My park to shift to park warning keeps coming on. It was replaced under warranty once and came on again comes and goes and dealership is not replace it again saying it isn’t tripping a code so it won’t get covered under the parts warranty.
Shift to park caused by a faulty micro switch. Woukd take up to 30 min to get car in park, leading to engine shutdown failures and possibly battery drain I did replace battery before I knew this was causing this. Messages did appear saying this was an issue ,must shift to park but no indication of how to do it. I got this repaired at barkley GMC Dec 29:30
When in park the car is alerting to “shift to park”.
There are 2 issues im experiencing. The first is the vehicle won't allow me to shut down the engine because it doesnt recognize that its been shifted into "park". Ive already paid close to 800.00 to.have this repaired because my model year is not covered in the recall. Today, it started doing it again. The safety issue is that either I, my wife, or my teenage daughter (depending on who is with the vehicle). Can be left stranded, unless we pop the hood and disconnect the battery. The second issue is that the tire pressure monitor is no longer working. It is sending warnings that our tire pressure is low. When its not. The safety issue is needing to pull to the side of the road to check the tire pressure and also not knowing when the vehicle may actually have a low tire.
Car gives “shift to park error” around every 5th time I turn it off. I have to turn the car back on and repark it to be able to actually turn off
The "Shift to Park" error warning comes on even though the vehicle is in park. The vehicle will not turn off. I had this issue with my 2017 GMC Acadia. They tried to fix it once, but it came back. I see in the 2019 version that they have added an audible dinging to the warning. I would have thought after at least 2 years they would have resolved this issue. They just made it more annoying by adding the dinging.
My radio is going crazy. Like going through every radio station, calls people. Its a distraction. And after researching how to fix I noticed thousands of people have the same problem. Almost cause an accident because of the distraction and this is obvious problem in GMC.
My car will not shut off as I am parked and “shift to park” is alerting me. The car keeps beeping. I have to re-start it multiple times and shift it in and out of park for it to finally go off. This last time it took 25 min to shut my car off.
My vehicle just hit 39K miles, it has all of a sudden started giving me a Shift Into Park warning. The sensor is not registering that its in park and will not let you turn car off. There is a recall on the 2017-2018 vehicles for this issue and but many report an issue with the 2019, when I called GMC they would not fix. How to we go about having this included in the recalls?
The touch Display screen. It has started to constantly go through every setting on the car while driving. I’ve tried turning the screen off. It works for a few minutes and then turns itself back on. It will change radio stations. It will make phone calls if a phone is detected. It is a constant distraction while driving GMC is obviously aware of the problem. You can call a service center. They will tell you that it happens all the time and that the part will cost you around 800$ not including service charges. With how many people depend on display screens in today’s technological ways. It’s only a matter of time before a serious accident occurs from this, if not already that hasn’t been reported. Also this affects more than just my vehicle. It’s across most of GMC models. Several public forums related to this issue.
The Rear Hood was opened to get groceries. All of a sudden the hood came down on my back. I had to push the hood up manually, and tried to close with remote or with button on the hood but the Rear hood would not close. I then had to manually close the hood. On August 11, 2021 I took the car to the dealer and they replaced both Rear Hood Struts that wear leaking fluid. This SUV is only 2 years old with 16000 miles and should not be having these type of safety issues that can potentially be life threatening.
When I put Shifter in PARK, the dash indicator states the car is in PARK. I then push the Start/Stop button to turn the car off, but the dash displays car is not in PARK. Sometimes the car will not shutoff or the car just beeps until I push the Stop/Start button. I cannot lock doors to leave the car. When this occurs or when left in this state the battery runs down, which leaves me stranded. This is certainly a safety issue on various levels. It the car really in Park! What if it on a hill and starts to roll into me or someone else.. Scary!!
Shift to park message appears post vehicle being in park! Vehicle has been inspected per Jeff Schmidt auto group (formerly Valentine Buick GMC, Inc! I was told shifter needs replaced as well as harness! Very disappointed do to the fact I brought this vehicle in 2019 off the showroom floor and 3 yrs later there’s a problem with my shift gear with 36k miles on vehicle..
AFTER PLACING MY CAR IN PARK, AND TRYING TO CUT OFF THE ENGINE, IT ALERTS ME TO "SHIFT TO PARK" ... I WILL HAVE TO RESTART MY ENGINE, PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND THEN BACK TO PARK, AND TRY AGAIN TO SHUT OFF THE CAR. SOMETIMES IT WORKS ON THE SECOND ATTEMPT, BUT USUALLY TAKES 3-4 TIMES OF CUTTING ENGINE OFF AND ON, SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE TO PARK AGAIN. IF YOU ATTEMPT TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, THE HORN WILL START TO HONK, AND ALARM GOES OFF. THE CAR IS CLEARLY IN PARK, THE SHIFTER CAN NOT MOVE FORWARD ANY FURTHER, AND THE INDICATOR SAYS ITS IN "PARK" IT IS ONLY AFTER YOU PRESS THE START/STOP BUTTON THAT THE ALARM INDICATES IT NEEDS TO BE "SHIFTED INTO PARK"
FIRST TIME BACK IN JUNE 10TH, 2020, I TOOK IT IN BECAUSE OF "REMOTE NOT DETECTED" THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, FEW HOURS LATER, SAME DAY AFTER I PICKED THE CAR UP IT WENT HAYWIRE WHILE PARKED. IT THREW ITSELF INTO THEFT MODE, WOULD NOT LET US MANUALLY LOCK THE CAR, ELECTRICAL WAS STILL ON BUT ENGINE WAS SHUT OFF, ALARM, WINDSHIELD WIPERS, AND LIGHTS WAS GOING OFF WHILE I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS TIME THEY'VE TOLD ME, THE A/C CONDENSATION FRIED THE CPU MODULE BECAUSE THE ONLY THING KEEPING WATER OUT OF THE CPU WAS A TRAY. SEPTEMBER 9TH, 2020 I TAKE IT BACK INTO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE AGAIN THE CAR KEPT READING "NO REMOTE DETECTED". THEY CLAIMED IT WAS MY "DASH CAM" THAT CAUSED THE ISSUE. OCTOBER 14TH, 2020 THE CAR AGAIN WENT HAYWIRE WHILE IN MOTION. THIS TIME IT THREW ITSELF INTO THEFT MODE, ALARM WENT OFF, WIPERS, WAS READING LOW FUEL (FULL TANK) STEERING ASSIST TURNED ON AND OFF, BRAKES STARTED LOCKING MID BUSY STREET, STEERING WHEEL TIGHTENED ALSO. I BARELY COULD TURN IT INTO A NEIGHBORHOOD STREET TO GET OFF THE ROAD. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN, THROUGH MY TRIPLE A PLAN FOR THE SECOND TIME BECAUSE I WAS "OUT OF THE AREA" THAT THEY COULD SEND A TOW TRUCK TO. THEY TELL ME AGAIN CONDENSATION GOT INTO THE CPU AND WASN'T EVEN SURE IF IT'LL HAPPEN AGAIN IF I CONTINUE TO RUN THE A/C. I PICKED THE CAR UP THE NEXT WEEK AND ON OCTOBER 25TH, 2020 THE CAR AGAIN WOULD NOT READ THE KEYS. EVERY INCIDENT BUT OCTOBER 25TH, 2020 INCIDENT, I HAVE LET A SUPERVISOR FROM GM KNOW OF THE SITUATION, HIS NAME IS [XXX] EXT. I HAVE RECORDED EVEN PHONE RECORDS OF EVERY INCIDENT THAT'S OCCURRED. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
MY MOTHER HAS BECOME TRAPPED TWO TIMES DUE TO THE LOCKS ON THE VEHICLE NOT WORKING. THE ISSUE ONLY HAPPENS WHEN IT RAINS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY REPLACED SOME KIND MECHANISM AND THAT EVERYTHING WAS GOOD TO GO. IT RAINED AGAIN YESTERDAY AND MY MOTHER WAS TRAPPED IN THE VEHICLE AGAIN. THIS HAPPENS ANYTIME YOU TRY TO ENGAGE THE LOCKS, I.E. IN PARK, PUTTING IT IN PARK, PUTTING IT IN DRIVE, USING ONSTAR TO LOCK OR UNLOCK, USING THE GMC APP TO LOCK OR UNLOCK, USING EITHER KEY FOB TO LOCK OR UNLOCK, TRYING TO LOCK OR UNLOCK IT MANUALLY.
