I was driving south on the Fl Turnpike when my vehicle shuts off,
At 57000 miles, our SUV suddenly displayed a warning of “emission control problem”. Within a few miles of that, the car displayed virtually every warning message it has… something in the range of 20 different alarms. The onboard computer showed the problem to be 1 cylinder running too lean. The fix was to replace the fuel injector on that cylinder, but Honda now only sells the injector in sets of 4 for their 4 cyl engines. I ended up paying $1438 to have all the injectors replaced in a car that is not even 5 yrs old. This follows the replacement of a faulty A/C compressor for $2200 a year ago when the car had around 45000 miles. These kinds of premature failures are more and more common in Honda’s , and it’s clear Honda is doing nothing to address the issues if a car is out of the 36k mile warranty. Outrageous!!!!
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while approaching a traffic light, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the engine to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that fuel was found inside the engine. The vehicle was not repaired due to parts not being available. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 116,600.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated after starting the vehicle, a knocking noise was heard coming from the engine compartment. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that there was fuel dilution in the engine oil and that the rod bearings needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle remained at the dealer awaiting the repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000.
I have a 2018 Honda CR-V touring , with a 1.5 turbo engine. It seems that as my oil usage (Mileage) increases, between oil changes, I have been losing Miles per Gallon. After an oil change my MPG is around 34 to 35 MPG. My car now is at 60% oil usage before an oil change is needed. I am due for an oil change now. The last oil change the mechanic noticed there was a thinning of the oil and the smell of gas in the oil was present, as well as the oil quantity was higher. We assumed the higher oil quantity is due to gas in the oil.
I am making this report because I am shocked that my Honda's CRV AC hose from compressor to condensor needed to be replaced. All of my AC leaked out from compressor. My Honda is a 2018 and it only has 60,000 freeway miles.I went online and saw that many other Honda CRV 2018 owners have had the same issue. Honda should have repaired it. It took almost a week to get it repaired. Difficulty finding the hoses. I called both my dealer and Honda Customer Support and they didn't offer any type of extended warranty for this.
The contact's father owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that on separate occasions while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake pads and the fuel injector needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact then stated that the same day while his father was driving, the vehicle stalled and was towed back to the dealer where it was then diagnosed that the software needed to be updated however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer where it remained. The vehicle was diagnosed and it was determined that the engine need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact left a voicemail however, there was no response. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 MPH and making a right turn, there was a squealing rattling sound coming from the engine compartment and the vehicle would not properly accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. The message check oil pressure was displayed. Upon inspection, the contact noticed an odor of fuel was present in the engine oil. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the engine and turbocharger were faulty and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer later determined that only the high-pressure fuel pump and lifter pump were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was 61,000.
Engine oil diluted. 2/8/2022 Engine oil was Diluted by 55mm. This happened within 400 miles of the last oil change. That's a lot of gasoline in the oil and oil viscosity is significantly decreased. All updates/recalls have been completed on the vehicle. The updates that are specific to this issue have been completed. Talking to Honda dealership, this is extremely unnormal and results in premature engine wear.
While traveling on I-95N my car started braking on its own, I was in the middle lane of I-95 North in Maryland traveling about 75 mph when the car started braking for no reason, all the indicator lights lit up on the dashboard, I had no idea what was going on but somehow safely made it to the shoulder without incident. I was informed today that it was an "engine failure" that caused my car to brake/stall; I inquired why there was no warning, when you need an oil change you get a warning, when your battery is dying you get a warning, when your tire pressure is low you get a warning, all things that do not require immediate attention but there is no warning when your engine is going to fail -- that does require immediate attention especially when you are traveling on I-95 north with trucks and cars traveling at speeds of 70-plus miles per hour.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact had the vehicle initially towed to her home where her son inspected the vehicle. The contact's son informed her that there was an issue with the engine and the vehicle needed to be towed to the dealer. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and was diagnosed with a defective cylinder head. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing a software glitch. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that there was sludge in the engine and the engine and turbo needed to be replaced. The DTC: P0299 was displayed regarding the turbo under boost. Additionally, there was an abnormally strong oil odor inside and outside the vehicle. The contact declined the repair. The engine oil was drained and refilled. The manufacturer was notified of the but no further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 69,000.

SINCE NEW, ENGINE INTERMITTENTLY STALLS FOR A SEVERAL SECONDS AND THEN RECOVERS WITH A BURST OF ACCELERATION. HAPPENS MAINLY AT INTERSECTIONS WHEN STOPPED OR ROLLING AT A VERY SLOW SPEED AND TURNING EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT. DEALER CANNOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, AND I CANNOT PURPOSELY DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AT WILL. HOWEVER, IT AVERAGES HAPPENING EVERY APPROXIMATELY ONCE PER WEEK. IT HAPPENED 4/2/2021, ON A HEAVY TRAFFIC LOOP AND CAUSED A FENDER BENDER ACCIDENT. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR ACCIDENT RESULTING IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. AFTER INVESTIGATION, I FIND ENGINE STALLING IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL HONDA.
I PURCHASED MY 2018 HONDA CR-V EX 2WD IN FLORIDA APRIL 2018. I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 15,000 MILES ON IT NOW. I TRAVEL THROUGH INDIANA AND OHIO DURING THE YEAR, INCLUDING WINTER MONTHS. I HAVE SMELLED GASOLINE FUMES IN THE CAR AND HAVE SMELLED GASOLINE IN THE OIL ESPECIALLY IN WINTER MONTHS WHEN I AM TRAVELING NORTH. I CALLED HONDA CORP ABOUT THE OIL DILUTION PROBLEM AND THE TSB 18-114 AND TSB 18-124 THAT WERE ADDRESSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT ONLY COVERS NORTHERN STATES. I EXPLAINED THAT I TRAVEL THROUGH NORTHERN STATES DURING THE YEAR AND HAVE EXPERIENCED GASOLINE FUMES IN THE CABIN AND ALSO IN THE OIL. THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT IN TO A DEALER WHEN I AM IN INDIANA AND OHIO DURING THE WINTER. THE PROBLEM WITH THAT IS I AM AT WORK AND UNABLE TO TAKE THE TIME OFF TO GO TO A DEALER, NOT UNTIL I GET HOME TO FLORIDA AND THEN THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE GONE. SO I AM ONLY REQUESTING THAT TSB 18-114 AND 18-124 BE APPLIED TO MY VEHICLE ALSO. THE "FIX" TO OIL DILUTION SHOULD NOT JUST BE APPLIED TO NORTHERN STATES WHEN MANY OF US TRAVEL THROUGH NORTHERN STATES IN THE WINTER. I AM GOING TO PURSUE THIS IF I DON'T HEAR BACK FROM HONDA CORP AFTER THEIR PREVIOUS CALL TO ME DID NOT DO ANYTHING TO ADDRESS MY PROBLEM. I JUST WANT THE TIB'S APPLIED TO MY VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE ABRUPTLY STALLED WITH THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SHOULDER, RESTARTED, AND THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL FUNCTIONALITY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MANSFIELD MOTOR GROUP (1493 PARK AVENUE W, ONTARIO, OH 44907, (888) 577-2689. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, HE BECAME AWARE THAT THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL WAS MUCH HIGHER THAN NORMAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS GASOLINE MIXED IN WITH THE ENGINE OIL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED OR INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000. IT WAS ALSO REVEALED THAT IN JANUARY 2019, HONDA SENT A RECALL TO ADJUST THE SOFTWARE AND MAKE A CHANGE IN THE AC UNIT AND THIS CAR HAD THAT DONE. HONDA ALSO EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THESE VEHICLES BY ONE YEAR. IT IS KNOWN THAT HONDA MADE ENGINE CHANGES IN THEIR 2019 MODESA. IT IS SPECULATED THAT THE INJECTOR SYSTEM IS CAUSING THE ISSUE IN THE 2017 AND 2018 CRV TURBO CHANGED ENGINE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HIS DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING UP HILL AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND STALLED WITH SEVERAL UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THELEN HONDA (1020 N. EUCLID AVE, BAY CITY, MI 48706, (989) 402-0532) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TURBO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
DILUTION OF THE ENGINE OIL WITH GASOLINE, CAUSING LEVEL TO RISE. SMELL OF GASOLINE OUTSIDE VEHICLE. DEALER SAYS HONDA TECHLINE TOLD THEM THIS IS NORMAL. MY VIN IS NOT PART OF HONDA'S EXTENDED WARRANTY AS AN ANSWER TO THIS ISSUE.
UNINTENDED ACCELERATION FROM STOP. WITH THE ENGINE AT NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE, TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE, AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC LIGHT, WHEN I REMOVE MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE ENGINE RPM INSTANTLY AND ABRUPTLY INCREASES FROM 700 RPM TO APPROXIMATELY 1000 RPM. THE VEHICLE MOVES AHEAD SUDDENLY WITH NO PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, AND CAN REACH A SPEED OF 7 MPH ON LEVEL PAVEMENT. THE SAME ACCELERATION OCCURS WHEN I AM MOVING VERY SLOWLY INTO A PARKING SPACE OR GARAGE AND MY FOOT IS PRESSING LIGHTLY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL -- THE ENGINE RPM INCREASES SUDDENLY AND THE VEHICLE "JUMPS" AHEAD, REQUIRING INCREASED PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO PREVENT ACCELERATION. I BELIEVE THAT THIS CONDITION CONSTITUTES A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE THE DRIVER DOES NOT EXPECT THE VEHICLE TO MOVE AHEAD WITH NO PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, AND THEREFORE THE VEHICLE COULD IMPACT THE VEHICLE AHEAD OF IT, A WALL OR PARKING BARRIER AHEAD OF IT, OR A PEDESTRIAN CROSSING IN FRONT OF IT. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO TWO HONDA DEALERS FOR THIS CONDITION (SEPTEMBER 25, 2020 AND MARCH 12, 2021). THE FIRST SERVICE REPORT STATED "SYSTEM SCAN FOUND NO DTCS, ROAD TESTED AND FOUND ALL NORMAL." THE REPORT FROM THE SECOND DEALER STATED "CHECK AND FOUND NORMAL/PROPER OPERATION." THIS CONDITION HAS EXISTED SINCE WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE (NEW) ON SEPTEMBER 18, 2018. I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT THIS CONDITION IS NOT NORMAL AND HAS THE DEFINITE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE, OTHER VEHICLES, PROPERTY, OR PEDESTRIANS. HONDA SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.
