2014 HONDA CR-V. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO DEFECTIVE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR.

The contact owns a 2014 Honda CR-V equipped with Cooper Tires, Tire Line: Evolution Tour, Tire Size: 225/65R/17, DOT Number: (Not Available). The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle began to violently shake and vibrate. After stopping to inspect the vehicle, it was discovered that the side wall steel belts had separated on all four tires. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who replaced the four defective tires. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000. The contact stated that the vehicle was driven, not towed, to the local dealer.

We have had 3 Yokohama Geolander CV GO58 tires fail over the course of two months. Two were from the purchase in 2020, one was a replacement for one of the 2020 tires that failed in July 2022. One just failed this evening, August 17, 2022. The tires are not just deflating, they are shredding with little advance notice. The tire pressure gauge comes one and within moments the tires begins to shred. The size of the tire is 215 70 16. My daughter is driving this vehicle in Dallas, Texas and we are concerned that these tires are bad.

DRIVING CLEAR WEATHER, VERY GOOD STREET CONDITION, GOING 50 MILES PER HOUR PULLED TO ALMOST A FULL STOP FOR A LIGHT SIGNAL AND THEN HEARD A LOUD POPPING NOISE. MOVED FORWARD AND FELT TIRE WAS FLAT. PILLED OVER AND OBSERVED THE SIDE OF THE TIRE BLEW OUT. 2014, HONDA CRV PURCHASED BRAND NEW. MILES ON THE VEHICLES 13,485. NO WEAR ON ALL TIRES VISIBLE. TIRE JUST BLEW UP AND APPEARS LIKE A DEFECT SINCE THERE WAS NO TIRE DAMAGE. TIRE PRESSURE WAS AT PROPER PSI.

I HAVE A 2014 HONDA CRV WITH 21,751 MILES. I ALWAYS HAVE HAD SERVICE BY HONDA REGULARLY AND NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS. I WAS NOT DUE FOR SERVICE FOR ANOTHER MONTH WHEN I HAD A FLAT TIRE DUE TO A NAIL. I WENT TO GET THE TIRE FIXED WHEN I WAS TOLD BY THE TIRE DEALER THAT ALL 4 TIRES WERE DRY ROTTED. I WAS SKEPTICAL BECAUSE THE CAR WAS JUST 2 YEARS OLD ON OCT. 30, 2015. I TOOK IT TO A FRIEND WHO IS A MECHANIC AND ASKED HIM ABOUT "PLUGGING" MY TIRE JUST TO SEE IF HE WOULD SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THE TIRES BEING DRY ROTTED. HE TOOK THE TIRE OFF AND KEPT EXAMINING IT, THEN STARTED LOOKING AT THE OTHER TIRES THEN HE SAID ALL FOUR TIRES HAVE DRY ROT. HE SUGGESTED 4 NEW TIRES AND HE DOES NOT SELL TIRES. I CALLED THE HONDA DEALER BUT HE DID NOT GET BACK TO ME UNTIL LATER THAT DAY. I CALLED CONTINENTAL AND WAS DIRECTED TO ONE OF THEIR DEALERS. I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT A BIG DEAL AND THEY WOULD ONLY PRO RATE THE TIRES NOT REPLACE THEM FOR FREE. I TOLD CONTINENTAL WHY WOULD I WANT THE SAME TIRES ON MY CAR AGAIN? I PURCHASED MY 2014 HONDA CRV AWD BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALER AND WITHIN ONE WEEK OF THE SALE I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SEVICE DUE TO SEVERE VIBRATIONS THROUGOUT THE VEHICLE WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF 55 MPHBOR HIGHER. I STARTED BRINGING MY 2014 HONDA CR-V TO NARDY HONDA ON APRIL 12, 2014 BECAUSE THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT WAS ON, ON APRIL 12TH THEY TOLD ME IT MAY NEED TO HAVE THE SOFTWARE UPDATED, HOWEVER AFTER HONDA MECHANICS SEEING THE CAR THEY DETERMINED IT WAS THE LATEST SOFTWARE AND NEEDED NO UPDATE. THEY SET THE TIRE PRESSURE AND RESET THE SYSTEMS DETERMINING THERE WERE NO LEEKS IN ANY OF THE TIRES. ON MAY 28TH IT CAME ON AGAIN, THEY SAID 1500 SEE TECH NOTES-TOPPED OFF AIR PRESSURE AND CALIBRATED TPMS ALL OK. ON MAY 30TH THEY SAID THEY UNINSTALLED THE SOFTWARE, RE CALIBRATED THE TIRES AND SET THEM BACK TO FACTORY SETTINGS. JUNE 14, 2014 AND THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AGAIN. WHEN THE TIRES WERE CHECKED TODAY THEY ALL HAD THE EXACT AMOUNT OF AIR. THERE WAS NO FLATS OR LOSS OF AIR. NOW THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN BACK FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE ON ALL THE FOLLOWING DATES: APRIL 12, 2014, MAY 28, 2014, JUNE 16, 2014, OCTOBER 24, 2014 CALLED HONDA CORPORATE TO REPORT PROBLEM AND SEE IF I COULD GET SOME HELP, DECEMBER 5, 2014 THEY CLAIM TO HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR GOOD AND TODAY JANUARY 5, 2015 LIGHT CAME BACK ON. THE TPMS ICON (LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING) ON NEW HONDA CR-V (2014) COMES ON ABOUT EVERY 30-50 MILES EVEN THOUGH, WHEN I CHECK THE TIRE PRESSURES, THEY ARE ALL WITHIN 0.5 PSI OF THE RECOMMENDED (30 PSI) SETTINGS. IN SHORT, THE TPMS IS GIVING FALSE WARNINGS THUS MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO RELY ON. OTHER HONDA CRV OWNERS, HAVING THE SAME FLAW, HAVE GIVEN UP ON THE WARNING AS HAD TIRE BLOWOUTS ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AND HE SIMPLY RESETS THE TPMS WARNING ICON ---- AND, AS SOON AS I DRIVE 30 MILES OR SO THE IDIOT LIGHT COMES ON. THE PURPOSE OF MANDATING THE TPMS WARNING WAS TO SAVE LIVES BUT, IF THE ICON PROVIDES FALSE WARNINGS THEY WILL BE IGNORED AND BLOWOUTS CAN HAPPEN. I PURCHASED BRAND NEW HONDA CR-V 2014 IN OCT 2013 AND WITH IN TWO WEEKS I SEE A TPMS LIGHT ON AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, ASKED THEM CAR WAS NOT EVEN A MONTH OLD AND MILEAGE WAS AROUND 450 AND I GOT MY TPMS LIGHT ON. THEY SAID SOME TIRE PRESSURE IS LOW AND NOT CORRECT AND MANUALLY SET THE TPMS LIGHT AND AFTER A WEEK'S TIME I GOT THE LIGHT AGAIN -TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THE SAME THING AND MANUALLY RESET THE TPMS AND CYCLE STARTED AGAIN - AFTER A WEEK I GOT THAT LIGHT ONCE MORE AND UNTIL NOW IT'S BEEN 8 TIMES I HAVE BEEN TO DEALER AND HE DON'T HAVE A GENUINE REASON AND KEEPS TELLING THIS IS COMMON FOR ALL 2014 CR-V'S. 2014 HONDA CR-V. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO A DEFECTIVE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER DRIVING OFF THE LOT, WITH HIS NEW VEHICLE, THE TPMS INDICATOR CAME ON. HE RETURNED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE SYSTEM WAS RESET. HOWEVER, THE NEXT DAY, THE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. AFTER SEVERAL TRIPS BACK AND FORTH TO THE DEALER TO FIX THE PROBLEM (TO NO AVAIL), HE WAS INFORMED THE CONDITION WAS A KNOWN DEFECT IN SOME MODELS AND HONDA ENGINEERS WERE AWARE OF IT. HONDA INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THEY WERE DILIGENTLY WORKING ON THE PROBLEM. SOMETIME IN MARCH, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A CALL FROM HONDA, ADVISING HIM THE PROBLEM WAS IDENTIFIED AND HE SHOULD RETURN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR A SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD. HOWEVER, THE FIX DID NOT WORK. *JB

WITHIN A MONTH OF MY PURCHASE OF NEW CRV 2014 EXL, THE TPMS LIGHT TURNED ON(NEAR CHRISTMAS TIME). I GOT IT CHECKED FROM THE HONDA SERVICE CENTER, AND THEY AT FIRST RESET THE TPMS LIGHT MANUALLY, AND ASKED ME TO COME BACK IF TPMS LIGHT TURNS ON. WHICH IT DID AFTER JUST 45 MILES. THEN THEY CONFIRMED HONDA WOULD BE ISSUING A SOFTWARE PATCH FOR THIS FIX. I RECHECKED IN JANUARY BUT STILL THERE WAS NO PATCH ISSUED. I WENT TO ANOTHER HONDA SERVICE CENTER, THINKING IT MIGHT BE A SERVICE CENTER ISSUE AND THERE TOO THEY TOLD ME THE SAME THING, THAT HONDA IS GOING TO ISSUE A PATCH. IN FEBRUARY WHEN I WENT FOR MY FIRST SERVICING THEY TOLD ME THE SAME THING. I CHECKED BACK AGAIN YESTERDAY, BUT STILL WITH NO LUCK. IS ANYONE EVEN WORKING ON. ITS NEARLY 5 MONTHS SINCE I FIRST REPORTED THIS, BUT IT HAS GONE TO DEAF EARS. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD, NOT KNOWING WHETHER THE LIGHT IS ON DUE TO A BUG OR REALLY TIRE PRESSURE IS LOW. EVERY TIME I ASK A SERVICE CENTER REPRESENTATIVE THEY WOULD ASK WHETHER I WAS DRIVING BAD OR PUTTING THEM IN CURB OR NOT, INSTEAD OF EVEN KNOWING THE PROBLEM EXIST. THEY WILL ASK ME TO COME THERE AT THE SERVICE CENTER, INVESTIGATE, RESET IT MANUALLY, AND TELL ME THE SAME THING HONDA IS GOING TO RELEASE A FIX FOR THIS ISSUE. THIS IS A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME. WE HAVE HAD IT IN THE HONDA DEALERSHIPS SERVICE DEPT 3 TIMES IN OAKLAND AND EACH TIME THEY RESET IT AND TELL US "HONDA IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE" AND IT IS A "SOFTWARE ISSUE" THAT IS BEING ADDRESSED. WE WERE TOLD WE WOULD GET A RECALL NOTICE AFTER THE FIRST OF THIS YEAR (2014). HONDA IS NOT DISCLOSING THE SAFETY ISSUE OF A PRODUCT THEY HAVE LABELED AS A SAFETY FEATURE. WENT BACK TO DEALER...REPEAT MULTIPLE TIMES. IN OCT DEALER SWAPPED OUT TIRES WITH ANOTHER SET THINKING IT MAY FIX THE PROBLEM. LIGHT BACK ON WITHIN 50 MILES. CAR BACK TO DEALER, THEY FIDDLED WITH IT A BIT, TEST DROVE IT OVER 100 MILES, NO LIGHT. I PICKED IT UP, LIGHT BACK ON BEFORE I ARRIVED HOME. COMPLAINED AGAIN. WAS TOLD "HONDA IS WORKING ON IT"....NOV/DEC JUST CONTINUED TO RESET LIGHT. STARTED TRACKING IT- USUALLY GOES ON WITHIN 1 MILE OF SAME PLACE ON FREEWAY, SPEEDS 45-57 MPH, 27-45 DEGREES. I BOUGHT MY NEW 2014 HONDA CRV DIRECT FROM DEALER. AFTER THREE DAYS I BROUGHT BACK THE CRV BECAUSE THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT WENT ON. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO DEALER AND SAID IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE COLD WEATHER.. THEY RESET THE GUIDE. OK FOR THE NEXT TWO DAYS, THEN IT WENT BACK ON AGAIN. I BROUGHT IT BACK AND WAS TOLD THAT HONDA WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THAT THEY WERE WORKING ON A FIX... THAT WAS BACK IN DECEMBER!!! THIS IS A BRAND NEW 2014!!! I ASKED THE SERVICE MAN TO WRITE THAT DOWN FOR ME, SO I HAVE IT ON RECORD. AS OF TODAY, JANUARY 30TH, MY LIGHT REMAINS ON. I WOULD LIKE TO ADD, THAT I HAD A FLAT TIRE AND WAS STUCK ON THE ROAD AT NIGHT...BECAUSE I DIDN'T PAY ATTENTION TO THE TIRE LIGHT ON MY DASHBOARD!!!!!!! I WANT THIS FIXED! I THOUGHT I WAS BUYING A SAFE RELIABLE CAR ..HONDA HAS A GOOD REPUTATION, ... SOMEONE DROPPED THE BALL, AND THE AMERICAN CONSUMER IS PAYING THE PRICE!!! PLS... PLS FIX THIS PROBLEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TPMS WAS CAUSING THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE RECURRINGLY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, WHO MADE AN ADJUSTMENT TO THE TPMS BUT DID NOT REMEDY THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND THE MANUFACTURER STATED THEY WOULD LOOK INTO IT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
