While driving my 2023 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy at about 30 mph on a small paved street, the sunroof suddenly exploded with a very loud bang. There were no other cars nearby, no debris, and nothing hit the vehicle. Thankfully, the inside sliding cover was closed, so no glass entered the cabin, but the sound was extremely alarming and could have easily caused an accident if conditions were different. The dealership refused to cover the repair under warranty. After looking online, I discovered many other Hyundai owners reporting the same issue with their panoramic sunroofs, so this does not appear to be an isolated incident. This is a major safety concern. If the interior cover had been open, shattered glass would have fallen directly onto me and my passengers, likely causing injuries. The sudden loud explosion can also startle drivers and lead to loss of control. I believe this is a dangerous defect that requires investigation.

I was driving down the street in my neighborhood and heard an extremely loud explosion. I pulled over to check that it wasn’t the tires and that there wasn’t anything on the street. As i pulled into my driveway i heard rattling on the roof, i got out the car to check and saw that the sunroof was shattered and there was shards of glass everywhere. There did not appear to be any impacts though, just shattered glass. I had the sunroof shade closed so no glass fell on me, thank God.

Component/System: Windshield. Description of the Issue: My 2023 Hyundai Palisade’s windshield developed a small crack, which has progressively spread into a longer line over time. The crack appeared without any significant external impact, raising concerns about the overall quality and durability of the windshield. Safety Risk: The growing crack reduces visibility and compromises the structural integrity of the windshield, potentially putting my safety and the safety of other drivers at risk. Reported/Confirmed by Dealer: I reported the issue to my Hyundai dealership, but they stated that there is no recall or warranty coverage for this problem. Inspection Status: The dealership acknowledged the issue but did not provide any solutions, leaving me to seek independent repair options. I have not yet involved an independent service center, insurance, or other third parties for inspection. Symptoms Prior to Failure: There were no warning signs or indicators before the crack appeared. It developed suddenly and unexpectedly, despite regular vehicle use under normal conditions. Additional Information: Upon researching online, I discovered numerous complaints from other Hyundai Palisade owners regarding the poor quality of the windshield. This pattern suggests a potential manufacturing defect that Hyundai has not yet addressed.

Back seat window glass (both sides) are cloudy/foggy to such a degree that it obscures visibility, especially in direct sunlight. While backing out of driveway, could not see a child on bicycle and nearly hit him. He yelled out loud enough that I slammed on my brakes. Have had similar incidents when backing out of parking spaces and turning corners. Dealership replaced driver side with new glass about 10 days ago but new glass is just has defective as original glass. Refer to attached photos. The cloudiness is not as evident in low light conditions. First noticed it a few days after purchasing the vehicle new in August of 2022 but thought it would clear up on its own. Incident with boy on bicycle occurred on 8/21/24. Obviously this is a defect in the glass manufacturing and is an unsafe and dangerous condition. No one at Dealerships seem to take it seriously.

When driving the car normally suddenly there was an extremely loud sound above us. After pulling off the road and inspecting the vehicle we saw that the front sunroof had shattered. Fortunately the bottom cover had been closed else the glass would have fallen on the driver and passengers and very well could have caused an accident and/or injuries. The remaining glass was bowed upwards and there wasn't any foreign objects inside the roof. At the time of the incident there were no other vehicles around us nor were we under any trees or highway structure. We brought the car to the dealer who claimed that something must have impacted the sunroof however that is not the case. The sunroof glass spontaneously just shattered without any warning. There had been no cracks or chips in the sunroof glass at the time.

This past weekend my family and I were driving in wet snowy weather in Colorado. We had the wipers set to the "Auto" position and everything seemed to be working. While driving I stepped on the brake and snow from the top of the vehicle slid down onto the windshield. All of a sudden the wipers stopped working. They were stuck halfway on the windshield. I tried to turn them off and on but nothing worked. Luckily I was able to safely pull off the side of the road. I cleared the snow from the windshield and then the wipers worked again. About an hour later I was driving on the freeway in snowy weather and the same thing happened again. The wipers suddenly stopped working. However, this time I was in heavy traffic and there was no safe place to pull off the interstate. I was able to look through a small area on top of the windshield and drove about another mile and half before I could find an exit to pull over. I cleaned the snow from the windshield but the wipers still did not work. I then opened the hood of the vehicle and continued to clear snow from below the windshield wiper arms. Finally the wipers began to work again. This is a HUGE safety issue. I could have easily been in an accident because of not being able to see forward. And if I were to stop suddenly, someone could have easily ran into the rear of our vehicle. The next business day I contacted my local dealership and informed him of the incident. I also informed him that there was a previous recall on the windshield wiper arm on this vehicle that I had replaced in July 2023. He indicated that the recall had nothing to do with the wipers not working in snowy weather and that I was welcome to bring the vehicle in to have the wipers inspected. I did that that same day. They inspected the wipers and informed me that the bolts holding the wiper arms were tight and that the wipers were working normally. There was no warning lights or other symptoms prior to this incident.

Driving in heavy rain, wipers quit. No snow, no ice, just heavy rain. This creates a potential for a fatal incident. Approximately 5 to 10 minutes after quitting and upon turning wipers off and back on, wipers reset and begin to work again.

No warning lights were illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was scheduled; however, the contact stated that after the vehicle was taken to the dealer, the contact was informed that parts were not available. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 4,200. Parts distribution disconnect.

Recalls not being done! I am writing to complain about the inadequate and unsatisfactory service I received from the Temecula Hyundai service department on several occasions. The last one crossed the line and is a cause of concern; a huge safety and liability issue. On July 20, 2023 I brought my vehicle in for the driver wiper recall. I was told it was done and it reflected on my profile. After repeated incidents at this location I decided to get my vehicle serviced at a different location. On November 16, 2023, I dropped my vehicle off for the electric oil pump recall where they also suggested to address the windshield wiper. I told them that had been taken care of at the Temecula dealership but they proceeded to show me that while they logged the work in the system, the job was never completed; my palisade still has the old wiper part that was to be replaced. I wonder if this is standard practice at the Temecula shop? That’s extremely concerning as it poses a safety risk if recalls aren’t being properly addressed. I find what happened to be unacceptable and a huge safety and liability concern. I request from you to address this issue the best way possible. I hope that you will be able to find a satisfactory solution very fast.

We were driving in a snow storm with kids trying to get home and all of a sudden our wipers stopped working and the snow completely covered our windshield. We couldn't see anything and we were in the middle of the road blinded by the snow, not knowing where to go, or stop and how to go get home. My husband had to stop in the middle of the road risking our lives just to clean the windshield. It was covered in snow again almost instantaneously and became impossible for us to get home. This is extremely unsafe that the wipers stop working whenever it snows. This was the worst incident that happened to us but everytime it snows the wipers stop working and we have to clean the bank behind the wipers to get them to work again. There must be a recall for 2023 Palisades as well because they haven't fixed the problem from the recall of the 2019 models and Hyundai must be penalized for ignoring such essential and important safety feature despite knowing it for years...

While driving in snowy conditions my windshield wipers failed to work. They were working and then about 15 minutes in to my drive they stopped working. I had to pull off the side of the interstate with semi trucks flying by to pick the compacted snow out. It did not work and I slowly and very carefully had to continue until I was able to make it home and they were able to thaw.
