOW THAT MY CAR IS COVERED UNDER 13N03, AND CAN'T EXPLAIN WHY IT IS NOT. THE SYMPTOMS OF THE PROBLEM EXACTLY MATCH THAT CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM. IT WAS QUITE A DANGEROUS SITUATION, HAVING THE ENGINE LOSE POWER LIKE THAT WHILE DRIVING ON A CROWDED INTERSTATE, AND I FEEL THAT EVEN THOUGH THIS IS AN OLDER VEHICLE, IT SHOULD BE LLOOKED INTO FURTHER.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN THE FAST LANE ON THE HIGHWAY MY 2010 FORD FUSION SPORT OVERHEATED AND CUT OFF DUE TO A FAULTY HEAT PUMP WHICH RESULTED IN COOLANT LEAKING INTO IT AND WARPING MY ENGINE. THERE WAS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ANY OTHER INDICATOR THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE. I HAD EVEN JUST GOTTEN MY CAR "WINTER READY" WITH MY MECHANIC AND IN NOVEMBER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING UP A SLIGHT INCLINE AND STOPPING, THE VEHICLE WOULD DRIFT BACKWARDS WHEN IN DRIVE GEAR. THE VEHICLE HAD AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. WHEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED, THE RPMS INCREASED, BUT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SWITCH GEARS SMOOTHLY LIKE IT WAS DESIGNED TO DO. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ONLY PRINTED OUT THE RECALL INFORMATION. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
VEHICLE HAS 1 TO 2 SECOND DELAY AFTER DEPRESSING THROTTLE BEFORE ACCELERATION OCCURS. VERY SIMILAR TO NHTSA ID NUMBER: 11219222 AND NHTSA ID NUMBER: 10167224. SUSPECT IT'S RELATED TO NHTSA ID NUMBER: 11233861 THIS HAS RESULTED IN NUMEROUS CLOSE CALLS AND NEAR T-BONE ACCIDENTS IN THIS CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE SEIZED AND ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND ASKED A BYSTANDER FOR ASSISTANCE. THE BYSTANDER OPENED THE HOOD AND DEPRESSED THE MANUAL RESTART BUTTON, WHICH ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO RESTART AND RETURN TO NORMAL; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. SOUTH BAY FORD (5100 ROSECRANS AVE, HAWTHORNE, CA 90250, (310) 584-7641) WAS CONTACTED TO SCHEDULE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
2010 FUSION HYBRID LOST POWER THEN SHUT DOWN. A WARNING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAID TO PULL OVER SAFELY AND STOP. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND FOUND OTHER DRIVERS OF THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. APPARENTLY FORD MOTOR IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT HAS DONE NOTHING TO REMEDY THE SITUATION. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THE PROBLEM MAY BE WITH THE THROTTLE BODY ACCORDING TO SOME OF THE COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ. MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY BUT OTHERS HAVE HAD THE PROBLEM WITH VEHICLES UNDER WARRANTY. THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED AT 45 MPH, THANKFULLY JUST BEFORE TURNING ONTO I95 INTERSTATE ENTRANCE.
I NOTICED TODAY THERE IS A FORD RECALL FOR 2012 THROUGH 2018 FORD FOCUS FOR A FAULTY PART THAT COULD LEAD TO ENGINE STALLS. THE RECALL STATES A MALFUNCTIONING VALVE THAT COULD RESULT IN INACCURATE FUEL LEVEL READINGS AND POTENTIALLY ENGINE STALLS OR AN INABILITY TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING IN MY 2010 FORD FUSION. WHILE I AM DRIVING AND START TO SLOW DOWN AT A STOP SIGN OR TO TURN THE CORNER THE ENGINE STALLS AND JERKS AND THEN IT GOES AWAY UNTIL THE NEXT TIME I SLOW DOWN OR TURN. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE THE SAME SITUATION AS THE CURRENT RECALL FOR THE FORD FOCUS. DRIVER SIDE DOOR CAN'T LOCK.
TAKATA RECALL WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM A CAR LOT IT WAS SAID THAT IT WAS INSPECTED AND READY. ENDED UP HAVING TO REPLACE (2) MOTOR MOUNTS AND (1) TRANSMISSION MOUNT. WAS HAVING A VIBRATION FROM CAR, RUNNING, IN GEAR, AT STOPS, HOLDING BRAKE.
ERROR CODE P2112 - STUCK THROTTLE BODY. ACCELERATION DISAPPEARS AT HIGH RATE OF SPEED, RESULTING IN LIMP ALONG, NO PROPULSION TO ZERO. CAR STALLS IN HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC, REQUIRING IMMEDIATE PULLOVER. VERY UNSAFE. OTHER FUSIONS OF SAME EXACT YEAR, PRODUCTION LOCATION, AND MODEL ARE COVERED UNDER A CUSTOMER SERVICE BULLETIN 13N03, BUT NOT THE HYBRIDS, EVEN THOUGH EXPERIENCING THE SAME EXACT ISSUE. DRIVING DOWN A EXIT, RAMP, LOST ALL ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. I IDLED TO THE PARTS STORE, HAD THE CHECK ENGINE CODE READ, IT INDICATED A THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTION. I ORDERED AND THEN REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AND IT FIXED THE PROBLEM
I TOOK MY 2010 FORD FUSION TO ONE OF MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIPS FOR ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. I WAS CHARGED FOR $450 FOR THE MANUFACTURED RECALL/INVESTIGATION, WHEN IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE FREE. PLEASE FIND MY BILL ATTACHED IN DOCUMENTATION. THANKS
VARIABLE VALVE TIMING NEEDS REPLACED VEHICLE SHAKES. SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM WITH A VEHICLE 7 YEARS OLD
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED WITH CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED, THE CRUISE CONTROL DE-ACTIVATES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, AND THE WRENCH ICON COMES ON AT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE ENGINE BEGINS TO RUN VERY ROUGH, SURGING, THEN SLOWING DOWN, AND THE CRUISE CONTROL CANNOT BE RE-ENGAGED. THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED BY THE FORD DEALER 18 MONTHS AGO, AND THE CONDITION THAT EXISTS NOW WAS THE SAME THAT EXISTED PRIOR TO THE THROTTLE BODY BEING REPLACED 18 MONTHS AGO. VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS LESS THAN 68,000 MILES. FUEL ECONOMY IS 20% LOWER THAN NORMAL. IT IS FRIGHTENING TO ATTEMPT TO PASS ON 2-LANE ROADS, BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN THE ENGINE WILL SPUTTER. THIS STARTED OCCURRING OCCASIONALLY IN MID-JUNE, 2017, AND NOW OCCURS EVERY TIME YOU DRIVE THE CAR. CODE THAT WAS STORED WAS P2119, "THROTTLE BODY RANGE."
TAKATA RECALL WHENEVER I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, MY CAR SEEMS TO STOP ACCELERATING OR STALL. THE RPM GOES UP, PUT IT DOES NOT ACCELERATE. I HAVE TO PULL OVER, AND CUT MY CAR OFF FOR IT TO START DRIVING AGAIN AND REPEAT THAT PROCESS WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN AND ITS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A WHILE. WHEN I GOT MY TRANSMISSION FLUID FLUSHED AND TOPPED OF IT STOPPED HAPPENING FOR A FEW MONTHS, BUT THEN IT STARTED MESSING UP AGAIN.
THE ISSUE I HAVE BEEN HAVING WITH THIS VEHICLE INVOLVES THE THROTTLE BODY WHICH HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE NOW SINCE I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR. WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE, MYSELF AND MY DAUGHTER, AT SEPARATE TIMES, LOST ACCELERATION WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION IF THE TIMING OF BEING ON THE ROAD WAS DIFFERENT AS WELL AS THE AMOUNT OF VEHICLES ON THE ROAD. WE BOTH WERE ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THANK GOODNESS WE WERE BOTH IN THE FAR RIGHT LANE WHEN THE ACCELERATION FAILED. FORD DID RECALL THE PRODUCT AT ONE TIME, HOWEVER, NOW THEY ARE UNWILLING TO ASSIST WITH THE 2ND FAIL. THIS APPEARS TO BE EITHER AN ENGINEERING DEFECT OR VENDOR DEFECT IN THE PART. THIS IS A DANGEROUS DEFECT AS COLLISIONS COULD OCCUR WHEN UNABLE TO ACCELERATE ON HIGH SPEED ROADS AS WELL AS DANGEROUS FOR OTHER DRIVERS WHO ARE UNABLE TO GAGE THE SPEED OF THE SLOW MOVING VEHICLE.

WITHOUT WARNING, DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS WE LOST POWER. GOT THE CAR STARTED AGAIN AND REALIZED THERE WAS NO HEAT, THEN NOTICED THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS ON HOT. THE BATTERY LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND WRENCH LIGHT TURNED ON. WE EVENTUALLY HAD TO BE TOWED AT A COST OF $460. THE MASTER MECHANIC IDENTIFIED THE WATER PUMP CRACKED, THEN RESEALED ITSELF AND COOLANT MIXED WITH THE OIL WHICH KILLED THE ENGINE. HE SAID THERE WOULD HAVE NOT BEEN ANY WARNING AND THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN SEEN BEFORE AND IS CATASTROPHIC. WE NOW HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE AT A COST OF $8000. THERE ARE FORUMS ONLINE WITH OTHER FUSION OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE BUT NO RECOGNITION OR RECALL FROM FORD. I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THIS CAR SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT. I HAD TO HAVE MY ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY REPLACED TWICE, ALSO NOT A RECALL BY FORD BUT A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM. I GUESS THEY ARE OK WITH HAVING CARS LITERALLY TURNING OFF AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS BEFORE THEY FIX THE ISSUES. *TR
WATER PUMP IN MY 2010 FORD FUSION SPORT (3.5 LITER V6 ENGINE) FAILED, CAUSING SEVERE ENGINE DAMAGE AND SUDDEN OVERHEATING. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET WHEN I NOTICED THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE RISING QUICKLY TO THE TOP. I HAD TO PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY. THE CAR ONLY HAD 54,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND HAD BEEN WELL MAINTAINED WITH DOCUMENTED REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND PERIODIC MAINTENANCE PERFORMED AT THE DEALERSHIP.
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE AND IMMEDIATELY LOST POWER. THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE IN TRAFFIC. LUCKILY OUR HOUSE WAS WITHIN 1 MILE OF WHERE THE FAILURE HAPPENED. AFTER MAKING IT HOME WE HAD THE OBD ENGINE CODE READ AND IT STATED THAT IT WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. WE FOUND OUT SEARCHING THE INTERNET THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND FORD HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THIS ISSUE TO 10 YEARS 150,000 MILES. CAR IS 6 YEARS OLD WITH 109,000 MILES. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ILLUMINATED. WE IMMEDIATELY SCHEDULED SERVICE AT A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THEY WOULD NOT MAKE ANY REPAIRS UNDER FIELD SERVICE ACTION NUMBER: 13N03 BECAUSE THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ILLUMINATED. THEY SUGGESTED WE RETURN WHEN THE CAR EXHIBITS THE ISSUE AGAIN. IN OTHER WORDS "COME BACK NEXT TIME YOUR CAR FAILS WHILE DRIVING". THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, WITH DANGEROUS CONSEQUENCES, AND SERVICE WAS REFUSED. WE CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS AND WAS TOLD THE CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED. THEY CONTACTED THE DEALER AND AFTERWARDS REVISED THEIR STATEMENT, CLAIMING THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON MUST BE ILLUMINATED FOR THE REPAIR TO BE COVERED UNDER FIELD SERVICE ACTION NUMBER: 13N03. THIS IS A KNOWN INTERMITTENT ISSUE, AND ACCORDING TO THE SERVICING DEALER "THE CODE IS CLEARED AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE 3 TIMES". THIS WAS NEVER MENTIONED WHEN MAKING THE SERVICE APPOINTMENT. IF THE BURDEN OF PROOF WAS ON US, WE WOULD HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IMMEDIATELY TO THE DEALERSHIP. NOW WE ARE SIMPLY WAITING FOR THE FAILURE TO OCCUR AGAIN SO WE CAN HAVE THE REPAIRS MADE. HOPEFULLY, THE FAILURE DOES NOT HAPPEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. *TR
THE VEHICLE STARTING HAVING A ROUGH IDLE AND STALLING OUT AT A RED LIGHTS. I IMMEDIATELY HAD IT CHECKED, AND THE TECHNICIAN CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY WHICH SEEMED TO HELP FOR A FEW DAYS. THEN, WITH NO WARNING I SAW SMOKE/STEAM POURING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD SO I IMMEDIATELY CALLED FOR HELP AND ASKED WHAT TO DO. I WAS ADVISED BY THE TECHNICIAN TO IMMEDIATELY PULL OVER AND SHUT THE CAR. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO LILLISTON FORD IN VINELAND, NJ. I WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW MOTOR. WHEN ASKED WHY, I WAS CONSISTENTLY TOLD THAT THEY WERE NOT SURE WITHOUT TAKING THE MOTOR APART BUT THAT THEY FOUND ALL OF THE COOLANT IN THE ENGINE PAN, MIXED WITH THE MOTOR OIL. IT SEEMS TO BE THAT THE MOST LIKELY SCENARIO IS THAT THE HEAD GASKET WENT BAD AND COOLANT LEAKED INTO THE MOTOR CAUSING TWO THINGS TO HAPPEN - IT MIXED WITH THE ENGINE OIL (WHICH IS OBVIOUSLY BAD), AND SINCE NOW ALL OF THE COOLANT WAS OUT OF THE RADIATOR THE CAR OVERHEATED AND WARPED THE ENGINE BLOCK. THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD AND WAS RELIGIOUSLY MAINTAINED AND SHOULD NOT BE HAVING MAJOR ISSUES AS SUCH. CASE NUMBER: CAS-9188661.
