THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEED WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL ENGAGED THE VEHICLE JERKED VIOLENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 77,000.

WHEN TRYING TO BRAKE, MY CAR SHAKES AND SHIMMIES AS IF IT IS STOPPING ON A COBBLESTONE ROAD--WORSE WHEN TRYING TO BRAKE WHEN GOING DOWNHILL OR AT HIGHER SPEEDS. THIS MINIMIZES MY CONTROL AS MY STEERING COLUMN BEGINS TO SHAKE AND I HAVE TO "PUMP" THE BRAKES TO A COMPLETE STOP. I REPLACED THE BRAKES AT ABOUT 3,000 MILES AND HAVE TO KEEP REPLACING THEM AS IT GETS WORSE AND WORSE. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND HE SAID THAT MY BRAKE PADS ARE FINE AND CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT THE ISSUE IS. *TR

THIS STARTED WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2005 AND CONTINUES TODAY (2011). I DON'T DRIVE THE CAR OFTEN FOR SEVERAL REASONS, ONE BEING A CONSTANT PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGHER SPEEDS, THE WHEEL HAS ALWAYS STUTTERED. WHEN ON A STEEP HILL, THE BREAKS HAVE NEVER HALTED THE CAR COMPLETELY. I HAVE TO MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO CARS CROSSING IN FRONT OF ME WHEN ON A STEEP HILL. THE BRAKES ARE TERRIBLE IF I'M IN A PLACE WHERE THERE IS SNOW. I CAN'T EVEN DRIVE IT IN SNOW OR WHERE THERE IS A LOT OF RAIN. THE TIRES ARE VERY GOOD AND ALL TERRAIN, SO IT ISN'T THAT. I HAVE THE BRAKES INSPECTED ALL OF THE TIME AND THEY'RE ONLY SLIGHTLY USED. I HAVE TIRES ROTATED AND ALIGNED ON A REGULAR BASIS. BUT HALF OF THE TIME THE BRAKES GRIND. EVEN AFTER INSPECTION AT THREE DIFFERENT HONDA DEALERSHIPS, NOBODY CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG. I WROTE TO HONDA ABOUT THIS AND SEVERAL OTHER PROBLEMS, BUT THEY DIDN'T EVEN RESPOND, LET ALONE REMEDY THE PROBLEM. I FEEL THE CAR IS DANGEROUS AND I USE IT AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE IN PERFECT WEATHER CONDITIONS AND ON FLAT ROADS. IT'S SAD THAT HONDA TAKES NO RESPONSIBILITY. I HAD ONLY GOTTEN HONDAS IN THE PAST BECAUSE OF REPUTATION AND RELIABILITY. I WILL BE BUYING ANOTHER "BRAND" FROM HERE ON OUT. I USED TO LIVE IN CALIFORNIA AND NOW LIVE IN NEW MEXICO. I OWN A 2005 HONDA ACCORD HYBRID AND EVERY WINTER (MN) AT LEAST 6 -10 TIMES A YEAR THE BRAKES DO NOT WORK. THE POWER BRAKING SYSTEM SIMPLY DOESN'T WORK. IT TAKES EVERY BIT OF STRENGTH IN MY LEGS TO APPLY THE BRAKES, AND IT IS STILL QUITE HARD TO COME TO COMPLETE STOP. SEEMS AS IF THE COLDER IT IS, THE WORSE AND MORE FREQUENT THIS HAPPENS. NO ONE CAN GIVE ME AN ANSWER AS TO WHY IT HAPPENS OR HOW TO FIX IT. HOWEVER, THEY SAY JUST WARM THE CAR UP FIRST. WE HAVE WARMED OUR CAR UP, KEPT IN THE GARAGE AND AFTER 25 MINUTES OF DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, CAR WARM, SO THING CAN HAPPEN AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT. *TR

THE CAR JERKS WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE FRONT OF VEHICLE VIBRATES ANYTIME THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED AT SPEEDS ABOVE 40 MPH. THERE IS A CATCH AND RELEASE FEELING SPEEDS BELOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE TURNED AT FIRST 17,000 MILES OF OWNERSHIP. AS OF TODAY 8/8/2010, WHEELS HAVE NOT BEEN TURNED AND SAME VIBRATION EXISTS. *TR

I AM NOT ONE TO BE AFFECTED BY HYPE NOR HYSTERIA, BUT I DO HAVE SOME SERIOUS CONCERNS ABOUT THE BRAKES ON THE 2005 HONDA ACCORD HYBRID. WHEN DRIVING OVER ROUGH SURFACES OR SLICK (DUE TO ICE OR SNOW) ROADS THE 2005 HONDA ACCORD HYBRID HAS A DELAY IN BRAKING RESPONSE. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WHERE I HAVE ALMOST REAR-ENDED A CAR IN FRONT OF ME BECAUSE OF POOR BRAKING RESPONSE/PERFORMANCE. I HAVE WONDERED FOR QUITE SOME TIME IF THIS WAS DUE TO THE REGENERATIVE BRAKING INTERFERING WITH THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM. THE RECENT EVENTS WITH CERTAIN TOYOTA MODELS HAVE CAUSED ME CONTEMPLATE WHETHER THERE'S AN INHERENT PROBLEM WITH REGENERATIVE BRAKING SYSTEMS AS A WHOLE. HONDA HAS NOT YET ISSUED A RECALL REGARDING THIS PROBLEM, BUT WHEN I WAS AT MY LAST ROUTINE SERVICE APPOINTMENT, MY SERVICE AGENT TOLD ME THAT OTHER 2005 HONDA ACCORD HYBRIDS HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THEIR BRAKING SYSTEMS. THEY OFFERED TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT THE REPAIR WAS OVER $1,800 - A PRICE I COULD NOT AFFORD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE SHE WAS THEN INFORMED THAT THE CALIPERS AND ROTORS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,219 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 48,539.

THE ENTIRE BRAKE SYSTEM HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND RECEIVED A CASE NUMBER BUT WAS OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 39,700. I WAS TRAVELING EAST ON I-195. I SAW THAT A POLICE OFFICER HAD A VEHICLE PULLED OVER ON THE RIGHT. I MOVED OVER TO THE LEFT LANE. WHEN I DID, I CROSSED ONTO THE RUMBLE STRIP ON THE LEFT OF THE HIGHWAY. I APPLIED THE BRAKES WHILE ON THE RUMBLE STRIP AND NOTHING HAPPENED. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE WILDLY. I TRIED TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK UNDER CONTROL. MY HUSBAND PULLED THE EMERGENCY BRAKES. INSTEAD OF SLOWING US DOWN; THE VEHICLE WENT OUT OF CONTROL. I CLEARLY REMEMBER THE LAST MOMENTS SCREAMING BRAKES! BRAKES! WE THEN WENT SIDEWAYS BEFORE GOING ACROSS THE GRASS MEDIAN INTO OPPOSING TRAFFIC. WE WERE IMMEDIATELY STRUCK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BY A VEHICLE-TRAVELING WEST. MY HUSBAND TOOK THE FULL FORCE OF THE IMPACT AND WAS KILLED INSTANTLY. I WENT INTO A COMA. I WAS AIRLIFTED TO TEXAS NEURO REHAB IN AUSTIN FROM CAPITAL HEALTH HAMILTON, NJ. NOW I AM PERMANENTLY DISABLED. NOT A MOMENT IN MY LIFE HAS GONE BY SINCE THAT DAY WITHOUT THINKING OF MY HUSBAND AND WHAT HAPPENED TO US. I REMAINED IN A COMA UNTIL OCT, 2005 I WOKE UP IN TX. I HAVE PERMANENTLY LOST MY ABILITY TO WALK, TALK, OR WRITE NORMALLY. HONDA ISSUED A RECALL IN 2005. I RECEIVED IT AFTER THE ACCIDENT. I NEVER GAVE UP HOPE OF FINDING THE TRUE CAUSE. RECENT PROBLEMS WITH OTHER HYBRID VEHICLES WERE EXPOSED. I CONTINUED LOOKING ON THE WEB FOR HONDA OWNERS WITH SIMILAR COMPLAINTS, AND HAVE FOUND MANY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL IN AN ATTEMPT TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE BRAKES EXHIBITED SIGNS OF FAILURE AND FELL INTO THE FLOOR BOARD. THE BRAKE PEDAL DID NOT RETURN TO THE IDLE POSITION. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND STATED THAT THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER WAS DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. ONE MONTH LATER, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE EXACT SAME FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE FAILURE WAS MORE PROMINENT IN COLD WEATHER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE BRAKE CANISTER AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 118,000.

2005 HONDA ACCORD NEEDS ITS SECOND BRAKE JOB. FIRST BRAKE JOB AT 30,000 AND NOW 2ND AT 60,000. HONDA STATES THEY ARE WARPING THE FRONT END TO HEAT TO SUCH A DEGREE THAT IS WARPING MY BRAKES AND PUTTING ME AN D MY FAMILY AT RISK? WHAT IS CAUSING, I DON'T LIVE IN AN AREA WHERE I RIDE MY BRAKES, THERE ARE NO HILLS, I'VE LESS THAN 4 MILES FROM WHERE I WORK. THEY SUGGEST RESURFACING AND REPLACING THE PADS FOR THE SECOND TIME. AT 12K REPORTED A BRAKE PROBLEM. DEALER COULD NOT IDENTIFY CAUSE AND TURNED ROTORS FRONT AND REAR AND REPLACED THE PADS. AT APPROXIMATELY 24K, SAME ISSUE AGAIN. DEALER COULD NOT IDENTIFY CAUSE AND REPLACED PADS FRONT AND REAR AND TURNED ROTORS. THE SHAKE AND VIBRATION RETURNED AT JUST PAST THE 36K WARRANTY PERIOD. CAR IS NOW AT 49K, LEFT REAR BRAKE IS WORN OUT AND THE ROTOR IS BADLY SCORED. HONDA REFUSED TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER FACTORY ASSISTANCE AND STATED IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY AT THIS POINT. IT IS MY CONTENTION THAT THE CAR HAS HAD A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE BRAKE SYSTEM SINCE NEW AND HONDA THROUGH IT'S DEALER HAS NOT TAKEN THE PROPER STEPS TO IDENTIFY THE ISSUE AND CORRECT IT, RATHER PERFORMED A BANDAID FIX AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING AT 10 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN THE BRAKES LOCKED WHILE BEING DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE SLID INTO A DITCH AND STRUCK A SMALL GUM TREE. THE MIDDLE PORTION ON THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. THE BODY SHOP REPAIRED THE VEHICLE, AND THE SENSORS SHOWED THAT THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE SENSORS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 39,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000. *AK

I WAS TEST DRIVING A BRAND NEW 2005 HONDA ACCORD LX MODEL. DURING THE TEST DRIVE, WHILE APPROACHING A TRAFFIC SIGNAL THAT WAS ABOUT TO TURN RED, I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT THE CAR DID NOT RESPOND. I CONTINUED TO DEPRESS THE PEDAL, WITH NO RESPONSE. BECAUSE OF THIS I WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP AND STRUCK ANOTHER CAR IN THE INTERSECTION. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT TO ENSURE THE DEALERSHIP ENSURES THIS PROBLEM IS INVESTIGATED.
