The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that her daughter was driving the vehicle when the failure occurred. While driving on a city road at 25 MPH, a tractor-trailer crossed in front of the contact's lane. The contact stated that her daughter immediately reacted by taking a sharp left turn in order to avoid a collision. However, upon attempting to depress the brake pedal, the brakes failed to engage, therefore causing the contact to crash into a utility pole. The front passenger side of the contact's vehicle was crashed upon impact with the utility pole, and the vehicle came to a stop upon impact. No property damage was reported. The airbags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed to a local body shop. The Traction Control Warning light was illuminated. A police report was filed. No injuries were reported. No one outside of the vehicle was injured. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 77,300.
The recall 251 has gone unaddressed since September 2023. I am receiving notices from dealerships and carfax to repair the open recall. How long does Hyundai have to correct this issue
I submitted an online repair request to Capitol Hyundai of San Jose for ABS Fuse Replacement (XXX) Recall Code: 251. However, their website shows no available appointment dates in 2024, 2025, or 2026. My concern was that not having any repair appointment slots available for this recall amounted to a refusal to perform the recall work. I submitted a complaint to Hyundai Consumer Affairs [XXX] ) regarding Capitol Hyundai's refusal to service this recall, but was told the following: "State laws limit our ability to intervene with dealership transactions as each Hyundai dealership is independently owned and operated. We recommend you contact the manager of the service department or the General Manager of the dealership at (408) 445-1500 to discuss your concerns with there not being any availability at their location." In other words, Hyundai Consumer Affairs said that it could not require that Capitol Hyundai perform the recall work. I am concerned that Capitol Hyundai of San Jose is refusing to repair my vehicle by blocking all appointment dates related to this recall. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The ABS module accordingly has been recalled this vehicle show no sign of ABS fluid leak, though can potentially. The Hyundai Manufacturer has not devised a solution to this hazzard. Hyundai has been given a reasonable amount of time to devise a solution to this recall.
Nervous driving the car but don't have a choice. When will recall be fixed by Hyundai?
Access noise in car very distracting...A Bluetooth connection caused a scent of a Bursted battery The causing a gas like affect almost resorting in a car accident. I heard a internal air bag burst and could visually see the gas like connection with the Bluetooth and smart ph. And the brakes went out in mid traffic. And came with no spare tire.

MY DEALER WERNER HYUNDAI IN TALLAHASSEE DID THE RECALL ON MY CAR (HAVE RECEIPT), BUT THE RECEIPT HAVE THE WRONG VEHICLE/VIN ([XXX]) WHICH MAKES THE RECALL ON MY VEHICLE ([XXX]) AS INCOMPLETE. CALL THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES TO CORRECT BUT THEY NEVER DID. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WITH A DRIVER OF A VEHICLE MAKING AN ILLEGAL LEFT HAND TURN WHICH TOTALLED THE VEHICLE AND LED TO INJURIES WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. THE BRAKES DID NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY TO STOP THE VEHICLE.
MY WIFE WAS IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE BRAKES FAILED TO WORK, AND SHE REAR-ENDED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HER. WE WENT TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP NEARBY AND THEY TESTED IT FOR TWO DAYS AND COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE. ON ONE OF THEIR TESTS THE ENGINE DIED AND THE BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED BUT THEY HAD NOT YET HOOKED UP THE DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT SO THEY NEVER CAPTURED THE SOURCE OF THAT FAILURE. ALL OTHER TIMES THE BREAKS AND THE ENGINE WORKED FINE. THE RESULT WAS THAT THEY CANNOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM.
I WAS DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC APPROXIMATELY 30 - 35 MILES PER HOUR AND I HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES OF MY 2014 HYUNDAI ELANTRA TO AVOID COLLISION WITH A CAR THAT WAS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC FOR NO APPARENT REASON APPROXIMATELY 8-9 CAR LENGTHS IN FRONT OF ME AND THE BRAKES FAILED. THE BRAKE FAILURE CAUSED ME HAVE AN ACCIDENT AS I HAD NO OTHER CHOICE AND NO OTHER WAY TO STOP THE CAR EXCEPT TO REAR END THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THAT'S THE ONLY WAY THE CAR STOPPED. INSTEAD OF STOPPING WHEN I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES, I HAD NO BRAKES AT ALL AND THE CAR SKIDDED OVER THE LENGTH OF 8-9 CARS AND ONLY STOPPED WHEN I HIT THE REAR END OF THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. WHEN I INITIALLY PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES I FELT A "THUMP" THROUGH THE BRAKE PADDLE AND THEN I HAD NO BRAKES. THERE HAD BEEN RAIN EARLIER IN THE DAY, BUT AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT IT WAS NOT RAINING. THERE WAS SLIGHT REAR BUMPER TO THE CAR THAT I REAR ENDED, BUT WITH THE IMPACT OF THE ACCIDENT MY CAR IS BASICALLY TOTALLED - FRONT BUMPER AND SIDE LIGHTS WERE DAMAGED AND FELL OFF OF THE CAR, MY ENGINE WAS PUSHED DOWN, ONE OF THE MOTOR MOUNT BOLTS WAS TOTALLY BROKEN OFF, THE HOOD AND THE RADIATOR WERE SMASHED IN, VALVES WERE DAMAGED, MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED, AC AND HEATER DAMAGED AND I DO NOT HAVE ANY BRAKES AS CAN BE VERIFIED BY MY MECHANIC. FOR THE SPEED THAT I WAS GOING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC I DON'T SEE HOW I COULD HAVE HAD THIS MUCH DAMAGE. IT'S UNBELIEVABLE. ALL IN ALL I AM LUCKY TO BE ALIVE AND UNINJURED. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR EVER AGAIN DUE TO BRAKE FAILURE.
BRAKES FAILED IN A 60 MILE DRIVE. BRAKE PETAL TO THE FLOOR AND BRAKE FLUID WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. DEALER REPORTED THAT A PIECE IF ROAD DEBRIS CUT/PUNCTURED THE REAR RIGHT RUBBER- LIKE BRAKE LINE. INADEQUATE SHIELDING TO THIS VULNERABLE SAFETY ITEM. I HAVE THE ITEM FOR INSPECTION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT LEAST TWENTY TIMES DURING THE PAST YEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ONCE FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED.
