Chronological view of owner reports
1) Wiring harness to the wireless charging pad on the center console that is wired through the door hinge. Shorts out when opening or closing center console. 2) Caused a fire that led to smoke and melted components inside center console hinge. Caused smoke and awful plastic burning smell while my kids and I were parked. I had just started the vehicle. My two kids and I had to jump and run from the vehicle. 3) No, but by many forums that dealers and mechanics are aware of this issue and charges you hundreds to fix it when it is MANUFACTURE ERROR. 4) This vehicle has been inspected many times. By all the other inspection laws Missouri has in place. How has it gotten passed many times with this known issue? 5)NO! This put mine and my kids life at risk. It is a known and wide issue yet no one takes this seriously. As it just affected me and my two children, I hope this is taken seriously. Hold manufactures responsible and dealers for selling vehicles with these known issues. Protect people.
Air intake stayed on after shutting vehicle off and locked. It seemed it was in auto start mode from the key fob. Now it is hesitating to go and struggling to switch gears. Local mechanic is unable to pinpoint issue. Will bring to GMC dealership next. The rear camera intermittently works. If you open and close it sometimes it will fix it. USB ports intermittently work. Both taillights had to be replaced due to intermittently going out. Both front heated seats only work on top.
Trailer Brake connection gives errors. Has been fixed multiple times with dealer with error still occurring
The problem initially started around August 19th when my daughter was driving the SUV. It started suddenly flashing multiple service problems ex trailer brake service, park assist service and stability track service. It started flashing them over and over every second and the engine would rev up then slow down which continued even after she was able to pull over and get it into park. It was terrifying for her. We had the vehicle towed to GMC. GMC felt the electrical problems were due to the fuse box so they replaced the entire fuse box and changed all the fuses. Last week, my daughter again was driving home on the highway and the vehicle started doing the same warning but also displayed several more warnings and the car was lurching forward and slowing down over and over again despite trying to maintain a safe speed. She was close to home and thankfully made it safely home. I drove the car the next morning a few miles to see what was going on and it started doing the same thing with alerts, servicing cycling through the dashboard and the speed and rpm kept revving up and slowing down, I could not maintain a steady slow speed as it seemed like the car was braking every few seconds so it kept lurching forward out of control. We had the car again towed to the same GMC. This time GMC changed out all the battery cables going to and from the batter itself. My husband picked up the car a few days later after being told the problem had been fixed. Within a couple miles of leaving the dealership (and thankfully before getting on the highway) the car started again with the lurching, revving and continuous flashing of a multitude of service alerts/failures. GMC had the car towed back to the service center where it has remained as they run more diagnostic tests. We are concerned that there is a serious electrical problem that they have been unable to figure out on this vehicle which has put each of us at serious safety risk when trying to drive it.
THE TAIL LIGHTS FLICKER AND SOMETIMES DON'T WORK AT ALL.
THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR WORKS INTERMEDIATELY. I CAN'T ALWAYS UNLOCK OR LOCK THE DOOR WITH THE KEY FOB AND THERE IS NOT A MANUAL ENTRY.
REAR TAILLIGHT DOES NOT WORK. SEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE, GM REFUSES TO FIX AND TRIES TO CHARGE $800 TO REPLACE WHOLE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY, AND THEY REPLACE WITH SAME FAULTY LIGHTS! FIX IT GMC, RIDICULOUS
BRAKE LIGHTS WILL INTERMITTENTLY STOP WORKING. NO CONSISTENCY TO WHEN THEY STOP WORKING OR WHEN THEY START AGAIN. MAJOR SAFTEY HAZARD. GMC KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT ARE CALLING IT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ISSUE, AND NOT FIXING VEHICLES OUTSIDE THEIR DESIGNATED TIME/MILEAGE BECAUSE THEY SAY IT IS NOT A SAFETY HAZARD...' IT IS!!!
THE REAR POWER LOCKS ARE INOPERATIVE AT TIMES- WHEN USING THE KEYLESS ENTRY AND THE MASTER SWITCH. OWNER IS HAVING TO REACH TO THE BACK SEAT TO OPEN THE BACK DOORS WITH THE BACK DOOR LOCKS TO ALLOW PASSENGERS (CHILDREN) OUT OF THE VEHICLE. IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION, THE BACK SEAT PASSENGERS ARE NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO GET OUT ON THEIR OWN, OR BE ABLE TO GET OUT QUICKLY WITH ASSISTANCE. THIS ALSO MAKES THE CHILD LOCK FUNCTION UNUSABLE AS THE BACK DOORS WOULD NEVER OPEN.
BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT TAIL LIGHTS DEFECTIVE DUE TO INTERNAL CRACKS IN THE CIRCUIT BOARD
DRIVER SIDE BRAKE LIGHT IS INTERMITTENTLY WORKING. HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THIS, SEEMS TO BE POOR DESIGN AND SHOULD BE RECALLED.
THE VEHICLE IS A 7 PASSENGER 2015 GMC YUKEN VEHICLE. BOTH REAR TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLIES HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $500.00 EACH. THE ENTIRE LIGHTING ASSEMBLY INCLUDING BRAKE LIGHT FAILED. THE OPERATOR IS NEVER MADE AWARE BY THE VEHICLE WARNING SYSTEM THAT THE VEHICLE'S BRAKE OR TAIL LIGHTS ARE NOT FUNCTIONING. THE ONLY WAY THE HAZARD IS IDENTIFIED IS IF ANOTHER OPERATOR NOTIFIES THE OWNER. BEING THAT THE VEHICLE IS A 7 PASSENGER AND USUALLY CARRYING CHILDREN ARE IN THE THIRD ROW THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. A REAR END COLLISION DUE TO NO LIGHTS OR BRAKE LIGHTS IS VERY POSSIBLE. I CONTACTED GMC AND THEY ARE AWARE OF THE LED LIGHTS FAILING HOWEVER DUE TO THE FACT THAT THERE IS NO RECALL THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR THE NEW LED LIGHTS. DOES IT HAVE TO TAKE A VEHICLE BEING REAR ENDED AND A CHILD INJURED OR KILLED TO HAVE THESE VEHICLES RECALLED? THIS ISSUE IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET, ONE HAS TO TYPE GMC LED LIGHT FAILURE AND THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE TAIL LIGHT FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKING TO WALKER BUICK GMC (1616 MACARTHUR DR, ALEXANDRIA, LA 71301 (318) 542-7481) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT PIG TAIL WIRING WAS CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NOT A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
HEADLIGHTS AND BRAKE LIGHTS QUIT WORKING
RIGHT REAR LED TAIL/BRAKE LIGHT STOPPED WORKING. NOT EASILY FIXABLE. DEALERS ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND MAKE YOU PAY $700+ A PIECE FOR A WHOLE NEW ASSEMBLY. THE ISSUE APPEARS TO BE A FAULTY CIRCUIT BOARD INSIDE. THIS SHOULD BE SOMETHING THAT CAN BE TAKEN APART AND FIXED EASILY OR GM SHOULD REPLACE IT FOR FREE.
WIRING TO RADIATOR FAN CAUGHT ON FIRE. I WAS DRIVING THE CAR WHEN I SMELLED SMOKE. WHEN I PULLED OVER SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE HOOD I OPENED THE HOOD AND THERE WAS OPEN FLAMES ON THE FAN WIRING WIRING.
REAR LED TAILLIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY FAIL DUE TO WEAK CIRCUIT BRIDGE DESIGN
REAR TAIL LIGHTS CUT IN AND OUT. WORK ON AND OFF AND HAVE FAULTY PARTS.
THE VEHICLE'S TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY ON BOTH THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGER'S SIDES ARE DEFECTIVE. THE SOLDER DOES NOT HOLD AND THE VEHICLE'S BRAKE LIGHTS AND RUNNING LIGHTS FAIL INTERMITTENTLY. THE DRIVER IS TOTALLY UNAWARE OF THIS MAJOR ISSUE THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE NOT WORKING. IN RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET THERE ARE NUMEROUS CUSTOMERS OF GMC'S YUKON'S AND DENALI'S WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAFETY PROBLEM. I REALIZED THE PROBLEM WHEN ANOTHER MOTORIST ALMOST STRUCK THE BACK OF MY VEHICLE BECAUSE THERE WERE NOT BRAKE LIGHTS AT ALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AND BOTH BRAKE LIGHTS FAILED. THE SIGNAL LIGHTS WILL STILL WORK.
2015 YUKON PASSENGER LED TAIL LIGHT HAS FAILED. VEHICLE IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD, AND IN ADDITION TO THE TAIL LIGHT FAILURE, HAVE HAD 3 AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM FAILURES TO DATE. I DON'T KNOW HOW LONG THE TAIL LIGHT HAS BEEN INOPERABLE AS THERE WAS NO WARNING OR INDICATOR TO NOTIFY THE DRIVER OF A TAIL LIGHT PROBLEM. I ONLY DISCOVERED THIS PROBLEM WHILE FOLLOWING MY WIFE IN ANOTHER VEHICLE AS SHE WAS DRIVING THE YUKON. LOOKING AT THE COMPLAINTS LODGED ON BOTH ISSUES, I'M BEGINNING TO SERIOUSLY QUESTION GM'S RELIABILITY AND WILLINGNESS TO STAND BEHIND THEIR VEHICLE AND PARTS. ALWAYS THOUGHT LEDS WERE MORE RELIABLE, BUT LOOKING AT THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS LODGED, MY ASSUMPTIONS ARE APPARENTLY WRONG. A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH ON YUKON TAIL LIGHT REPAIR ALSO SHOWS A COTTAGE INDUSTRY IN REPAIRING THESE LED TAIL LIGHTS HAS POPPED UP, WHICH INDICATES A SIGNIFICANT PROBLEM WITH THE DESIGN AND RELIABILITY OF THESE TAIL LIGHTS. IF THESE BUSINESSES ADVERTISE A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON THEIR REPAIRS, WHY CAN'T GM MAKE THE NECESSARY MODIFICATIONS TO THEIR TAIL LIGHTS TO IMPROVE THEIR RELIABILITY. ANY REASONABLE SEARCH SHOWS THE MAGNITUDE OF THIS ISSUE, SO WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM. WITH NO NOTIFICATION TO THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE OF A TAIL LIGHT ISSUE, THIS WOULD SEEM TO ME TO BE A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD THAT COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTS AND OR INJURIES/FATALITIES FROM ONE OR BOTH TAIL LIGHT FAILURES. IF LEDS ARE LESS RELIABLE THAN THE OLDER INCANDESCENT BULBS, THEN GO BACK TO THE OLDER STYLE BULBS THAT A VEHICLE OWNER CAN REPLACE FOR A FEW DOLLARS INSTEAD OF FORCING OWNERS TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP REPLACE THE TAIL LIGHTS EVERY FEW YEARS AT $600-$750 PER INSTANCE. VERY CONCERNING AND UNSAFE. GM NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE IMMEDIATELY.
HAD RIGHT BRAKE LIGHT REPLACED IN WARRANTY. THE LEFT REAR IS NOW OUT. THIS IS A DRIVING SAFETY ISSUE FM SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
THE REAR RIGHT TAIL LIGHT DON'T WORK PROPERLY HAS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM SOMETIMES WORK SOMETIME DON'T. DEALER TOLD ME CAN'T BE COVER UNDER WARRANTY, BECAUSE WAS EXPIRED. I'M AFRAID MAY BOTH TAIL LIGHT STOP WORKING AND GET REAR ENDED. GMC SHOULD DO SOMETHING, BECAUSE IS THEY PROBLEMS I SAW ON THOSE SUV
TAIL LIGHT LED STOPPED WORKING. CONNECTION FAILED
BRAKE LIGHTS TAIL LIGHTS QUIT WORKING
DEFECTIVE TAIL LIGHTS AND HEADLIGHTS.
