I have noticed over the last few weeks I am losing radiator fluid. Its slow but noticeable. Engine temperature rises and fan stays on. My 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 only has 50,150 miles on it, and started well under 50,000. It looks like the leak is from upper contact points of Radiator and frame. I have come to find out that GMC has put a notice out on this issue and put a recall/repair out on the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 for the same issue. Its a know defect. ( I WILL ATTACH COPIES ) I went to the dealer and was told they would fix the 2014 but have not issued a fix for the 2015. "Not enough complaints"? Its a very expensive fix for a KNOWN manufactured defect but GMC (AND CHEVY TRUCKS) want more complaints.... so here is my filing. Kind of a silly game they are playing when they know it should be a recall issue.
IT HAS A PROBLEM WITH CYCLING OF THE THERMOSTAT THAT CAUSES STRESS FRACTURES ON THE RADIATOR LEADING TO COOLANT LEAKS. ATTACHED ARE GM BULLETINS ON THE 2014 AND 2015 MODELS. AS ONE CAN SEE THEY HAVE PROVIDED SPECIAL COVERAGE. MY RADIATOR IS LEAKING JUST LIKE THE SERVICE BULLETIN SAYS. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALL.
RADIATOR FORMS STRESS CRACKS FROM CONSTANT THERMOSTAT CYCLING. THE RESULTING CRACKS CAUSE THE RADIATOR TO LEAK. GM HAS ISSUED SPECIAL COVERAGES FOR CERTAIN MODELS BUT DOESN'T ACKNOWLEDGE IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON OTHER MODELS OUTSIDE THE COVERAGE.
The contact owns a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while the vehicle was being serviced at the local dealer, he was informed that the radiator had a leak and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RADIATOR TUBE FAILED AND ALLOWED RADIATOR FLUID TO LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BROADWAY CHEVROLET AUTOMOTIVE (2700 ASHLAND AVENUE, GREEN BAY, WI 53404, (920) 498-666), TO BE INSPECTED. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE RADIATOR AND THERMOSTAT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000. WHEN I WAS DRIVING MY TRUCK OFF THE HIGHWAY ONTO THE MAIN ROAD WHERE I WAS GOING I NOTICED THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH MY TRUCK. AFTER COMING TO A STOP AT A RED LIGHT ONCE IT TURNED I ACCELERATED AND SUDDENLY FELT A JERK FROM THE TRUCK AND HEARD A LOUD WHISTLING NOISE. IT DID THIS MULTIPLE TIMES ABOUT 5-6 TIME EVERY TIME I WOULD ACCELERATE FROM A SPEED OF 30-40. I DECIDED TO DROP IT OFF AT MY LOCAL GMC TO GET IT LOOKED AT. THEY CALLED ME THE NEXT DAY TO PICK IT UP SINCE THEY RAN IT THROUGH DIAGNOSTICS AND DIDN'T FIND AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE. ONCE I GOT THERE I DEMANDED FOR THE MECHANIC TO COME DRIVE THE TRUCK WITH ME TO SEE WHAT THE ISSUE WAS AND THEY DECIDED THEY NEEDED TO KEEP IT FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS TO GET IT LOOKED AT. THEY THEN CALLED TWO DAYS AFTER AND SAID THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS MESSED UP AND NEEDED A NEW ONE TOTALING THE COST TO $5346.07 WHICH IS CERTAINLY NOT SOMETHING WE CAN AFFORD RIGHT NOW! I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THEY DIDN'T SEE THE ISSUE THE FIRST TIME THEY DIAGNOSED IT?? THIS IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO GET RECALLED I HAVE SEEN MANY SIMILAR ISSUES.
PURCHASED TRUCK NEW 37 MONTHS AGO, HAS 938 HOURS ON THE ENGINE AND 47500 MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES. NO ACCIDENTS. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER THERE IS A SMALL LEAK IN THE RADIATOR, TOP RIGHT SIDE(FROM THE DRIVER'S SEAT), COST TO REPAIR $1200.
AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM FAILURE. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR OTHER RECALL RELATED SERVICE. I FURTHER REQUESTED THEY CHECK THE HVAC, AS IT STOPPED WORKING APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS AGO. I HAD IT RECHARGED ONCE, AND THE CHARGE FAILED TO HOLD. THE GMC DEALERSHIP IN MOBILE, AL EXPLAINED THEY HAVE RECEIVED A LARGE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT FAILURES OCCURRING TO THE AC SYSTEM. HE EXPLAINED IT CENTERS AROUND FAILURE OF A WELD IN THE COILS. HE STATED THE REPAIR COSTS APPROXIMATELY $1,300.00 AT THE DEALERSHIP...HE WAS DISCOUNTING THE COST TO $950.00 TO COMPETE WITH THE LOCAL VEHICLE AC SHOP WHICH CHARGES APPROX $800.00 FOR THE SAME SERVICE. HE ADVISED HE WAS NOT AWARE OF A RECALL FOR THE PROBLEM AND FURTHER ADVISED HE WAS SURPRISED GM HADN'T RECALLED, AS IT'S A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE SYSTEM. I AM FILING A FORMAL COMPLAINT IN HOPES OTHERS HAVE DONE THE SAME, AS GM SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CORRECTING THIS FAILURE.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ASTRO BUICK GMC (2238 WHITE HALL BLVD, WHITE HALL, WV 26554, (304) 366-4460) FOR THE AIR CONDITIONER NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CONDENSER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25,000.
TAKATA RECALL. I RECENTLY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY CONFIRMED MULTIPLE CALLS ON THE AC CONDENSER LEAKING FREON. WE HAVE TWO 2015 GMC SIERRAS WITH THE SAME LEAK. A SERVICE CENTER EMPLOYEE/MECHANIC AT BOB BROCKLAND IN COLUMBIA IL VERIFIED MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS.
AC BLOWING WARM AIR - MAY HAVE A CONDITION WHERE THERMAL CYCLING ON THE COMBINATION TRANSMISSION FLUID/OIL AND AC CONDENSER COOLER CREATES A CRACK THAT MAY ALLOW REFRIGERANT TO ESCAPE. THIS CONDITION CONSEQUENTLY MAY DEACTIVATE THE AC SYSTEM.
MY AC CONDITIONS DEVELOPED A PIN HOLE LEAK ALONG THE SEAM/BRAZE.
HVAC - NO AC COLD AIR.
AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSER FAILED. DOES NOT ALLOW DEFROST TO OPERATE.
MY GMC 2015 DIESEL DURIMAX TRUCK HAD THE ENGINE LIGHT TURN ON AND SAID EMISSION NEEDS SERVICED. IT PROCEEDED TO CUT MY TRAVELING SPEED FROM 75 MPH TO 65 MPH TO 55 MPH. I MADE IT TO DENVER COLORADO BARELY WITHOUT THE TRUCK FALLING TO 4 MPH. I WENT YESTERDAY TO HAVE IT SERVICED. THEY SAID THAT THEY FIXED IT STILL UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. I DROVE AWAY TO GO BACK TO TEXAS 700 MILES OF HIGHWAY HOME. I DROVE AND THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN. I'M WAS ON A HIGHWAY AT THIS POINT WITH HEAVY HIGHSPEED TRAFFIC IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE WHERE THE SPEED LIMIT IS 75 MPH. MY TRUCK SPEED WAS REDUCED BY THE EMISSION SYSTEM AGAIN FROM 75 MPH TO 65 MPH TO 55 MPH. I WAS ALMOST HIT BY A BIG RIG TRUCK WITH MY WIFE IN THE CAR. SOMETIME LATER WERE ALMOST SIDE SWIPED TWICE, AND THEN IT STARTED RAINING AND THE SUN STARTED TO SET, AND MATTERS WENT FROM DANGEROUS TO NEAR DEADLY. WE TRIED TO TURN THE TRUCK AROUND TO GET BACK TO DENVER AND ALMOST WERE HIT AGAIN BECAUSE WITH THE GMC SPEED REDUCTION I COULD NOT ACCELERATE AWAY FROM THE HIGH SPEED CARS COMING AT US. GMC SHUTDOWNS THE CAR SPEED PURPOSELY TO AVOID SOME TINY AMOUNT OF NOX, AND PUT PEOPLE AT RISK OF BEING KILLED ON A HIGHWAY IN RAINY NIGHTIME WEATHER. WE FINALLY MADE IT BACK TO DENVER JUST 19 MILES BEFORE THE TRUCK SPEED WOULD HAVE BEEN REDUCED TO 4 MPH. WE WOULD HAVE TO BEEN ON THAT 75 MPH HIGHWAY RIDING IN THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE SLOW LANE AT 4 MPH !!!!! AT NIGHT IN THE RAIN WITH HIGH SPEED 18 WHEELERS GOING BY AT 75 TO 85 MPH. THE GOVERNMENT AND GMC ARE INSANE TO HAVE DESIGNED THIS, I AM BRINGING IT TOMORROW TO GET TRY TO GET IT FIXED AGAIN BUT THE ORDEAL I WENT THRU IS STILL SCARY AS HELL, AND WORRIED ABOUT IT GETTING FIXED. WE COULD BE KILLED DUE TO THIS. I AM AN ENGINEER DEALING WITH PUBLIC SAFETY, AND I AM IN SHOCK CONCERNING GMC'S AND THE GOVERNMENT OVER STEP IN THIS DESIGN. PROBLEM PRESENTED AS ENGINE DYING AT STOP SIGNS AND PROGRESSED TO ENGINE MISS WITH RANDOM ENGINE STOP. WAS SENT TO SHOP 3 TIMES OVER A EIGHT WEEK PERIOD WITH NO RESOLUTION TO PROBLEM.
I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK NEW IN 4/2106 AND THERE IS A CLICKING SOUND WHEN ENGINE IS RUNNING. IS THIS NORMAL?
2015 GMC SIERRA HAS A DELAY THROTTLE RESPONSE. DOES IT AT ALL SPEEDS AND FROM TAKE OFF. TOOK TO DEALER AND SERVICE ADVISOR PULLED TRUCK IN SHOP. GOT OUT AND SAID IT DOES HAVE A DELAY. THE RAN VIN NUMBER THROUGH GMC DATA BASE AND TOLD ME. MANUFACTURE SAID IT WAS A NORMAL THING. IT'S NOT NORMAL AND NEVER HAD A VEHICLE WITH A THROTTLE DELAY.
MADE 1 TRIP OUT OF STATE TO VISIT MY SON AND TO CARRY HIM A BEDROOM SUITE. I LIVE IN GA. AND HE LIVES IN TENN. WHEN I RETURNED I NOTICED FLUID UNDER THE TRUCK. CALLED DEALER IN BRUNSWICK GA. THEY SAID TO BRING THE TRUCK THEN. WHEN TRUCK WAS PUT ON RACK, FOUND ENGINE HEADS WERE FAULTY. HAD TO ORDER NEW HEADS, THEN HAD TO MACHINE HEADS WHEN ARRIVED. ALSO TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTED EXTREMELY HARD IN HILLS OF NORTH GA. TO THE POINT OF ENGINE RPM 4500. CONTACTED GMC COMPLAINT DEPT. BUT AS OF 6/2/15 NO HELP.
