TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1998 HONDA PASSPORT. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ATTEMPTING A TURN AT 25 MPH, THE REAR AXLE FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE AXLE WAS DAMAGED AND COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THERE WERE NO REPAIRS MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 112,000.
TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO BE SLIPPING, IT SHIFTS IN A DRAMATIC LOUD MANNER. A LARGE JOLT OCCURS WHEN CHANGING GEARS. THIS OCCURS COMPLETELY SPORADICALLY, IT WILL FUNCTION NORMALLY FOR A FEW DAYS AND THEN MALFUNCTION SEVERAL TIMES, AND THEN RETURN TO NORMAL. WHEN TAKEN TO TRANSMISSION SHOP I WAS TOLD IT WAS FINE, THIS IS PARTLY DUE TO THE FACT THAT THERE IS NO WAY TO CHECK THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WITHOUT DROPPING THE PAN. THIS PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED FOR A FEW MONTHS AND STILL CONTINUES TODAY. *JB
WHEN STARTING VEHICLE RPM RAVES UP LIKE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS BEING DEPRESSED, BUT VEHICLE IS IN PARK GEAR. THEN WHEN GEAR IS SHIFTED, THERE IS A BANGING NOISE. WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE JERKS BACKWARD THEN IT DIES OUT. PER DEALERSHIP THIS IS CAUSED BY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE.
WHILE TRAVELING ABOUT 60MPH ON THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. SHE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND LANDED IN A DITCH. PRINDLE SWITCH WENT OUT ON THE TRANSMISSON THE DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. TS
VALVE TRAIN PREMATURE WEAR. REQUIRES AN UPPER END REBUILD AT MY EXPENSE. MAKING A LOUD CLICK DURING ACCELERATION. TOLD BY DEALERSHIP THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. RECALL # 00V058000 ISUZU/REAR AXLE; DEALER DOES NOT HAVE PARTS TO CORRECT RECALL. OWNER HAS CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP 3 OR 4 TIMES. PARTS ARE NEVER AVAILABLE. *AK *ML
AUTOMATIC SHIFT CABLE IS LOCATED TOO CLOSE TO THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. THE HEAT FROM THE EXHAUST SYSTEM HAS MELTED THE INSULATION OFF THE CABLE, CAUSING PART OF THE CABLE TO RUST. OWNER DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM WHILE REPLACING THE BULBS IN THE FOG LAMPS. TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP. CABLE WILL BE REPLACED AT OWNER'S EXPENSE. *AK *ML
