MANUAL TRANSMISSION FAILS TO SHIFT INTO 2ND GEAR, 4TH GEAR, OR REVERSE. (INTO ANY OF THE DOWN SHIFTING POSITIONS) THERE SEEMS TO BE NO PATTERN TO PREDICT WHEN THIS PROBLEM WILL APPEAR. I'VE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS ON SURFACE STREETS, FREEWAYS, AND WHEN JUST STARTING THE CAR OR MID TRIP. *JB
UPON HAVING TRANSMISSION REPLACED VEHICLE STALLED, AND GEARS GOT STUCK WHEN TRYING TO GO FROM ONE GEAR TO THE NEXT. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
WHEN DRIVING AT BOTH RESIDENTIAL & HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO SLIP OUT OF GEAR INTO NEUTRAL CAUSING A RACING OF THE ENGINE & A SUDDEN JERKING OF THE VEHICLE. SO FAR THIS HAS RESOLVED AFTER SEVERAL SECONDS AND THE TRANSMISSION RE-ENGAGES. THIS HAS HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY. THE SECOND REPORT RELATES TO THE THE ENGINE NOT MOVING INTO OVERDRIVE WHEN IT SHOULD. BOTH OF THESE PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN HAPPENING RANDOMLY BUT WITH INCREASING FREQUENCY. *AK
TRANSMISSION FAILURES CONTINUALLY EXPERIENCED SINCE OWNERSHIP. MJS
WHEN DRIVING AT 55 MPH AND WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING, VEHICLE WILL GO DOWN FROM 55 MPH TO 30 MPH, AND IS JERKING. ALSO, VEHICLE IS SHIFTING IMPROPERLY AND STALLS. *AK
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WILL DROP OUT OF GEAR INTO NEUTRAL WHILE CAR IS IN DRIVE USUALLY AROUND 35 TO 40 MPH. THIS CONDITION DOES NOT REGISTER WHEN CAR IS ON ELECTRONIC DIAGNOSTIC DEVICES. ON ATLEAST THREE OCCASIONS PRIOR TO THE FIRST, TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY FAILED. IT HAD BEEN PLACED ON A DEVICE, WITH NO PROBLEM FOUND. THE SECOND, SUPPOSEDLY NEW TRANSMISSION BEGAN HAVING THE SAME TROUBLE, AGAIN IT COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED BY MACHINE. BECAUSE NO ONE WANTED TO HELP I GAVE THE CAR UP. WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR I WAS TOLD IT WAS NEW BY THE DEALERSHIP, IT TOOK THE HYUNDAI CORPORATION 2 YRS TO SEND ME A WARRENTY CARD AND PUT THE CAR IN MY NAME. WHEN THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM STARTED W/THE TRANSMISSION I FOUND OUT THAT THE CAR HAD PREVIOUSLY BELONGED TO SOMEONE IN CALIFORNIA WHO MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE HAD THE SAME TROUBLE. I HAVE SPOKEN TO OTHER HYUNDAI OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THEIR ACCENTS. ALSO TO NO AVAIL WITH THE COMPANY OR DEALERSHIPS. *AK
MASTER CYLINDER WITH THE CLUTCH WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT LESS THAN 5 MPH. DEALER CONTACTED AND REPAIR WORK WAS DONE. *AK
TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO HESITATE UPON ACCELERATION. CAUSE UNKNOWN. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
GEAR SHIFT STICKS, WON'T COME OUT OF PARK.
TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT PAST 3RD GEAR AND SHAKES/JERKS.
CONSUMER IS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH CLUTCH. WHENEVER DOWNSHIFTING MAY OR MAY NOT BE ABLE TO CHANGE THE GEAR. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN SHOP THREE TIMES FOR SAME PROBLEM (1)AUG. 19, 97, (2)SEPT.2, 97, (3)SEPT. 19, 97. DEALER HAS BLED THE LINES FOR AIR 1ST TIME; 2ND TIME WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO PROBLEM, 3RD TIME DEALER SAID THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF DEFECTIVE PART, BUT THERE WAS NO REMEDY AT THIS TIME. CONSUMER IS GIVEN AN APPOINTMENT FOR THURSDAY 9-11-97 TO BRING VEHICLE BACK FOR CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER TO BE PUT ON . THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED. *AK
THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTS INTO THE WRONG GEAR WHILE BEING DRIVEN, AND VEHICLE HAS STALLED SEVERAL TIME BECAUSE OF IT. *AK

OVERDRIVE GOES OUT WHEN SPEEDOMETER REACH 60MPH. THIS HAPPENS ANYTIME WHEN GETTING TO 60MPH IT JUST GOES OUT. *AK
