TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA FIT. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE POWER STEERING FAILED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RACK AND PINION POWER STEERING SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND AN UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON SEVEN OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,250.
3X WHILE DRIVING THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON. I LOST POWER STEERING FOR 2-3 SECONDS EACH TIME WHICH SPONTANEOUSLY RESTORED ITSELF WHILE DRIVING. EACH TIME THIS HAPPENED THE RADIO WOULD ALSO CUT OUT FOR THE DURATION OF THE INCIDENT. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER LOST POWER STEERING OR HAD THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING LIGHT COME ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA FIT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. UPON RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER RESET THE POWER STEERING SOFTWARE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN A STEEP HILL, THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND THE STEERING BECAME VERY HEAVY AN PULLED TO ONE SIDE. THE WARNING LIGTH WAS ON FOR UNDER 5 SECONDS AND LATER DISAPPEARED AND STEERING BECAME NORMAL AGAIN. THIS PROBLEM WOULD AGAIN HAPPEN INTERMITTENTLY OVER THE COURSE OF A WEEK. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE HONDA DEALER TO CHECK ON THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID THE BATTERY WAS LOW AND REPLACE THE BATTERY. THE PROBLEM RETURNED AGAIN AND THE DEALER COULD NOT OFFER A SOLUTION.
THE STEERING WHEEL BECOME EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN. I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART THE CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. *TR
THE POWER STEERING HAS BEEN INTERMITTENTLY GOING OUT ON RANDOM OCCASIONS FOR UP TO 20 SECONDS AT A TIME. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND IN THE MIDDLE OF TURNS. I CAN HANDLE POWER STEERING GOING OUT, BUT IF IT HAPPENS TO HAPPEN AT THE WRONG TIME, THAT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO TWO DIFFERENT MECHANICS AND NEITHER HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG. *TR
POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING 4 TIMES NOW. DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO FIND THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY BECAME TIGHT TO TURN, AND THE EPS INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. THE ENGINE HAD TO BE TURNED OFF, AND WHEN RESTARTED THE STEERING GOT BACK TO NORMAL AGAIN, AND THE EPS INDICATOR LIGHT WAS OFF. HOWEVER, IT HAPPENED AGAIN SEVERAL TIMES, SOMETIMES BACK-TO-BACK DURING THE SAME DRIVE. IT HAPPENED AT LEAST 20~25 TIMES IN THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS; AND FINALLY I TOOK IT TO THE HONDA SERVICE SHOP FOR REPAIR RECENTLY. *TR

WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE SHE NOTICED THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL, AND THE STEERING COLUMN WAS LOCKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE TECHNICIAN LOCATED AN ANGLE SENSOR ERROR CODE. HOWEVER SINCE THE TECHNICIANS COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE, THEY DID NOT MAKE REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2200. THE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER UNAVAILABLE. UPDATED 12/07/09 *AA THE MANUAL STATED TO RESTART THE ENGINE TO RESET THE EPS AND IT WORKED AFTER SEVERAL TRIES. THE CONSUMER DROVE THE VEHICLE ABOUT 1 MILE WHEN THE POWER STEERING FAILED AGAIN. THE POWER STEERING FAILED AGAIN WHEN THE MILEAGE WAS 2570. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER. AGAIN THERE WAS AN ANGLE SENSOR ERROR CODE. THE EPS CONTROL UNIT WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER. UPDATED 12/09/09. CONTACT SAYS THE VEHICLE FAILED AGAIN ON 2/1/2010. CONTACT SAYS THE POWER STEERING RACK WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER BUT THE PART STILL FAILED. FAILURE MILES WERE 4444. CURRENT MILES ARE 4450. CONTACT CHOSE NOT TO GIVE VIN. AA
