This has been going on for a while now, but it’s getting worse overtime. If I push on my brakes more than twice the brake pedal locks up and I have to push extremely hard to get my vehicle stopped.. luckily I have never been going fast and had to worry about this. This is normally when I am pulling into a parking spot or I am backing up that I have to tap on my brakes a few times. A couple of times I have bumped the pole in front of my parking spot due to not having brakes. I just put in a general date as to when they started to get worse.

Yukon break tail lamp problems. Brake lights work intermittently. Very dangerous! The break lights will work intermittently and then work. This was an issue with the 2016 models and GM issues a recall. There is no recall for 2017 which I don't understand because nothing has changed with the manufacturing process. I researched and there is a class action but in California only.

Brake pedal gets hard and will not allow vehicle to stop. Intermittent issue, but caused vehicle to hit gate. Same situation occurred later that same week and vehicle almost rolled through major highway crossing.

The pump in the power-assist brakes puts out less vacuum power than needed, increasing stopping distance and the risk of a crash. My car rolls and doesn't stop. I have new brakes so this is unacceptable!!

At low idle speeds like in a parking lot we almost hit another car because the brakes were very hard to press. No power brakes. Felt as I was having to stand on the brake pedal with both feet to stop my vehicle from hitting another car at a grocery store parking lot going 5 mph! A light flashes on and says”service brake assist “ light goes away and drives normal and brakes normal except when you get to a stop sign, or traffic light. At parking lot speeds, there have been many incedents of brake failure, when pressing pedal to stop pedal pulsates and becomes very hard to stop the yukon. there seems to be a vacume or booster issue. Yukon will be fine for days then reaccure when slowing at stop sign or waitng at red light and moving foward in slow traffic to sign or llight and then in happens again. scary and unreliable when using brakes at low speed intersections or continous stop and go's

Driving down the highway and brake pedal became hard to push down almost causing us to wreck. Keep seeing there was a recall for the brake vacuum pump and also brake assist warning came on. Also when driving low speed like in parking lot it takes a while for vehicle to come to a complete stop

AFTER A 7 HOUR DRIVE ON FREEWAY BRAKES FAILED TO STOP VEHICLE. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO REPAIR SHOP FOR A COMPLETE BRAKE JOB FOR $1800.00. VEHICLE SEEMED TO BE FIXED SO DROVE IT BACK HOME ANOTHER 7 HOURS AND THE EXACT SOME PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE PARKING IN MY GARAGE.

-Back brake light system failure. -Safety of a rearend accident compromised when tail light does not work properly. -Yes, a repair shop confirmed the $975 unit needs to be replaced and is on back order for one month putting our safety at risk. -No warning has appeared. A person behind me reported it to me.

IRREGULARITIES WHEN BRAKE IS PUSHED AT LOW SPEEDS. CAN FEEL VARIOUS ISSUES SUCH AS VIBRATING BRAKE PEDAL, STUTTERING NOISE, LOSS IN PRESSURE OF BRAKES AND NEEDING EXCESSIVE PRESSURE ON BRAKES TO STOP VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED 2-3 TIMES NOW, ONCE IN A PARKING LOT, IN A DRIVE THRU AND WHEN PULLING OUT/IN THE GARAGE.

THE BRAKES STOP WORKING. BRAKE ASSIST COMES ON. WHEN I PRESS THE BRAKES YOU CAN FEEL THE PUMP IS NOT WORKING AT ALL. THIS IS HAPPENING AT SLOW SPEEDS MOSTLY IN PARKING LOTS BUT IN FEAR OF IT HAPPENING WHEN GOING FASTER. WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE BRAKES SHUTTERED AND THEY WOULDN'T HARDLY WORK. ALMOST COULDN'T GET THE VEHICLE STOPPED. A WARNING ON MY DASH SAID "SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST." THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED IN CANADA BUT NON HERE FOR MY VEHICLE SO FAR. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SAFETY HAZARD THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. GMC NEEDS TO ESTABLISH A RECALL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

AFTER SENDING MY SUV FOR THE BRAKE RECALL(THE BRAKES ACTUALLY FAILED WHILE I WAS DRIVING) LAST MONTH, MY BRAKES FAILED AGAIN WHILE DRIVING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, ON WEDNESDAY 8/19 -ON MY WAY TO WORK.. I DROVE STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP. BASICALLY HAVING TO HARD PUSH THE BRAKES ON CITY STREETS STOP LIGHTS ETC. SCARY. YESTERDAY, 8/20 THEY TOLD ME THE CAR WAS FIXED. ON MY WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP 30 MIN AWAY, THEY TELL ME AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THAT BRAKE INDICATION CAME ON THE SCREEN AND THEY WILL NEED TO KEEP IT FOR MY SAFETY. AS OF NOW NO WORD ON IT BEING CORRECTED, AND QUITE HONESTLY NOT FEELING SAFE ABOUT DIVING THE CAR.

WAS IN SCHOOL CAR LINE, WENT TO MOVE FORWARD A LITTLE AND BRAKES DIDNT WORK PROPERLY. ALMOST HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. GO STRAIGHT TO A DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY TELL ME ABOUT THE RECALL. SCHEDULE THE FIX, THIS MORNING WHEN I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP I DISCOVER THE RECALL DIDNT FIX MY ISSUE. LEARN THAT I NEED A VACCUUM PUMP REPLACEMENT. I AM UPSET THAT I AM SUPPOSE TO PAY $500 FOR A FAULTY VACCUUM PUMP AND RISK MY LIFE, THE KIDS LIVES AND PEOPLE'S LIVE AROUND ME UNTIL I CAN AFFORD THIS REPAIR WHEN IT IS FAULTY IN THE FIRST PLACE.

ALSO, THE SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BLAKE FULENWIDER DODGE (LOCATED AT 1310 E MAIN ST, EASTLAND, TX 76448, (254) 488-429) WHERE IT WAS SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V645000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) ON OCTOBER 18, 2019. AFTER THE CONTACT LEFT THE DEALER, AND WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE JERKED FORWARD. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,700. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT A MODE FOR THE BRAKES WAS SWITCHED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,698.

I HIT A CAR IN FRONT OF ME TWO DAYS AGO AFTER WAITING AT A RED LIGHT, STARTING TO ROLL BECAUSE THEY ROLLED, THEN THEY STOPPED, AND I HIT THE BREAK AND NOTHING HAPPENED. MY HUSBAND HAS TAKEN THE CAR MULTIPLE TIMES TO BE LOOKED AT FOR THE BREAKS NOT WORKING FOR AT LEAST 6 MONTHS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT RECEIVED THREE DIFFERENT LETTERS FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE LETTER SENT IN APRIL OF 2019 STATED THAT THEY WERE EXTENDING THE WARRANTY COVERAGE. THE LETTER SENT IN SEPTEMBER OF 2019 MENTIONED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V645000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE THIRD LETTER SENT IN NOVEMBER OF 2019 INDICATED THAT THE ISSUE WAS NOT A RECALL AND THEY WERE EXTENDING THE WARRANTY AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WINEGARDNER GMC BUICK OF PRINCE FREDERICK (935 SOLOMONS ISLAND RD N, PRINCE FREDERICK, MD 20678, (443) 295-6182) WHERE THE EBCM MODULE WAS REPROGRAMMED ONLY FOR THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM. THE VACUUM PUMP SYSTEM WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, BUT HAD NOT RESPONDED BACK TO THE CONTACT'S INQUIRIES. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.

MY HUSBAND AND I WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH WHEN HE NEEDED TO SLOW DOWN AND NOTICED THE BRAKES ON THE YUKON WERE NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. MORE SPECIFICALLY, THE BRAKES WOULD NOT FUNCTION THE FIRST 3-4 TIMES WHEN THEY WERE APPLIED OR TAPPED, BUT THEREAFTER THE BRAKES WOULD BECOME HARD AND HE HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AS HARD AS HE COULD BUT WITH LITTLE TO NO STOPPING ABILITY. THE 'BRAKE ASSIST' LIGHT CAME ON. HAD WE BEEN IN ANY TRAFFIC OR ON A SHORTER ROAD, WE WOULD HAVE SURELY CRASHED INTO SOMEONE AND IT COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC CONSIDERING WE LIVE IN DALLAS WHERE THERE IS A LOT OF TRAFFIC. THIS DAY WE WERE VERY LUCKY! GM HAD ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN #PIT5361B WHICH AFFECTED MULTIPLE YEARS AND CLASSES OF VEHICLES TO INCLUDE THE 2015 YUKON. GM ACKNOWLEDGED THAT 'A CUSTOMER MAY COMMENT ON A HARD BRAKE PEDAL OR THAT INCREASED EFFORT IS NEEDED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL.' AS EVIDENCE OF THE DEFECT, GM NOTIFIED ITS DEALERS, 'WHILE PERFORMING NORMAL DIAGNOSTICS, FLUID MAY BE FOUND IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND/OR THE BOOSTER VACUUM LINE.' HOWEVER, WE CALLED MULTIPLE DEALERSHIPS WITHIN THE DFW AREA AND THEY ALL DENIED KNOWING ANY ISSUE WITH GM BRAKES FAILING OR THE VACUUM PUMP. INTERESTINGLY, THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ON THIS VERY ISSUE AND GM ALSO ISSUED A SERIES OF SERVICE BULLETINS TO ITS DEALERS REGARDING THE BRAKE DEFECT, WITH THE LATEST BULLETIN DATED MARCH 15, 2017, TO INCLUDE THE 2015-2016 YUKON. OURS IS JUST A 2017, 1 YEAR OUTSIDE OF THAT. WHO IS TO SAY THIS YEAR ISN'T AFFECTED CONSIDERING PAST HISTORY OF THE BULLETINS. IT WAS THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY AND NO DEALERSHIP COULD EVEN GET TO IT BESIDES NOT KNOWING OF ANY 'ISSUE', EVEN THOUGH IT'S ALL OVER THE INTERNET.

WHILE COMING TO TRAFFIC LIGHTS TO MAKE A STOP THE VEHICLE'S BRAKE PEDAL BEGINS TO GET HARDER AND HARDER TO PRESS WHILE LOSING THE ABILITY TO STOP THE VEHICLE. WHILE ENTERING PARKING SPACES THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL GET EXTREMELY HARD AND LOSE ALMOST ALL STOPPING POWER. THIS HAPPENED A NUMBER OF TIMES IN ONE DAY RESULTING IN A NEAR REAR-ENDING OF ANOTHER VEHICLE AS WELL AS HITTING A CURB WHICH STOPPED US FROM ENTERING THE FRONT WINDOW OF A RETAIL ESTABLISHMENT.
