TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HYUNDAI TUCSON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER REFUELING, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY START. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE NOX, PURGE VALVE, FUEL TRIM AND CAMSHAFT SENSORS WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE SENSORS WERE REPLACED HOWEVER, TEN DAYS LATER THE FAILURE RECURRED. LAUREL HYUNDAI LOCATED AT 998 EISENHOWER BLVD, JOHNSTOWN, PA 15904 WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,000.
THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING PLACE IN A SHOPPING CENTER. AS I WAS TURNING INTO THE PARKING PLACE I VERY LIGHTLY TAPPED THE ACCELERATOR AND THE ENGINE REVED UP AND I APPLIED THE BRAKE ONLY TO HAVE THE CAR CONTINUE FORWARD AND GO UP THE CEMENT CURB. I THEN PUSHED DOWN ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AS HARD AS I COULD AND ONLY THEN DID THE CAR STOP. IF THE CEMENT BLOCK HAD NOT BEEN THERE, I WOULD HAVE HIT THE CAR PARKED DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME. THE FRONT TIRES HAD GONE ABOUT TWO FEET UP ON THE CEMENT BLOCK. THE NEXT TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS ONCE AGAIN PARKING. THIS TIME I WAS PARKING PARALLEL TO THE CURB. I PULLED INTO AND IN FRONT OF THE SPACE I WAS GOING TO PARK IN. I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND BEGAN TO BACK UP SLOWLY WITH MY FOOT OVER THE BRAKE PEDAL. SUDDENLY, THE ENGINE REVED UP AND THE CAR LURCHED BACKWARD. THIS TIME I APPLIED THE BRAKE VERY HARD AND I WAS ABLE TO STOP MY CAR BEFORE I HIT CAR IN BACK OF ME.

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED INTERMITTENTLY WHILE REVERSING, DRIVING, AND VARIOUS OTHER TIMES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE RESTARTED ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THEY WHERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 145,400.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY ENGINE STALLS WITH NO WARNING CAR LOSES ALL POWER. MAY OR MAY NOT START AGAIN IN A FEW MINUTES. WE TOOK THE CAR TO OUR MECHANIC CARS STARTED RIGHT UP. NO ERROR CODES CAME UP THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE MORE TIMES WITH THE SAME RESULTS AT DIFFERENT AUTO SHOPS. I HAVE CONTACTED HYUNDAI THEY SAY THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF ANY PROBLEMS. DOING SOME INTERNET RESEARCH SHOWS THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IT COULD EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *TR

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE HAD OCCURRED ONCE PRIOR TO THE RECENT FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

THE CONTACT WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 99,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA TUCSON. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE CONTACT APPROACHED A STOP SIGN AND THE ENGINE STALLED WITH THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATION. THE ENGINE RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWELVE TIMES. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED BY AN INDEPENDENT AUTO SHOP. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AND BECAME PROGRESSLY WORSE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED FOR THE DEFECT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
I BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE MECHANIC FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND HE STATED THAT THE OIL PAN GASKET IS ROTTING/CORRODING AND IS CLOSE TO LEAKING. HE SAID THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN IN A 5 YEAR OLD VEHICLE AND THAT IT IS DEFECTIVE. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON IT. *TR

THE REPAIRS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE CONSISTED OF THE COMPUTERIZED CHIP REPLACEMENT AND A COMPLETE ENGINE TUNE UP. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AFTER THE REPAIRS. I HAVE A 2005 HYUNDI TUCSON 2.7L V6. IM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE STALLING WHEN COMING TO A STOP. THE PROBLEM HAPPENED TODAY AT A STOP SIGN. THANKFULLY THERE WASN'T ANOTHER CAR IN FRONT OF ME BECAUSE I COULDN'T STOP IN TIME FOR THE SIGN AFTER IT STALLED. THIS HAS NOT BEEN THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. ITS HAPPENED ABOUT 6 OTHER TIMES, ALL WHEN COMING TO A STOP AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS, STOP SIGNS AND YIELD SIGNS. THE CAR DOES START RIGHT AFTER ITS STALLED. I'VE DONE A FAIR AMOUNT OF RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE AND IT SEEMS IT HASN'T BEEN SOLVED YET. I'VE READ OF OTHER TUCSONS BEING INVOLVED IN ACCIDENTS DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. SOME CASES HAVE BEEN WHEN TRAVELING AY HIGHWAY SPEED. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED. *TR
INCORRECT OIL DIPSTICK INSTALLED ON 2005 HYUNDAI TUCSON GL, 2WD,2.0L,AUTO. OWNERS MANUAL CALLS FOR 4.23 QUARTS, THIS WILL RESULT IN AN OVERFILL OF ABOUT 1/2 INCH OVER THE FULL MARK. OWNERS MANUAL CLEARLY HIGHLIGHTS IN BOLD LETTERS NOT TO OVERFILL AS ENGINE DAMAGE WILL RESULT. AN OIL FILL TO THE FULL LINE RESULTS IN LESS THAN SPECIFIED OIL QUANTITY. DEALER IS AWARE OF PROBLEM AND HAS CALLED TECH LINE AND HAS GOTTEN GUIDANCE TO CONTINUE TO PUT 4.23 QUARTS IN AND LET THE DIPSTICK READ OVER FULL. NO FIX IS OFFERED. HYUNDER CONSUMER AFFAIRS HAS BEEN NOTIFIED, CASE#3249498 AND HAS PROVIDED NO RESOLUTION. A SCENARIO IS THAT A DIPSTICK READING OF LOW WOULD ACTUALLY BE 1/2 QUART BELOW THE LOW READING POSSIBLY CAUSING ENGINE DAMAGE OR FIRE. A CORRECT DIPSTICK NEEDS TO BE DESIGNED TO INDICATE PROPER OIL LEVEL. PROBLEM SINCE NEW. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR JUST STALLS, LOOSING POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. RESULTING IN MY DAUGHTER REARENDING ANOTHER CAR AND THAT CAR HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF IT AND THAT DRIVER SUING MY INSURANCE. AFTER BEING IN THE BODY SHOP FOR A MONTH, I PICKED THE CAR UP FRIDAY APRIL 25 THE CAR STALLED THREE TIMES. I DROVE THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER DOUGLAS ISUZU, IN SANTA ANA CALIF. ON SATURDAY APRIL 26 AND IT STALLED AGAIN GETTING OFF THE 55 FREEWAY ALMOST CAUSING ME TO DRIVE OFF THE ROAD ON THE OFFRAMP. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HYUNDAI TUCSON. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH AND APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND THEN RESTARTED ITSELF IMMEDIATELY. THREE MONTHS LATER, THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT INSPECT THE VEHICLE UNLESS THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE, BUT STATED THAT THE AIR INTAKE HOSE WAS POSSIBLY CAUSING THE FAILURE. THEY REPLACED THE BAND CLAMPS. SOON AFTER THE REPAIR, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT FILED A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,500 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 45,000. UPDATED 06/09/08 *BF
BEGINNING AT APPROXIMATELY 20K MILES THE ENGINE STALLS FOR NO APPARENT REASON. USUALLY OCCURS FOR A FEW DAYS AFTER EXTENDED HIGHWAY DRIVING THEN IT IS LESS PREVALENT. STALLING OCCURS MOST OFTEN WHEN SLOWING TO A STOP BUT HAS HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY AT SPEED. VEHICLE NOW HAS 85K MILES ON IT AND PROBLEM IS STILL OCCURRING. HAS BEEN TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES BUT NO "CODES" ARE SET AND THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM (SOMETHING ABOUT MANUFACTURER WILL NOT "ALLOW" THEM TO PERFORM EXTENDED DRIVING TO DUPLICATE FAILURE CONDITIONS). ON A FEW OCCASIONS THE ENGINE HAS STALLED IN TRAFFIC SITUATIONS WHERE ACCIDENTS WERE NARROWLY AVOIDED. WE NO LONGER FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE AS IT IS JUST A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WILL OCCUR DUE TO THIS STALLING. *TR

DT*: THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE DOES NOT REACH A HIGH ENOUGH TEMPERATURE READING TO OPERATE IN COLD WEATHER. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOUR TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME THE VEHICLE WAS DETERMINED TO HAVE AN AIR POCKET IN THE HEATING SYSTEM. THE CONSUMER CONTINUED HAVING THE SAME TYPE OF PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP A SECOND TIME. THE DEALERSHIP ACKNOWLEDGED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE THERMOSTAT AND IT WAS REPLACED. THE PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE PERSISTED THEREFORE, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP A THIRD TIME. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR WHICH DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK A FOURTH TIME AND NO PROBLEMS WERE FOUND. *JB
I BOUGHT HYUNDAI TUCSON 2005 (SUV, 2.0 GL, 4 CYLINDERS, SHIFTRONIC) ON 4/9/05. I TOOK THIS CAR BACK AND LEFT IT AT A DEALER ON 4/16/05 BECAUSE 1). THE CRUISE CONTROL DID NOT WORK. ). I DROVE THAT CAR TO LA. ON HWY 5 WITH THE SAME SPEED AS 80 MPH. AS THE OTHERS. WHEN I DROVE UP TO THE HILLS, THE SPEEDING WAS DROPPED TO 60 MPH. (20 MPH.DIFFERENCE) AND COULDN'T SPEED UP UNTIL DOWN FROM THE HILLS. I'VE TRIED TO CHANGE TO LOWER GEAR ... IT WAS STILL STRUGGLED. I GOT HONK AND ALMOST GOT HIT FROM THE CARS BEHIND. EVERYONE (SALES, FINANCIAL, SERVICE DEPARTMENT) WHOM CONCERN THIS CASE TOLD ME THAT THEY WILL FIX EVERYTHING FOR US. ON 4/22/05 `JAYSON` CALLED ME TO PICK UP THAT CAR. HE TOLD ME THAT `THERE WERE 2 TECHNICIANS CHECKED MY CAR AND THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG, CRUISE CONTROL WORKS, THIS CAR IS A NORMAL AS 2.0 GL AND ONLY 4 CYLINDERS. FOR THE FIRST PROBLEM. I TRIED TO DRIVE AND CHECK IT WITH IT. FINALLY, HE FOUND OUT THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL'S CHIP WAS LOOSEN AND FIXED IT. WHAT DID HIS 2 TECHNICIANS CHECK? FOR THE SECOND PROBLEM. HE SAID IT'S A NORMAL CAR, HE COULDN'T DO ANYTHING... JUST THE WAY THAT CAR IS. BUT FOR ME, IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE EVEN THE HILLS IN THE CITY (I USUALLY GO TO SAN FRANCISCO, AND TRAVEL AROUND ESPECIALLY LAKE TAHOE, YOSEMITE). THIS CAR IS AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION !!! E SUGGESTED ME TO CHANGE TO LOWER GEAR. I'VE DONE BUT IT NEVER WORKED !! THESE WORDS `WE'LL HELP YOU`. RESULT; THAT'S ALL THEY HAVE DONE.
