CONSUMERS VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN 99I-002 TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE CABLE WHICH CAUSES THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO FEEL ROUGH, WHEN CONSUMER CONTACTED DEALER FOR REPAIR HE WAS DENIED SERVICES. NLM
WHEN PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE OVER THE CURB. THE CAR CONTINUED ACCELERATING HITTING A FENCE AND A TREE BEFORE RETURNING TO THE PARKING LOT. THE VEHICLE STOPPED ONLY WHEN EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ENGAGED. DURING THE INCIDENT ALL SYSTEMS IN THE CAR APPEARED TO BE INEFFECTIVE INCLUDING BRAKING SYSTEMS. THE BEST ANALOGY IS TO THAT OF AN AMUSEMENT PARK RIDE. THERE WERE NO MECHANICAL DEFECTS FOUND WITH THE CAR AFTERWARDS. THE CAR WAS RECALLED PREVIOUSLY FOR FLOOR MAT/ACCELERATOR PROBLEMS AND WAS FIXED ACCORDING TO HONDA'S SPECIFICATIONS. THIS ACCIDENT OCCURED WELL AFTER THESE ALTERATIONS WERE MADE.*AK
WHILE DRIVIN VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCLERATED AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN VEHICLE. OCCUPANT HAD TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. ONLY ONE OCCURRENCE. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
VEHICLE EXPERIENCING PROBLEM WITH SPEED CONTROL WHICH CAUSES VEHICLE TO SLOW DOWN TO 4-6 MPH WHEN ENGAGED. DEALER/MANUFACTURER NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THIS CONDITION WAS NORMAL. SEEKING HELP FROM NHTSA IN THIS MATTER, OWNER BELIEVES THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. *AK *ML

AFTER VEHICLE STARTED RUNNING ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK TO THE FLOOR, CAUSING VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE TO SPEEDS OVER 100 MPH. WITH BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKES, DRIVER PUT VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL WHILE PULLING OVER TO THE SHOULDER SAFELY. THE DEALER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. *AK
VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AT A VERY HIGH SPEED BECAUSE OF THE GAS PEDAL GETTING STUCK TO THE FLOOR. CONSUMER HAD TO KEEP HITTING THE PEDAL UNTIL IT EVENTUALY RELEASED. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
GAS PEDAL GETS STUCK UNDER THE FLOOR MAT DURING APPLICATION. DEALER REFUSES TO REPLACE THE MATS. **AK
VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATES TO 4000 TO 5000 RPMS WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE THAN HAS TO BE PUT IN NEUTRAL IN ORDER TO STOP. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
EXPERIENCED REPETITIVE POWER SURGES WHILE ACCELERATING IN 1ST AND 2ND GEARS BETWEEN 2400 AND 4000 RPM.
WHILE MERGING INTO TRAFFIC, THE ACCELERATOR STUCK FLAT TO THE FLOOR CAUSING VEHICLE TO SUDDENLY ACCELERATE; THE BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND.
