TAKATA RECALL- FORD REPEATEDLY SENDS NOTICE OF RECALL AND STATES PARTS ARE AVAILABLE AND TO CONTACT A DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE DEALER STATES THERE ARE NO PARTS AND WILL CONTACT ME WHEN AVAILABLE. I AM NEVER CONTACTED. THE LAST FORD RECALL LETTER STATES IN RED LETTERS "DO NOT DRIVE THIS VEHICLE" UNTIL THE AIRBAG REPAIR IS COMPLETED, BUT IT NEVER GETS REPAIRED BECAUSE THEY CLAIM PARTS HAVE TO BE ORDERED. I HAVE A VEHICLE THAT IS NOT SAFE AND THAT I AM NOT ABLE TO DRIVE FOR AN INDEFINITE PERIOD OF TIME. NO ASSISTANCE IS GIVEN BY FORD OR IT'S DEALERSHIPS.

THESE COMMUNICATIONS ALSO INDICATE THE REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THEY CANNOT GET THE REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS AND DON'T KNOW WHEN THEY WILL BECOME AVAILABLE. THE FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER INDICATES THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. WHO IS TELLING THE TRUTH HERE? AM I EXPECTED TO RENT A CAR INDEFINETELY? MY INSURANCE WILL ONLY COVER A RENTAL FOR FREE FOR 30 DAYS.

I'VE RECEIVED NUMEROUS LETTERS CLAIMING THAT MY RANGER IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL. AS INSTRUCTED, I CALLED RICHMOND FORD LINCOLN TO SCHEDULE A TOW AND REPLACEMENT OF THE AIRBAG. ON FIRST ATTEMPT, I WAS GIVEN A WINDOW OF TIME THAT A TOW TRUCK DRIVER WOULD ARRIVE TO TOW THE TRUCK AND TOLD I DIDN'T NEED TO BE PRESENT WITH THE KEY IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THE TOW. IT NEVER ARRIVED AND I NEVER RECEIVED ANY WORD FROM THE DEALERSHIP. A WEEK LATER I CALLED AGAIN WAS ROUTED TO A FEW INDIVIDUALS WITH THE THIRD TELLING ME THAT THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER AND WOULDN'T ARRIVE UNTIL AUGUST - THREE MONTHS FROM THE DATE OF THE CALL. I'VE CONTINUED TO RECEIVE MAIL DESCRIBING IN GREAT DETAIL HOW DEADLY THIS SITUATION IS AND DON'T BELIEVE I HAVE ANY RECOURSE AT THIS POINT. ANYTHING THAT CAN BE DONE TO HELP REMEDY THE SITUATION AND PROTECT THE SAFETY OF ME AND MY PASSENGERS WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.

I HAVE A CUSTOMER COMPLAINT OPEN, CAS 14958575-P7N4C3. I FOLLOWED UP WITH THE DEALER AND GOT THE SAME RESPONSE. THE RANGER IS FLASHING A CODE 34(DRIVER AIR BAG). AM I SUPPOSED TO BE CONTENT THAT THE KILLER AIR BAG WAS CHANGE FOR A DEFECTIVE AIR BAG? DEALER INVOICE THE DATE AS 3/5/18, NOT CORRECT.

"TAKATA RECALL" 'YOUR DEALER IS AUTRHORIZED TO PROVIDE A RENTAL VEHICLE FOR YOUR PERSONAL TRANSPORTATION . . .' MY PROBLEM IS THE DEALER TELLS ME THAT THEY HAVE A BACK LOG ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR MORE THAN A YEAR. MY VEHICLE IS MY ONLY MODE OF TRANSPORTATION AND I HAVE MISSED 2 DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS THAT REQUIRES ME A ONE AND ONE HALF HOUR TO DRIVE. THE PROBLEM IS THE DEALER TELLS ME THAT FORD WILL ONLY PAY FOR 2 DAYS RENTAL. I ALSO LIVE IN A RURAL AREA OF NORTH ARKANSAS. AT THIS DATE, THE DEALER IS STILL WAITING FOR THE BACK ORDER, HAS NO CARS TO RENT, AND BEING IN A RURAL AREA THERE ARE NO CAR RENTAL AGENCIES WITH IN A SHORT DISTANCE.

THE SECOND TIME THEY SAID THEY HAD TO ORDER THE AIRBAG REPLACEMENT PART. ITS BEEN WEEKS. THIS IS THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN 2006. WELL, I HAD BOTH THE INFLATORS REPLACED IN 2016. SO NOW I GOT ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE THAT I HAVE TO HAVE BOTH THOSE INFLATORS REPLACED AGAIN. SO EVEN AFTER I HAD THOSE INFLATORS REPLACED TWO YEARS AGO, I NEED TO HAVE THEM REPLACED AGAIN. DID THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE INFLATORS WITH TWO MORE DEFECTIVE INFLATORS? HAVE I BEEN DRIVING AROUND, STILL, WITH INFLATORS THAT COULD KILL ME? NOBODY SEEMS TO HAVE AN ANSWER. ALSO, WHY WAS THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY ALLOWED TO REPLACE BAD INFLATORS WITH BAD INFLATORS? THE NEW RECALL FROM FORD TELLS ME THAT PARTS ARE AVAILABLE, YET, THEY HAVE NO PARTS.(I SAW MY DEALER YESTERDAY) SO NOW I AM STILL DRIVING AROUND IN A VEHICLE THAT COULD POSSIBLY KILL ME WITH A DEVICE THAT WAS MEANT TO SAVE ME. I CALLED FORD'S 866-436-7332 NUMBER (LISTED IN THE RECALL) ON MARCH 19TH (CASE #14406815) AND WAS INFORMED PARTS WERE AVAILABLE AND THEY WERE SENDING INSTRUCTIONS TO JIM HASSLER AT CRATER LAKE FORD FOR ORDERING. ON SUBSEQUENT CONTACTS I WAS TOLD PARTS WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE. I THEN CONTACT BRAIN HALL ON MARCH 26TH @ BUTLER FORD, ASHLAND, OREGON AND WAS INFORMED PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE ALSO. I SUBSEQUENTLY TALKED WITH MARK RETTER @ BUTLER FORD ON APRIL 4TH AND 9TH AND RECEIVED THE SAME INFORMATION. THERE MUST BE A BREAKDOWN IN INFORMATION/COMMUNICATION BETWEEN FORD AND ITS DEALERS.
