2015 GMC Terrain Electrical System

The vehicle tends to not turn on unless I give it a boost. Battery is new and alternator is good It occurs twice to three times a day

I am writing to urgently request a safety recall for the GMC Terrain 2015 due to a critical issue with the lift gate mechanism, which may be both electrical and mechanical. Recently, while utilizing the lift gate for routine activities such as grocery shopping, a terrifying incident occurred that endangered the safety of my family members. Upon opening, the lift gate exhibited a concerning behavior, forcefully closing without warning or control, posing a severe risk of injury. Despite attempts to intervene, the gate continued its downward motion unabated, presenting a serious hazard of crushing limbs or causing incapacitating harm. In a frightening moment, one of my family members narrowly avoided a potentially catastrophic injury as the gate threatened to strike her right hand. While I sustained a minor injury to my arm, a superficial wound, the gravity of the situation cannot be understated. This dangerous malfunction persists, rendering the trunk unusable out of fear for the safety of myself and my loved ones. Given the potential for life-altering injuries, I implore you to take immediate action and initiate a recall for all GMC Terrain 2015 models affected by this defect. Not really sure if it is electrical but the Stabilitrak light came on and the car jerked and I could not go over 50 mph and that would be fine however when you are on a freeway and the speed limit is much greater you could cause and accident. I took the vehicle to a garage and they put it on there computer and reset it and it seemed to work OK until I again went on the freeway and the same thing happened. Again I took it back to the same garage and they recommended I take it to a GMC Dealer which I did and they could not find the problem either after spending around $600.00. I did take it to the GMC Dealer which the vehicle make is a GMC.The problem, to the best of my knowledge, started about April 2023.

INTELLILINK SYSTEM, ENTERTAINMENT CENTER, BACK UP CAMERA, USB CHARGING . ENTIRE SYSTEM FAILURE. BATTERY DRAINS WHEN PARKED FOR MORE THAN 2 DAYS.

I OWN A 2015 GMC TERRAIN. THE RADIO AND ALL OTHER FUNCTIONS RELATED TO THE TOUCH SCREEN HAVE FAILED RESULTING IN A BLACK SCREEN. THIS INCLUDES THE BACK UP CAMERA. THIS HAS ALSO CONTRIBUTED TO A MINOR ACCIDENT WHERE I BACK INTO A UTILITY POLE. GM STATES A NEW RADIO IS NECESSARY AT A COST OF $1287. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A VITAL PART OF THE VEHICLES OPERATION. WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR GM TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE? SOMEONE BACKING OVER A CHILD IN A DRIVEWAY? *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 GMC TERRAIN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO VANDEVERE CHEVROLET (LOCATED AT 1490 VERNON ODOM BLVD, AKRON, OH 44320, (330) 800-0230) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

POWER LIFT GATE WILL NOT OPEN. THE LIFT GATE WAS WORKING BUT WOULD NOT STAY IN THE UP POSITION. I HAD TO REPLACE THE LIFT GATE SUPPORT STRUT. AFTER REPLACING THE RIGHT STRUT THE GATE WOULD NOT OPEN USING THE KEY FOB, OR THE BOTTON INSIDE OF VEHICLE, NOR WILL IT LIFT WHEN USING THE BOTTON ON THE GATE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 GMC TERRAIN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RADIO AND BACK-UP CAMERA DID NOT WORK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GREEN BUICK GMC (563-484-5147, LOCATED AT 3210 E KIMBERLY RD, DAVENPORT, IA 52807) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIO UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE UNIT WAS ON BACKORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 53,000.

MY SCREEN WENT TOTALLY BLACK, I HAVE NO RADIO NO BACK UP CAMERAS. TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THEY THOUGHT IT WAS SCREEN. THE REPLACED THE SCREEN AND THE RADIO STILL WANT COME ON NOR THE BACK UP CAMERA. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT IS THE RADIO AND THEY ARE GOING TO CHARGE ME $2000.00 TO FIX IT. MY CAR IS A 2015 GMC TERRAIN DENALI WITH 43,000 MILES ON IT. IT HAS TO BE A FACTORY DEFECT FOR IT TO HAPPEN. MY CAR HAS NEVER HAD TO HAVE ANYTHING DONE TO IT EXCEPT OIL CHANGES. PLEASE HELP ME I CAN'T AFFORD THIS KIND OF MONEY. WHEN I STARTED IT ONE MORNING THAT'S WHEN THE SCREEN WAS BLACK WITH NO RADIO OR BACK UP CAMERAS.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE RECENTLY SELF-STARTED WHILE PARKED IN THE GARAGE. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.

THREE TIMES WHEN I WANT TO START THE CAR IT STARTS AND TURN OF AT THE TIME DRIVING BACKWARD TO GET OUT OF PARKING SPACE. ONE OF THE CASES WAS AT THE TIME I WANTED TO GO FORWARD

ON STAR NOT WORKING RED LIGHT ON COMPASS DOSE NOT WORK.

RADIO STOPPED FUNCTIONING ON AUGUST 26TH. THERE WAS NO VOLUME, I COULD NOT CHANGE THE STATIONS BY STEERING WHEEL OR TOUCH. THE BLUETOOTH WOULD NOT WORK. THE DASH LIGHTS WOULD NOT TURN OFF AND REMAINED ON THE ENTIRE EVENING. I CALLED GMC SUPPORT AND THEY SAID TO UNPLUG THE BATTERY, BUT I DID NOT DO SO AS I DIDNT WANT TO MESS ANYTHING UP. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO THE DEALERSHIP THE FOLLOWING DAY. I WAS TOLD THEY SEE THIS ISSUE OFTEN AND BY UNPLUGGING AND RESETTING THE BATTERY, IT WILL FIX THE ISSUE. PROBLEM RESOLVED. RADIO STOPPED FUNCTIONING AGAIN ON SEPTEMBER 2ND. SAME ISSUES AS ABOVE. TOOK THE CAR IN AND WAS TOLD THIS TIME THAT IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH ONSTAR AND THEY ARE WORKING ON A FIX. UNTIL THEY HAVE A PERMANENT SOLUTION, I WAS TOLD IF THE ISSUE HAPPENS AGAIN TO PRESS THE WHITE BUTTON ON MY REARVIEW MIRROR. PROBLEM RESOLVED. RADIO STOPPED FUNCTIONING AGAIN ON SEPTEMBER 3RD. PRESSED THE WHITE BUTTON ON THE REARVIEW MIRROR FOR OVER 20 MINUTES BEFORE THE RADIO STARTING FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AGAIN. PROBLEM RESOLVED. I CALLED GMC TO FILE A COMPLAINT ON SEPTEMBER 12 BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP GENERAL MANAGER HAD NOT RESPONDED TO ME. GMC CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND CONFIRMED THE ISSUE WAS INDEED RELATED TO THE ONSTAR COMPONENT AND THAT THERE IS NO FIX. GMC SAID THAT IT WAS PROBABLY NOT SAFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IF THE DASH LIGHTS STAYING ON ARE DRAINING THE BATTERY. THEY WENT AS FAR AS SAYING THEY COULD GET ME A LOANER CAR UNTIL MY ISSUE IS FIXED, BUT THERE IS NO ETA. WITH GMC SAYING IT'S NOT SAFE TO DRIVE WITH THAT ISSUE, I'M NOW NOT SURE WHAT TO DO WITH IT.
