TAKATA RECALL HONDA IS NOT RESOLVING MY ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION NEEDS WHILE THEY DEAL WITH THEIR RECALL ISSUES. THEY GAVE ME A ROUGH ESTIMATE OF 2019 FOR REPLACEMENT PARTS TO FIX MY EXPLOSIVE AIRBAG. I HAVE WAITED A WEEK NOW WITHOUT A PHONE CALL FROM THE DEPARTMENT I WAS INSTRUCTED TO CALL AND I AM NOT BEING ABLE TO SAFELY USE MY VEHICLE. THIS SITUATION IS NOW COSTING ME PERSONALLY ON MANY LEVELS, BOTH IN SAFETY AND FINANCIAL MEANS AS I CAN'T USE MY CAR. I AM ASKING THE GOVERNMENT FOR HELP BY FILING THIS COMPLAINT.
NHTSA RECALL 16V-344 REQUIRING REPLACEMENT OF THE AIRBAG ON MY VEHICLE WAS ISSUED ON MAY 23, 2016. I WAS TOLD BY MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP (HONDA CARS OF ROCK HILL (SC)) THAT THE BAGS WERE NOT AVAILABLE BUT ON ORDER. IN JULY, 2016, I RECEIVED FROM AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR COMPANY A NOTICE OF THE RECALL INCLUDING THE STATEMENT,"HONDA SUGGESTS THAT YOU AVOID HAVING A PASSENGER SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT UNTIL THE RECALL REPAIR HAS BEEN PERFORMED." I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP BACK AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PARTS WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND THAT I WAS "ON A WAITING LIST." ON AUGUST 16, I AGAIN CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AND THAT THEY "HAVE NO IDEA" WHEN THEY WILL BE. TODAY, AUGUST 17, I SPOKE WITH AMERICAN HONDA AND A REPRESENTATIVE SAID, "NO ONE CAN TELL YOU WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE." IF NO ONE IN HONDA KNOWS WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE THEN IT IS CONCEIVABLE THAT THEY NEVER WILL BE. IT IS UNREALISTIC AND IMPRACTICAL (AND UNSAFE) TO ASSUME THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WILL NOT BE USED UNTIL SOME DATE NO ONE IN HONDA KNOWS.

I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE IN JUNE 2016, I CALLED MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE PARTS WOULD BE ORDERED AND BE IN 4-5 DAYS. NEVER RECEIVED A CALL BACK. I CALLED THEM SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS TOLD THE PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THEY WILL BE IN. I CALLED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY DID NOTHING EITHER. COMPLETELY KEPT IN THE DARK, MY CAR WAS REAR ENDED THIS WEEKEND, LUCKILY THE PASSENGER AIRBACK DID NOT DEPLOY OR MY WIFE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED.
TAKATA RECALL. CALLED DEALERSHIP AND ORDERED PASSENGER AIRBAG PARTS ON JULY 7TH, AND AGAIN ON JULY 20TH WHEN THEY SAID MY FIRST CALL WAS NOT IN THE SYSTEM. I CALLED AGAIN ON AUGUST 20TH AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO TIME IN THE FUTURE WHEN THIS WOULD BE FULFILLED. THIS IS OUR ONLY VEHICLE, AND WE DO NOT HAVE ROOM TO DRIVE SAFELY IN IT.

TAKATA RECALL MY DAUGHTER DRIVES MY 3 GRANDCHILDREN IN THE HONDA FIT 2007. NOT ONLY HAS THE RECALL NOT BEEN ADDRESSED BUT THE INDICATOR THAT TURNS THE AIRBAG ON AND OFF OF THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT IS BROKEN AND IN THE ON POSITION WHICH ENDANGERS EVERYONE IN THE AUTOMOBILE NOT JUST THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER. ALL SEATS ARE NEEDED. THIS IS OUR ONLY VEHICLE FOR OUR DAUGHTER. IT IS AN EMERGENCY TO HAVE A SAFE VEHICLE TO USE. OUR GRANDCHILDREN AND DAUGHTER'S LIFE DEPENDS ON IT. WE HAVE CALLED NUMEROUS TIMES, CONTACTED BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND THE MANUFACTURER AND TO NO AVAIL. THEIR ONLY RESPONSE IS THAT THE PARTS ARE NOT YET AVAILABLE AND THERE ARE A LOT OF VEHICLES INVOLVED IN THE RECALL. THAT DOES NOT HELP US. WE NEED A SAFE VEHICLE!!!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 HONDA FIT. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS STRUCK FROM BEHIND BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THERE WERE INJURIES SUSTAINED TO THE BACK AND ENTIRE BODY OF THE CONTACT, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. HONDA FIT 2007 RECALL. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN JULY OF THIS YEAR ABOUT A RECALL REPAIR NEEDED FOR THE VEHICLE I RECENTLY PURCHASED. THE RECALL WAS FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG TO BE REPLACED BY THEN END OF THE SUMMER AND START OF FALL. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AFTER I RECEIVED THE NOTICE AND WAS TOLD I WOULD RECEIVE A SECOND NOTICE WHICH I NEVER RECEIVED. MY CALL WAS TRANSFERRED OVER TO ANOTHER DEPARTMENT WHERE I LEFT MY CONTACT INFORMATION AND A WOMAN CALLED ME A FEW DAYS LATER STATING SHE WOULD ORDER THE PART AND CONTACT ME WHEN IT CAME IN. I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANY OTHER NOTICE OR CALL ABOUT IT SINCE AND I AM WORRIED FOR MY SAFETY IN THIS VEHICLE IF IT SHOULD RUPTURE OR CAUSE ANY OTHER INJURY TO MYSELF OR ANY PASSENGERS.
TAKATA AIRBAG - THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN FLORIDA IN 2007 AND HAS BEEN DRIVEN IN A HOT HUMID CLIMATE EVER SINCE. WE WERE NOTIFIED IN JUNE OF THE RECALL AND SINCE THEN, HONDA HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO PROVIDE THE PART OR FIX THE PROBLEM. IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED NOW.
TAKATA RECALL-HAVE VACATION BOOKED USING AUTO TRAIN TO FLA. BOOKED ABOUT 8 MONTHS AGO. SCHEDULED TO LEAVE 8/17. RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE 7/18-TOLD NOT TO USE CAR IF PASSENGER IN SEAT. AIRBAG WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL LATE SUMMER OR FALL. CALLED HONDA (1-888-234-2138) AND EXPLAINED SITUATION. I WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED A RENTAL AND THEY WOULD GET BACK TO ME. I CALL AGAIN IN 7/25 AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD EXPEDITE RENTAL. I CALLED AGAIN 8/1 AND TOLD THAT IT IS IN THE WORKS BUT THEY HAVE 10K COMPLAINTS TO PROCESS. I AM BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE AS WE WILL BE FORCED TO USE THE CAR BUT AM AFRAID OF WHAT COULD HAPPEN. I AM RUNNING OUT OF TIME AND MY WIFE AND I ARE NOT SURE WHERE TO GO FOR HELP. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000. INTERMITTENT DISPLAY OF AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT. ACCORDING TO DEALER THERE IS A BREAK IN THE STEERING WHEEL 'CABLE REEL' THAT CONNECTS THE STEERING WHEEL AIR BAG (AS WELL AS THE HORN AND THE CRUISE CONTROL). *TR

THE WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. THE SERVICE WARRANTY EXPIRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE MALFUNCTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE BE DIAGNOSED WITH A SECOND OPINION. CURRENTLY, THE VEHICLE WAS BEING INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,300.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA FIT. THE DRIVER WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH WHEN A VEHICLE FAILED TO YIELD AND CRASHED INTO THE LEFT FRONT OF THE CONTACTS VEHICLE. THE DRIVER SIDE FRONTAL AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE DRIVER SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE HEAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 33,000.
MY SON WAS INVOLVED IN AN AUTO ACCIDENT IN HIS 2007 HONDA FIT SPORT. HE HIT A TRUCK STOPPED IN THE STREET WHILE TRYING TO AVOID THE TRUCK. THE IMPACT OCCURRED ON THE LEFT DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE HONDA FIT. THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE FIT WAS HEAVILY DAMAGED & THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS. MY SON HAD A SERIOUS HEAD INJURY AND WAS UNCONSCIOUS AND WAS FLOWN BY LIFE FLIGHT TO A TRAUMA CENTER WHERE HE WAS HOSPITALIZED WITH A SERIOUS BRAIN INJURY. NONE OF THE CAR'S AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. HAD THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DEPLOYED, HIS INJURY WOULD HAVE BEEN GREATLY REDUCED. BEFORE THE ACCIDENT, THE CAR WAS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH 38,000 MILES ON IT. THE INSURANCE COMPANY PLACED THE SALVAGE VALUE AT $1,100. WHY DIDN'T THE AIRBAGS WORK IN SUCH A SERIOUS ACCIDENT? I HAVE PHOTOS AVAILABLE. *TR
WE HAVE A 13 YEAR OLD WHO WEIGHS OVER 75 POUNDS. SHE BEGAN RIDING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OF OUR 2007 HONDA FIT AFTER HER 13TH BIRTHDAY. WE NOTICED THAT THE SRS INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON WHILE SHE SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. ACCORDING TO THE HONDA MANUAL, IF THE LIGHT COMES ON OTHER THAN WHEN YOU FIRST START THE CAR, YOU SHOULD HAVE YOUR CAR CHECKED BY THE DEALER, AS THIS MAY INDICATE THAT THE AIR BAGS OR SEAT BELT TENSIONERS ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. WE HAVE NOW TAKEN OUR CAR TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THEY CLAIM THE SRS SYSTEM AND THE AND THE SENSORS WORK PROPERLY. WE FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTION IS THE MANUAL, AND CHECKED ITEMS THAT MIGHT BE INTERFERING WITH THE SENSORS. WE HAVE A PICTURE OF OUR DAUGHTER SITTING IN THE PASSENGER WITH THE SRS INDICATOR LIGHT ON. WE HAVE HAD HER RIDE IN ANOTHER 2007 FIT, WHERE THIS PROBLEM DID NOT OCCUR. THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO OCCUR IN OUR CAR, HOWEVER HONDA SAYS THEY CANNOT FIX THIS, AS THEY CLAIM THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. WE DISAGREE. OUR 75+ POUND DAUGHTER CANNOT SAFELY RIDE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. WE BELIEVE WE HAVE A DEFECTIVE VEHICLE, ONE THAT IS NOT SAFE FOR 13 AND 14 YEAR OLDS UNDER 100 POUNDS TO RIDE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA FIT. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A DITCH. THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. SHE SUSTAINED INJURIES TO HER NECK AND LEFT RIB CAGE. THE CONTACT WAS PREVIOUSLY REAR-ENDED BY A VEHICLE DRIVING 45 MPH. THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY DURING THAT CRASH AS WELL. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE AIR BAGS; THEREFORE, THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COSTS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 80,000.
CUSTOMER WANTS TO KNOW IF THE LIFE THREATENING ERROR WITH THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG THAT WAS DISCOVERED DURING A CRASH TEST AFFECTS HER HONDA FIT THAT SHE JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED. **CC THE ERROR WAS DISCOVERED FOR ALL HONDA FIT'S THAT WERE MANUFACTURED BEFORE NOVEMBER 2006. *JB
TL* - THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE AIR BAG CRASH TEST RESULTS OF THE 2007 HONDA FIT. THE INSURANCE INSTITUTE OF HIGHWAY SAFETY REPORTED THE FOLLOWING R ON THIS VEHICLE: HTTP://WWW.IIHS.ORG/RATINGS/RATING.ASPX?ID=722 "THE HONDA FIT WAS INTRODUCED IN THE 2007 MODEL YEAR. THE FIT WAS EVALUATED IN TWO 40 MPH FRONTAL OFFSET CRASH TESTS. IN THE FIRST TEST, THE DRIVER'S FRONTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYED TOO EARLY, WITH THE RESULT THAT HIGH FORCES WERE RECORDED ON THE DUMMY'S HEAD WHEN IT BOTTOMED OUT THE AIRBAG AND HIT THE STEERING WHEEL HARD, INDICATING THE LIKELIHOOD OF HEAD INJURIES. THIS LED HONDA TO MODIFY THE FRONTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT CHARACTERISTICS ON MODELS PRODUCED AFTER NOVEMBER 2006. ALSO, HONDA WILL INITIATE A SAFETY IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN TO MODIFY AT ITS COST VEHICLES PRODUCED EARLIER. A SECOND FIT WAS TESTED WITH THE MODIFIED AIRBAGS, AND THE DRIVER'S AIRBAG INFLATED LATER. RATINGS OF THE FIT WAS BASED ON THE RESULTS OF THE SECOND TEST, EXCEPT STRUCTURAL PERFORMANCE WHICH WAS BASED ON BOTH TESTS. RESTRAINTS/DUMMY KINEMATICS. DUMMY MOVEMENT WAS WELL CONTROLLED. THE SIDE CURTAIN AND SIDE THORAX AIRBAGS DEPLOYED DURING THE CRASH. DURING REBOUND, THE DUMMYS HEAD CONTACTED THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG, WHICH KEPT THE HEAD AWAY FROM ANY STIFF STRUCTURE THAT COULD CAUSE INJURY. MEASURES TAKEN FROM THE HEAD, NECK, AND CHEST INDICATE LOW RISK OF INJURIES TO THESE BODY REGIONS. *AK
TL* - WHILE DRIVING A 2007 HONDA FIT 30-40 MPH THE CONTACT 'S VEHICLE REAR ENDED A 1997 MERCEDES BENZ. DAMAGE WAS DONE TO FRONT OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE, BUT THE AIR BAG NEVER DEPLOYED.
