My 2017 Honda HR-V in White Orchid Pearl (NH-788P) has severe paint peeling on multiple panels (hood, roof, door). Honda issued Service Bulletin 19-064 covering this exact defect. However, I have been informed by Honda customer service and Honda dealers that my vehicle is no longer covered because it is 1 year beyond the 7-year extension period, even though the defect matches the exact conditions described in the bulletin. This is clearly a manufacturing defect, not normal wear. A consumer fairness concern, as the defect appears years before what should be the normal paint life of a vehicle. A potential safety concern, since exposed bare metal can lead to rust and structural weakening. I suggest an investigation into whether Honda should expand the paint defect warranty to include affected vehicles beyond the 7-year cutoff. As I believe paint on those defect vehicles don’t usually start peeling until about 7 year old or later and once they start to peel, they peel rapidly. I have attached photos of the peeling paint for your reference. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
I am the owner of a 2017 Honda HR-V with paint code NH-788P (White Orchid Pearl). Over time, I began to notice significant paint peeling and flaking, primarily on the roof, hood, and upper panels. This defect progressed despite routine washing and care. Based on my research, this is a well-documented and widespread issue affecting many Honda vehicles with this specific paint code. Honda issued a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB 19-064) acknowledging this defect and offered an extended warranty for paint repair. However, my vehicle is just slightly outside the 7-year window, and Honda has refused to assist. The cause appears to be a defect in the factory paint or application process, resulting in poor adhesion and premature paint failure. This has impacted the appearance and resale value of the vehicle and may also lead to long-term corrosion if the issue continues to spread.
The paint on the roof is peeling and some area around the windshield. I contacted Honda but was informed the extended warranty expired as of January 2024. The paint began peeling around July 2024. Honda also stated the extended warranty was valid from the time of purchase. However, I am not sure if this is for the initial purchase (1st owner) or when I purchase it (May 2019). If this is for the initial purchase then the extended warranty offered was negotiated fairly when it involves 2nd, 3rd owners who are now experiencing this issue. I should not have to pay for something that is clearly a manufacturer issue (peeling paint). When I drive at times the paint peelings further in the wind then blows off towards the vehicle behind me. I kindly asked this be addressed at Honda expense since they decided to use a cheaper paint on these vehicles. They need to be held accountable. R/
Front passenger water on the floor after rain. Seems to be the same problem described by complaint no. 10979667.
THE PAINT ON THE ROOF HAS STARTED PEELING SEVERELY. IT'S FLAKING IN SEVERAL SPOTS FROM THE INITIAL DEFECT. THERE IS EVIDENCE OF PRIOR REPAIR OR DAMAGE THAT WAS NOT DOCUMENTED OR BROUGHT BY THE DEALERSHIP. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL OF THE PAINT BUBBLING, PEELING AND BRAKING OFF. IT IS CONSISTENTLY DETERIORATING. THIS CAR IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD THIS IS A HUGE CONCERN AND PROBLEM. REPORTS HAVE BEEN SUBMITTED TO HONDA.COM AND HONDA OF SALEM LOCATED AT 1101 VAN NESS AVE NE SALEM OR 97301
THE PAINT ON THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE HAS STARTED TO PEEL WITHOUT A REASON. THE CAR WAS PARKED AND I CAME OUT TO FIND A GOOD SIZE PAINT CHIP TO THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD. NOTHING HAS HIT THE ROOF AND THERE IS NO DENT FROM THE PAINT BEING HIT.
PAINT IS PEELING OFF TOP OF 2017 HONDA HRV. WAS TOLD THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS NOT AN EXPENSE I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF MY POCKET. I PAID CAR IN FULL AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS. AND IT IS PROBLEM MANY HONDA'S ARE HAVING. THEY SHOULD STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND DO THE RIGHT THING.
UPON EXITING VEHICLE, DRIVER'S DOOR DOES NOT CONSISTENTLY LATCH COMPLETELY.
FOUND WATER LEAKING INSIDE DRIVER SIDE ON THE FLOOR. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO VICTORY HONDA OF PLYMOUTH DEALERSHIP. THEY FOUND 0TFRT 841199 LOWER APILLAR INNER BODY PLUG MISSING. REPLACED PLUG. SEEMS TO BE COMMON ISSUE WITH HONDA VEHICLES. SOMEBODY NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE DUE TO BEING SO CLOSE TO THE FUSE BOX. CAN BE SAFETY CONCERN.
